- Lord Barbatos is the Anemo Archon of Mondstadt, and one of the two remaining gods of the original Seven Archons. He has played a major role throughout Mondstadt's history, yet is supposedly the weakest of the Archons. When the Hexen Witches challenged Venti to a fight and he proposed a musical challenge alternative he was showing them, without violence, just how powerful he is and who they’re challenging.
Venti knows every song ever made and every song that will be made.
They had NO chance. They recognized this and never again pursued overthrowing him.

I also suspect Venti isn’t being truthful about his power level. Venti does whatever Venti needs to in order for Venti to not draw much attention to himself. He seems to want to exist under the radar and not set off too many alarm bells all while helping and supporting the people of Tevat
Watch Venti either rival or surpass prime Zhongli
Imagine having a bunch of angry witches come up to you, declaring war, but instead you just tell them to join your bard band and they say ok. How did Venti manage that? Was it a gradual thing or did he just suggest it and they sat down for a tea party?

Venti telling the witches to vibe not fight and the hexenzirkel complied just like that is amusing. Not only that, the witches even entrusted their lantern to him and any outsider who wished to go to the tea party area needs to have his approval. I think that is saying something about barbatos and his witches companions.
Another thing that I find amusing (and also wholesome) is venti's friendship with zhongli. Both have different ideals, their elements are total opposites, but they are basically just 2 sides of the same coin. Despite their difference they were and still besties, so much that zhongli's character story 5 talks about barbatos a lot.
Venti is such an intricate puzzle to decipher, he shares so much to us yet so little. Here are the things that im perplexed about him:
1) Celestial
- he says he knows nothing about this place and yet in his voice line he mentions (iirc)
“Celestia? Oh i don’t know about the plce …etc…… but the APPLE there TASTED bland and unsavoury “
- like how can he describe so well to a place he’s never been before? Why r u lying??
2) Archon’s Power
- Nahida said that the archon’s power relies heavily upon his/her worshippers. Meaning more ppl worship then the more powerful they’ll get.
- Venti out of nowhere told us he’s the weakest archon… without us asking him. Was he trying to lower our guards around him? Because! :
- To use a wind glider one must give prayer to the anemo archon so he can give them his blessing -
( in sumeru a researcher had tried to rebel against the anemo archon by creating her own wind glider, to her demise no matter how many prototypes she cannot fly the wind glider without the anemo archon blessing ) I randomly stumbled upon this info when talking to npc. And There’s even an old man in sumeru who’s always praying to barbatos because of his dead friend (?) i cant remember but he wanted his friend to be free like the wind.
- this makes me thinks, 😅 the majority of teyvat FLIES on the damn wind glider. EVERY NATION ACROSS.
- Weakest archon my arse, almost everyone pray blessings to the anemo archon, not to mention he have a damn church and a cult group outside of mondst ( they are a group in sumeru desert area iirc, they pray to barbatis because they like the idea of freedom )
3. His songs
- listen, venti knows the song of the Past, Present and FUTURE. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEANS?!!
- after scara quest, we know how important allegory is in the game, in order to restore the truth after being wiped in the irminsul.
- the only ppl who rmbers are only those who r not from teyvat (eg traveller, and maybe zhongli)
- and in one of mondst event ( Razor’s parent ) we saw how venti can even bring memories of the past to visial themselves using his wind 🤨 Like broo?? HOW STRONG ARE YOU. IS THIS THE THING THAT YOU MEANT BY WIND BRING MEMORIES??!

@@farhanatashiga3721 sadly i dont remember 😅 it was so random but they exist. Once in a while i did find them again but i didnt take note of the place.
What I do remember :
1) The one talking about the old friend are a pair of old couple. The old guy was remiscing while the old lady told him to move on with life. They were standing at a platform like the ranger houses.
2) The windglider researcher was also near that place(?) iirc , an npc (girl) was standing next to a book. You can read it, it tell details how the fake windglider never glides.

Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Venti's theonly archon who's had non-natives to his own nation religiously praying to him. There's a lady in Liyue who prays to him for her husband (a sailor), the group in Sumeru, and others. (idk if there's any in Inazuma, if someone's come across that, please let me know!)

For the inazuma, iirc almost all of the sailors who survived and landed in inazuma or outside of inazuma thanked the anemo archon 🤔 i think thoma did mentioned he was lucky his boat was brought by the wind to inazuma land (he thought he’d die drowning) …Idk my memory is hazy 😂
Ohh but i do know our popular emo boi in liyue is actually fond of venti. If you watched this year latern rite cut scene, xiao said that by listening to a bard’s song helped him from being corrupted.
When we know that venti power can visualise the past memories through music, i found it so endearing 🥹 Venti is such a nice archon. He must’ve showed xiao his past memories with his siblings through the song.

Venti simps Rise!, cant wait for his 2nd story quest a lot and suggests why it's taking so long to have his story quest because we are gonna get a lore bomb major enough for another weekly boss.
Remember that corrupted upside down statue of Barbatos yes it might be connected to that again or it is on Dorman Port. Think that it might be connected to either Abyss which is more likely or the Fatui, since Mondstadt is the "gate way to celestia"

Prologue one about Vanessa and Venti, He definitely knows Celestia but he has bad taste from them maybe that voice line you said is a 'metaphor' about that.
Vanessa ascending to Celestia you can get a glimpse of how celestia looks like, someone pointed out that it somehow resembles an old type prison where theres a light tower in the middle of a circle dome like building where the cells are kept, but still not sure if its really like that.

There he is!
Venti is such an interesting character that not even the fandom appreciates at more than face value in my opinion. He lives amongst his people incognito (which is ironic, as that title goes to Morax which ALSO makes them quite similar despite their ideologies. It would make sense they are friends, no?) and watches over Mondstadt ensuring there are no dangers. You know, Venti's attempts to save Dvalin even before we meet him tells us that he was willing to solve the problems himself, but a story must begin.
He is literally everywhere. Remember the letter in The Chasm? That one still gets me. He's been on the sidelines, yet it's quite obvious there's so much more to the Anemo Archon that remains to be seen. In game, if you talk to any of the NPC's that mention him, you will find that they revere him, despite as we know (paraphrased) "Barbatos has not been seen in centuries and the only thing that shows him as the Archon is the Statues of the Seven in Mondstadt."
Venti remains a mystery and not even the game itself wants to unravel him. Hell, most of the time he's present is for comedy relief (Lantern Rite) and during Mondstadt-related events, he's not the main focus. In due time, I hope this changes and we get to learn more about him. He's the only Archon that doesn't have a second story quest and that is very deliberate. I speculate that something has to happen when we reach Fontaine in order for his second story quest to unlock, but that's just me.
Who knows how much power he's hiding, if at all? He may be powerful, but doesn't like to fight unless he really has to. One shouldn't take him saying he is the weakest as the truth, because there's so many things he's done which disprove that.
Anyway, great video as always. Looking forward to the future videos for Ei and Nahida.
We still don't have venti part 2 its truly something special that I feel it'll be a while from now
The most interesting thing about Venti is that he is the only archon who simply disappears for centuries. We're not told that he travels around like current zhongli, or that he switches forms to conceal himself. He simply "goes to slumber". No other archon does that. They are either alive or dead. Either known by people or unknown. Zhongli is unknown, but he is still there, wandering around.
Venti also has a strong link with the god of time, so I have the feeling that those century long slumbers of his are not really perceived as such by him. Real question is: where does he vanishes to? Celestia? Another dimension? Or maybe out of time? In any case, he is clearly much, much more powerful and important than he tries to look.

A side note but bro have you seen the letter venti sent us in the game??? He was literally talking about areas that never appeared in the game, maybe it is a new area coming soon, also in the end of the letter he said "if there's any danger, you'll REMEMBER to protect me right? " i literally got shivers imagine this a hint for his second story quest + the fact that he is, not asking the traveler to protect him but REMINDING the traveler to do that, it literally gives me the vibes of his hello lines where he said "ah traveler, we meer again, what? You don't remember me?? Well allow me to join u in ur quest once again! " , ALSO in the Chinese web birthday event they made an art for venti where he was singing for the traveler and paimon and kaeya was literally behind in the corner watching him.
You might think i am overreacting but dainsleif literally says "there's no such thing as a coincidence, everything is a seed that was planted a long time ago" 🤨🤨🤨
Venti plays dumb and plays everything off like he's just the cheery bard, but there's a whole lot he knows and that he's hiding..
Regarding his relationship with the Tsaritsa, I bet it has a link to the destruction of Khaen'riah. Wherein 6 of the archons were forced to comply through their gnosis, Venti likely saw more value in complying willingly, maybe even acting as an envoy of Celestia. The Tsaritsa probably saw him as a traitor.

My theory is that he is either Istaroth child (since in Genshin, the creation refer their creator as parent) or he is similar to Lilopar and Nabu Malikata relationship (retainer)
That or he is Istaroth shade. Her replacement or backup
I get the feeling Varka knows Venti's true identity, but its a secret they keep between the two of them and they occasionally hangout with each other drinking wine.
So much history yet so many questions, a tantalising existence this bard has. Wonder what will be in-store for us in his second story quest, whenever that is....
Also a little side story, i was a venti simp when i start playing and boy i was absolutely _livid_ with rage when that whole scene with signora happened. I was praying to high heavens we would exact vengeance on her one day. When that day eventually came you better believe me when i say i put everything i got to beat her and man, when the shogun cremated her i was giggling like an idiot I couldn't have asked for a better revenge arc against her.
Of course all of this was before I pay attention to her tragic backstory, however although i understood her motivation now for doing what she did i still have zero regrets for enjoying her death as much as i did. Sorry not sorry signora simps ☺️
LITERALLY ME! I NAMED MY TEAM VENTI’S REVENGE WHEN I FOUGHT HER
I do feel bad about what happened to her, but I felt like she blamed the wrong person. After all, her husband was a knight who was willing to put his life on the line for his nation. It is implied that Venti can not control when he sleeps (or for how long) and can only be awakened when his people are calling for his help, and even if Venti were awake, he would had been fighting and would have been unable to help just one knight.
Venti is definitely deeply connected to a lot of Genshin's important lore, hes so mysterious and absolutely hiding information from us as players. this is why he'smy favourite

Also, I always thought it was strange how such a prideful being such as Andrius was willingly sacrificing his divine body to let the tiny wisp becomes a God. Whether or not if he dislikes humanity and doesn't see himself to be a God, it just seem too "easy".
Agreed, it just adds more layers of depth to the mystery of Venti.

i always love Ventis blatent lie when he said he was the weakest of the archons not only because he is one of the few original archons remaining meaning he has massive amounts of battle experience, but he also had the queen gnosis, and is not an actual child (sorry nahida). Speaking of Nahida if she is as powerful as she is while being a child and actively shuned by most of sumeru, then Venti whose terraforming can be plainly seen in the jagged cliffs and cut mountain tops, and who is to this day still acting as a god of death in mondstadt, while also actively keeping mondstadt from experiencing severe storms, and on top of all this he is still veneratred by the population, while one of the ruling organizations is his church sooo yeah...
Venti is trying to remain modest. If he uses his full potential or unveil himself, he will be challenged but as long as he remains “as the wind” people will continue to put their faith in him
What if Venti has abyssal corruption, he sleep too much for that? Just something that came to my mind, while watching the video.

Venti is my favorite character in the whole game. He's such an interesting character and I'm super curious to see what his role will be in the later points of the game, since I'm convinced he's got a larger role still to play in the story

The citizens of Old Mondstadt really murdered their god for trying to protect them-
He got murdered because he thought he knew what was best for his people more than they themselves did. Amos was his lover, and I feel that she would not have turned on him if she did not feel like he had gone too far. After all, the road to hell was paved with good intentions.

There wasn't really much else he could do to keep them safe from Andrius' blizzards. I will admit it is cruel to keep people locked up in a barrier, but if he didn't do that they would've died from hypothermia. But uh yeah. I appreciate your response, it has given me a new outlook on the topic :3
The rest of the world (Including various divine factions such as the Yakshas, etc.): Suffering and even dying at the hands of the aberrations of Kaenri'ah, barely making it back.

1. Whose sword at Andrius domain
2. Only 2 original archons while other 5 got replaced, is this meant there a god before the Tsaritsa. I wonder who attended the gathering in Liyue, the old cryo archon or Tsaritsa.
1.) Wolf's Gravestone, which is the Greatsword of the Knight Of Boreas, who we assume is a legendary knight whose title is passed down through the different generations, with Varka being the current Knight of Boreas.

2. I think it is likely Previous Cryo Archon, as Zhongli's 5th Character Story says "The First Seven" would gather in Liyue Harbor

Theory: so you know how Barbatos wakes up only in important events,(like the Cataclysm, Devalin in monstad and Venssa arc in the manga). I think that Istaroth is telling him or told him when to wake up. That’s about it. I don’t know where to go with this theory but It does make some sense no?❤
I feel for Decarabian to be honest. Like how bad of a tyrant was he when the alternative was to instantly freeze outside from Andrius' blizzards? He may not have been a good leader but he did protect Old Mondstadt. Until Barbatos showed up out of nowhere seemingly already knowing he had a mission to help the nameless bard overthrow Decarabian. His presence was obviously premeditated by someone--whether by Celestia or someone else, we'll find out someday. Also, it's kinda weird that Musk Reef is the entrance to the Spiral Abyss. Only Barbatos has ever touched it, no other literature points to it, it's shaped like a moon, Mondstadt is germanic for "Moon City," there's a cryo whopperflower there that NEVER respawns, and an Anemo monument, the Musk family are hilichurl and Abyss researchers--- the Spiral Abyss is just screaming to want to have something to do with whoever Barbatos really is. There are too many coincidences. Also Venti slept so he's the only one technically not affected by Erosion. Zhongli/Morax and Raiden Ei/Beelzebul are both affected by erosion and have weakened considerably; Nahida/Buer is not affected by Erosion at all but she is still the youngest Archon and is not battle-hardened; Furina is not a god at all; Neuvillette, though strong, is still not a primordial dragon; Murata, well, we know nothing about her, but she did not participate in the Archon war so I'd rather believer she's not as strong as Morax or Raiden; The Tsaritsa no longer has the love of her people... which leads me to believe... BARBATOS IS THE STRONGEST ARCHON. He could either be the greatest storyteller of Genshin Impact or the biggest traitor.
I'd love to see you cover the inazuma artifact sets again in the same way you re-covered bloodstained, namely Emblem of Severed Fate.
And it'd be cool to see you talk about Mondstadt during the cataclysm as a whole.

what Barbatos did after the fight with Durin is not unknown.... Rukkhadevata already told us what the archons did during the cataclysm... after defending their territory all the archons proceeded to Khaenri'ah. this was evidenced by Makoto leaving the defense Inazuma to Ei, Zhongli leaving the defense and sealing of the chasm to the yaksha and milileth and the qixing, and the reason why he did not care for Dvalin after the fight... The hydro archon died on the way to Khaenri'ah in the Vorukasha Oasis. Rukkhadevata, Simurg, The hydro archon, Dain, and the scholars of sumeru were there fighting the abyss when the hydro archon died.
after the hydro archon died Rukkhadevata used her corpse to create the great tree of vorukasha to seal the hole in the sky where the abyss was pouring out. she then used and the soul of Simurg and the power of the hydro archon to create the pari to cleanse the land of sumeru of the filth of the abyss. after making the tree and pari she left the cleaning up to dain and the scholars of sumeru to go to the world tree and defend it from the corruption and monsters. Rukkhadevata then died defending the world tree. knowing her death is near she cloned herself thus nahida was made.
at khaenriah the archons fought but the electro archon was killed. this led to ei becoming the new electro archon and getting instantly summoned to khaenriah where she saw the corpse of makoto. this was also the time when the heavenly principles came down. 3 archons had already died during this time forcing the sustainer heavenly principles to show herself and destroy khaenriah thus ending the cataclysm.
Yes, I'm aware that the Seven were summoned to Khaenri'ah, but my point was that we have no mentions of Barbatos himself going. It's definitely possible, but not explicitly said.
Additionally, the expedition to Khaenri'ah taken by the Knights of Favonius was in response to the Abyssal forces pouring out from the subterranean nation. The Archons would have been summoned to Khaenri'ah at this time, and would have fought with them. Arundolyn lost Rostam during the expedition, and wouldn't fight again. So, when Durin arrived in Mondstadt, there was no one to fight him. The people of Mondstadt prayed to the Anemo Archon to defend them, which is when Barbatos woke up.
He didn't answer the initial call. He may have gone after the fight yes, but again, it's not explicitly stated.
The reason he did not care for dvalin after the fight??? Bro what kind of blasphemy are you shiting 😭 it's very known that after the fight he sent dvalin to slumber before going to khaenri'ah bc he thought he would heal the same way barbatos did but something occurred and dvalin's mind still was corrupted

Barbatos is an Earl and Duke of Hell, ruling thirty legions of demons and has four kings as his companions to command his legions. He gives the understanding of the voices of the animals, says past and future, conciliates friends and rulers, and he can lead men to hidden treasures that have been hidden by the enchantment of magicians. His name seems to derive from Latin "barbatus", bearded, old man, philosopher. He is mentioned in The Lesser Key of Solomon.

I decided to re visit lore, But is it just me who thinks a similar thing may happen with Paimon and Aether? (Or Lumine, depending on who you choose.)
It might be a case of history repeating itself, but there are other beings of the same nature of Paimon, who are just called Paimons if I am correct.. There are different scenarios, where Paimon said she isn't this or that she is just Paimon. It could be possible, that if Aether were to fight, He would fall making Paimon take a similar form to him. Maybe becoming some sort of God, Like a Lex God, A new Element? Lex does mean light, which is the kind of theme going with Aether. Why Lex instead of Light? If you take a look at the other elements of Teyvat, you can see that they are basically the Latin forms of actual elements; Anemo meaning wind, Dendro meaning forest and so on..
It might be a crazy theory, but it could be a case of history repeating itself however with different stories/characters. A Gnosis might not even be necessary, just like with Barbatos.

Ik this might be silly, but i fail to believe that venti is stronger than he says, sure his name is braught up a lot but even so, that was when he still took on the name of anemo archon, and he may have had connection's with isorath, but that was also something of the past, and knowing someone who is powerful doesn't mean you are too, i like to think that venti is equivalent of a MC cuz he's my fav,, but i don't think we should make him out to be what he isint

If barbatos wasn't named just a wind spirit and wind spirits existed ever since the beginning of teyvat then isn't venti older than jhongli? Kuz zhongli isn't from teyvat right? So he had to come later on
He could be, it hasn't been stated when the wind spirits were born. Also as far as we know, Zhongli is from Teyvat.
