- Reflection on my latest video. One that almost killed me! So you want to know how I made a beer commercial in my kitchen come alive? I don't blame you! It all starts with using your imagination and then working out the details as you go. I had an idea that I wanted to explore and in this video you will see how my crazy and unorthodox methods worked to get the final result. There was a few trial and errors, and the main issue was my computer being too slow to handle my idea, but we got there in the end, all from a little setup in my kitchen! Again this just goes to show you don't need the best camera, pro lighting, or even space to make your vision come alive. I've put my all into this video. Late nights, lots of stress, and I've even delayed playing on my Playstation 5 until this video was complete! So maybe you can return the favour, give this video a like, and why not subscribe and hit that bell while you're at it. I love making these videos that show just what can be done without much equipment. I hope they inspire you and push your vision on what can be created at home.
This video shows the steps I take in creating a beer commercial in my kitchen. You don't need a fancy studio, or expensive lighting. Just using what equipment you have around can lead to some epic cinematic shots. Follow along as I show you behind the scenes on creating an epic product commercial. We will look at the equipment used to light and style the shot before heading on into Premiere Pro where we make the actual magic happen.
Showing how you can shoot product commercials with a look into behind the scenes will hopefully inspire you to get your camera out and start shooting.
If you are keen to use similar equipment to what I have shown, all my gear is listed below.

keep making those vids, I am having soooooo fun but at the same time I learn some things about filmmaking while watching your vids. YOU ARE SOOO UNDERATED
Thank you. I will be back with a load more content soon, fingers crossed it'll go down well 👍
I think I'm going to enjoy bouncing along on this RUclips journey with you James 👍. Sorry to hear about the Guinea pigs mate, that sucks.
Thank you. They were getting old though so the time was coming. I feel a little bad making remarks in previous videos how they are still alive and annoying.
Props to you James! I saw on your Instagram story's the rendering pain you were going through but the final result is absolutely mega!
Definitely agree that when you put something out there it gives you the extra drive to get it done because you have to be accountable for it, it works for me too. No one enjoys being called out for saying they were going to do something and didn't haha! I can't wait to see the Christmas ad, I'm sure it'll be epic!
Also sorry to hear about your guinea pigs and I hope your dog (and hand) is doing OK ❤️
I'm worried that now I have put it out there about a Christmas ad, I actually have very little time left to do anything with my workload just come in. It may be an ad I'm not too proud of at this rate.
Sharing your video has been my most popular post on LinkedIn all year!!
I feel your keyframe pain mate, i get stuck on basic pans with it. Cant wait to try the TV effect too.
By the way I quite like the chat to camera, its cool hearing about how you made it. 😂 ED THE DRUMMER BOY!! OMG IM HONOURED!
I agree, the chatty videos are great and give you that personal connection so stop apologising for them! Even if you think they're crap people out there enjoy it because it's relatable 😄
Again I'll just say the last video was a masterpiece. I love the computer screen tip. No idea how I never thought of that before. Good luck shooting with Ed...you might pull some hair out on that one. Sorry to hear about your pets mate :(
Sorry to hear about your pets... Hope your dogs ok? Get well soon! Can't wait for that Xmas video :)
So sorry to hear about your dog awesome work as always!
Keep rocking this platform man! Won’t be long before your hitting the big heights.
Get well soon James 😃
You gotta learn After Effects my man! This type of animation is what it’s built for!
Have just completed a client project in AE, and yeah it wasn't too bad. I did try creating this in AE to make the computer run quicker, but it was just as slow to try render each frame to see the playback preview I just decided to stick with what I know better. It isn't technically hard animation I've done, just turning layers on and off, but the file size was massive as it was layered PSDs being used. It was the keyframes that really killed the computer. Hindsight is a beautiful thing 😂
Ed is a legend. My sub came from him, great videos James, love the simplicity of your films, yet bursting with skill! #youllgofar
I was wondering about your hand. My condolences. Looking forward to the Drummer boy vid. Be well bud
