    Sounds great! I really think CB might have hit a homer with this one as it seems immediately accessible and musical. Great quick video and I’m looking forward to the arrival of mine in the coming days/weeks.

      It really is a home run of a pedal! Very accessible and musical!! Great Job Chase Bliss!!!

    I honestly can’t tell if I like this or not. I have so many wacky Pedals at this point, but the problem is it’s getting hard to make actual music with them. Seems like these are awesome for experimental noodling.

      I hear you. Definitely great for experimental noodling, but I find that’s what often sparks my creativity for something bigger. Dial back the mix and make some music!

      @@thepedalcollaborative true man. I took your advice and got the mx. actually quite happy with it although i have only played with presets and have not even started tweaking yet. Have been bouncing back and forth from eurorack to guitar and pedals. I may get this but will wait for more of your videos to decide what can come out of it.

      To confirm, you got the MercuryX or the BigSkyMX? Both are great!
      If there are any specifics I can help with let me know!

      @@thepedalcollaborative i actually have both. Sorry should have clarified forgot about both being mx lol. I ended up getting big sky mx because of your videos. I just havent taken the time to dive in yet. Been dicking around with other shiny toys in the studio but always love when people do deep dives from the bottom up how to use a pedal in an out even if videos are long. Most videos dont have literal step by step tutorials. More or less overview tutorials. Your content is great btw.

    Unlike many others, I do not want to hear an entire song with any glitch type effect entirely throughout. These units are for creating moments and expanding on them, perhaps in private or intimate spaces. Any ways, that's how I use it[those types of FX]

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +1

      Many effects could fall into the category of best used for creative moments. Always on effects should be few and simple in what they do. Otherwise, the sounds can get static and feel fatigued

    DaMMiT Man..... I don't have room for any more stomp-a-doody pedals....!? 😂 Awesome video - is this stereo input and output....?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +1

      The Onward has TRS I/O so yes it can do stereo in and out. It can also do MISO, SIMO, and MIMO…
      …if you don’t have room…get a bigger pedalboard ;)

    Do you like this better than the Hologram Microcosm?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  5 месяцев назад +1

      Personally I don’t put them in the same camp and prefer the Microcosm. However that’s probably due to how I use the two. The Microcosm to me is a foundational effect. I use it at the beginning of the chain. The Onward cuts up and glitches my sound. I don’t use it as a foundation to my sound.
      Hope that helps!

    This is awesome! Was super intrigued when I first saw this release. Just one question though to stir your thoughts... What is the genuine purpose and/or difference in Chase Bliss pedals?
    I am a massive fan of Hologram Electronics and have both the Microcosm and Chroma Console on my board. Those along with the LVX, I have a hard time seeing some of the things that Chase Bliss pedals do and think that I'm missing anything. Perhaps you could shed some light, but from my lamen perspective, they all just seem like different flavors of lofi/glitch/ambience pedals that with the 3 pedals I mentioned above, I have a hard time justifying.... Thoughts?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +5

      Great question, and one I was just chatting with my buddy about today. I would start by differentiating the Chase Bliss line from the Hologram Microcosm & Chroma like this. The Hologram pedals are in some ways multi-fx. The Chroma for sure is! The Microcosm is a delay based multi-fx with the ability to add in reverb and modulation, as 44 various delay algorithms that do land in the glitch/granular/ambient category.
      The LVX is a digital delay powerhouse that can accomplish a LOT of different sounds...even a lot of Chase Bliss sounds, just not as deep in some of those specific sounds. Example being you can get some MOOD sounds on the LVX but not all of them...
      The Chase Bliss line are indeed various forms of lofi/glitch/ambient pedals, but each one is hyper-focused on what it does.
      Lo-fi:
      Generation Loss: VHS and tape style loss
      Lossy: MP3 encoding style loss with dynamic reverb
      Glitch/Granular/ambient
      MOOD: ambient machine with delay, reverb, granular, and microloops
      Habit: delay with a mind of it's own. This can be a simple clean digital delay but can also get glitchy and grainy and can feed into itself for endless possibilities. It also has a 3-minute all ways listening "head" that can randomly playback.
      Blooper: complex looper with glitch
      Onward: samples, glitches, & freeze with a lot of possibilities in that world
      I hope that helps. Of the Chase Bliss mentioned above, I've tried them all but have kept the MOOD Mkii, Generation Loss Mkii (mostly because it's the 10th anny colourway that matches my MOOD...so I view them as a set), Habit, & Onward (simply because I just got it and haven't made any determinations yet.
      Any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

      Wow this is by far the most detailed and well thought out explanation of how all of these pedals work together and honestly really helps me classify each into their own little categories. Thanks so much and I really appreciate it!!

    • @BrockDavisson
      @BrockDavisson 6 месяцев назад

      To go a little further, to be honest all of chase bliss pedals are pretty much multi-effects. Each one has many things it can do. Like mood v1 and v2 can do delays, reverbs, tremolos, phaser like sounds, lo-fi, delays, glitches etc.. The warped vinyl can do chorus / vibrato / tremolo and more type sounds. The spectre flanger and wombtone can do flangers, phasers, trem like stuff, and more. Even dark world reverb can do tremolo, and weird robotic stuff and more. Same for their delay pedals like reverse mode c which can do a few different modulation things, and thermae can as well along with pitch sequencing, and tonal recall has nice modulations too along with delays. It's all about the dipswitches that make them turn into something else!

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +1

      @BrockDavisson you’re 100% correct! I was simplifying things a little to help understand some of those pedals at their core. But you’re right in that there’s so much more each one can do!

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +4

      I haven’t put them side by side yet so take this with that in mind, I think they will compliment each other well and that the Onward takes the glitchy/grainy/freeze thing the MOOD does but way deeper to the point of little overlap.
      I’ll put them side by side and get a better answer later and record my findings for you and anyone else interested

    the 'error' side, with little to no control of it, will get old soon, I'm afraid. could be a much more interesting compositional tool.. maybe MIDI sequencing might help though. pity CB is so guitar-focused, a larger-format tabletop FX processor could be a hot hit

    • @thepedalcollaborative

      Ooh a tabletop unit would be sweet! Something more synth/sound design focused. I support that!

  • @OliverEvergreen

    I was a fan of these pedals until I realized I haven't heard any finished song with such effects. or, even if I heard, I didn't care enough to love or remember.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +2

      I hear you! I think they’re more there than you might realize.
      Example: Mason Stoops has a Reverse Mode C on his your board right now. I heard him live and could tell moments when he had that engaged. Subtle and placed perfectly in the mix. You didn’t know it was there but you missed it when it wasn’t.
      The hard thing with a video like this is that it’s ALL about one effect and the sounds it makes and not about how it fits into a song or a mix.

    • @OliverEvergreen
      @OliverEvergreen 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@thepedalcollaborative so, it was a delay that basically could be any other delay.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +1

      No. Sorry maybe I represented that wrong. The RevModeC is pretty unique. Other delays like the LVX can get to similar places, but not as deep or as focused

    • @OliverEvergreen
      @OliverEvergreen 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@thepedalcollaborative I had it, like pretty much all of their pedals. still, the effects are so niche in their sounds I consider them mostly toys for noodling around. actual music doesn't revolve around effects. I'd love to hear at least one complete song with mood or habit, for example. not a demo instrumental on RUclips, if you know what I mean

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  6 месяцев назад +1

      I hear what you mean. I just jammed out to the Mood into the Onward and felt like it did some coolness. Maybe I can add some drums to it and see how it feels
