Frankie is aware of this video
Big Frankie Fan BTW.
Is Sly aware?
*hearts on fire fades in*
Very aware
but it’s 5:45 and Frankie has no time to climb the rex viper mowtan and comment on this video; what do you want him to do, suffer? 😂
Looking forward to their debut album "540... Outta Time!"
Includes hits such as, "No Lyrics, I Refuse", "Lampshades on the ceiling", "March of The Slobs", "Plagiarism blues" and a special secret track of Mike screaming at games in the background..
Leave mike out of this shit!!
They already released the Mike Matai track
ruclips.net/video/gzX-M9Rz-J0/видео.htmlsi=G0BuUjZFtFuq4L_5
Tracks? Five of um!
March of the Slobs bwahaha
STEP RIGHT UP
The best part to me is that some of the people in the crowd look legitimately concerned.
xD should have pinned this comment. cheers
I actually muttered “Oh my god, no.” I can’t believe they’re still trying this. People need to stop lying to them about their talent. It helps no-one to give unearned praise.
I'm glad they're motivated to put out more music, and I'm glad it's all super untalented and cringy because it means we get more reviews like this one, and therefore more entertained. If they were any good their music would be unbearably boring, in my opinion... who wants to hear a bunch of middle aged soccer dads play "Eye of the Tiger" anyway?
I certainly don't. But to watch them awkwardly struggle through 80s hits, and to hear someone who knows about music and music production tear it apart?
Golden. I'm here for it.
I'm not sure there are that many people telling them they are good. The Rex Viper youtube channel was full of comments of people telling it how it is. Not even being mean really but ole Bimmy Rolfe couldn't handle it and disabled the comments. It's alright for him to rip on someone else's work on a videogame or movie but don't you dare criticize anything he does.
Who exactly is praising them? They aren't good, but they are just doing something that they enjoy. Who gives a s**t? It's not like they are doing it for fame and money lol. They are just doing something that they enjoy, as anyone else would surely do if they had the means and opportunity to do so.
I find it a bit ridiculous for someone from another thoroughly mediocre band with a tiny following who makes thoroughly cliched and generic music that has been done a million times before, to talk down about another band and talks s**t on them as if he has any room to talk or is some sort of objective authority on music. Especially when he has criticism such as "they shouldnt bother doing this because it's been done before" when he himself makes unoriginal music that has, if anything, been done far more than the music that he is criticizing. It smacks of hypocrisy and a lack of self-awareness.
No, keep telling them they're amazing. This is hilarious
2:34 = Flawless Victory. You nailed it succinctly right there, sir. They're LARPing rock band and using e-celeb status, coupled with the plausible deniability of "It's just for fun, bro!"
Mr. Ghost: I love your absolute disgust with having to cover these guys for money, it makes the whole spectacle even more entertaining. Your showing up even when sick is real dedication. My thanks.
A note - I think at this point the fact that they're terrible is actually making them popular. It kind of makes me want to go see them live, just to witness their incompetency. I think I'd find them entertaining the same way I enjoy watching "The Room".
Thanks for the review.
it was my pleasure but thank you for recognizing my plight.. at this point if they came anywhere near me i think i'm obligated to see them live... and they better not be good!
What money 😢😢😢
10k subs and 3k views? hey that might be like thirty bucks!
To me that's the finale, you seeing them fucking LIVE.
Lol I love Ghost, but acting like making a video while sick is some noble act is glazing
Loved the video! "There's an unspoken rule at any show....don't mosh to Rex Viper" LOL!!
it's true!
True venomheads just soak in the glory that is BimBam and Wet Diaper. Hisssss 🐍🐍
How are they supposed to light the stage properly? Keeping in mind all of their lights are taped to ceilings, of course.
They just don’t have the time
@@RealJMCproductions No time to practice either
Can't wait for the Big Rigs LP featuring such hits as:
• Farts on Fire
• Push Your Voice to the Limit
• You're the Worst Around
• Mighty Chicken Wings (Justin's favorite!)
mighty chicken legs- james's favorite
What a horrible night to have ears 💀
🤣
The sad thing is that this “band” wouldn’t get by on their music alone. People are only showing up because it’s James. This wasn’t a concert. This was a convention that just so happened to have musical entertainment.
"entertainment"
i thought it was a harrer show
James is looking like a midlife crisis right now
@@eddiearniwhatever "musical"
Can you believe it everyone.....Rex Viper is releasing an album. Tearing up the charts baby!!!
the sad thing is... i know im going to have to review it
So spot on, laughed my head off. Saw you were sick, so I hope you feel better soon, and thanks for the smiles man.
Great episode of Angry Rock Nerd. Particularly enjoyed the AVGN parody intro and genuine enthusiastic criticism.
As a long time fan of James it’s nice to see him passionate about something again, he’s definitely not getting passion from AVGN anymore. But Christ this should have never went beyond a fun side gig for everyone involved, James popularity should not have been enough to get them such high profile gigs.
he'll only ever get these crowds at game conventions. If Rex Viper were at a real festival they would just get vacant stares from the crowd at best
It’s mostly
Due to connections and fandom, I mean, one of their gigs was at a convention out on by screenwave themselves lol
That opening was beautiful
my final cut x skills at peak functionality
bro you're a trooper for covering this, much appreciated
"you just kinda have to rely on the bands complete lack of charisma to entertain you"
This is what I came here for lol
Everytime a new live show from rex viper comes out i always wait for your take on it haha!
There's a few points in this set where I thought he was going to completely lose his voice. That would've been a blessing.
5:38 I want a ten hour loop of this, please.
They need to make Justin the lead singer. I e been saying this from the start.
Yes, certainly.
Countdown to Ghosts video's viewcount overtaking actual Rex Viper video's viewcount. 😎
yeah it's really weird when that happens considering James' gravitational pull via cinemassacre.. i guess rex viper is too out of orbit to enjoy those same view counts.. you like all of the outer space puns?
@@DancingwithGhosts Keep the space puns coming!
Rex viper needs a behind the music
Nothing like a hilarious reaction vid to Vex Riper 😂👍👍👍👍
Never mosh to Rex Viper! 😂. Another great video dude.
thank you thank you
They look like they are really Having Fun Up There
big frankie fan
@2:45 In true James fashion Rex Viper wants it both ways. Just like how James will make a film lazily and just throw things together and not fix small details, even in his own feature he will say its supposed to be campy and like a B film, yet wants it to be taken seriously. This band is supposed to be taken seriously, but when they suck its "hey we're just having fun" . Look if your band is out of the garage and you're playing shows and putting singles up on streaming to download, then you are open to fair criticism. Want to do it "just for fun" then get the boys over in the garage and keep them there.
Great intro. Have been waiting for this. At least the singer didn't wear a NIN shirt this time.
that's true! and for that i am thankful
You didn’t mention a major sin at this show: there was a Tetris tournament happening that night and they didn’t play the Tetris theme. A video game band couldn’t play the Tetris theme.
the keyboardist could've at least played it lol
@@DancingwithGhosts I would go to see Dino, he's legit talented, and I think he knows it. I dig the synth....until that idiot starts screaming.
Thanks for suffering 🙏 something tells me some or none of them practise enough at home or even at all
Too bad Cooper Folly couldn’t make it. I would have loved to see his Sound Table in action!
The singer has aged 20 years since this band formed, too much partying and Rex Viper groupies.
that rock'n'roll lifestyle even hits the nerds come to find out.. those 5 shows really weighed on him these past 3 years...
I cant wait for a VH1 behind the music on Rex Viper
Too many faborje eggs.
He's the front man of one of the 'best' rock bands out there! He must have numerous hot women after him all the time. Being hassled by fans wherever he goes, he's like Axl Rose back in the early 90's - it's hell of a lot to handle...
The more the avgn content train chugs along, the more I realize mike Matei was the genius the whole time. I watch Mike's game play channel way more now
He was basically the Larry David AVGN
*THeiR Just HaViNg FUn LeaVE ThEM ALOnE!!!*
Binging these Rex Viper videos makes it painfully obvious how much the singer has been blowing his voice out at their shows
It wouldn’t have improved the music and definitely would’ve made marketing difficult, but they missed a great comedic opportunity not naming the band “Cüntthrust”
Also if they ever get to the point of having a full album, please call it “Sex, Drugs and Roll N Rockers”
"the band Hollywood Undead already sucked enough on their own" 😂
Now this is what we're all here to see. Jokes aside your other content is good and I hope some more people check it out too
this is my ''greatest hit''
The bit about how the singer already is bloated and thrown out after 5 shows is soooo funny.
This was FIVE OF EM!
GUESS NAWWWWT!
As if I’m not aware
It's fine to rely on fan recordings for video. Lots of bands have done that for their official releases, and it's easier now than ever thanks to high quality cameras on cellphones. But I think RV could at least stand to take desk audio at every show. Audio is ultimately the most important thing; it needs to be the base structure for the videos to be layered over, otherwise the viewer just can't get into it as much. I edit concert videos as a hobby and I can tell you I've refused to tackle some projects that really need some love because the available audio is just too subpar.
im just amazed at how limited James' skillsets are... he's great at popping out cheap, fun internet video content (or used to be at least) but doesn't know the first thing about sound or simply even wrapping your chord around your guitar strap so you dont accidently yank out the output jack if you step on your own chord (or get inexpensive wireless units like i use on stage and dont worry about it entirely). Getting a board recording is very easy to do i can't believe nobody in their camp knows how to make that happen
@@DancingwithGhosts Surely it's just asking the venue ahead of time and worse case senario providing a little tascam portable recorder they can put an output on,
@@DancingwithGhosts Mate, at any "important" Dancing with Ghosts show, can you please promise me you'll do everything in your power to record audio of it properly?
@@livecoilarchive1458 we haven't really had a reason to do that but it's an idea that has appealed to me in the past.. i just take cell phone video of us just for quality review purposes after we play and it still somehow sounds better than this
You're coverage of them is amazing
I love the Vince Neil ref. Mans really just says anything. Also Question, would you ever consider reviewing fans music?
maybe.. probably wouldn't make a video about it though because it wouldn't get any views, but i would critique it in private via email if you're interested in that
The thumbnail represented my feeling of the rex viper live show😂
I started watching your other videos and I enjoy your knowledge in music and humor. But I'll be honest your criticism of AVGN brought me here of which I was a huge fan of and still am probably up until Mike Matai left. There's now a lot of content about the show now, and yours like Red Cow Arcade I feel is the best spot on to what is going on and I love both of your channels.
Disabled Comments... That says a LOT.
I still don't understand how the lead guitarist has his guitar configured. He plays it upside down but the strings are the in the right order. Is the tuning flipped as well or is the tuning as it should be and he's just learning everything upside down? Why would anyone ever do that?
Were they attemtping to mosh? I am so very confused.
It looked like a bad attempt to HC dance... Without the energy
Your videos save my life.
lol the barely moving crowd...seen livelier funeral processions
How has Justin not gotten more flak for defending a known pedo?
That’s not acceptable behavior and makes you wonder what else Justin does or defends off camera.
Love your take on the band, agree 100%.
That intro was epic!
Hell yes here we go again. Thank you for your sacrifice. I don't know why these are so bloody enjoyable, but they are.
I actually enjoy your other content on here quite a bit more......but am also only human and therefore a junkie for watching you analyze these trainwreck-like events. Honestly, everything that James and co. have been doing these past few years has been causing me to feel inreasingly alienated from stuff like retro-gaming, 80s action films, etc.., because I wouldn't want to be lumped in with these clowns.
It really is tragic to watch. Rex Viper have had more than enough chances to improve and they just don't. The crowd look like they're attending a funeral. If music is good, you feel it, and they aren't feeling anything beyond a White Claw buzz.
Big Bimmy fan by the way, thanks for this.
That intro sold me fam. Take your Like.
I hope to god they ain't playing TMG this year, its a shock to have Red Vox there after 6 or more years
“You’re the best - around - notting error meepmumound.”
bahahahaha maybe he was speaking Welsch
@@DancingwithGhosts That poor man is ruining his vocal cords by even trying. He's going to have a heart-attack on stage.
Thank you for introducing me to those Vince Neil misheard lyrics videos.
So fucking hilarious 😂😆😂
ah snap you've never seen those before?! enjoy my friend they are fucking hilarious.
I really enjoy your videos on the awfulness of the cinemassacre group. I grew up watching James. Now that I'm older, I really see how, despite being the nerd character, James is REALLY a every day nerd. Big time. I will always love his AVGN content, but his real life shnaggines are so very cringe. It's embarrassing to watch. Just like seeing two homeless guys fighting, it's hard to look away. 😕
It's weird because Rolfe is so talented and entertaining in one way, but super inept in another. His movie was garbage, his band is garbage, but the videos he made with the assistance of his college friends (before he teamed up with the "slobs") are timeless classics. Go figure.
@@eddiearniwhatever exactly, he was definitely mislead by cinemassacre.
@@frogman9989 I feel like the Screenwave taint has tarnished everything that was good about AVGN. Changing all the thumbnails, taking out all of matei’s title cards, putting new video links that cover up the end of some of the older videos, etc. that and James’ refusal to listen to and answer his fans concerns about the channel when the faces we knew and liked suddenly disappeared and instead here comes Ryan. Where’s Bootsy? You all announce he’s doing a show and then radio silence, Kyle Justin just suddenly no longer shows up, Mike Matei stops making content, then the slobs forced down our throats on top of mediocre AVGN episodes. But we’re all “assholes” for wondering why the channel we helped support is in the toilet. I’m done with the whole thing.
@@mikemccann978 yeah, I hear ya. I really think the Nerd movie messed up James self-esteem. He has not been the same since then. I definitely miss the entire old school crew, his real friends. These guys pulling his strings are really awful.
I was definitely looking forward to this review as soon as I watched that ear bleeding "performance"
I stopped watching their cringe bullshit halfway through as well.
I sang over "Mighty Wings" as a joke, and legitimately sounded better than the lead singer, I'm done defending that guy. And James' whole "If you don't like us, then I take it personal, deal with it" attitude is slowly revealing his true colors to even the most DIEHARD of AVGN fans.
They've had more than enough time to improve, and they just....HAVEN'T.
It stinks of “we practice independently and hope for the best.”
I didn't catch a word of what he said because I'm staring at the L. Ron Hubbard book behind him
"L. Ron Hubbard: Madman or Messiah?" and "Scientology 0-8", now it's up to you to figure out if i'm a scientologist or an SP
keep the Rex Viper videos coming.
I live for this.
Dude! They’re gonna need to find a new lead singer soon because the British dude is SHREDDING his vocal chords to pieces. How does this guy still even have a voice?!?!
yeah.. no technique whatsoever.. i'd be interested in what experience he had in music before he did this project because it sounds like he's just going in raw without any vocal warm-ups or even a ''hey guys can we bring the keys to these songs down a step or two so i still have a voice in the 2 years?"
Maybe they actually want him to sound like a random person.
@@DancingwithGhosts apparently his name is also James
@@bigshortstop1931 yeah everyone in the band is named James.. i guess it's like that thing where George Foreman named all his kids George, even the girls
I was there. I thought it was great!
You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. Right to the point and funny as hell, haha.
oh with the 'moshing', step aside Slayer, the real metal is here...
VexedWiper
I love the beginning acting like the nerd.
FYI: James is using the Neck Pickup on his guitar instead of the Bridge pickup (take a look at the pickup selector switch), that explains the honky tone coming out of the rhythm guitar
i guess since it says "rhythm" and he's the "rhythm" guitarist, he thought that was the switch he had to slip 😂
@@DancingwithGhosts I actually thought about the same thing! Lolz
Great intro! Enjoyed the vid. Thanks
Oh shit ,i missed this one.
As a musician Im just happy theyre up there doing their thing, I cant hate on that, but that lead guitarist irks tf outta me, if he would string his guitar normally and not make it harder than it has to be he would be so much better. But I agree if more work was put in the mixing and overall production it might be halfway decent.
This is music for people that don't listen to music
Also have you considered talking about Bimmys book? You probably don’t need to read the whole thing but maybe you can team up with the red cow arcade guys to talk about it!
oh i've listened to the audiobook.. i thought about it but i feel like red cow did such a good job it would be a little redundant if i did my own review, we share a lot of the same audience when it comes to cinemassacre
i will say his ''house mates'' or whatever goofy ass term he used to describe 'roommates' does really eat at me... also his mellow-dramatic attempt to un-alive himself made me cringe pretty hard, trying to garner some kind of sympathy from the audience knowing there was no way he was actually going to do that annoys me given the amount of people i know with real mental health problems.. geez now that im thinking about it maybe i do have enough material to make a video
@@DancingwithGhostsI felt that way too. There was a video I saw where the creator got to this part of the book and basically compared James filming his roommates nonsense to being the cameraman at a snuff film. Sure he wasn’t TECHNICALLY doing anything wrong but he wasn’t doing anything RIGHT either. He hides behind him being a “FILMMAKER” to excuse himself. I also got the sense that ol’BimmyBoy doesn’t realize how much of an influence he truly is. He doesn’t understand that RUclips was his true calling and as a result, got stuck in the past and resents the Nerd for his perceived lack of fulfillment.
Yes, roomgoers 😂
I don't know if his book is a success or not; but judging from most of the comments on his avgn videos, I wouldn't think there are many readers. Im a fan and a reader, but Ill never waste my time reading it. I let RedCow do all the heavy lifting... @@DancingwithGhosts
Hang on, grabbing my dancing with ghosts shirt for this. Get well soon!
They can’t keep getting away with it
great Intro ! there was a Rolfe yeah in there?
yeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh
you gotta go in disguise to a show, you know that's the next step @@DancingwithGhosts
Forever Dirt made a great 2 hour video couple weeks ago about AVGN and the whole situation
THE COMMENTS AND BIMMY HAVE ALOT IN COMMON 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
From a musical standpoint my biggest complaint is how simplistic the arrangements are. Almost every song, James and the bassist are just playing the same repeating quarter or eighth note rhythm, with hardly any semblance of an underlying countermelody, and it just gets tiring to listen to after a few songs. I do have far more of a wind band and jazz background over rock (funny enough the lighting is something I didn't notice because blinding stage lights is what I'm used to lol), so idk if these kind of rhythms are super common in older rock music, but I do listen to a lot of alternative and emo rock and I never seem to notice this problem, maybe you can chime in and correct me/add on to what I'm saying.
look up Bit Brigade's tribute to the Mega Man 2 soundtrack... that... is how it's done.. just to watch the bassist alone tackle those crazy synth basslines on a real bass guitar is a marvel in and of itself
The crowd look like they're waiting for the fucking bus and the 3 people trying to dance is so funny to me. Unironically, I feel like the crowd isn't really spectating but waiting for gig to be over so they can get a picture or signing from James. I mean it's at a gaming convention so of course they would. This is a funny as fuck video btw
As I reflected on the Rex Viper and the bloating...
It dawned on me. As bright as the sun, the astounding epiphany that It turns out the true ghosts were the ones we danced with along the way.
I think this band’s advantages are also its weaknesses. They didn’t crawl through the gutters, they didn’t pay any dues, they started out day one with a captive audience already predisposed to like whatever James does. They never built up a community; without the AVGN brand they’d never get to play in front of so many people. I hate the whole concept of Rex Viper but I can set that aside…the problem is they don’t have the chops to perform at this level. They got there too fast.
yep and if their own separate youtube channel is any indicator... they dont have any ACTUAL fans... or very minimal at best
This band is WAY less heavier without Justin.
It’s a damn shame that people showing up only encourages them more.
Wasn't this compiled by fan footage and recordings?
Yes, certainly.
The king returns
I'm so glad someone out there hates that band as much as I do
The band would be about 75% better if they just got rid of the singer and the lead guitar player.
Not saying they would be good but it would at least be more listenable.
The only reason they're holding on to the guitar player is because he has a relatively big RUclips channel called epic game music and he semi knows how to produce music. He's able to hide his guitar parts on his videos because he can stitch them together instead of having to actually play them live like here.
The singer had been a bass player in another band prior to this but he just can't sing.
The funny thing is that singer Compares himself to Trent Reznor for his vocal style, because he claims that they both don't have a very good range, not a wise comparison.
Dancing with ghosts should make a video talking about that podcast they had on Cinemassacre, it would be the perfect content for this channel.
Trent Reznor and British guy have nowhere near the same vocal ranges.. British guy has a higher vocal range but doesn't know what the fuck he's even doing, however Trent knew exactly how to lean into his range to produce maximum effect
@DancingwithGhosts Couldn't agree more! That whole podcast is very ridiculous!
No band review, I refuse
Boom!
Sometimes you just gotta LET THE REX OUT 🤘🏼 🤘🏼 🎸 🐍 🔥 🔥 🔥
You need to become Rex Viper's manager. Fix them!
Love these videos thanks
How does Rex Diaper manage to sound worse with every show they play? They're like the Benjamin Button of crappy cover bands.
bahahahaa i just watched that movie the other night
