Honestly liyue's history is definetelly one of the most most hopefull, we have friends who build a prosperous civilization only for a war to break out, killing said friends one by one and destroying all they worked for, and yet, some still remain, and Liyue has risen up on their own two feet and prospered once more even after another tragedy in the cataclysm, happiness can still be found even through so much loss, Guoba is living the best life, Guizhong's legacy was not lost, Xiao and Ganyu have new friends, Zhongli has seen the region he has raised for thounsands of years grow and become independant, Cloud retainer, Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver alongside Ping did not have their efforts be in vain. Liyue is a giga chad of a region, and honestly? I feel like things would not have been the same without Guizhong. This woman is absolutedly great.
Yeah Most of the foundations of Liyue revolves around her and Morax and Liyue wouldnt exist if it wasnt for her. Being able to convince Zhongli to join his people with hers to create a civilization that will be the foundation of the Liyue Region. Guizhong's moral code is still used even to this day (with slight deviations). But still I cant help but feel like she was forgotten in Modern Liyue. She has no worshippers to my knowledge, and there were only few to commerate her death. I believe the rite of parting is a farewell gift for Guizhong because Zhongli offered 1. Glaze Lilies 2. Cleansing Bell 3. Noctilocus Jade instead of Cor Lapis 4. Morax likes mature women perfume.
The story of madame Ping and guizhong is actually a reference to a Chinese legend: Buoya and Ziqi. In ancient China, the two were good friends. Buoya was good at playing the guzheng, and Ziqi was good at listening the sound of guzheng. When Buoya played the guzheng while thinking about mountains, Ziqi felt the majestic mountains from the sound of music; when Buoya played the guzheng thinking about flowing water, Ziqi felt the vast rivers. After Ziqi's death, Buoya never played the guzheng again, because he knew that no one could understand his music like Ziqi.
we know 3 geo gods now, king deshret, guizhong and zhongli. oh wait 4 almost forgot guoba. all of them control different type of geo: sand, dust, rock and soil.
I wonder if Havria counts since salt would also fall under the Geo element, on the other hand Guoba is most likely a Pyro god, there were quite a few other Geo gods in ancient times as well going by various lore descriptions.
from what i remember, guoba breathing fire is caused by eating too much spicy food which is his favorite. one of those cartoon joke you eat spicy food you learn ability to breathe fire. now idk if being stove god automatically mean he was pyro god or he was clever at making stoves.
I'm hoping to hear Zhongli talk about her personally. However, I do have some personal headcanons about some things. I think after her death, Zhongli tried to fill both roles of the Guili duo. He matured because of her influence. I think his more sophisticated attitude and ways of speaking are derived from her. Many of the lessons she taught him shaped the person we see now. His appreciation for humans, knowledge, and the passage of time.
I wonder if the day Zhongli does talk at length about Guizhong will be the day he solves the puzzle. Although I'm worried about it becoming a death flag for Zhongli, I'm interested to see what it reveals.

The lantern right was not from his perspective and didn’t see much of him, which made him seem almost out the picture which wasn’t the case considering he and guizhong ruled the Guili plains together. We need his perspective. The stone cold god who was softened by Guizhong.
Maybe Guizhong made a puppet of herself so that she would just transfer her soul to it just like how Ei transferred her soul in a sword. But her untimely death left the puppet without a soul and the Fatui managed to snatch this puppet and turned it into a Harbinger that never gets tired and doesn't have emotions. Remember, Sandrone is known as the MARIONETTE, and it means puppet.

Guizhong has been my favorite character ever since I have learned about her. This lantern rite was a blast, but I am still bitter that we did not get anything from Zhongli. It makes me wonder will the rest of Genshin Impact story be toned down because of possible community backlash.

I don't think they'll keep it that way, hyv doesn't care about community backlash you see.. They didn't care when people were complaining about sumeru and the lack of dark skinned characters, or currently the complaints being made about dehya's kit. Besides, most of zhongli's character is about guizhong, it's not that noticeable though because it's indirectly delivered, so if they were to ignore their relationship then they're ignoring his character as well, and same goes for her. Zhongli doesn't talk about her because that's apart of his personality, the more he griefs on something the less he talks about it, such as the azhdaha thing, he would have never talked about azhdaha if that incident in his 2nd story quest had never happened. And remember, the stone dumbbell she handed him is still locked, it will definitely be unlocked one day in the game, otherwise what's the point of mentioning it and adding it to his lore?

Oh, a small observation/correction on 2:56: in Zhongli idle animations it's not the Memory of Dust, since the latter is a symmetrical object with a metal ring around it, while the rock in his idle animations is highly asymmetrical and doesnt have any ring. The rock in his idle animation is actually a minituare version of his Befall meteor.

I have a theory about her actually.. It's my own theory though haha So I just feel like guizhong predicted her meeting and departing with zhongli, both. Because at their first meeting, she handed him the stone dumbbell remember? It feels off, why would she hand someone she just met something that took effort from her and contain her wisdom / memories in it? In what way will that be useful to him? That's other than the fact that she must've had it ready.. It wasn't specified whether guizhong met zhongli first or if he met her first but what's important is that it was in her hands, ready, as if she KNEW she'd be meeting someone, and she knew she could trust them with the dumbbell. Another thing, she handed it to him "as a mark of their pledge",, Now, why would she think of handing him something that would later on mark their journey together, especially since as I mentioned she handed it over to him while they had just met.. That's unless she knew she was gonna meet him, she knew she could entrust him, and she knew she was gonna die at some point thus she handed him something that would be in the remembrance of her. Her final words feel off as well, it doesn't feel like she was upset she's departing from the world, or that her nation will die.. When she was dying, she wasn't even upset she's dying she told zhongli to forget about the dumbbell, and was gonna tell him what's inside it, probably so he can forget it.. But why would she mention something like that as she was dying? Was the dumbbell the reason she died? This is relevant to my theory because if she truly has the ability to predict the future, then inside the dumbbell remained the events she predicted as her wisdom is supposedly inside it, my guess is that she either saw things from the future that she shouldn't and the divine punished her for it, or her brain couldn't handle it so it slowly killed her, and yes that is possible because she wasn't killed by someone, the only person who could've killed her is zhongli himself, because who would think of trying to challenge two gods, with one of them being an archon too.. So in my guess (just my guess) she was either killed by zhongli for some reason or the wisdom she had slowly killed her as I mentioned. I'm not a huge fan of the sandrone theory but if my theory is correct then maybe, just maybe she created an alter puppet of herself which is now sandrone? But something like that should be written in a fashioned way, much like how wanderer's was written.
