Some people would say Quintrex welding was done in a back yard. There’s a joke in Australia that states if you own a Quintrex your best friend will an aluminum welder!.
Grandpa spent 15 years building a 38ft sailboat in his front yard. It was huge. He bought a ferrow cement hull, raw unfit in the early 70s? late? Around there. He was a woodsman and had worked for Weyerhaeuser since the days of waterboys which he was at the age of 12. A amazing self taught man. Had headed out on a train at 11 ran away from the east coast and ended up in Southern Oregon. The boat was his passion and the woodworking of the interior was ( no words) . He used tapered shims and tapered dowls to hold the entire thing together. Just old school to the max!! Just a sight! If anyone knows where the VIDA MAE ? May? Originally out of coos Bay Oregon where's it was christened I'd value knowing!!!! Anyways just hit my rewind button and I thank you. Ps I'm a welder fitter used to work for cat and it's always great to watch great processes. Quality guy's quality product!
For the second time (original build was an 80' sailboat) , I watched the three years construction process of a 100' sail sloop cruiser made of multiple layers of mahogany plywood cross laminated with a finished fiberglas exterior in a backlot in California. Christened in 1998, this spring 2023 it just had its hull fully scanned twice with zero delaminations and 100% certified, getting the rigging and instrumentation recertified and hopeful for sea trials early summer. Amazing craftsmens, brilliant but simple instructions to inspections by a New Zealand architect & ship builder.
Can you call something homemade if there is a production line and specialized industrial tools? I don't think most peoples homes constitutes a shipyard.
The craftsmanship of the boat that the group of guys are building . (( Is simply Out Standing in every way possible !!" )) I have enjoyed watching this video . . Keep up the good work !!"
Impressive !!! Can you believe that 3000 years ago similar boats and size were made with wood, roppe, tree resin and not a single metal nails. Still a great looking boat !!! Congrats...
All the same, for the case, I would use a thicker aluminum 2 millimeters thicker. Or stainless steel. It is immediately clear that the boat is not made for themselves, but for sale. For myself, all mechanically loaded elements and elements with a high risk of mechanical damage (ice, stones) I would make stronger and more reliable. Yes, this is extra weight and fuel loss, but I will live with it - my priority is durability, trouble-free operation, mechanical reliability of the structure in critical situations.
I worked in an environmental lab for years and I suggest you run fresh air to your mask to ensure a cleaner air supply because I doubt your cartridge or filter housing container will deliver satisfactory results. The best may be initial contaminant removal with new filters or media but NO ONE I know of changes it at the required or saturated intervals . GOOD LUCK and enjoy a long life !
Perhaps you have a shop/factory in your ten-bay garage that could do this. Most of us probably don't. If that is homebuilt, what would you call the Titanic?
That homemade looks so Industrial even the place its being built looks so factory setting or maybe the one building it lives in the factory..the factory is their home hahahaha😅
The Home made Aluminium boat build is using more equipment and manipulates than I had when working as a welder fabricator building as large fabrications. All we had was 10 ton overhead cranes and flat beds plust MMA welding sets.
Love how rich people try to pretend like they're just regular old people. Like their money is nothing and what they're doing is all them it's. All their effort they're so smart they're so educated they have so many skills and that's why they can do it and if we only had that we. Could do it too. But the truth is. It's just a dude that paid a bunch of money for supplies and is able to put it together in a warehouse that builds boats that's not. Homemade. Enough of this.
At the beginning of the video, until 2'08, that was light metal, wasn't it? Some time ago I had built a steel motor yacht of my own design, but only feet long. Interior in teak plywood. This is great work from professionals. 😋👍👍
Totally looks homemade, that’s an impressive shed they have there. The way they welded that wood together, epic carpentry.
Homemade if you live in a Boat Factory.
:D
thats a typical size back yard shed here in NYC. what can i say, land is cheap out here.
nouw i can see why people get kids, so they help you building your homemade wood boat
Homemade at a metal fab shop lol
Great homemade wood boat. I’ve been meaning to learn how to weld wood
Heat control is essential when welding wood. Definitely don't want to get it too hot.
got some oak in the rod dryer
the way they are welding all that shiny wood together is totally amazing.
Mom polished up those wood nicely.
I dont think you understand the word homemade... it looks like you are in a factory with multiple workers, a fab shop, all the tools...
Besides it seems like the wooden boat is a replica of a historic Viking boat being built with the technology of its time.
These are all highly skilled workers.
Maybe he actually lives in this factory??
Some people would say Quintrex welding was done in a back yard. There’s a joke in Australia that states if you own a Quintrex your best friend will an aluminum welder!.
and its aluminum, I forget but isnt that a very expensive type of wood?
I came for the aluminum boat build but stayed to watch the master carpenters in their element. Thats a lot of skilled tradesman 🤙🏻

Those welders really know how to make a wood boat
Wunderschön, das letzte Boot! 😍
Auch das riesige Drachenboot ist sehr beeindruckend! 😎👍

I don't think most peoples homes constitutes a shipyard.
Huh must be a new concept that a home build entails a 1000sq foot factory . Interesting take on “ home build “ .
What are you, poor or something?
@@ranch_enthusiast why ask that?
LMAO! I was thinking this 'home' has some amazing industrial lathes and CNC machines for their DIY tools!
@@johne3735 😊😅😅😅
.😊
at least they follow industry standard safety requirements on their DIY projects.
In my New York City apartment I have a folklife, spray painting room, machine, welding, metal cutting machine and boat floating machines
Bet this guy is one of the best welders in the world as much welding he does on an 8 hr basis
This is amaazing, how you manage to weld that shiny wood!
OH YEAH!!!!! THIS IS MY NEIGHBORS GARAGE!! Yep!!!! Just like a fantastic carpenter with many years of woodworking under his belt.
Wow amazing job 😊
where is the boat from the thumbnail???? clickbaait
You can see it in the clickbait section.
This is a homemade process on planet Mars.
Im Bolermaker Welder from Sénégal 🇸🇳 Nice job
Home made wooden boat was definitely misleading, but it was pretty interesting anyways
A very interesting HOMEMADE WOOD boat by Quintrex
Great. I will do this in my kitchen after I finished work today
it boggle the mind how they managed to make boats and ships in the past before the industrial age.
If this is home made I can't imagine a factory, amazing.
Million dollar home shop right there .SVseaker was home built great videos .
Homemade means something different.
The term you need to use is:
Hand made.
Or
Hand crafted.
great video but about as far from homemade as you can get, it is clearly being made in a small factory setting.
I’m going home right now to build a homemade wooden boat out of metal.
😮I just imagine how they did it just like this before our technology it’s so cool watching it and think about what they were doing
Wow I wish my garage was as big as this, looks almost like a factory.
That's some pretty shiny wood!
The craftsmanship of the boat that the group of guys are building .

Ah yes the home shop, complete with forklift and production tooling

This house is very similar to a full-fledged shipyard. I don't think it is possible without such equipment at home.
It's just like the boat I built in my garage with old pallets.
That is some really metallic looking wood being put together in that amazing “home” that looks exactly like a huge metalwork shop
This is not homemade construction. This is a process carried out by highly qualified people in boat manufacturing plants :)
Wow Norwegian wood work!
I used to work for Hardanger Jakt in Norheimsund back in 1989.
😅and just wanted to remind you that when we’re on the ocean it only held together with is wood glue and pegs 😅very cool video
i wish that was my home, so i could home make things on an industrial scale.
Yaaah.... I totally have an overhead crane in my garage......😁😁

The most unusual looking " wood" I've ever seen.

Are they use 2 mm or 3 mm steel ?
Come on guys !! Lufy is going to pick up his ship next day
Quintrex have been knocking up boats in their backyard for over forty years, probably sold 100000 backyard boats by now .
Love to see how they made the big wood-ship🤗
So amazing creativity hand work
Thats one big home!!!!!
Wow,, truely beautiful❤enjoy 😊

Most cartridges are only good for one shift , read the fine print , rate of exposure.👍
his home is bigger than 1000 workers factory and has more tools than conventional metal smith shops.
Title would be more accurate as,’homemade boat hewn from raw materials mined in the garden, built with just turkey baster and children’s toys.”
impressive skilled tradesmen. I was a bit let down when I realize it's was not a Vikings boat. 😂

Handmade not homemade. 😁
I owned a wooden boat once, i now own an aluminum boat that i pull out of the water after every trip, much better
The changes you make will make your future travels safer and more reassuring, and you'll be thankful for it all,🤣
That looks about as home made as the CPU in my computer. It might be handmade, but I've never seen anyone with a home work shop that extensive.
psst thats not a wood boat and its not homemade, but cool nevertheless🙂
I'm not crying you are! Why do so many people get to be awesome and do awesome things?
Because they put the effort and time in it?
Also what is so awsome about welding?

Homemade. Well, yes. Because everyone has a boat shop in their backyard.
ill take two of those after i win the looter tonight ?
That craftsmanship is of different level. It's not for laymen. Fabulous work.
Homemade? Yeah right I just finished my DIY F-35 fighter jet project at my back yard as well.
So this is a "homemade" boat..? That's quite the home...

I lov those aluminum boats. But thats some skilled labor to weld it together. And the big ole dragon boat, not a lot of sales for that. But cool.
Exactly what about this is "Homemade?" This place doesn't look like my backyard shop.
Really a great job.Good luck.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but this is not a homemade boat process.
Vraiment superbe! Merci du partage. Stéph.
Wow, that wood sure looks alot like Aluminum.
Aluminum is the new wood!
