I just retired my old K55vj mine is the stainless steel model with silver hand rest, it was a good little guy for as long as it lasted I bought a new laptop and ill still be pulling parts from it if I need extra ram/HDD or even the video card/CPU, it lasted me about a good 7 years the only issue with it was the hinge broke and therefore it was just inconvenient 😓,
bought this one. im so happy with the laptop, I was actually surprised with how wide it is. It's not that good in terms on screen quality but it's decent. You really cannot have everything in one laptop.. BUT THIS ONE IS A MUST HAVE.
Nice review. I've had asus devices for a few years and have found them to be pretty will made. I recently bought a K55VD-DB51 which has an i5-3210 and an nVidia 610 video card

I'm getting my self this one - i5, 6gb ram, 500gb 7200rpm for ~800$. Thanks for the review!
Same here. Methinks it is a cheap mic and camera package (as well as the sound card?) If you uncheck noise cancelling in mic properties you get rid of the "voice from the pipe" effect but are left with a horrible background hiss. But people still tell me that my voice is clear on Skype, but I can't bear to listen to my video messages. Have you tested with an external mic yet? Next to do on my list, but have to buy one first. Cheers
I got this laptop as a birthday gift this summer. It costs around between $500 to $600CDN (not including taxes and environmental fees (where available) that your province in Canada levies).
Hi, first of all, great review. I thinking about buying K75VM, bigger version of K55VM. Since they have same design, can you tell me is the laptop at the beggining and the end of review same as the one you actually review, because it looks like K75DE, it looks like it have black lid, touchpad and place for hands? That brown color I saw in review is actually only thing that is stopping me from buying K75VM.
Hi. I bought Asus k55vm sx-102 two weeks ago in Czech Republic. It is version with core i5 and nVidia 630M graphic card. Speakers are above the keyboard and they can be very loud. I think sound quality is good on laptops category. :) I am playing World of Tanks 8.0 (newest patch which has better graphic effects) every day for +- 5 hours in row with 18-20 fps on maximum detail settings. I have NO overheating or shutting down issue. For me it is great laptop for less money. Have a nice day! :)
cool review. I have the similar laptop like yours, but it's the K55A. Only difference is that it has 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive space and Integrated Intel HD graphics. Oh and it also has an Intel i7 Quad-core processor!
Do you recommend this computer for study and some games on mid-high settings (Valve source motor games, skyrim, dirt 3, crysis 2, diablo 3 and so on.) And does it have a good battery time? Great review by the way. :)
(just got this LapTop) Hello Gadgetjm :-) thank you very much for these reviews!!! you are really good. though i think it would be nice to at a little background music... as it makes the hole thing seem more professional :)
thank you for your review. I was looking for a laptop and you helped me a lot. LIKE And I am for Spain and I understand the video, which means that you speak on the correct speed. congratulations
I am very impressed with this laptop. The one with geforce 610m and 3610qm was on sale at bestbuy for 550 dollars. I was looking for something in the 1500 range but this thing had such good value I couldn't pass it up. And the extra 950 in my pocket is also quite happy XD
The asus k55vm also has ivy bridge processor (at least mine does), it is a great laptop, powerful graphics without a doubt and the battery life is excellent I would say for this kind of computers, in Entertainment Mode it lasts for about 3,5 hours and in Battery Saving Mode up to 4-5 hours.. It only overheats a little when gaming, the rest of the time it is silent and cool. The other laptops you mentioned I can't talk about. Hope I helped. Cheers, Dexa
Just bought brand new laptop Asus A55VM (K55). Totally satisfied with this buy! The Specs are: intel core i5 2.50 Ghz/6 Gb DDR3 1600mhz/ GeForce GT630m 2Gb/ 500 Gb 7200rpm. Games i have tried - Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, Starcraft 2. All games run smoothly on high settings. No overheat detect after hours of gameplay. New Ice cool technology helps here a lot i think :) P.s. This laptop has overclock abilities, intel turbo boost and nvidia clockrate change if u install appropriate software
Good review he made, I have mine for almost 2 years now, I read a few bad reviews I guess I was very lucky, I'm happy with mine I bought it new, didn't pay much for it so I didn't expect too much from it and it was a good surprise I'm satisfied, it really stays cool for many hours, very silent. It is true about the speakers they are crap but for £15.00 £20.00 you can attach great speakers to it. For gaming it's pretty good but if you are a heavy gamer i wouldn't recommend it. All in all I have to say it's a great deal for what you pay for it.
guys, i bought this PC yesterday (asus k55vj-sx099h) and i must say that im really happy with it. really fast and not that heavy (2.3 KG) but i noticed 2 things diferent from the one in the video.1- the camera is 0.9Mp and 2 that grill at 3:03 is NOT THE SPEAKERS, instead asus decided to put them under the laptop, which was a stupid decision.. the keyboard is good and the track pad is amazing. the viewing angles are not better or worse than "normal" laptops, and in the sides, their are awesome.
I have something similar to yours to my understanding - I believe that the problem lies to your wireless router. I have a Linksys E2500 wireless router that often reboots itself and it's likely the cause. I haven't tested out the laptop outside of my house - yet.
Hello, nice and usefull review! About overheating problem...I read that was problem mainly in laptops sold in India. Have laptops from other countries this problem too? I read that problem of shutting down was only while playing BF 3 or Crysis 2 on ultra settings, so while playing on medium settings doesn't laptop shut down and everything is ok? And do you know it's problem only for models with core i7 or models with core i5 overheats too? Sorry for my bad english a very thanks for answer! :)
I am deciding between this laptop and an Acer V3 with the same specs excpet for a gt 640m instead of the gt 630m this laptop offers. I am going to use it for gaming. Which one would you recommend? Both laptops come at the same price. Thanks in advance! Very nice review :)
@testacorsa150 funnily enough i have a combination of both models you want (i live in switzerland) i7 8gb ram and nvidia 630m. It will run all games smoothly on high settings from my experience.
Thanks a lot man! I think you are right. I have decided not to get a k series, as the screen isn´t up to scrach. I´m looking for a n56 or n76 now, and i´m just waiting for the right offer :) the n series still has a TN panel, but much much better quality.
Thanks for your reply! I got the one without gpu, but decided to take it back because of the screen, which was horrid! I bit the bullet and got a n76vz instead, but it has a lot of small assembly problems - loose trackad, sticking buttons etc. So I´m a bit lost now - lol
I recently bought the K55VD cause the K55VM was not yet available in our country. Do you think my laptop will be good for gaming? I know that your K55VM would be better.
Hi Mike, got the AMD A8-4500 version of this machine and it its OK for the price (still overpriced here in Japan). You mentioned double 2-finger tapping= right button click. Cant seem to get mine to do that. How to look for a fix? Cheers, mate.
...When it comes to battery life, I can get about 3 hours or more in Entertainment Mode, up to 4 hours I think in Battery Saving Mode and maybe about 1,5-2 hours in High Performance Mode... I haven't tried any "heavy" games yet but I think it runs them really good (I will try MW3 in a few days I think), and about software (photoshop, cinema 4D, sony vegas, etc) and HD videos is great. Cheers, Dexa
i also have a k55vm, and i do a bit of gaming every once in a while. i recommend not lowering the cpu speed, leave it default. instead lower the game settings. i always play in medium and sometimes in high settings, but mostly medium. i don't think having a bit better textures compensates torturing the laptop. it's not meant to deal with the extremely high temperatures a four core cpu can generate, so just lower the settings.
it works great. but if you want to use it for a long time you may want to disconnect the battery from the laptop to prolong the battery's life. As I am typing this comment, I haven't turned off my laptop for about 19hrs now. The aluminim palm rest is a nice feature too because it will not make your palm hot/warm.
85 degres is normal for a laptop CPU. A maximum temperature for a CPU is around 110 degres. In case the laptop is overheating, it will shutdown and begind a cooldown process.
dude, dont blame the audio quality if you go over 100% on the volume nob in VLC... it certainly ruins the soundquality, because VLC is boosting the media's volume
Hi, how much time does it take to charge the battery from 0% to 100%? I really want to buy this laptop and I have been hoping that you will be able to answer my question and help me :)
Hey I just that laptop from walmart I can't wait...I stuck with the 6gb of ram though. I have been trolling the Web for reviews though I could find none which has me a tad worried but it seems like a great laptop if I go by the specs
Is this better than the K55VD? Also would the K55VD be good for alot of web browsing and some games just like minecraft and some other games that aren't crazy demanding?
I just got this laptop, and it isn't failing to impress! I must warn everyone though, if you do what I did, and install Windows 7 on it, you'll have to get all of the drivers that'll work with Windows 7 64bit. (Took my forever to find ones that work) You also have to change a couple small settings in the bios or else it'll hang on the Windows loading screen(With Windows 7)
I bought this laptop today. As i was testing the speakers, i realized the sound seemed muffled. It seems like it comes from the bottom of the machine. Is that right? The speakers aren't suppose to be on top?
Man i Actually just got my k55a-rbr6 witch was the i5 quadcore intelhd version and its freakin amazing i was doing some battery stress tests and i got 3hrs and ten minutes of hd p;ayback with wifi turned of using vlc and still had 30minutes left. Also you should mention that this has the uefi secure boot crap i tried to duel boot ubuntu and it was a pain in the ass i gave up and just did a full install since i never use windows anyway.
I bought one of these 1 week ago and I totally love it for now :)... Specs: Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.30GHz 15.6" (1366x768) LED 6GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB 500GB SATA 5.4K RPM Price: 799€ (in Portugal)...

As far as i can see, the K55VD has more RAM than the K55VM, but the graphics card is significantly slower. I think you would be able to play minecraft but not in the best settings.
I'll be buying the ASUS K55VJ-SX193H I think that the cassing, keyboard and screen are the same but has an i5 dual-core that goes up to 3.2GHz, 6Gb of RAM, 2Gb dedicated NVIDIA videocard and 750Gb screen. I'm buying it in Portugal and it'll cost be about 650€
I am using this laptop even today...i have replaced hdd with SSD ...and till now it is performing just too good ...great machine 👍
Me too. I need to change battery where can I buy it?

Watching this from my ASUS K55vm laptop! amazing laptop, if you are still wondering go buy it!
Really good review!!! I have been looking for a new laptop for a while now, and there aren`t to many good review`s out there.
bought this one. im so happy with the laptop, I was actually surprised with how wide it is. It's not that good in terms on screen quality but it's decent. You really cannot have everything in one laptop.. BUT THIS ONE IS A MUST HAVE.
2021 and this ASUS after a little RAM upgrade still runs well
Will it support 16 GB DDR 4 RAM and what kind of SSD is compatible with this
Nice review. I've had asus devices for a few years and have found them to be pretty will made. I recently bought a K55VD-DB51 which has an i5-3210 and an nVidia 610 video card

Great review. I am thinking about purchasing the K55A-RBR6 and this video helped me make up my mind. You should get a REAL screen recorder though.

Thank you for all

Just bought brand new laptop Asus A55VM (K55). Totally satisfied with this buy!

I miss at the K55-Serie also a Status-LED`s for CapsLock , NumLock and ScrollLock... btw.
yes the speakers are in the bottom, I just noticed this yesterday.
Without any problems, i would expect it to run on max graphics.(Not sure though, but you will certainly play it VERY smooth on low)
very nice review, helped me in my decision to buy it

Very nice review sir.
Nicely shown all the pros and cons. Thank you so much! :)
Im getting this laptop with 1TB hard drive and a blu-ray drive and im sure the battery life is about 5 hours depending on what your doing
yes! i got one ages ago and its the best thing i ever bought
Ah, it was an easy fix :-) Great review, now watching this from my ASUS K55vm :D

p.s: Love your videos and reviews :)
comprehensive details buddy..very helpful thanks
The K55 family also has AMD APU based models. The K55N.
Also, would u mind lettin' me know how the laptop performs & such whenever urs arrives? Thanks.

So I take it you would be able to run battlefield 3 with medium/high graphics? Please make another video testing a few more games :)
Depends on what game you want to play and on what settings. Its a good gaming laptop when you want to play medium settings.
I recently bought the K55VD cause the K55VM was not yet available in our country. Do you think my laptop will be good for gaming? I know that your K55VM would be better.
there is one important thing you did not mention...the chipset used in this does not support raid :(

Hey dude, how are the speakers? Are they good? I couldnt understand you- did you say better ot badder?

the K53SV has a sandy bridge processor, while the K55VM has a ivy bridge, which has more performance and more battery life
hey, by the way, can you do the full review of the k55 on your channel?
Oh okay, thanks for the info and the heads up!!
dude, dont blame the audio quality if you go over 100% on the volume nob in VLC... it certainly ruins the soundquality, because VLC is boosting the media's volume
And does the touchpad recognize difference between thumb and handpalm? :) thx in advance - greetings from Holland
awesome review, case close, I will buy this, cool.
Can it run modern games?
you have such a fast internet connection.. I'm so jealous..
you played youtube 2k video like it was a breeze..
Thanks for the detailed review.
Thanks a lot, nice review, good work!
Smooth reading from the guy behind the camera :)))))
hows the laptop dear...
2022 After upgrade it with an ssd drive and a wifi ac + bluetooth antenna it still works perfectly although it no longer runs any current games.
Do you have any heat problems in load? Is it suitable for long usage without shutting down? I don't want to burn my fingers.
Great, I have been tryin' to find reviews for it as well but not havin' much luck argh. I'm still lookin' forward to this laptop tho =P
What would you recommend as an alternative to Asus K55 then? I mean which laptop to choose from the same (more or less) price category?
Where did you order/buy it? I really want this one but I haven't seen any site with this laptop.. :/
@commentator398 yes, i use it daily to play minecraft and it runs everything on the highest settings about 120fps on mine
Hi, how much time does it take to charge the battery from 0% to 100%? I really want to buy this laptop and I have been hoping that you will be able to answer my question and help me :)
in video review u mentioned 7200 RPM HDD...but in ur website review u mentioned 5400 RPM.....which one is correct?
Hey I just that laptop from walmart I can't wait...I stuck with the 6gb of ram though. I have been trolling the Web for reviews though I could find none which has me a tad worried but it seems like a great laptop if I go by the specs
Would you recommend it? Im looking for a cheap laptop to game d3, hon, maybe some future rpgs...
(Took my forever to find ones that work)

Thanks man :) You helped me a lot ! I am going to buy it :)
I bought this laptop today. As i was testing the speakers, i realized the sound seemed muffled. It seems like it comes from the bottom of the machine. Is that right? The speakers aren't suppose to be on top?
Excellent review.
I just bought it to my girl, I'm waiting for deliver.
Of course, the pink version :)
What do you thing about the computer ?
Do you thing that the pc can handle with the games that pull more for pc?
Sveikas, as irgi galvoju pirkti toki kompiuteri. Gal patarsi kur pigiau galima nusipirkti ir kad kokiu keblumu nebutu?
I don't know where you can get info about it. I checked speakers position in showroom before buy.
I bought one of these 1 week ago and I totally love it for now :)...
Specs:
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.30GHz
15.6" (1366x768) LED
6GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB
500GB SATA 5.4K RPM
Price: 799€ (in Portugal)...
Espetáculo! Também estava curioso acerca da bateria, porque queria transportá-lo. Acho que vou mesmo comprá-lo! :)
how did you fix the shutting down problem in k55vm? they say its a thermal problem
Do you also have the proble that the network-card is damaged?
I'm planning to buy the same laptop and I saw these problem from people in india, I would know too if the problem exist in all K55VM series or it's only in those sold in india, I'm gonna use it for my job, and to play games too !
Hi, I just wondered if this Laptop can run Arma 2 and maybe Arma 3 when that comes out.
Thanks! :).
I have a question..I am a programmer and I'm thinking to buy a new computer.
Although this one's little cons, it seems really good.
Whold you think that it could serve me for target like this ? Is it really very good?
Glad if you will help me..
Can I ask about battery? How long is it work during normal use, office etc. ?
How does the i5 version of this laptop do? Is the i5 and i7 version similar in specs?
As far as i can see, the K55VD has more RAM than the K55VM, but the graphics card is significantly slower. I think you would be able to play minecraft but not in the best settings.
Do you think this laptop has the capability to play demanding games like Battlefield 3? If so, would it have to be played with lower quality?
Im going into highschool, and was looking for an academic laptop? Would you recommend this k55a?
thanks for reviewing!
I'm buying it in Portugal and it'll cost be about 650€
Very Nice Review; thumbs up !
