When I was a kid I desperately wanted this toy. I was also a huge fan of the incredible Hulk TV series, watching it religiously and playing with my school buddies. I was always Bruce Banner/Hulk, not because I was a big kid, but because I have green eyes and they came into play well when I was "transforming" into the Hulk. I'm 53 years young and I still want this piece. You did an amazing job restoring the box. Congratulations! Long time viewer of the channel. This is my first response to one of your videos. Thank you for all the wonderful videos you've posted, taking me back to all the fun toys from my childhood.
Fantastic job on restoring the box! I'm a life-long Hulk fan who has since gone on to draw several Hulk comics for Marvel UK, and one of my favourite childhood memories is the Christmas I got this (I also had the Space Ranger Action Man and Gargon that year as well!). I was always gutted that the Thing version wasn't released over here, as the battles that I could have had with those two! 😃 Thank you for posting this video... it's brought back some awesome childhood memories 👍
I'm a lifelong Hulk fan. My father bought me this Rage Cage Hulk from a flea market in NJ in the early 1980s. My absolute favorite toy ever. Also, I own your 2008 Hero Initiative hand drawn (Red) Hulk blank cover variant.
@@purplepantscomicsnj resident here. In the late 80s I found one of these hulks in a field in somerset county. All beat to crap with most paint gone and pump gone. Glad I found the video so I could see what it would have looked like in its glory.
Man, I'm not even a sealed box collector but seeing the rage cage box like that kinda hurt. But as a zlennial this toy looks so friggin cool, that just looks like good old fashioned fun.
The only thing that could have made this video any better would be old footage of a four - or five year old Tony in his backyard turning into the Hulk. Great video, sir.
Excellent content, I wish there was more repair tutorials combined with review content. As a vintage collector, finding repair content on certain aspects of figures can be tough. This was very well done and makes me want to restore a box I have of my own.
Found two of these loose with no accessories in the wild over the 90's. Took until the internet age to find out what it was. Thanks for the vid. Always entertaining 👌
Excellent restoration video! Even though I have worked with cardboard and cardstock since childhood, I have NEVER attempted to restore old toy packaging. Most of the time, I would cut out the pictures on the box to either hang up in my room or use as materials for another build. Again, your video is Just beautiful!
Never seen this toy but can imagine back In the day it would have captured my imagination too. I will be attempting a box restoration soon so thanks for the useful guidance
Man, the Smash-Out Handcuffs are actually pretty ingenious. A simple addition that makes the play feature noticeably better. I can see kids spending all weekend finding things for Hulk to smash as he bursts the handcuffs. Great vid as always!
Great job on the box Tony. I've done lots of vintage box restoration work and when it comes to the ironing process, I use brown baking paper instead of a tea towel, it works perfectly, allows more heat in to flatten it and will not allow any sticking of the iron. I also spray cold water from a spray gun directly onto the inside of the cardboard, it won't harm it if you're ironing it straight away through the baking paper. Lastly, if you have less severe ripped parts inside, I suggest using brown water activated tape to shore it up. It's perfect for the job of reinforcing old boxes and it's the same colour as the inside of the box too, so is perfect, particularly if you're doing the flaps where you will see the new card applied when you're opening it. Everyone has a method to this and there is no wrong or right way, but that above after about 30 box restos is the way I've now found works best. Great video, box restos really are a favourite of mine to watch, something cool about seeing an old tatty 50 year old piece of cardboard come back to life.
Im 44 and we had this at my child care centre when I was about 5, it became my holy grail because of the nostalgia, I got just the figure about three years ago, a complete version was just way out of my price range, still happy I have the figure anyway
That box restoration was a great idea for a video. I would have just looked at that damaged box and done a "is what it is" shrug, the improvement is immense.
Love Hulk - he was my fayv go to hero character back in the day, too! Something about the Bronze age and the toy merch that went with it gives me the warm fuzzies. The whole superhero to toy market was so clunky, and hadn't been streamlined and corporatised yet.
I recently restored a Zartan box for display, but based on your techniques, I think I can actually do a better job now. Thanks, Tone. Great video. Love this era of Hulk also. Such lovely rich graphics on the packaging in those days.
I remember seeing the Hulk Rage Cage at a Woolworth’s back in the late 70’s. I unfortunately didn’t get it but I got the 12 in. Mego Hulk figure instead. Great review..
Incredible video my friend! Always love tuning in! So glad how great the restoration went for you as well! (I know it’s an extra good video when even the girlfriend enjoys it)
What a beautiful restoration. There no way I could do something like that. I remember watching that show back in day but I never had any of the toys. Still the toys look great
You'd be surprised what you could do with a little practice. Maybe consider giving it a try with a box that you don't care about (maybe a cereal box or something) and build up your confidence.
This was a great trip down memory lane. I had a friend across the street that was a couple of years older, and he had this toy. I loved playing with it. He had the one you have with the wrist "chains". Great to see that box squared up and restored. It really improved the display and overall look. I have a couple of Kenner Star Wars boxes that could use some attention.
I'm a fellow British child of 1977, and only recently found your channel, really love the content and your collection brings back so many fond memories - Action Man, Action Force, Star Wars and He-Man were my favourites back then your enthusiasm and genuine love of toys from our era is great. I have a question, in terms of your collection what are the key items you are still hunting for?
That question isn't easy to answer. There are loads of things I'm chasing. One item I've been looking for a lot lately is the 18 inch tall Kenner Alien from 1979.
@@AnalogToys I had one as a child, somewhere I have the old polaroid of it next to my 12" Boba Fett. Alas my mother thought it was too scary and one day it disappeared. I regret not buying one 10 years ago when they were a few hundred £, outrageously expensive now for a good one.
52 Year old English guy, don't remember seeing that as a kid but all my focus was on Lego + Star Wars at the time, does seem a bit '5 min wonder' like you kindly said [for kids playing] Top job on the box restore, think I'd let it have a good dry after the ironing stage/before gluing though
Incredibly informative - you might want to separate the restoration part of the video from the Hulk Toy review, because it's a valuable piece of hobby how-to.
Great new Hulk video, Tony. I can clearly remember my Mum buying me one of the Rage Cage Hulk's, back in the day, through her Great Universal catalogue. Sadly, after only a few attempts, ( and I suppose overinflation ) my Hulk stopped working and my Mum sent it back for a full refund. " What A Pisser! " 🤣
I always wanted to try this but always chickened out lol. But after watching this I feel much more confident! Great video Sir and thank you, I happily subscribed!
I had a toy exactly like this as a child, except it was the Fantastic Four's Thing, and instead of a rage cage it was a stone prison. I want to say it was called The Thing Breakout, or something like that.
Traditionally painted toy box art is a dying art. I remember I used to save all the cardbacks of all my Matchbox Roadblasters in a paper bag because I really love the neon airbrushed art. Sadly they were forgotten and lost. =(
As a 53 year old who grew up in the 70s, 80s I can’t tell you how much I love these videos. It brings me back to a better time in my life.
Also 53, also agree with all of that dude🙌🏻

Had the pump up Hulk in the 70s and a stretch arm strong type Hulk..never seen a glowing eye Hulk though
Dog bless you Tony, Gracie, Keith, Neil. 🐩🙏
Sorting out the box reminds me if turning cereal boxes into forts and bases for action figures. 🖖🙂
I've had custom acrylic cases made for some of my vintage boxed toys (think of the hard-stacks made for Funko Pop!s).
