    My Clio 3 is from 2005 and has absolutely no rust spots

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  3 месяца назад +1

      The clios are brilliant at resisting the rust, only area they go is the radiator support bar which is an easy bolt off part.

  • @pyeiphyolin6793
    @pyeiphyolin6793 5 лет назад +2

    I had to change that radiator support subframe last month. The rust was exactly like that. When I searched the part, it is really abundant on ebay. It seems like it is a very common issue for Clio 3.

      Yes very common problem it seems all the local breakers and Renault specialist didnt have any that were not rotten. In the end a new one was bought and given a good dose of tetrosyl and wax to hopefully keep it from rusting

    Should he not have removed the oil cap to the engine, during its change, to allow the spent oil to drain easier? I usually do. Performing the task with the car in the ground, I reach down and remove the filter, carefully manouvreing it to avoid excess spillage and pulling it back up towards the top of the engine area.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  4 года назад +2

      The speed difference in the oil draining out with the lid closed vs it being open is marginal at best. The PCV system means that air can get into the crankcase anyhow which allows air in as the old oil is drained out.

    Can anyone out there advise - I was checking the oil level and the and the bottom part of this awful plastic dipstick broke off in the vehicle. 1. Does anyone know if this could be remove easily? 2. If the end of the dipstick is not removed will it cause any problem with the flow of the oil???? I don't think dipstick should be made of plastic - Any comments appreciated. thanks

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  4 года назад +1

      Is there much of the dipstick still visible down the tube? Any chance of using pliers or tweezers to extract it?
      It shouldn't really get in the way of the oil or crankshaft, its basically sitting in its natural resting position but you cant currently remove it. I don't think the tube unbolts on this particular engine, may be worth having a rummage about to see if it does. It's more likely that the sump will have to come off to get the old dipstick out. I would advise addressing this as the dipstick is still important to have in order to check the oil and it is best to keep the dipstick tube closed at the top even with the handle just to stop oil escaping due to crankcase pressure.
      Yes plastic is not an ideal material choice, although at least it is yellow. I recall working on a car that had a black plastic dipstick which does not give a particularly great contrast against the oil.

      @@peugeotCitroen2CV Thank you for answering my question. It is the bottom part of the dipstick that broke off, the part where you measure the amount of oil in the engine (about 2 inches) it would not be possible to reach it. I will speak to a mechanic about getting the sump taken off and the broken part removed. Great advise and much appreciated. thanks Amanda

      To be honest i cant actually remember what this wee car said, its my sisters car i think it was under 50,000 miles. Just as a matter of course if you get a used car with patchy or no service history its a good idea to carry this out.

      They really are solid wee cars, there are about 6 friends/relatives that now drive these clio 3's and they are very good cars. I hope to source a good subframe and get it sandblasted/painted and some sort of wax painted over it to keep it from rusting.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      @Superpureeliteful Around £170 new for one, we give it a few coats of tetrosyl underbody sealant and sprayed wax into its internal cavaties so it should not need another one after this.

      I dont really know, it probably wont do any harm but i believe the recommended oil is 10W-40 that is what my local motor factors supplied. Websites like opie oils will recommend the right oil based on the cars registration which may help.

      Hi, i dont offer mechanic services dont have the free time to do it after work, but there are plenty of good mechanics in that area.
      You mention misfire in cylinder nmber 3 on the diganostic test. Was the injector ever changed? Get a second hand one from traynors or tmet for less than £20 might be worth a try as you have done near everything else.
