- Like/Favorite IF you enjoyed the video. =) Current best time as Chris, single-segment. Chris' campaign is the more difficult way to go, but smilingjack makes it looks easy. For me, this game is a masterpiece and one of the best games by Capcom to date. You can really tell the developers went the extra mile in this remake and it shows off the Gamecube's power.

For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.

A year after I did my 1:29:43 Jill run, I decided to do a run as Chris. I didn't plan on putting in as much effort as I did for Jill; I just wanted a smooth run that would be close to as good as my Jill run. Well, I only tried for about five nights before getting this, which I was very pleased with. It's approximately as good as my Jill run, yet it took a lot less effort.
Chris has a bit more health than Jill, but other than that, his game is harder and slower. I'll list the main differences in case you don't know what they are.
1) The most annoying thing is Chris only has six items slots instead of eight. I was able to go through most of the game smoothly regardless of this, except for when I returned to the mansion. I had to detour to drop off the crank and make another detour to pick it up again. This bothered me, but I didn't see any quicker solutions. Also, he had no room for first aid sprays at the beginning of the game, which made it very difficult to get out of the mansion without limping.
2) Chris uses a shotgun instead of the grenade launcher and Barry's magnum. This makes all the boss battles harder and longer. Plant 42 was very annoying because I couldn't find a consistent strategy, but that battle actually went as I planned on this run.
3) Chris needs to detour to pick up old keys because he doesn't have a lockpick. This further clogged up his item slots early on in the run.
4) You have to waste time running to the Main Hall and back while Rebecca is practicing the piano.
5) After giving Richard the serum, you are transported back to the room where you picked up the serum. You have to waste time running back to where you found Richard.
6) Due to #3, #4, and #5, Chris has three more difficult zombies to dodge than Jill does, which adds to the difficulty of getting out of the mansion without limping.
Taking everything into consideration, I'd say this run is just as good as my Jill run. It might be slightly less polished, but it's also a little more difficult. The only part that I was disappointed with is when the hunter blocked me on the stairs in the mansion. My strategy usually works for me there, but I messed it up this time. Anyway, if you liked my Jill run, you should like this one too. If you didn't watch my Jill run, but you want to see a smooth Resident Evil run, then you can choose between this one or that one. I wouldn't say either is really superior.

the cool thing is nowadays it would be possible since there are other ways around needing load screens. I like the slow "door opening" as its meant to build tension, but if there was an option to skip it that would be epic. This game needs a Re-Remake lol

Why doesn't this have 5,000,000 more views and 80k likes yet? This is seriously hardcore stuff. Most people can't handle doing a Chris speed run because they're intimidated by his smaller inventory space. At least that's what a guy told me.

that shows the age of this speed run. Back in the day, people used to submit runs recorded on VHS. As we all know videotapes were never very reliable and stuff like that was all too common. Now SDA has disallowed VHS runs. Thank god for DVDs. lol

It truly is a masterpiece of a game. I'm creating a game EXACTLY like RE2/3 and REmake. It's going great. It will have a woods and city chapter just like Resident Evil. But the storyline, location and characters are 100% original. I will be building it with speedrunners in mind. So be at ease, this game is for RE fans.

I have the Wii version, and I'll buy the HD version, this game is awesome, wish they would make RE Zero HD as well, miss that one.
If REmake sells well on the 360 and PS then you can most likely expect a zero remaster

The only crimson head that appeared in my game (I didn't let any others appear) was the one just in front of the room where you need to use the imitation key for the armour key I think. Maybe just that one doesn't follow people?

Has nothing to do with RT actually. Ray, has his own channel and in 1 of his vids made a mention of SDA and linked to this channel. Let's face it, SDA isn't exactly popular as it should be, he was doing a favour for these people.

the first time I played this game the Crimson Heads actually made me stop playing cuz they kept following me through doors. it scared the living shit out of me when I was like 10 LOL

yeah, now the only time you can rent games is gamefly or redbox (in the united states that is). there are hardly any blockbusters or video rental stores now, and even then they have that monthly membership price thats retarded lol. now you have to pay a high price at gamestop or other retailers and you don't get to return the game if it sucks. luckily I have a locally run game store in my area that lets you try before you buy. it also sells retro games =D
