- Born and raised in Gaza and now living in the U.S., Middle East analyst Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib has lost 31 family members since Oct 7, in multiple airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip. Alkhatib is angry and grieving. But he’s also challenging the narrow narratives on college campuses and in the streets and taking heat for fact-checking Hamas-which was voted in years ago by less than half of today’s Gaza population-as he vows to work with all sides in forging a new path forward.

Alkhatib has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master’s in intelligence and national security studies. His writing has been published in U.S. and Israeli outlets and his opinions and comments have been featured in international press.”

I grow up in the same place and time as him only on the Israeli side ( back when it was not thet seperet ) . He represents what I know of the Palestine people I grow up next . It gives me grate hope.
Ahmed is one of the voices who still leave a little room for hope for me (as an Israeli) although I must admit that after October 7th I hold almost no hope for the situation to change.
The little hope that left is because I stumbled on Ahmed writings on X.
Alkhatib is one of the few, true voices of reason. When I first heard him say "more than one thing can be true at the same time" I know he is well worth hearing out and paying attention to.
Interesting that such a reasonable voice is not more interesting to the media. This was posted 2 weeks ago and has 12 likes and one comment, other than myself. I think this speaks to the fact the media does not stand to benefit from promoting anything that is constructive, it doesn’t sell and doesn’t retain viewers. Drama and suffering sells.
He does several long interviews a week, by long can be 2.5 hours. He writes articles, and does his regular Work, as well as his personal life.
Yes it is a great shame that MSM especially does not focus on peace …just negative narrative which really does not help the situation.

Very interesting conversation. The fact that he obtained refugee status in 2007, only one year after the election, says a lot about the true nature of Hamas revealed early, accurately assessed by the West and then ignored.

@@connie.22 Gaza was never part of Israel and was aggressive toward Israel so from the time Gaza was Egyptian until 1967 when Egypt gave Gaza to Israel. Gaza was given total autonomy in 2008 and they elected Hamas. They could have lived beside Israel in peace as Egypt and Jordan do but they chose war. I hope they wake up from their stupidity and live peacefully with Israel, their true friend. Israel helped them to become a beautiful state. This is the kind of discussion that really needs to be happening around this conflict, both sides need to be criticised for their wrongs and a pathway to true lasting peace paved.
Thank you for saying everything I have been thinking for the last 7 months. As a former anti war protester (Vietnam era), I can’t help thinking the current protesters are doing PR work for a terrible organization (which they will later regret).
I love listening to Ahmed... The first time I saw a speech he gave, it brought me to tears. It rekindled a terribly lost hope after Oct7.
He should be heard on more platforms, his voice is so very important to truly help and transform the Palestinian cause into something good and sustainable.

It is good to have dialogue. why should we be enemies when we are from the same tribe, the so-called children of Abraham. That Mohammad has met a Jew 1400 years ago and did not like that person should not determine how we should behave now, and make life difficult for us Arabs and Jews alike.
It confirms Ahmed's words about the radically binary and divisive character of the conflict that so few people get to such an important interview. Or rather, that such an important interview does not make it to a larger audience it deserves. Even the algorithm has recognized that too many people do not want to hear a voice of reason, especially form the Palestinian side.

Yes hatred is the most destructive thing and is what causes wars. If peace is to be achieved, one must get rid of the hate in one’s heart/mind. Acting on hate and being around those who hate will bring much suffering to those who do this. There is another way and we need to find peace within ourselves before trying to get others to be peaceful.

Towards the end (about 15.00) the Gazan person in response to the anchors question as to what could be done to help the Gazans now, replied help that would improve the standard of living of the Gazans. What seems to be little known is that billions, yes billions, of dollars of foreign aid has been poured into Gaza but Hamas mis-used it to build terror tunnels, amass weapons, and afford the leadership lavish lifestyles and properties outside of Gaza. Had this aid been used as intended, Gazans' living standards would have been way above the level they are now. Hospitals, centres of education, infrastructure, forms of productivity etc could all have been greatly improved and established where they did not already exist. More than one commentator has said that Gaza could have been developed and have become like a thriving Singapore had this massive amount of financial aid not been appallingly mis-used or more accurately stolen.. I also don't understand why the gentleman spoke of Gaza's occupation when Israel entirely pulled out of Gaza in 2005, even forcibly removing Israelis living there. The airspace and coast have continued to be controlled by Israel but for obvious security reasons.
It's also interesting that, for example, New Zealand's ews doesn't even report about this

He is speaking from the US. So it is not voice from Gaza.
He grew up in a more open Gaza without the oppression that Gazans now live under from Hamas.
What's your point? You prefer the more combative and resistant voices? If so then you obviously can't comprehend how THIS is the true resistant and brave voice.
He recently lost 31 family members and communicates with his family greatly. He's a valid voice.
You might be interested in a documentary made before the war using interview audio that was smuggled out of Gaza, it's called Whispered in Gaza. Obviously, you can't just go in there and hear folks' unfiltered perspectives due to the Hamas regime and now the war, so this was a clever (and courageous) project.
This speaker is not from Gaza. He may have family who died there, but he is in the US and has been living there for the past TEN years.
Furthermore he grew up there.
He communicates with his family daily. He lost 31 of his family members. He's a more than valid voice than most of these people proposing to advocate for Palestinians.
