The Kothoga is one of very few times when the movie design is way better than the book. In the book, the Kothoga just looks like a large gorilla with a lizard tail. RIP Stan Winston. You were the best.

The CGI in Mimic might look silly to us today, but when it came out it was so advanced. Jurassic Park really made the use of CGI sort of the industry standard, especially when it came to the horror genre. I actually remember seeing Mimic in the theater in ‘97 and feeling the need to constantly look over my shoulder afterward 😂 Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that Mira Sorvino was a total babe.

Fun fact I recently read. Deep Rising was meant to be a prequel to a new King Kong movie in the 90's and the island they land on in the end was going to be Skull Island. But obviously we never got that Kong movie in the 90's so that plan was scrapped

Great list but there's some inconsistencies with the facts. In Relic it is never said that Whitley was ever in love with Margo and in Mimic there is no scene where it is discussed that the bugs were skinning people to make masks.

Deep Rising was originally meant to be a prequel to a new King Kong movie. That island they landed on the end was supposed to be Skull Island. This was dropped as the movie did not perform well at the box office. The new king kong movie was handed to Peter Jackson and Deep Rising was forgotten.
Demon knight is awesome. I saw it at the pictures and have the soundtrack and the novel! Deep rising is a very underated movie which I believe was overlooked as it came out in 98, the same year as the Roland Emmerich Godzilla and also Lost in Space. Just my opinion.
Man, gotta love Demon Knight. I rented that thing quite a lot back in ye old Blockbuster video days. Big fan of HBO's Tales From The Crypt series too, even though it scared the bejabbers out of me as a kid.

i came here after a string of "watchmojoesque" videos and was incredibly surprised by the fact that i didn't know 2/3 of those monster, as a SF fan i'm greatly pleased by work, great job and most of all THANK YOU for all those ideas of movies to watch with my friends, such a shame i could only leave one thumb's up

Why didn't you mention CCH Pounder being in Demon Night too, she is one of my favorite actresses of those who have played smaller roles in movies and tv shows, but makes a impression on you, like she did in this movie! She was also on The X Files too, in the 2 parts of the episodes where Skully was missing, she played a FBI agent herself in that! She has played a lot of judges, lawyers and doctors too in a lot of other shows, the last thing I saw her in was NCIS: New Orleans, she played the coroner and pathologist on the show, but CBS canceled it!
is the narrator a little boy or girl? also as a non native speaker, I struggle with this kind of speech, words are sort of mangled together in many cases. A video like this needs a serious, deep , clear and competent voice.
It's a staple of this channel despite having several different narrators, it definitely feels like the person running the channel doesn't want to record his own narration and given the strange way of writing I don't think English is their first language (the about section lists India as their location), so they hire other people to do it for them for cheap which might explain why they regularly mess up pronunciations or don't address the mistakes because they might not get paid.
I'll be honest. I never knew where the creature from the Relic came from. I certainly didn't think he mutated from the scientist at the beginning of the movie and that he had feelings for the female scientist. Very confusing.
I dont even need to watch this and I know two special effects monsters that looked OUTSTANDING! A million times better than any new CGI monster. The two that first come to mind is the demons from Split Second and Pumpkinhead. Two monsters from a bygone era where Hollywood was at it peak of special effects guys in suits. The two demons look freakin real man..

I love The Relic , I wish they added more of Agent Pendergast. Mimic was also one of my favorites and one of the first Horror/Thrillers I saw as a kid, I was born in 88 so was about 9ish when it came out. Aaannnddddd Idle Hands was my favorite movie growing up all through middle school and highschool.

Demon Knight is one of the better Horror films of the 90’s, period. It holds up incredibly well, and boasts a rad soundtrack.
Still an Awesome film, and yeh the soundtrack was a nightmare to track down as individual songs lol
