My first attempt at the brand new "Battle Royale" feature on Geoguessr!

- Geoguessr have brought out a brand new feature, and it's a good one.
Watch me try it out (albeit in very rusty form) and see if I can win a game in my first few attempts..
Apologies for the abrupt ending, the microphone went all Darlic on me again.

When he said Euskal Herria i about yelled at my phone haha.
It twigged shortly after the video what that was. It must have been ages since I'd seen those words, and so it must have been pushed out of my brain by Pokémon type advantages or something.

When I went there I memorized the usual

And with a military registration plate , which are A LOT less common than normal ones
Tunisia is pretty distinctive. That plate in a flat desert environment is a dead giveaway.

Being able to see incorrect guesses is a stroke of genius. In hard rounds like panoramas, or any round really, you can use your two extra lives as mulligans to narrow down options, since they regenerate each round, but you're also helping the competition. On the flip side you can wait for the opponents to guess incorrectly and help you, but you risk losing by picking last or running out of time.
or if you know it's Romania, vote Chad first so people think Romania is wrong ;-)
it's super hard to remember to look at the incorrect guesses though, if you like me tend to panic at the ticking clock!

The yellow bar gives everyone a chance to lock an answer in at the start and after that yellow part expires it checks everyone's answers. If they're right they all go through, that's how you and the other finalist had to go another round. If anyone is wrong after the yellow bar is up it takes a life and you get another go (depending on how many are playing and how many places there are to go through that round)

@@KorZen10 If you have been playing GeoGuessr for many years or months, then you will know that such places can only be in Bulgaria or Hungary. It looks nothing like Norway or something anyway

@@ChoiceDK does norway not have winter coverage? The vegetation isn’t anything out of the ordinary for Scandinavia and norway has got that hill landscape, only thing I suppose is the roads but even then I feel like you can find those here in norway too.
This mode seems really well tought out. Some simple design ideas that can make for some emergent gameplay.
For example, instead of pointing out the right answer right away, you could make mistakes on purpose to lure people in wrong directions by making 3 guesses really quickly (the 2 wrong guesses being in the opposite direction of the 3rd one).
I think this happened to him in one of the games though inadvertently. He guessed Norway and USA and suddenly people start wrongly guessing Finland and Canada

The first one was from my city, Bengaluru (Bangalore), India. It is called Chinnaswamy Stadium. It's a Cricket stadium. I hardly see Indian places on Geoguessr & seeing one made me really happy. I never miss to watch your videos, love the Geoguessr content.

Pulled up a game of Battle Royale while watching this, and happened to join a game you were in! It was that gnarly one where almost everyone got knocked out on that hill in Israel (I was lucky and saw a yellow plate.) Cheers, and can't wait to keep playing!

When I saw the leafless forest, beat up road, patches of snow and mid tall mountains as a bulgarian I immediately knew it was Bulgaria. For you to guess this right its absolutely amazing for me. I just cannot believe how in the world you got this right. I have traveled all over Bulgaria and you got it right even though you probably never visited Bulgaria in your life. Absolutely astonishing.

When I read "Euskal Herria" I knew it had to be from País Vasco (the Basque Country). I went to a Basque school when I was a kid. The school's name was "Euskal Echea" (Basque Home). The things one learns without even knowing. I felt like Slumdog Millonaire.

That first stadium in India is 10km from my house 😂 in Karnataka by the way. It actually reads KSCA which stands for Karnataka State Cricket Association in Kannada. Anyways nice format!
I like that Indian locations come up in this. Partly cause it throws a spanner in the works for players who play streetview only maps, due to the scripts (e.g. streetview only players see the Bengali script and will usually guess Bangladesh, and may confuse the Kannada script with the Sinhala one and assume Sri Lanka).

This feature is legit one of my favourites, I had so many interesting moments in it, like I saw some mountains and thought Montenegro and it was right, or the time when I recognised my home country literally by looking at a field.
Thanks Tom! It could be more enjoyable if you just kept strolling a little bit more after guessing correctly, though. I'd love to see more on that Mongolia one, for example.

I have been in Greece so many times, and when you went past that little memorial beacon with the cross on it, I instantly guessed Greece. It is unbelievably many of those crosses on the side of the road
