Your solution is extremely clever to use mag cuts and the Hyve +1 extension to give you two more rounds with one only a minimal amount of extra mag length. Nicely done Sir!
Thank you
I love my G42. Carry it every day. I’m using the Pierce Grip plus one and Meprolight night sights. Never had any problem with this gun.
That HYVE baseplate looks extremely clean. Waiting on my 42 to come into my FFL but I may have to pick one of those up
Yeah they look good, Im just not a fan of how they attach
Try Tyrant designs, you will not regret it.
very very well done. clean language too. thanks a lot. SC. Navy vet.
Thank you for your service
Subscribed, since we have the same basement.
Love the 42
To remove the magazine release all you have to do is pull the spring straight out with a needle nose pliers change the part and reinstall the spring by pushing it back in , it’s held in place by pressure!😉
Yep that works too if you have needle nose that fit
I'm a fan of the Strike Industries +2 mag plates.
Work great & have the same texture as the gun.
I have some of ETS 12 round mags that I use for practice.
My only complaint about the ETS is that its over styled.
I had a super hard time getting the hyve extension on the mag body
Yes it can be kind of tricky
I really like this setup. Mag guts plus the Hyve to get 2 additional rounds with what is essentially a pinky extension. Do you have a video of how you put the Mag Guts and the Pearce +1 extension into the factory magazine?
In Brasil we dont have Those.... but is awasome...
I know more cost ,but taran tactical has them beat adding a plus1 only 1/8 longer than flat stock base .
I had the Taran +2 on my G43, they are very nice. For this I wanted just enough extra get a full grip, Ill probably get one of the Hyve +2 bases for my back up mag.
I got the 43 and they base plateWorks well with it great video
Awesome
Maybe not at the time of this video but now they recommend cutting those tabs off the mag to install the extension.
Yeah I did that, you cant really put them on without doing that. But then the way the bases stay on it not really the greatest in my opinion.
@Wicked Ridge Technically speaking, yes. They are more expensive and I feel slightly more bulking and slightly heavier. But Im splitting hairs....
Thanks for the video, please add links to the parts in your description, that will help out your viewers.
I dont always provide links just because Im not sponsored by any of these companies so I try to let people make up their own minds. If someone asks, Im happy to oblige:

www.strikeindustries.com/shop/products/pistol-accessories.html
purchased this yesterday for $300. came with the box and 2 mags, brand new! just can’t find ammo for it
Good price considering things right now...
I really like that back plate, easy access.I bought the Strike Industry's plus 2 and I tried them with Magguts but the follower gets stuck
The upside I guess is it will hold 9 rounds lol
You may have to do some filing here and there or try a combination of internal parts to get things to work.
Yeah I have a crapy pro mag magazine with a Taran Tactical plus 5 on my M and P 40 and I had to shave the follower but the extension on the factory magazine worked great
Great Video Bro...
Thanks
So you do the rear plate so you can remove it without a tool bit a tool to re assemble. This seems counterintuitive.
Good video. I will probably get the HYVE now for mine.
Yeah I think Im addicted now. Need a plus 2 and some purple stuff for the wifes black G42....
Could you add links to those upgrades having trouble finding, love the set up!
That was a long time ago, Im sure links have changed.
After testing the mag, did you have any Failure to cycle? If not, I will be doing this to my 42!
Tupelo Ty I haven't had any problems.
Which 8+1 setup worked better? Pearce +1 with magguts or Hyve +1 with magguts? Also (kinda redundant with other questions in the thread, but now that it's been a year) do you still like this setup? How many rounds did you put through it? Any reliability issues?
No problems so far, couldnt tell you how many rounds Ive put through both set ups. As far as cost, the pierce and magguts is probably a better bang for the buck. Im also not really a fan of how the Hyve base attaches, but I think it looks better overall. I still run both set ups.
Ive used HYVE +1 with Magguts for almost two years and had zero issues. It’s a great combo that adds just enough size to get a full pinky grip and 8+1 rounds.
@@usernamesrlamo I ended up trying both. They both worked and Hyve was prettier, but Pearce felt better in the hand. Adding +2 to that little gun is a big improvement. I love it.
I'm considering the Glock 380 or the Sig p365 380 for my 23 year old daughter. She is 5'01" and 120 lbs with small hands. Any suggestions? I am quite familiar with firearms but no expert/professional.
Always Glock
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks ok thanks
Why don’t u let your daughter choose lmao. Take her to the range to try out different pistols
@@aft5264 I did. She picked the Sig.
I like contours of hyve plus2 , but thier too long on plus1 ,i like taran plus1 extention . Hyveplus 2 good back up , plus 3 or plus 4 are too big.
The size of the Hyve +1 plays well with the Magguts +1 internals.
Have you shot it yet? I used the magguts with my Pearce +1 and went to the range 200 rounds had 6 FTF. Needless to say I put the original spring back in and the pearce +1. I will say it was very hard to load the 8th round. How did you modify the pearce base plate to work?
My magguts w/pearce is one of my favorite mag assemblies, never had any problems with it.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Was that with 8 in the mag and one in the chamber? I had several FTF with it this way and it was after the first shot leaving 8 in the mag with FTF. Is there a modification you would recommend to the pearce base plate? I would love it to run reliable for me.
@@indyguy8686 Sorry not sure. I cant really make any recommendations because Ive never had any problems.
You mentioned in the video you modified the baseplate to work with the Pearce, BUT you never explained in detail what that modification was exactly to the baseplate. That is what this gentleman was asking too and you still didn’t ever say. What did you do to the baseplate to make the Magguts work with the Pearce??
..Good video ..thx 👍
Thanks
How are those magguts working with that plus one plate? Any failure to feeds, jams, etc? I'm thinking about buying the 42 pretty soon but I've heard mixed reviews on the reliability.
I think theres a lot of variables, so each individuals experience will vary.
Good stuff thanks
You didn't have to remove the plastic tabs at the base of the stock mag before sliding on the +2?
Manny S I sure did
What made u choose the +1 instead of the +2 I feel like the plus 2 will be to long on the handle
I actually have both, and like them both equally. I all depends on how "concealed" I want to be at the time. The +2 feels great.
Hawkeye Skunk Works gotcha I ended up ordering both I’ll have the +1 in the gun and the +2 as my backup :)
Hawkeye Skunk Works did u have to do a lot of work for the extended mag release to fit in the holster
I just used a lighter to heat up the area and remolded it a bit with my thumb. Not the best idea but Ive made enough holsters to know what Im doing, I guess......lol
Hawkeye Skunk Works o so u make your own ive been searching for a owb holster for my 42
Any issues with the Hyve mag release after some range time? There's another video here on the RUclips showing failure to feed with the Hyve mag release.
Ive never had any issue with any of my Hyve mag releases
I know this is an older video but I just got a 42. Looking for good holsters for it. What do you use?
I make my own.
What do you like better the pierce or the hyve?
pics/vid can be so hard to tell colors. how do you like the color scheme? I just got a G43 in FDE and about to order from Hyve.
I like it, the Hyve colors dont show up very well on film because they are anodized aluminum. If I did it again I might just go with black. I'll be ordering a +2 base in black as my back up mag. Ill post a pic of the green mag on a black G42 over on my instagram because it shows the color a little bit better.
Are you using the stock mag springs in both the Have +1 and +2 setups? Any failures yet with either?
Im using the ETS springs with the Hyve extensions. No issues to date.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Thanks for the info. FYI, I tried a Hyve +2 and a Magguts follower in a stock Glock mag. The Maggots follower gets caught up on the Hyve baseplate.
Robert Jason yes, that I did know.
What is the size difference between the Pearce +1 and the hyve +1? I have the Pearce and thinking of getting the Hyve but I'm afraid it's bigger and less concealable
Watch my instagram or Facebook and Ill post a pic tomorrow comparing the mags with the extension. Pretty sure theres not much difference at all.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Great, thanks!
Not sure it beats black
........agreed......
You can convert the magazine and make it left handed...?
Yes, the G42, G43 and gen4-5 can have the mag release switched to either side.
Does the hyve +1 mag extension work with the mag guts internals I checked magguts website for the 43 and they said the It’s not compatible with magazine extensions
Think I tried that and it didn’t work
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks ok thanks man! Just curious
that extended mag release will work on a G26 3GEN?
No and Yes. This exact one will not fit, the parts are not the same. Hyve does make one for the G26 and it looks exactly the same though, just a different part number.
No
I bought a Strike Industries part once, it cracked as soon as I put it in. Their customer service told me tough shit. I'll never buy their products again.
Interesting, so far so good for me.
Does 8 rounds fit into that modified magazine?
Yes, but Ive found the first round doesnt rack very well so I carry it as 7.
It's been 3yrs now, how has the reliability been for the pearce +1 + mag guts combo ?
Its good, Ive only have about 100 other iterations of mags through this thing by now
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks I'm wondering when Shield Arms will have a mag for the 42
@@traumajock probably never. Still not enough people begging for G42 stuff, and way too many people begging for 43, 43x, and 48 stuff....
Question here why would you choose the g42 over the 43 or 43x just wondering on which one i should get
This is an old video. If you want small go 42, if you want 9mm go 43x, the 43 is pointless.
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks ok well I already have the 42 i was just wondering if i should make the upgrade, thanks
@@wilsonlandandcattle1795 why not have both 🤷🏼♂️😉🤔
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks if i had they money i would have multiple of both but im broke sooo😂
There is a weight difference with the 42 and 43. I ended up going with the 42 because I like the lighter weight since i sometimes just throw it in my pocket (on a pocket holster). You cant go wrong with any but just a matter oh how you plan to use and carry them.
where did you get the colored frame ? thanks
Its a factory Glock frame. I got it used at a local sporting goods store.
I wish I could find one for my 42!
First issue ! Thank you for NOT wearing the cap backwards !! So glad I happened across you . Been searching and was afraid that "the glock store" might be my only option . Any chance you could point me toward a source for some METAL magazines ? Bad experiences with "polymer" , DON'T like . Thanks for the Vid , thanks for your time . Just tried to check HYDE for availability . Do I HAVE to "JOIN " in order to purchase products ?!?!?!? I'm really not a joiner .
ha thanks, beware of my newer videos, pretty sure the hat goes backwards. What can I say it helps with lighting sometimes and the wife digs it. I think Shield Arms makes steel mags for the 43
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks That's great but it's a 42 . Have had BAD luck with "polymer" . But thank you , I'll look forward to more from you .
@@sandybarbee8401 I meant 42. Freakin Glock numbering system…..
Your base was so hard to get on because you didn’t cut off the tabs on the mag like Hyve suggests.
I did that, I just didnt show it.
Nice upgrades...I have the FDE Hyve +2 for my FDE G42. I also have the Strike Industries +2 mag plate and it's nice too. I have the Vickers slide lock too. I may have to check out that mag release...looks good. Check out my channel lots of Glocks and stuff there.
Do you still run 8 rounds with the hyve setup?
I currently have 3 of the 7 rnd ETS mags, 1 of them has a Hyve +1, the others have Hyve +2 bases. Im using the ETS springs and followers and factory Glock spring bases.
Hawkeye Skunk Works Awesome thanks for the fast reply, i subscribed!
@Wicked Ridge I believe they do. Ive never tried it so I cant guarantee it.
You look like Frankie Edgar.
Well that's a first, is that good or bad? LOL
You do look like frankie edgar & kinda like alchemist.
Yes!! Very similar....both cool dudes...alchemist and edgar
ghost at 4:25
Haha kiddo coming down stairs, thats why the video is cut right there. Thats pretty funny though and definitely could look creepy.
Video won't play.
Jim Hovater it did for me. You may have to click on some kind of age restriction somewhere, because this is a g-u-n video......
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks I'm closer to 60 than I care to be and have probably forgotten more about firearms than most of your viewers know. That being said, I've noticed an inceased frequency of late in problems viewing gun-themed videos. YMMV
@@jimhovater8755 Yep, gotta love the leftist social media platforms. It is what it is....
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Well, I was hoping to be able to view it, but it is consistently stopping at 00:00:21.
@@jimhovater8755 So it hesitated for me at that point too but then it loaded and worked afterwards....
Or, alternatively, for about the same price, get an ENTIRE OEM Glock +2, forget about all the installation crap and cutting tabs off your mags. And as an added bonus you don't have a big, faggy HYVE logo on the side of your mag.
Pretty sure that mag didnt exist when this video was made.
that green color is ugly
It was better in person
Love the 42
