My father passed away 11 years ago.. he never cared much about video games. He rarely watched me play. When this game came out and he saw me playing it, he was fascinated. The graphics, the music… this game was far ahead of its time. He couldn’t stop talking about the music and how good of a game it was. It made me so happy when he would watch me play this game. It’s hard for me to even watch gameplay of this, because it makes me a bit upset thinking back. That’s how great of a game this was, and still is.
The soundtrack to this game is just WAAAY before it's time. So melodic, so relaxing in some instances (water levels) and so dark (King K. Rool) in others. I remember this game and Killer Instinct coming into my household about the same time and I was awestruck at the graphics and music in both. Gotta love RARE. God, the memories!
I know your comment is over a year ago but I frequently revisit Donkey Kong Country videos on RUclips for a shot of that sweet childhood nostalgia when I need it. David Wise is a musical wizard and that underwater song that we all mostly love him for is "Aquatic Ambience." I don't know if you'll even see this, but if you want to appreciate why that song stuck out to you and me, watch this 5 min video. ruclips.net/video/jvIzIAgRWV0/видео.html

I always noticed some enemies were a jump-length away from each other, beckoning you to dash through them as fast you could, and also many items/bonuses that you only can reach if you take a lot of risc. Almost as if Rare wanted to punish waiting too much and playing safe; as if they had speed runs like these in mind when the made this game. Watching this is like watching clockwork. Great game and great gameplay.
there's a documentary on Rare that's worth the watch if you enjoy games. Talks about how they purchased a super expensive computer at the time, made 3d models but the SNES couldn't handle 3d models directly so they prerendered the animations and made them as animated images giving the illusion of real 3d models. It was genius and as you said, the results were groundbreaking at the time.
It even holds up 30 years later- you see lots of 2d platform games released now that look way worse graphically then donkey Kong(and are about 1000x larger files too!)
Well, in the second game Donkey Kong is not there. You have to save him..so, I guess creators noticed how players preffered Diddy. And they even added Dixie Kong, which made Diddy look bad then lol And guess what happened then, in the next game of the trilogy?

Yeah there were some legit skills shown in this run but the glitches kind of soiled it for me, especially since you know he could have done those levels without expoloits too.

also you did take advantage of some glitches in the game as some of what i saw i didnt think was possible like barrel rolling mid air through a section of 3-3 i think it was. or in 3-1 U changed characters and some random warp barrel appeared close to the start of that level.. ? thought i had found all the stuff to find, but maybe not man lol i started playing DKC and if i did what you did exactly i would find those little things i never knew of lol thanks man! and did you kill donkey on purpose in the second naughty boss? and when u did that did it stop jumping high to make for an easy kill? it jumps around like a mad man normally but u seemed to sacrifice donks n he stopped high jumpin lol
According to NP you could skip ahead to Vulture Culture in the first world by hammering select between Funky's Flights and the previous level and then starting it. I could never get it to work. I believe there were also other glitches with barrels appearing out of nowhere in one of the vine valley stages.

I appreciated the deaths left in, it shows that even the pros can't be perfect every time, plus any non hit speedrun is a major red flag for cheating
The simplicity of this game yet it was ahead of it's time
also you did take advantage of some glitches in the game as some of what i saw i didnt think was possible like barrel rolling mid air through a section of 3-3 i think it was. or in 3-1 U changed characters and some random warp barrel appeared close to the start of that level.. ? thought i had found all the stuff to find, but maybe not man lol i started playing DKC and if i did what you did exactly i would find those little things i never knew of lol thanks man! and did you kill donkey on purpose in the second naughty boss? and when u did that did it stop jumping high to make for an easy kill? it jumps around like a mad man normally but u seemed to sacrifice donks n he stopped high jumpin lol
parabéns, você venceu todas as fases. joguei muito esse jogo e nunca consegui zerar.
É bem difícil Man mas só persistir
nunca zerei também, muito difícil man
Donkey Kong: Bitch, slow the fuck down!
According to NP you could skip ahead to Vulture Culture in the first world by hammering select between Funky's Flights and the previous level and then starting it. I could never get it to work. I believe there were also other glitches with barrels appearing out of nowhere in one of the vine valley stages.
lol donkey kong in stand by mode can't even keep up
Lol. I also neglected him as a character when my brothers SNES was working
The guy didn’t even have to smash himself in the head with the controller or perform some other kind of self inflicted pain to encourage himself to complete the level after 15 tries at 2am!!😂😂. 🐒
Damn I loved the 90s!! 🤘😎🤘
Made it look so easy but people have no clue the work that was put in to get those levels down like that
God...I hated that stage with a passion and this guy gets through it with a barrel while meeting only one enemy...
I'd like to think that this is the canonical version of how this shit really went down nah mean?
I mean, it IS their island that they've lived on all their lives. They should know it really well lol
In 8 minutes you manged to surpass my childhood level record. SO MANY SHORTCUTS I COULD HAVE USED!!!
