You all prolly dont care but does any of you know a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Sonny Calvin i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
my summary 📖✏ 1. *Competition* - your peers are no longer your competition in vet school. You've all made it in and are all in this together. 2. *Imposter Syndrome* - you will feel undeserving at times, questioning whether you deserve to be here. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Everyone feels this way - go back and read your acceptance letter to remind yourself of your success and worth. 3. *Balance* - play sports, do things outside of vet school. 4. *Support System* - find people who you can count and rely to support you through the tough times in vet school. 5. *Enjoy every day* - try to find little bright things in each day to focus on the good parts of vet school. Remind yourself of WHY you chose this profession in the first place. Embrace failure and move forward.
Before I entered college, my parents were very unsupportive with my dream of being a vet but I was very determined to strive and pursue DVM and I'm already on my 2nd year :)))) I appreciate your advices you give throughout your vids!!
This video is FULL of amazing advice and as a fellow 3rd year, I couldn't agree with these tips more. You were being realistic but ending on the good note which is vet school is definitely what you MAKE it! Enjoy the experience!
I just got accepted, and this video is SO helpful and it’s definitely easing my nerves. I feel like I already have a little big of imposter syndrome with the fact that I actually got in, but this is really helpful and motivating! Thank you ❤️
Congratulations on your acceptance!! That’s so exciting!! Don’t worry, imposter syndrome is so common, just remember you 100% deserve your spot! You’ve got this 🥰
Since I was five I’ve wanted to be a vet and at thirteen I still do I’ve researched colleges and now I’m getting “advise” and tips to do this journey ( btw I’m in 8th grade and already started high school classes so taking college early)
omg same i've wanted to be a vet since i was 5 and i just turned 14, 8th grade. and i wanna graduate in 10th grade :)) i wanna take college early but i'm so lost lol
You are so helpful and encouraging! It is wonderful that despite the stress of vet school, your passion for veterinary medicine keeps you going. This is exactly why I am determined to go into vet med! Also, a part two of this video would be awesome. Thank you!
Thank you for this video ! I just got accepted to Ross Veterinary school and I’m waiting to hear back from other schools. It’s great to have advice like this , it’s super stressful to say the least so I appreciate the time you took to make this video !
I'm 29 and have always wanted to be a vet tech as a little girl. I recently got a job at animal hospital as a vet assistant about 4 months ago...and I love it. I had kids at an early age so I spent my days raising them. But now that I'm working at the animal hospital it had sparked my interest into becoming a vet instead. I get to participate in surgeries and be very hands on, it is truly amazing the work vetanerians do. I'm just afraid of going back to school because I haven't been in school since I graduated. I have long ways to go before even applying to vet school. But watching your video made me feel like it's Def worth it. So Thank-you. And of course going to work everyday for the health of animals and saving them is so rewarding .
Im 27 and i have always wanted to be a vet too but never did it as i didnt think i was smart enough! Now im doing an open degree to get the qualifications to get into vet school! Its nice to see another “mature” student!
Feeling imposter syndrome already now as an accepted student, feeling like it was a mistake I was admitted and that somehow it's going to be taken away at any moment. But I'm still so excited to start this journey in August!
Ah I love how honest you are and open about your journey. As a vet student I really relate to having 'comparison and imposter syndrome' as well but agreed, we are all indeed in the same boat! You got this Amanda!!
I'm really passionately looking into this since last year. Animals are my life, and I love them! I watch nature documentaries in my spare time and everything.. Cough not a nerd cough.. I'm looking to volunteer once COVID dies down. Probably work at a pet store or at animal shelters for free.
I just started and im honestly feeling a lot of what youre talking about already. Watching this vid at least puts my mind at ease when it comes to the whole "im not alone". I hope I got the strength to pull through and finish this like youve done
@@itsoundslikehoney Yes!! I did my undergrad in guelph and am still here for vet school! Love the city and the program 😊 Also I think it's amazing that you're wanting to apply to vet school no matter your age. We have several students in their 30's, so if this is your dream, don't let age stop you. I promise, it will be so worth it in the end!! If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out 😊
@@itsoundslikehoney will you go to Vet school fulltime or will you be working on the side? This has been my problem for a long time. I've saved a ton of money but now i feel to old and am overwhelmed with fear of turning things around.
@@yourvetamanda Do the students in their 30's have jobs or did they work and save before going back to school? How are the social relationships between these older students and the new generation? Thank you.
Hey! I just got into vet school because I love it from my childhood. Recently I felt maybe I wasn't made for that because I had all of those feelings you said😞 but after watching your video I felt much better 🤗 I just wanted to thank you and wish you luck in your way of becoming a vet🧡
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! I promise everything you're feeling someone else has also felt. You are definitely not alone! If you ever want to reach out and talk don't hesitate to send me a message!
thank you for the video! i still remember when i was still in my first year of vetschool, there are very few vlogs about vetschool,,, and here i am now, at the end of my third year seeing a lot of new content about vetschool made me grateful :) all the best in your future undertakings, Amanda.
Vet school is really stressful! PS: I didn't expect it to be that way We need videos like this to ease yourself through this. Thanks Amanda. From a pre-clinical student in University of Ibadan.
Thank you so much for this video! Tbh I am actually very stressed about the upcoming semester as I haven't had any bio related classes for almost 2 years, and I actually didn't do that well in my undergrad. So the day I got accepted, all I could think of is luck. I was lucky that I got picked because I couldn't find anything that is competitive and gets me into vet school. I'm also an international student, I am so scared that I won't find any friends from school. but ur video helps me a lot!! Still feels a bit nervous, but as u said, this is what I chose for my life!!! this has been my dream for soooooo long and in the end i can do something I love for my lifetime.
I am working on my undergraduate degree right now, thank you for sharing this, I love this and I am proud of you!! It was very helpful, I appreciate it! I hope to get accepted in Vet school one day.
Congrats on finishing your first year! I have aspirations for vet school as well. Ever since I was young thats all I ever said I wanted to be.. It hasn't been smooth sailing, at all. But I am very determined now, I've had time to grow since high school and now at 23 I'm ready to give this my best shot. Currently doing the prerequisites that I missed out on (and doing way better than I ever did in high school) also taking care of stuff unrelated to school (Finances/Drivers licence/Lots of volunteer work) I'm aiming for 2022 Animal Biology program at Guelph. I still have a lot of doubt if i'm smart enough, If i'm too old now.. But all I can do is try.
Thank you and good luck on your journey! If this is something you’re setting your mind to, don’t give up. Also, don’t worry about being too old, we have people in our program who decided to change careers after already working for 5+ years after school. Age is just a number, the most important thing is being passionate about the profession. If you ever have any questions about OVC or Animal Biology don’t hesitate to reach out!
@@yourvetamanda Thanks so much :) I love that you call it a journey, because it's so much more than just being accepted and going to school. Thats how I look at it too, It's a path to take in life. I try not to look at how far I have to go but focusing on just what the next stepping stone is and as best I can enjoying where I am. I ended up going into film right out of high school, graduated 3 years of that specializing in VFX and while I did enjoy it it, just never felt right. The prospects of sitting in front of a computer the rest of my life when I really wanted to be out in the world making some kind of difference. I was always drawn back to animals. I'm really interested in genetics and nutrition (I have a whole rant about it that I'll spare you from :') lol) I just feel like diet is so important to the health of our animals and a lot of the time theres not a big focus on it (especially for smaller pets, rodents, birds etc) And I know this is just me being starry eyed but I wish I could bring changes to the industry somehow to make bringing smaller animals to the vet more of an affordable and accepted practice. I don't know how yet but I'll figure it out XP. My love of animals extends to everything though, Large, small, wild, domestic. Covid has unfortunately put a pause on my volunteering for now but I do have positions in my local wildlife centre and humane society and I'm hoping when things go back to normal I'll be able to get back into volunteering at a riding program for riders with disabilities, I use to volunteer for in high school. I'm a horse girl who never got to be a proper horse girl lol XD. I feel like this is already long enough i'm just rambling but I've gone to visit Guelph twice now and I just love it there, I fell in love with the school and everyone was so kind and the neighbourhoods still had a bit of hustle and bustle but there was just an air of peacefulness. I think one of the more major things that worry me related getting old is I one day want kids. I want a family as much as I want to become a vet and I just don't know how to fit it all in x.x lol. I requested to follow you on twitter :) (I have the parrot in my profile picture) And good luck for the next years of vet school and everything beyond that. I hope you're able to continue succeeding in everything you set out to do
There’s nothing wrong with comparing your work to others :P That’s how you make new friends, learn new studying techniques, etc.! If it’s going to make you anxious then of course stay away but a lot can be learned from our peers- thanks!
I swear,I wanted to skip your video bcz I thought it’s going to be that stereotype of perfection-videos that some does but YOUR VIDEO IS THE VIDEO THAT I NEEDED!! Thank you so much for this beautiful video .. it’s so helpful for me bcz I am in my first year and i am doubting all the time if I fit in this study .. I am so stressed and i am not in my best mental health but seeing your video helps a lot :D
You are such a lovely person 🥰 I just subscribed! Can't wait for more content! Im going into my last year of undergrad and then in a couple years I'll be applying to vet school!

Thank u so much! Today I broke down bcoz of physiology test. I barely passed in the test. Feel very stressed and demotivated. I come across ur video and gaining back the motivation. I'm in 1st Yr in vet school.
Aw thank you for watching!! Don't stress too much over the test, one grade does not define you or your abilities as a vet! You've got this, I believe in you! 🤍
I'm 17, I've been thinking about vet school, and the more I think about it the more excited I get, bc I really think this is what I want, and this video helped me, bc yeah I know it's not gonna be always easy, but if this is what I want for life, then it's worth. also, I'm a non native english speaker, and i live in japan, so there's more things for me to worry about besides just getting into vet school, but I'm sure I can do this !! (but also I don't have money, and don't know if it is possible to work while studying, hopefully yes 🙏)
I’m a senior in high school and doing a vet internship to graduate as a vet tech!! If I fall in love with the environment I’ll be going to vet school 🥰
I’m only on my 2nd year of being a pre-vet student but even I’ve felt like a fraud or that I’m way behind everyone else. At the vet clinic I’m shadowing at everyone lives on a farm and is used to being around all kinds of animals while I’ve only really been around cats/dogs. I’m slowly gaining more experience so I’m trying to stay positive! I’ve learned I really love working with farm animals 🐮🐴
I am thirteen years old I want to be a veterinarian, and I have read veterinary books, videos and even how to be a veterinarian since school and I never knew that there would be so much rivalry between people. I want to have that feeling of stress in veterinary medicine, I would feel so free, I will enjoy it, even the stress I will enjoy. because there is a dislike in this video that is the coconut head, this is one of the best of the best veterinary videos that I have seen very well explained I go to another video and I do not understand anything, here you have one more subscriber to the army.
I am 12 years old and want to become a vet i am so exited thanks for your amazing tips i will keep on watching your videos and watching your updated videos thanks so much.😄
Hello, thank you for making this video for those who wanted to be a vet. I'm 17, gr11 student under STEM and decided I wanted to be a veterinatian because I love taking care of animals. I wanted to know what are the main lessons that are being taught in a vet school. Goodluck on your career!
I am 13 and seriously interested in becoming a vet. Where should I go to vet school, I know I'm thinking way ahead? Also 2:02 I think I can listen to this pep talk all day
Thanks so much for watching! Where you go to school really is up to you. It will depend what vet schools are located in your area, or if you want to travel and go to school abroad! Good luck with everything!
I love this video! If you don't mind, can you give examples (personal or not) of the "failures" you spoke of? Just trying to get an idea of the struggles I might encounter during my 4 years haha 😊💕
Thanks for watching!! Yes of course, I have many haha! My very first midterm of vet school I got a 62% which was not the best confidence booster to start! Also when we were learning how to do physical exams on cows I almost got kicked every single time I went to assess a cow. I have no idea what I was doing differently, but my other group members had no issues! I guess cows don’t love me haha! Those are just a couple examples but everyone has their own struggles (+ or - cows) 😊 just remember what you consider to be a “failure” doesn’t define you or the vet you’re going to be!! Good luck with everything!
@@yourvetamanda Oh wow, thank you for being transparent!! It's so comforting to hear from current vet students because I have the mindset that everyone who got into vet school is brilliant and has straight A's lol. But as you said, "failure" doesn't define who you'll be as a vet. We are all human working towards one goal and no one is perfect. Sorry the cow hated you! Haha thank you so much and best wishes 😊
If you are still responding to this, let me ask you a question. I did college backward, I started in biology, went to chemistry, and graduated in Electrical Engineering with a chemistry minor. I did well on the GRE and got a MSME in Mechanical Engineering. after earning a PE I went to law school and I am not a patent attorney. Throughout this time I have been a farmer raising both beef and dairy cattle, pigs, egg and meat chickens, and sheep. Even though I am in my mid 30s, I thought about going to Vet school to help me in the farm business and the patent practice. Hard college programs do not scare me. What is your assessment of my proposal?
Hi! Wow, it sounds like you’ve done a lot! It will depend on the vet school you are applying to, but the biggest thing will be making sure you have the required prerequisite courses needed to apply to the program! Best of luck!!!
i always wanted to be a vet since 3 now im eleven and i just love animals, i like doing research and remembering some breeds of dogs and cats, i will love to follow ypu know
greetings from indonesia! im here at 12 years old, and i have a dream to be a vet as well! this video tought me so much for collage and i hope i can be a successful vet!
I just turned 15 and I've wanted to be a vet since I was 10! I have lots of animals and my family boards mainly dogs and other animals. I've also shadowed our vet twice. I have quite a bit of animal experience so i hope that will help me!
I’m a sophomore at umass amherst studying pre vet and man is competition real... last year I lived on a floor of all pre vet kids and I always felt like I was forced to compare myself
I know it’s easier said than done but try not to compare yourself!! People will put on a really good front and make it seem like they’re doing everything right but you never knows what’s going on behind the scenes! Focus on yourself and your experience and I promise it will pay off in the end!
I was 9 or 10 when I decided I wanted to be a vet. I'm 15 now and am preparing for NEET( an exam u need to pass to get into any medical field in India) I'm writing neet 2022 hope I crack neet and get into veterinary College
hi, i have a question, my dream since I was little is to be a vet, but I am NOT the best in chemistry or physics.at least Im good in biology. Is it possible for me to still succeed? Im determined, but im scared the chemistry will just straight up weed me out of the program? does anyone have similar experiences?
First of all, I'm so glad with your progress in vet school. This year, if I get good grades in the final exams, I will have to choose between vet school and med school. I feel like I'd love vet school since animals are my passion but I get a lot of pressure about going to med school. Are these faculties totally the same or I should go where my feeling leads me to?
Thanks for watching!!! Vet school and Med school are both going to be challenging processes to go through. I think it's so important to follow your heart and think about what will make you happiest 10 years down the road. After school we're all going to be working for plenty of years so I think it's really important to find a job that you're not going to dread going to everyday. The choice is up to you, but I would make sure you make a decision that is best for you and not based on others opinions! Good luck!
Hey you just popped up in my recommended! This is super helpful. I’m graduating undergrad in may and eventually want to go to vet school. I didn’t realize I wanted to until about a year and a half ago, so I have a bunch of prereqs to take before I can apply. I’ve been shadowing at a clinic a ton (where they’re hopefully going to take me on as an assistant this summer), I volunteer at an animal shelter, I volunteer at a wild bird rehab center, and I’m constantly around animals. Here’s the thing- my science grades are mediocre at best. I know I could handle it, but I’m worried they’ll overlook me because of my grades. What do you think? Do I have any chance 😅
Congrats on almost being done undergrad! In terms of applying to OVC specifically, if your grades are not in the top 200 applicants, the rest of your application doesn't really matter. However, I know some vet schools in the US or overseas will look at volunteer experience and marks when ranking applicants! I would find a couple vet schools you're interested in and really figure out what they're looking for in their applicants since it will vary between each school! Hope this helps and best of luck 😊
The process of (getting into) vet school in the US or Canada is so interesting to me! I am a vet student located in The Netherlands, Utrecht University. We don't have anything like undergrad here (I don't even really understand what it is/how it works) but we go into uni straight out of high school. So a lot of people in my program were 18 or even 17 first year of vet school. Its also 6 years here, not 4, but it's devided into a Bachelor's degree (3 years) and a Master's degree (3 years). The bachelor program is a general program but into the master you choose a specialty; small pets (cats and dogs etc), horses, or lifestock. We are legally allowed to treat any animal but you usually keep to your specialty. Do you also choose a direction or do you have a more general education?
It really is so interesting hearing about other vet programs!! Our first 2 years of vet school are pretty generalized so we learn about every species and then in our third and 4th years we start to stream and get a little more specialized! Our undergrad is a Bachelors degree, so here you need to complete at least 3 years of a Bachelors before you can apply to vet school!
I'm only 13, but I plan on being an equine vet when I'm older. When in vet school do you choose what kind of animals you specialize in, or do you learn them all?
I’m currently going to school to become a vet tech, I’m in my last year and I have definitely felt like I’m not supposed to be there, I still do sometimes!
I am a grade 12+ student and I want to go to OVC as well. May I ask what major did you take for undergrad? We are at the time of applying to universities, I am thinking of zoology I don’t know if this would be a choice
@@yourvetamanda thank you so much! But which one do you think will help me most? Zoology or animal biology or animal science? Btw I’m from Guelph as well, it’s so nice to talk with someone on the internet that is in the same city as you are especially when we are both going after the same thing! :)
@@vialavida8172 Personally, I think animal biology set me up really nicely for vet school as all my undergrad courses could be used as prereqs for vet school! With that being said, I have friends who took zoology and biomedical science and they loved those programs as well! I think it really depends on which courses you're going to enjoy more!
I’m 14 and I have had so many changes in what I’m interested in becoming and I think the one thing that has stuck with me is the love for animals and helping them. For a question about vet school I was wondering what you do for a job considering vet school is like a full time job
I personally don't work through the school year (besides RUclips)! We get 4 months off in the summer so I work for those months, but I know some people do work through the year and still manage to keep up!
Do you have any tips for high schoolers who want to become a vet? I’ve wanted to be a vet for since i was little! Do you have any tips for high schoolers?
In terms of marks, just get the marks you need to get into the undergrad program you want! And then try and volunteer/work as much as you can! Hope this helps :)
In my Country vet school very easy to get into and there is just 20 students graduate from it. I would like to know the statistics about your country like how many students entered and how many students graduate and how much the salary.
That's so interesting! I can only speak for my experience at the Ontario Veterinary College but 120 students are accepted every year. Majority of those students will graduate from the program after 4 years. The salary will vary depending on which area of vet med you go into but it can range from $70,000 - $80,000 starting out!
I am 13 i dont have a chocie on what to become my only choice was a nurse or doctor i didnt want to be so i decided the only way to make my family happy was to stick with something close to a doctor but something i would work hard and enjoy i have 27 animals but being a vet was never a plan but i seem to think its quite fasinating actully🤔🤩
Being honest, I’m 11, and I already have the Merck veterinary manual, veterinary anatomy and physiology workbook, veterinary anatomy coloring book, and more. I am very into veterinary medicine and i am always open to learn more!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤️🐰🐭🐼🐻🐱🐶🦊🐥🐔🐵🐨🐽🐯🐸🐦🦉
hi, i am 12 yrs old and i really want to be a vet one day and i had a few questions for you. 1. did you start reading anatomy books when you were younger?. 2. is is hard to memorize things for tests and quizes?
Can you please explain to me the schooling and education process getting into vet school, for example, im a senior in highs hook about to graduate and im going to my community college to get my AA degree/general classes and then im going to transfer to a pre vet school to get my bachelors then go to UF or UGA if I get accepted (hopefully I do lol). But can you explain like something’s that would help others out, like classes you MUST take vs classes u didnt need to take that wasted time. Basically how to go through all the years focusing on only the classes you need, any advice for those about to go through the process?
I’m in undergrad and I already have imposter syndrome before I’ve even applied. I feel like I’m not smart enough to get in. I can’t even imagine how much worse it *will* get *when* I do get in. Imposter syndrome is killing me right now
Imposter syndrome is so normal! I promise, if you look around your classroom, the majority of people are feeling the same way you are. For me, looking back at how far I've come always helps when I'm feeling imposter syndrome. Think of how much you've already learned in undergrad! You're smart and capable and the feelings of imposter syndrome are not true at all!
How did you pay for college, did yup have a job, I’m worried about paying for it, can you pay for it after you graduate. How long do you have to pay it off?
Hey, thanks for watching! Depending on where you go to school tuition will be different. I know in the US, tuition for vet school is A LOT more than it is in Canada. I'm very lucky and I have some help from my parents when it comes to paying for school. In the past, I haven't worked through the school year but my summer job each year helps. I also apply for OSAP which is a government loan. It's an interest free loan while you're in school and then once you graduate interest starts. So you can take as long as you need to pay off your loan (but the sooner the better!). Another really helpful thing is applying for scholarships and grants from your school. This has been extremely helpful for me in the past when it comes to paying for tuition. Hope this helps!
Student Vet Amanda sorry I never responded back my notification never went off you replied but thanks for taking you time to reply. I live in the us in North Carolina and I’m in the 8th grade, I’m also homeschooled.I was wondering what classes I should take in high school and for my 8th grade year. I’m planning on going to community college for my last two years in high school, to get two years done with for college so I will only have to go for about six years, hopefully. I really enjoyed your video and I wish you the best luck in your vet school path and career they are blessed to have you there at their college. Also your eyes are very pretty just had to say it!!! May God bless you!!😊
@@graciesasmr2064 I was just reading back through comments and noticed I never saw this reply! Sorry about that! In high school the only classes I would worry about taking are ones you need to get into the undergrad/college program you want to go to! So for me, I took grade 12 english, physics, chemistry, biology and calculus so that I could apply to my animal biology undergrad! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video and comment, it means a ton to me :) Good luck with everything going forward!!!
Hi! Loved this advice. I am struggling to find vet experience(hours) because of Covid. How many hours of veterinarian experience did you have when applying? It is tough because it varies by school.
Hey, thanks for watching! I worked at a vet clinic all through high school so I had a lot of hours there, but directly shadowing a vet I’m pretty sure I had just over 100! At OVC there’s no requirement for how many hours you need, so I tried to get a variety in my experience vs lots of hours!
Hi i just found this video and i really want to do this… i am 25 years old and ill be honest… i feel like its too late for me to go to school for this… ive always wanted to be a vet and to work with animals however i never set that entirely.. because i was so discouraged i wish i would have just done it right out of high school… is it too late for me? Im terrified to fail and to of missed a time frame…
I’m 13 and my dream is to run my own vet clinic and rescue kittens on the side and I have no idea what to do after highschool. I know that I will go to collage but I don’t know what I’ll be doing in collage, I saw a video where I will get my bachelors degree do the GRE then the MCAT, go to vet school and then take the NAVLE but I don’t know how to get my bachelors degree or if there’s anything special in those first four years of college that I have to do to get into vet school and I worry about this a lot just because I will be going to highschool next year.
Try to not worry too much as you've got a while to go :) in high school I focused on getting the grades I needed to get into the university I wanted. Once you're in university, your grades become a lot more important! You'll also need to get some volunteer/work experience in the veterinary field! Hope this helps and try not to worry too much right now!
There’s no age requirement! For most vet schools in North America you need to complete and undergraduate degree before you can apply! This means most people are around 21/22 when they start!
@@lorireiff9173 my undergrad program was in Animal Biology so I covered quite a few of the topics we learned in vet school there! But you’re taught everything you need to know in the program so you don’t have to study anything in particular to get accepted!
It was part of College Royal which is a university wide open house, open to the public of Guelph! I participated in the Dog show which was an obedience class where we got paired up with a dog from the community. We trained for 8 weeks and then got to compete against 8 other student dog pairs! One of the highlights of my university degree for sure ☺️
@@yourvetamanda That's incredible!! I work with the US Dog Agility Association intercollegiate program for getting students involved in agility competitions. I've never even heard of other schools doing any kind of dog show. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and it was so impactful :)
Amanda - Do you have colleagues who applied to OVC before completing their undergrad (after 2 years of undergrad and completing the 8 course requirements)? Have you noticed a difference between these students and those who completed their undergrad? Thank you.
There are a lot of people who get accepted after their third year! Even though I applied in my third year, I personally don't think I would have been ready to start vet school had I got in that round. I needed another year to figure out study habits and time management. But with that being said, everyone is different and there are plenty of people who get in after third year and do great!

Feeling imposter syndrome already now as an accepted student, feeling like it was a mistake I was admitted and that somehow it's going to be taken away at any moment. But I'm still so excited to start this journey in August!

Good luck!
I'm 13 right now and i allready know i will want to do this. I know this study is hard but i will step through it
That’s such a good attitude to have! You got this 👌🏻
Hey you just popped up in my recommended!
@@yourvetamanda thank you!
Not getting impostor syndrome until getting into vet school is WILD. That's been my whole life 😂😢
The process of (getting into) vet school in the US or Canada is so interesting to me!
Thank you❤
You’re very welcome!
I'm only 13, but I plan on being an equine vet when I'm older. When in vet school do you choose what kind of animals you specialize in, or do you learn them all?

It's a great profession! I would definitely recommend taking a look into it if you love animals and want to do something in the medical field 😊
I really want to be a vet when I grow up
Being honest, I’m 11, and I already have the Merck veterinary manual, veterinary anatomy and physiology workbook, veterinary anatomy coloring book, and more. I am very into veterinary medicine and i am always open to learn more!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤️🐰🐭🐼🐻🐱🐶🦊🐥🐔🐵🐨🐽🐯🐸🐦🦉
That’s amazing!!! Keep at it ☺️
Wow that’s great. I didn’t even know what the esophagus was when I was 11.
hi, i am 12 yrs old and i really want to be a vet one day and i had a few questions for you. 1. did you start reading anatomy books when you were younger?. 2. is is hard to memorize things for tests and quizes?
Can you please explain to me the schooling and education process getting into vet school, for example, im a senior in highs hook about to graduate and im going to my community college to get my AA degree/general classes and then im going to transfer to a pre vet school to get my bachelors then go to UF or UGA if I get accepted (hopefully I do lol). But can you explain like something’s that would help others out, like classes you MUST take vs classes u didnt need to take that wasted time. Basically how to go through all the years focusing on only the classes you need, any advice for those about to go through the process?
I want to be a vet! What collages do you recommend???
I literally had NO vet experience and I still got accepted 😳
I’m at that point to where I need to find a college to go too. But I actually have no clue. I live in Texas and was thinking about A&M but idrk
I have a classmate that went to A&M for undergrad and she seemed to really enjoy it!!
What a beautiful vidoe!
What is the most hard subject in ur university?
Thank you!!! Currently I’m finding anesthesia and pharmacology difficult!

Do you still refer back to your A-Levels during Vet school ? For example biology and Chemistry mainly chemistry
It's very much biology based but there are times when all the sciences are incorporated!
How old do you have to be to join vet school? And what are the steps to prepare for it?
There’s no age requirement! For most vet schools in North America you need to complete and undergraduate degree before you can apply! This means most people are around 21/22 when they start!
@@yourvetamanda thankyou! Also another question … Did you study up on veterinary subjects and books before starting? Or how do you prepare?
@@lorireiff9173 my undergrad program was in Animal Biology so I covered quite a few of the topics we learned in vet school there! But you’re taught everything you need to know in the program so you don’t have to study anything in particular to get accepted!
@@yourvetamanda thankyou!
Great thoughts! I am curious -- what kind of dog show were you participating and was it part of a club at your school?
It was part of College Royal which is a university wide open house, open to the public of Guelph! I participated in the Dog show which was an obedience class where we got paired up with a dog from the community. We trained for 8 weeks and then got to compete against 8 other student dog pairs! One of the highlights of my university degree for sure ☺️
@@yourvetamanda That's incredible!! I work with the US Dog Agility Association intercollegiate program for getting students involved in agility competitions. I've never even heard of other schools doing any kind of dog show. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and it was so impactful :)
@@rebeccajernigan That's so interesting! Such a cool program to get students involved!
I really scared to be a veterinarian but in 2027 is what I’m going to college and I’m really really really scared
