----------------------------------------------------
For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.
Released in November 1994, Donkey Kong Country was the first appearance of the classic Donkey Kong character on Super Nintendo. But you don't actually play as that same Donkey Kong; he's old and cranky now. Instead, you play as his son, the new Donkey Kong, who goes on an adventure to find his stolen banana collection. Source: SDA game page.
Donkey Kong Country is a platform video game developed by Rare and originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System on November 21, 1994. It was the first Donkey Kong game not produced or directed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the character's original creator; instead, it was produced by Tim Stamper, although Miyamoto was still involved with the project.
Following an intense marketing campaign, Donkey Kong Country received very high critical praise and sold over nine million copies worldwide, making it the second best-selling SNES game. The game was later re-released on the Game Boy Color in 2000, the Game Boy Advance in 2003 and on Virtual Console in 2006. However, the Virtual Console version was delisted, along with its sequels, in November 2012. Source: Wikipedia.org - Игры
My father passed away 11 years ago.. he never cared much about video games. He rarely watched me play. When this game came out and he saw me playing it, he was fascinated. The graphics, the music… this game was far ahead of its time. He couldn’t stop talking about the music and how good of a game it was. It made me so happy when he would watch me play this game. It’s hard for me to even watch gameplay of this, because it makes me a bit upset thinking back. That’s how great of a game this was, and still is.
Dont worry its ok, your dad was a great person and now he is in a better place
You remind me of my father, he didn't like video games either but he came to play this game with us. 😢
I'm sorry 🙏🏼
You dad deserves an oscar
then we got shiet DK 64. what a dissapointment.
The soundtrack to this game is just WAAAY before it's time. So melodic, so relaxing in some instances (water levels) and so dark (King K. Rool) in others. I remember this game and Killer Instinct coming into my household about the same time and I was awestruck at the graphics and music in both. Gotta love RARE. God, the memories!
I know your comment is over a year ago but I frequently revisit Donkey Kong Country videos on RUclips for a shot of that sweet childhood nostalgia when I need it. David Wise is a musical wizard and that underwater song that we all mostly love him for is "Aquatic Ambience." I don't know if you'll even see this, but if you want to appreciate why that song stuck out to you and me, watch this 5 min video. ruclips.net/video/jvIzIAgRWV0/видео.html
@@IMatthewIMalkiorI I REALLY appreciate that video suggestion dude. That's some cool info! I had no idea the work that went into the composing of those tracks. Which makes them even more incredible and amazing to me now.
Killer instinct and donkey Kong country is my childhood and still playing it
@@johngaddis697 Glad to hear that! :)
It’s a shame we only get 20sec per level to appreciate the music!
Wow, I never knew about all those secret barrels that warp you to the end.
Noob
They would have helped so much
It’s on all the hard levels too lol wtf
Wow, this was really a trip back into time for me. Nearly 20 years since I have played this game or heard all of those familiar sounds. Thanks for this.
Shame on you for letting 20 years go without giving this game another play. Just kidding, but good thing you got to relive the nostalgia/childhood moments
@@peteypete9357 Haha, true enough!
You commented before i even knew it existed! I was 3!
@@Kinoparapino Haha! Now I'm 35... dang I feel old lol
I lost it at the Torchlight Trouble dark run. So much skill it's unbelievable.

*Diddy's phone rings*
Diddy: "Hello?"
Dixie: "I'm off my period and my parents aren't home."
Diddy: "EVERYONE, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY!"
*Initiate start of this playthrough*
HisNHers Lets Play For a second there I thought you said Dixie was on here period. I mean, ether way, Diddy is bringing his uncle DK and has sex with Enguarde on the way.
Kyle Dean you're right
and DK's tagging along because?

after 18 years my cousin and I stayed up all night to beat this game and this hole does it in 30 minutes. mkay
if it makes you feel better.. I bet this guy spent weeks if not months on end playing this game to be able to play it this fast
I bet he struggled like the rest of us the first time 😂
Lol Tyler , we would of been best friends back then . I lived for all night gaming sessions .
it took you 18 years to beat this game
It took me like 9 years from the time I first started playing this game to finally beat it for the first time then I started speedrunning it in 90 minutes now I can beat it in just 47 short minutes I will get it lower eventually it's so amazing how alot of these games took me years as a kid to beat now they take me anywhere from a few hours to only a few minutes
I love the level Tanked Up Trouble in this one. You can see the player is in a hurry but that platform AIN'T! (27:00)
This platform doesn't give a fuck about youre speed run!
Yes lol I also wanted to coment. He seems nervous and unpatient there!
@@ignaciosb8779 Well its an speedrun, its obviously unpatient since he wants to finish this assap.
All the quick cartwheels made me so nervous! Well done, congratulations!

Brings me back! The graphics are so stunning considering the age in which this game came out! Very well done! Awesome gameplay!
there's a documentary on Rare that's worth the watch if you enjoy games. Talks about how they purchased a super expensive computer at the time, made 3d models but the SNES couldn't handle 3d models directly so they prerendered the animations and made them as animated images giving the illusion of real 3d models. It was genius and as you said, the results were groundbreaking at the time.
It even holds up 30 years later- you see lots of 2d platform games released now that look way worse graphically then donkey Kong(and are about 1000x larger files too!)
I always noticed some enemies were a jump-length away from each other, beckoning you to dash through them as fast you could, and also many items/bonuses that you only can reach if you take a lot of risc. Almost as if Rare wanted to punish waiting too much and playing safe; as if they had speed runs like these in mind when the made this game. Watching this is like watching clockwork. Great game and great gameplay.
this is just childhood, for me, i remember how i always played with my father at sundays. This game is just nostalgic in every way.
That blackout basement run was incredible! It gave me so much anxiety!
damn this guy should get an award or something
With so much shortcuts in almost every level it must be the wet dream for every speedrun guy.^^
so this is diddy kong country?
You damn right donkey sucks. Lmao
TuLokotron2010 nothing wrong with donkey kong
MindofJasonYamamoto yes idiot
harry ballzonya fucking incel
Well, in the second game Donkey Kong is not there. You have to save him..so, I guess creators noticed how players preffered Diddy.
And they even added Dixie Kong, which made Diddy look bad then lol
And guess what happened then, in the next game of the trilogy?
24:00-24:30 Are you fucking kidding me?
Nobody:
Dads after paying the check: Let's roll
How
7:37 whhaaaattt? That barrel spawn xD
Bro same i need answers!!!
@@davidpalacios5563 iirc the barrel appears if you reach that point in less than 10 minutes
@@BrickmanZero 😲 lol thats nice if true
It’s fine don’t worry about it
Awesome Speed run. It is epic platform game. Brilliant level design and music.
33:00 ~ 33:28 WTF.
Yeah but he's not cheating or anything. -_-
Lol.
Zyrus Smith He's not. It may be a minor exploit that he is using to his advantage, but not everyone can do it. I am almost positive you can't do it, that is why you are here calling it cheating.
Lol.
I call it cheating because that's what it is.
+Zyrus smith
To you the atomic bomb is probably cheating.
This game's visuals impresses me to this day! They're gorgeous!
I like how their little celebration is cut short after each level.. lol
lol yeah like "this is a speedrun, you ain't got time for all that"
Me too bahahah
When he died at first I was all like. "oh cool. What secret did he find" then I heard him die and I was like... "oh.."
I think the most impressive thing about this video is that the player is able to complete the level before the songs end. Omg how i love this music.
I need answers!
1. Where did that barrel come from in Vulture Culture?
2. Wtf happened in Mine cart madness, platform perils, and Forest Frenzy where you just fly across the screen?
3. Those runs of torchlight trouble, blackout basement, loopy lights and poison pond blew my mind! Such precision!
Yeah there were some legit skills shown in this run but the glitches kind of soiled it for me, especially since you know he could have done those levels without expoloits too.
Lol you nearly cut Cranky Kong's time in half.
Didn't do it on one life though, so he still has that on us.
i almost got a heartattack of the nostalgic feeling q_q
Ce jeu est tellement beau, tellement fluide.
30 ans après je ne m'en lasse toujours pas.
MAGNIFIQUE
Now this is my kind of speed run ! Every level played . No weird glitch/warp one minute in to the final boss. Was very nostalgic as well , love those overworld backgrounds .
It was an entire run on glitches. Not impressed
I find the super NES to be my favorite 80s/90s game system. They had good graphics and good games then. Donkey Kong Country, Ninja Turtles IV, and Mystical Ninja were my top 3 SNES picks.
You should watch the channel SNESdrunk, if you don't already. His channel is all about his love for the SNES and how he thinks it's the best system of all time. It's really fun to binge through his videos. I use his videos as recommendations too, I write down all the games he thinks are good in a big list on the notes app on my phone, and then I play through them all
As a completionist, I cried lol. BUT DAMN. This speed run is AWESOME! ^-^ Well done. This is my favorite game of all time followed by Donkey kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Country 3
that mine cart madness glitch tho
Not one KONG was gathered on this day
Don't need any extra lives if you never die lol
Loads of people say the second one is better but honestly this one is better to me.
24:09 give no fook mode!!
31:29 Did you just cartwheel through that Claptrap? Really? Wow... haha.
you can do that to that particular one.
Think this was fixed in later production runs of the NTSC game.
Hi
32:58 when you overdose on flinstone vitagummies
ok gentlemen do we have any ideas for bosses. i know! lets make 1 boss a metal barrel
+Markka any other ideas guys. we need a boss for this world
why don't we just put Master Neckys instead of one this time
😂😂😂😂
Markka
-another idea?
-I know, lets change Very Gnawty, but different colors, more difficult and Its name, nobody will notice it
-but the name?
-I know, let's call it Really Gnawty
-How original!!
Markka fucku
Great idea Markka! :v
So much has changed in the past 3 years! I had no idea the jumproll at 8:15 even existed.
should of renamed this game Diddy Kong Country by the looks of it he's doing all the work...
Blackout Basement, Clam City, Forest Frenzy are my 3 favorite maps. Boss Dumb Drum, King K Roll, and Bumble B Rumble are my favorite boss battles.
the best game I ever have played
Wow.. i cant finish this, the nostalgie really hits me. Growing up me and my friends loved these games, it was so much fun. Wow
So many awesome and shocking moments, man! With all that you can do in this game, it’s surprising deep and complex! There’s so much skill on top of foresight that it’s a constant show of magic. Was blown away by how fast you were consistently getting and some of those jumps that you made 😭 just like, WHAT is going on, for several moments. Great job!! I wonder if this took years or just months of grinding
Diddy kong shortly after was tested Under the Suspicion of being under the influence of performance-enhancing bananas.
Wow, this game took me like 14 years to beat.
The feeling I have in my chest watching this is so strong and weird. The memories dude OMG I wanna go back
I wanted to see how you would beat 13:10, your timing has to be completely spot on. I didn't realize you can skip the entire second part with the barrels. And I've been playing this game since I was a kid. The more ya know
Cranky: "I've played this game using one life, and it cost me less than an hour"
SpeedDemosArchiveSDA: "Hold my beer..."
Me: *Watching this clip* "Cranky, eat your heart out!"
Actually he did die once in Torchlight Trouble (18:15)
tjp7154 did the run this channel is the archive of that run
U are truly the KING of Donkey Kong Country! U beat the game for me in 30 minutes. I've never beat the game during my childhood. I'm 35 now and still hasn't.
It's not that hard of a game to beat, you really should give it another try - there's only about two or three levels that are genuinely difficult and the rest are a breeze especially if you follow this run as a guide
So mad at you for the Mine Cart Carnage! Level. I struggled to pass that and you easter egg it.. Good game bro.
One of the first titles to feature pre-rendered graphics, Silicon Graphics said it all.
I liked Espresso and Winky. I wish they had kept them.
Wow, I had forgot the huge skips in Mine Cart Carnage, Stop-Go Station, Millstone Mayhem, and Snow Barrel Blast ... All of those were run-killers for me when I was a kid.
I still love this game, mi niñez está marcada con este fabuloso juego
1995 Valley Breeze Apartments in San Diego, California, I was only 7-8 years old attending Berry Elementary. After school, I played this game on my snes along with Mortal Kombat, II, III, Super Mario Kart, Spiderman- Seperation Anxiety, mighty morphin power rangers, Killer instinct, star fox, playing street hockey, doing karate at the ymca...memories
The nostalgia was worth every min watching this
Quarentine, 6 AM, i decided to hit up a blunt and some wine, and this popped up in my recommended, boy what a great trip, the music, the graphics ahead of their time, the gameplay, the skills, i've never seen this game before, i downloaded an emulator and got it ready to play, ill start it tonight ♥
So how did it go?
30:22 Come back through the start door and you will be appear at the end.
One of the few shortcuts I know.
Me, as a child, playing Mine Cart Carnage: RAGE QUITTT!!!
Watching him play Mine Cart Carnage: oh.
My god this dude is out of control. Congratulations!
the best part is that you still remember those secret barrels til now :) ... and oh. The music. What a childhood
I can't belive that the moment I look at the game intro when I was 6, was the moment my life was changed for ever. Now I'm 17 and I'm looking at it again
Donkey Kong: DUUUUUDE SLOW THE FUCK DOWN
FUUUUUUU
Great job TJP!!! Had to cringe a bit at all those glitches, but i guess it is necessary for a speed run.
Seeing Diddy do those perfect cartwheels and air jump brought a tiny tear to my eye. More like Diddy Kong Country, amirite??
XD
holy shit U got some Major skill mate! I thought i was good at this game.. i got nothing on you! such a good watch, i really enjoyed watching you tear it up in this game, thank you and peace :)
They see me rollin', they hatin', patrollin' tryna catch me riding Diddy.
I remember when I first played in Gorilla Glacier, I almost gave up completely on the game because of how hard it was, and now I see this guy speed through like it's nothing.. GREAT GAME BTW
Fail 18:17
He's going so fast my computer won't buffer quick enough 😂
I started watching and couldnt stop until the end
I take it this isnt your first time playing?
its funny how I just watched a speedrun in 51 minutes and thought "wow, this guy is a beast".
and now i find this one...
SirJazz 😂😂😂😂
I used to love this game as a child..oh the memories...
it's amazing hope you are able to complete the game so quickly when it took me hours upon hours to beat the game lol
I'm pretty sure he has spent even more hours then you ever did playing donkey Kong to be as good as this - guys like this dedicate a large portion of their lives to a single game just to master a speedrun
Game: Welcome to Minecart Carnage-
Diddy: *Oh heck no*
Gorilla Glacier was a pain in the ass.
@0:23 is that previous save data? That shouldn't be there in a speedrun. You have no guarantee that the player won't use some sort of glitch to access data from the other save files.
I had a glitched copy of the game where on oil drum alley, the fire barrels that are supposed to turn on and off were permanently on. I had to take advantage of the post hit invincibility and pixel perfect accuracy to get past one part
Donkey Kong Country Annihilation!
always when i want to do speed run i end up in finding every bonus rounds every secret ect ect, game is to fun to play for a speedrun :D
DK: wtf. I know you hear me in them barrels
the soundtrack was phenomenon. really great work
8:14 How does he Even do that
This wasn't played on an SNES
no he's cancelling the celebration by timing button presses
lol donkey kong in stand by mode can't even keep up
Lol. I also neglected him as a character when my brothers SNES was working
8:20.... WTF WAS THAT
._.
TAS
minute 33:00 is the same thing
Donkey Kong games are fantastic. The graphic is incredible for that time.
You can't get any better for those console.
And they have their own charme, the Donkey Kong charme.
The simplicity of this game yet it was ahead of it's time
I keep forgetting just how bad hitboxes were in the SNES games.
Depends which game...
always watching those speed runs with my mouth wide open
In 8 minutes you manged to surpass my childhood level record. SO MANY SHORTCUTS I COULD HAVE USED!!!
According to NP you could skip ahead to Vulture Culture in the first world by hammering select between Funky's Flights and the previous level and then starting it. I could never get it to work. I believe there were also other glitches with barrels appearing out of nowhere in one of the vine valley stages.
Cranky Kong: I did this with just one life and in one hour
Speed runners: you fool!
This was like watching my childhood played at 4x speed.
The minecart-less cartwheel jumping from 24.04 and the whole of Blackout Basement from 25.11 are fucking impressive. How does he get Diddy to fly through some of the levels like he was barrel-shot when there's no barrel? I played this game to death when it came out so it's beautiful to watch a good speedrun. Props.
How fast can you beat the game it takes me roughly about an hour to well my record is about 50 minutes ive been playing this game off and on for about 18 years it took me 10 to finally beat now i can beat it in less than an hour what's your time
It’s a complicated glitch that takes some set up. There’s only a few parts of the game where it’s really a valuable time saver, I think there was one more than what was done here but I could be wrong.
