Obstruction can cause both ..bronchiectasis is more a consequence of long standing obstruction in larger airways ..leading to inflammation and destruction of elastic fibres as I mentioned Where as atelectasis is due to resorption of air due to obstruction .. is more of an acute consequence. That’s the beauty of Pathology!! A single cause can lead to multiple diseases.. on the contrary multiple causes can also lead to single disease!!
