  • Can ecological collapse compete with a viral TikTok? Humans haven't evolved to notice long-term impacts on their environment: we're pretty bad at it. Scientists need the urgent help of the entertainment industry to tell the story of the climate crisis in a way that will capture hearts and minds. And perhaps one place to start is to highlight that despite culture wars and identity politics, all people share a similar biology that will be impacted by a climate apocalypse.

The world might pay more attention to the warnings if they were delivered by Sophie Howe -- Wales former Future Generations Commissioner. She would definitely grab more attention than Antonio Gutierrez's Dracula accent

1:29 Yuval Noah Harari: "In terms of what kind of story to tell, ultimately I think it's about getting down from our minds to our bodies, because in our minds cultures create very different cultural stories for each human group, which set us apart. But our bodies are still, like, basically the same everywhere. So, if our identity was less connected to the inventions of our minds and more embedded in our bodies I think it will be a an important step, not just for tackling the climate crisis but for tackling all the major problems that we face."

Don’t give him ideas, do you think that is good for us humans?
He is against us humans and in favor of AI.
He is agents since, because nowhere is shown humans are changing climate. No one of the spinets doesn’t have idea how everything on the planet works. Only one god knows what is the actual climate is, and why is behaving that way. We humans know a little about a lot in terms of climate or anything else.

Sorry, this paragraph has no connection to climate change and " Climate Crisis" in this context is just a grandiose word to create emotional impact- fear.

@@mfre897 - I always thought it was the mainstay of RUclips comments to tell everyone to "do the research" without actually providing any, and then refer to them as sheep.
You've actually demonstrated precisely the cultural invention of our minds (perhaps RUclips commentary culture?), and the speciesism implicit in the latter part of this video clip...have you met a sheep? If it's so much better to be a human its because of our self-imposed hierarchy of exploitation over them, all animals, and the environment. Harari is suggesting that "personal intelligence" is in the way of understanding that sheep are like us in all the ways that matter.

Problem of our time is the word expert. There are real experts and geniuses of their subject, but too many idiots call themselves experts and are trusted by millions. People tend to believe, in a democracy their thoughts and opinions are just as right and correct as a real fact, and this is terrible

I think when in doubt the best measure of which view to trust is the one willing to subject itself to debate in the public square.

Is there a chemist in the house? How did the greatest flourishing of life on this planet, the Cambrian, ‘suffer’ exuberant growth at 6,000+ppm? The CO2 rule of thumb I learned is for every 100ppm added there are diminishing returns - rapidly approaching zero. It’s logarithmic describing the upper limit of what CO2 can even reflect.
Scary IPCC bed-time stories has people peeing their bed over the number 450ppm. Yes, bring on more fables about how our fizzy-drinks will boil babies.

Finally Jonathan brings scientific evidence. The real pollution from oil companies is Not CO2 but organic poisonouse compunds VOCs.
Nobody died from CO2 but only from CO.
No chance of dying from CO2 since the more CO2 exists in the air more plants grow and consume it for growth. In fact farmers add CO2 to there greenhouses for a better product.
