      Actually, the vertex, the point of your head that you pointed, is craneal, not dorsal.

    • @jesscliffee
      @jesscliffee  3 года назад +2

      @@naturalspanish1049 technically not! Because when you're describing the head you use rostral and caudal - instead of cranial! Because everything on the head is cranial!

    • @naturalspanish1049
      @naturalspanish1049 3 года назад +2

      @@jesscliffee @Jess Cliffe @Jess Cliffe I probably did not explain myself correctly.
      Technically everything in the head is cranial..and Is not at the same time.
      If we talk about an absolute term, the face Is not part of the cranium.
      If we talk about relative terms, my nose is cranial over my mouth ( Same way that both the nostrils and the eyes are rostral in a dog, but the nostrils are rostral over the eyes)
      That makes the point that you touched the most cranial part of your body ( that's why it's called the craneal vertex - or the general area the craneal boveda).
      Should have not said cranial though, because when taking about biped species we say superior over cranial ( so my nose would be situated superior over my mouth, but never dorsal to It).
      Sorry if my explanation sounds rude. I'm not trying to be mean at all. I'm doing the best I can with my english.

    Yup, you definitely move to lateral saphenous on dogs if you blow the Cephalics. Actually it can be preferred to use these veins if a dog is head shy or has wounds on the forelimbs etc.. In cats we use the medial rather than lateral.

We have dogs on campus to practice hands on activities (no cats bc they're too unpredictable) and in my final year, we had a barn nearby that is willing to let us work with the horses there. Besides getting the certification in high school, the only other way I know to get it is to learn from a licensed vet and take an exam when you cover all the material. I’m 19, currently a freshman in college and my major is veterinary medicine. I’m not really sure what kind of career I’m trying to pursue, but I’m interested in the treatment of exotic, wildlife animals and livestock animals, and of course your domestic small animals. I wanna do it all! Lmao. Something fun and high paying. Right now, I’m currently in the process of receiving my CVA (certification of veterinary assistant) and it’s been great. My concern is trying to figure out the direction of where to start on my veterinary journey. This video was really helpful in most aspects and explained a lot. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️

      Hey! That is so awesome. I totally understand where you are coming form - I don't know which direction i want to take my own veterinary journey in honestly. Just go where life takes you, and take all the opportunities you can :)

    I'm a nine yr old and still decided to watch this but I have a great reason why! :)
    I've kind of always wanted to be a vet because I love animals and I want to learn some veterinary things to get a little bit of a head start for when I go to college to learn to be a vet, also because I would want to know what to do if something were to happen to my dog or my grandparents dog or cat.

    We use medial saphenous for blood draws on all of the kittens in our rescue (I foster and volunteer a ton). It's just easier with squirmy tiny babies.

    • @jesscliffee
      @jesscliffee  4 года назад +1

      Wow thats so interesting! Medial not lateral? Never heard of it, thanks for the information!! :)

    • @wintersage14
      @wintersage14 4 года назад +1

      @@jesscliffee it’s inner hind leg so I think medial! Not sure why in particular though.
      On a different note - is there any particular specialty you are drawn to? What do you see your career in vet med looking like (as of today) once you graduate?

    • @jesscliffee
      @jesscliffee  4 года назад +1

      Yes thats so cool, thanks for telling me about that technique :)
      Hmm, I definitely prefer small animal medicine at this point, however I do love some aspects of large animal medicine, but in terms of speciality I'm unsure - I'm enjoying both surgery and pathology at this point so either of those could be a route I go down.
      But right now I'm just going with the flow, and hoping to start off in a mixed animal practice. I also love the idea of exotic/conservation medicine (wildlife, zoos, interesting pets e.t.c), which could be something I explore in the future :)

I have done a cert in animal studies and know some BASIC BASIC stuff like TPR's and we had to memorise certain ranges but i still feel like i know nothing. So thank you for this video!
