I bought this driver recently after a price drop, my first brand new club purchase. Feedback from players & reviewers on the G410's forgiveness on off center strikes as well as ball speed & distance numbers helped sell me on it. I hit the Callaway Maverick Max & the G410 at the golf big box store, walked away with the PIng. Playing it for 2 months now, performs as advertised and I love it.
Great review Rick, with some great photography. The G410 is a class driver from a class company! Just to clarify the reason why PING have not released an LST or MAX version yet is down to their policy that they cannot release a new product unless the engineers can demonstrate that is better than the previous model. At present they cannot improve upon the current LST or MAX models. Now that's Class
Another Grade A review, Rick! It’s amazing to me how manufacturers keep making drivers that are more aerodynamic, higher launching AND lower spinning! Looks like another winner for PING. But I do agree with you....no need for other G410 driver heads. They could have achieved everything with the head you tested. Great work! You’re the BEST! 👍
Just bought it this year. Draw weight helps adjust my natural fade and keep my drives straighter than my old Callaway. Very happy with it. Found it on sale for $430CAD, so I’m loving the value as well.
Picked up my G410 this morning after years of playing with a Ping 'Anser'... I've trawled through hours of reviews for the last 18 months because It's the first time I've ever bought a new driver and narrowed it down to the G400 max and the G410. Will have to say that after legging it to the range during work hrs to get 50 balls in to try it out I'm still a bit speechless as to how much it improved my driving. Out of 50 balls I must have hit 35 bang centre of the fairway and after checking the face of the club was literally striking the ball from all over the clubface. I set it to the draw bias as I have a tendancy to go way right but I almost couldn't hit it off line even with bad shots, it's freekin outstanding! I wouldn't say I noticed a big gain in distance as I can drive up to 310yds with my Anser but in 50 balls I would find the fairway probably 15/20 times. If your thinking of buying it ... TRY IT!!! I'm chuffed to have not spent out and picked one I didn't get on with so well. Looks awesome, Sounds like gunfire, goes the distance and finds the fairway and hopefully a truly massive leap for my game.... AWESOME!!!
Rick, please continue with your videos. Thanks for not being brand bias. Just sticking to performance and numbers. Which makes me more informed as a consumer where to spend my money. Yes I do test. You are definitely a PGA teaching professional. From driver to putter your videos have helped my game tremendously. Thanks again. Dean🇺🇸
It's cool to see that the weight adjustment actually does something and isn't just a gimmick. I've never actually tried adjusting the weight on any club yet, but this review makes me think I should try it.
One thing I don't like is the weight is only adjustable by 3 positions, center, full fade setting and full draw setting. Would like to have seen it be able to set anywhere on the track.
Would also be interesting for him to put his absolute best averages and which driver they came from, and showing how each driver stacks up to his best averages.
One of the most important numbers for any of these tests has to be smash factor? If that number is not consistent then surely it’s not giving a true showing of what the driver can do. For me what would be more interesting rather than distance(because we know all these new drivers are very similar in performance) would be to see the numbers on 5 good shots, and 5 bad shots. What is the SF on a toe and heal strike, is there still good performance or a drop off
I finally got a chance to hit a whole bunch of new drivers just last week on a simulator. I hit the Callaway, Titleist, Taylormade, and they were all great. But then I hit G410 and I now know what driver I want to buy if I can afford it next season. It felt better, sounded better, looked better, and was just so consistent for me. I fell in love instantly. Carrying further than anything else I tried, most consistent flight, just amazing for me...
Just got fitted for the PING G410 + and fell in love immediately. Tried M5/M6, Epic Flash/SZ, Cobra F9 and it wasn't even close accuracy wise. The fitter put it in the fade setting and I felt like DJ hitting power 5 yard fades. Definitely ask to try this one out if you're in the market for a new driver. In case anyone is curious the M6 would've been 2nd place but it wasn't close.
Great review Rick, my mate just forked out on the 410 SFT as he has a wicked slice every third shot. He will be trying to outdo my F9 now, have a good year. Cheers
I work at a golf course. Last night I grabbed a 410 from the pro shop and played 9 holes with it. It was a 10.5 degree and regular shaft and the weight was in the fade position. No practice... straight to the first tee. On my first couple of warm up swings I got the sensation that is swings a bit faster than my normal driver with the same effort (may there's something to aerodynamics). With my regular driver (Cleveland), I've really been struggling lately spraying the ball all over. The first shot with the 410 was right center of the fairway and about my normal distance. I hit it 6 times in 9 holes and every one was nearly dead straight, high and of normal or greater distance for me. I've been playing for over 30 years and I've never held a driver that was so easy to hit. I definitely want to hit it some more to see if it was just a fluke or if this thing really fits me well.
Ping have already addressed the G400 Max; they will not be replacing it this year. They said they are unable to improve that driver in any significant way at this point. I totally agree with you on the SFT not really needing to be another model.
I tested the Ping G410 SFT today in a stock stiff shaft and compared the numbers to my regular stock shaft TaylorMade M4 (both drivers at 10.5 degree loft). The numbers for me were very similar on both drivers. I ended up sticking to my current M4 driver. For those who are slicing the ball and having difficulty keeping their golf ball in play, the Ping G410 SFT is a good driver to help you out. However, another Rick Shiels video that was recently uploaded showed that spending money on golf lessons help more with your golf shots, and I would have to agree with him. So if you want to have a better shot and keep your ball in play, I would highly recommend getting some lessons.
Rick, could you please make a video, where you test some Adjustable Drivers blind, with someone else, Pete, changing the weights and then comparing the difference in ball flight?
No one ever mentions that the trampoline effect on these drivers needs a clubhead speed way over 100MPH to get the benefit.Rick gets that but most of us don't - therefore the pros are benefiting and we are not. They maybe more forgiving and that is a blessing but longer I think now.All drivers are probably two inches longer for a start than say 20 years ago and that has a bigger effect than all the twaddle they spout on about. My Titleist 905 goes as far as any new driver I have hit - I challenge Rick to prove me wrong !
Rick, great video, very informative and great points both Pro and Con. I would like to offer some constructive criticism if I may. Your videos are some of my favorite on RUclips by miles. Good content and frequency of posts, granted, I am a golf nut. However, please don’t get to “Click Baity”. What I mean by that is don’t cheapen your content to encourage clicks. I know you make money off of this, so the temptation to drive ‘views’ is huge and important. Just remember, this kind of content is what made you popular and one of the best reviewers in the golf game, period. I point at just your last Video, the Taylor Made M5 ‘Monster Mode’, that is pure click bait to drive more views to your channel. I just think that the core fans of your channel may not be into that too much and it could drive them away (Pun fully intended). I could be completely wrong, but let’s let the views and likes tell the story, you are on track to have more likes on this video than the M5 one with less views. But I also think that this one will get more views overall just like the review right before the M5 vid. I love the gear reviews, the course vlogs need to come back, and more competitions between you and other players would be great too. Please know this is only meant to be helpful and not mean spirited in anyway. All the best.
some quick things that got brought up. 1. dragonfly is not about arrow dynamics, it is about taking weight away from the crown, it is basically the same thing has a carbon crown. 2.the reason they didn't come out with an LST is it was really hard to make a driver better then the LST, and they didn't feel the need to come out with a new driver was wasn't any better then the old one. 3. the reason the weighting system is like that is because every other movable weigh system lowers MOI due to the track being inefficient, ping didn't want to have movable weights until they could have movable weights while increasing moi . 4. the SFT model has is a more extreme draw bias, and is also slightly closed.
After thinking it all over with much reflection I decided to go with the Ping G 410 S.F.T. driver with the regular shaft. I do extremely well with my Ping G 410 S.F.T. Woods that I decided to stay with it for the driver. Its working quite well. Spider Dubiel
Just bought this driver at a price point of $399.00 Well worth the money and thanks for the review! Why do you like the SpeedZone Extreme over this? Hit this way better the the Cobra so I bought this and saved some money!
Well rick shiels ,,,, I have the the 410 it's a great driver everything u could want from a driver,,, but you were right about the holes not having a cover cap in the draw and fade settings,,,, dirt got in there during play(not knowing it's in there) I switched the weight to the draw setting heard a little dirt grinding and 1 turn later the screw snapped off in the port. Gosh darnet if that didn't blow.... had to take the shaft screw out of another head to finish the round,,, that 16 gram weight is vital to that driver,,,,, lucky for me I bring 2 drivers to my practice rounds. Thanks for the jinx ,,,, I really did laugh when that happened immediately thought of you and what u said.
Wicked vid, gotta say, I’m getting LOADS of adverts on your channel now. I’ve tried this driver and for me it performed better than the cobra which was a shock.
I’m curious too. He did seem more enthusiastic about it but maybe just because the F9 is more of an improvement on its predecessor? Crown shapes have some similarities. Head to head test Rick?
I agree about the weights, the Cobra F9 does it all and is still my favorite driver and haven't seen anything that would make me change, especially when the prices are so high.
Been playing with mine now for a year. Awesome driver! So impressed I got a G410 3 wood & couple of hybrids, they’re just as good. Compliment my AP2 irons 👍🏽 Thanks for the review Rick
Just bought this today in the low spin model. With a quick head speed, definitely did much better than the sim max, the new cobra, maverick, and the ts1. Can't wait to try this on the range
I been using the G400 Max, today I tested out the G410 Plus. It was super straight, never hit anything this straight lol. Thought I want to change from Ping to TaylorMade, Titleist, or Mizuno, but I guess Ping fits me better.
Just been fitted for one, the adjustable lie is great for me being bent over due to a muscle problem, gained on smash factor, ball speed and 20 yards on length [do not hit far so great percentage] Have ordered one and a 5 wood with a 3 wood shaft to gain on length, again with the adjustable lie angle, hopefullt to reach a few more holes in regulation.
Just bought one, demo model from pro shop and had it set up by the pro. I still fade/slice the ball despite the weight being in the 'draw position but overall its a nice driver, forgiving and adds 15-20 yards to my old fashioned Big Bertha.
I went to the Ping G410 launch... the reason why they have not released a SFT and LST yet is that they haven't created one the outperforms the G400 substantially enough to release it. That's why only the stock model has been as that is the only model made that outperforms the current version.
Thanks Rick for the great review seems more expensive in the states compared to $400 last year...thanks for the g400 max comparison with the numbers from last year!
Have tried, bought, returned many drivers for one reason or another, and in the end Ping is the one that stays in the bag. Will surely get fitted for the G410, just to verify the driver is worthy of the extra $50.
Glad i didn't get the G400 and waited - This looks fantastic - best driver ive seen this year so far and the numbers speak for themselves. Now with the ability to change to a FADE setting and the SFT model i think its the complete package. I'm sure the dollars are high but i don't change drivers every few years so being that it will stay in the bag for years i think i will get one. How much better can they really get - I think that's the level now - really do you really think you will get another 10 yards with any model over the next 5 years. Total Package Ping very nice.
I owned a G400 Max Driver. There was no doubt that it was a fantastic Driver. However, when playing a Drive into the wind, it seemed to stall in the air and quite a lot of distance was being lost. I’ve now got a G410 Plus and This doesn’t happen so much as it penetrates through a head wind very well and less distance is lost. They’ve tweaked small things on this Driver, which has made it a much better and more Driver.
Great club review as always. Not sure the changes justify the increased price tag (£100 more than G400 Max currently goes for at £350). Going to be looking for a new driver this year, but personally I think I'm more excited about any potential price reduction to the G400 Max as a result of a new model been released :)
I can see the adjustability of the driver has at least one issue, being that there are only 3 positions to use. Other drivers allow weight placement anywhere along the track, and then locking it down. If you are looking to correct a small fade, moving the weight to the 'Draw' position can now generate a problem with over cooking the draw. and turning it into a hook. I have a 2017 M1, and found moving the weight slightly over to the 'fade' side of the track has actually created much more solid and centred strikes. Problem is I am a slicer/fader, and the weight should actually be on the draw side to 'cure' my issue.Maybe more players should try this counterintuitive adjustment and see if their drives improve?
I agree with you the sound is terrible very tinny. When I crack a good driver I love the sound. I wouldn’t enjoy driving with that tin noise on a good shot
Thank you Rick for an awesome video. I have watched your videos on the new TaylorMade Sim drivers and the new Callaway Maverick drivers. I love your honesty on them. Ping now has $100 off on the g410 driver which I am planning to purchase tomorrow and this video really helps. It looks as though the numbers on this driver are better than the new drivers coming out, so I will be taking the $100 savings and buying other equipment such as golf gloves and balls etc. in addition to this driver. Thanks again!!
I'm glad ping did a split version so that when LST and max replacements come out they are better than previous versions unlike some others who claim to have two year cycles but are really just putting out a new one every year
Interesting listening whilst you were testing on the course to the different sounds on impacts, depending where the camera 🎥 was positioned it sounded like 4 different clubs
Rick, This club must be fitted correctly for you. Your 1.45 smash factor for your driver is great. You hit it longer at 112 mph, with a great center strike. You are working on your delivery tempo excellent results!
Can you get additional tungsten back weights and what would happen if you put 1 weight in neutral the position and another in the draw position at the same time.....?
I just picked one of these up today. Had the SIM Max for a couple months and just haven’t had much luck with it. So I traded it in for the 410. The first thing that got me was the slight draw in the hitting bay I was getting. Hopefully get out next week for some course time with this gem. Thanks for the video!
G400 MAX is also a little left side biased and one can alleviate missses to one side of the fairway with the moveable weight. Plus the ability to have a flatter lie angle gives one the ability to mitigate left side misses.
So one con I just looked at is that the adjustable weight only has 3 selections. It would have been nice where you can put it in any spot because a very small adjustment can mean a lot
Great review Rick. I will have to try the 410. I already tried the Epic Flash, M5 and M6 compared to my M2, none of them wow’ed me. The numbers did not show any significant increase. I will look for the 410 to hit next. Cheers
I’ve just started to play again and am about to put together a full bag from putter to driver. I’ve always loved drivers that sound like a bullwhip when they are smashed, I’m between the G410, TS3 and the M5. Unfortunately where I live there are very few places where you can go test these drivers, of those drivers listed which would you say are the most like a bull whip/ sounding like the ball vaporized when it is hit? Obviously that’s not going to be the only thing that matters lol but it is a big factor for me if I’m going to be spending hundreds of dollars for a single club. Great video like always Rick 👍🏾
Keep waiting for the LST review, but I feel like this channel has lost a little bit of the review side sadly there were a lot of clubs I was excited to see you review from mizuno wood line to Honma. Still one of my favorite channels to watch! Just miss seeing some of the classic Rick Shiels reviews
Rick, please compare the G410 against the new Cobra F9. You previously stated that the Cobra was going to be the driver "to beat" year, and, I was actually heading out the door to the local shop where they already have the Cobra, to look it over and test it. The fact that, as you mentioned, the G410 has a bit of draw bias even in the neutral position, makes me think about waiting to make an actual purchase until I can try both.
I could see a low spin version but really don't understand why they need straight flight version when you can adjust it to a draw setting. Wished it had a track to fine tune it better.
There is just a limit to what can be done with the R&A and USGA rules. It’s seems all the drivers are focused on better results with off center hits. I spoke with one of the large manufacturers driver designers and asked him about the sound. He said he much preferred the old all carbon driver head they made over a decade ago. He said it sounded much like wood drivers. He said golfers with slower swing speeds much more prefer the louder drivers as sound is perceived as power.
One question for you though, if you were to put a new driver in your bag, either the G410 or the cobra F9 which would you choose? I’m on the fence atm, I will be buying either or, but haven’t decided. Distance is less important than control for me.
I remember my first full set of Macgregor, Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear clubs, bag and all were just about $80, and the set came with a 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 wood.
Fantastic review Rick! I needed this video… even 3 years later, because I just now bought the G410 on sale at $349. Thank you my friend!!!

I’m from the future and they will release in g425 next driver
Not like Taylormade

Another Grade A review, Rick! It’s amazing to me how manufacturers keep making drivers that are more aerodynamic, higher launching AND lower spinning! Looks like another winner for PING. But I do agree with you....no need for other G410 driver heads. They could have achieved everything with the head you tested. Great work! You’re the BEST! 👍
Just bought it this year. Draw weight helps adjust my natural fade and keep my drives straighter than my old Callaway. Very happy with it. Found it on sale for $430CAD, so I’m loving the value as well.
Can you please explain what the turbulators do... preferably in song. 😏
More specifically, could he rap about it? Only the greats can pull that off... 🤣🤙
That would be a crazy thing to do.
The matt black finish on top, i got that tfc shaft that dont stop....brother.
interpretive dance for the win. We all would win Rick, all of us. Make YT great again, think of the children.
Now I would have figured you would have had a nice rap song already made up to explain those turbulators...lol
Your reviews are the most thorough on the internet. Keep it up Shielsy!
Well done Rick on an unbiased and fair review of this new Ping driver. I like the way you are not afraid to be critical where it is needed.
How does it compare to the new Cobra F9 that you liked so much?
Ross MacGregor Has Rick ever hated a driver?

Thanks mate !
Besides a PGA tour player of course
Only gullible people will buy this driver. I’ve already ordered mine!
Mark Blair 😂😂😂
haha oh man! I want it too! Looks like a Ferrari or something and I love the sound of the engine!
yea only real gullible stupid people would fall for this crap from ping.........where did you order yours dude?
Mark Blair Cobra F9 is better.
Sweswio Nope, not even close, Cobra blows it out of the water.
Rick, you are absolutely the "king" of club reviews! Thanks for the very thorough examination of this club.
I realize it's pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Elijah Terrence Flixportal =)
Do a blind test for drivers and see which one you like the best with Pete
Don't you think it'll be hard to hit the ball with a blind fold on ?
Maybe introduce a 1-10 rating scale for the clubs you’re testing? Just a suggestion, nice review

Just tested a bunch of drivers, this one was the best for feel, accuracy and distance.. Yep I got one
looking forward to the Mizuno driver ;)
When?
Hey Rick, do you still rate the Cobra F9 better than the G410?
Thats my Question too.
I’m curious too. He did seem more enthusiastic about it but maybe just because the F9 is more of an improvement on its predecessor? Crown shapes have some similarities. Head to head test Rick?
Yep
After you are done reviewing this year's drivers you should make a sort of book or magazine compiling your findings.
Compliment my AP2 irons 👍🏽
Thanks for the review Rick
You’re the best, always direct and understandable.
I just love the look of this driver
Always been a big ping guy not a huge fan of the colors but I like the adjustability! Great review Rick!
Great club review as always. Not sure the changes justify the increased price tag (£100 more than G400 Max currently goes for at £350). Going to be looking for a new driver this year, but personally I think I'm more excited about any potential price reduction to the G400 Max as a result of a new model been released :)
Just bought a good cond used 410, looking forward to getting it soon
Watched this review, went to my nearest golf town, bought one. Keep up the great videos Rick!
Great work with the club comparison in this video. Really helps. Cheers
Hi Rick,Are you doing a review on the Ping G410 Crossover 2 iron?
Excellent review and I'm glad you compared it to the G400 Max.
I agree with you the sound is terrible very tinny. When I crack a good driver I love the sound. I wouldn’t enjoy driving with that tin noise on a good shot
Rick you nailed this review. Awesome job in comparing to the G400 max !
Good explanation for the G410... thank you Rick 👏🏼⛳️🏌🏼👍🏼
I just got this and I love it yeah I know there’s the 425 now this was priced perfect
I'm glad ping did a split version so that when LST and max replacements come out they are better than previous versions unlike some others who claim to have two year cycles but are really just putting out a new one every year
Interesting listening whilst you were testing on the course to the different sounds on impacts,
depending where the camera 🎥 was positioned it sounded like 4 different clubs
I absolutely LOVE Ping drivers!! Still playing my G driver.
Hi I was wondering if your going to be doing a review on the new crossover?
Rick, This club must be fitted correctly for you. Your 1.45 smash factor for your driver is great. You hit it longer at 112 mph, with a great center strike. You are working on your delivery tempo excellent results!
Can you get additional tungsten back weights and what would happen if you put 1 weight in neutral the position and another in the draw position at the same time.....?
I loved the sound specially out on the course
I only wait ~ st 190 ... with black crown !!!
They moved the track to the furthest setting from the face, and saved a lot of weight to put it where it is needed. I’ll try it for sure.
I like the sound. Loving the putter headcover too
great video Rick!! thanks for the info!!! greetings from Belgium
I could see a low spin version but really don't understand why they need straight flight version when you can adjust it to a draw setting. Wished it had a track to fine tune it better.
I have loved Ping golf clubs since the late 90's. They make fantastic products with some of the best technology in the industry.
I am still hitting the G30 Ping. I am intrigued with this G410. Do you think it will give me more distance? Thanks for the video!!!
P.T. Barnum was correct.
