I bought some of this from a middle eastern market and it was so unbelievably sweet it made my mouth numb and not much flavor. This looks like it has more flavor and taste.
I have a similar recipe that's is called Semolina cake. It's not bassboosa, but it's really good and with sugar syrup over top....it's almost the same...it's will pm it to your Facebook 😊
Actually you can use any type of semolina .. I made it for the 10th time with just coarse semolina (I put it together making 2 & 1/4 cup of coarse semolina) and it came out perfectly
@@ummuhthth2306 sorry I just saw your reply, RUclips doesn't really notify me...I hope your basbousa came out well! And about Sheba I don't really know what happened I'm sorry, I think she quit RUclips :(
Another type of semolina cake we used to make in our home. This is Arabian oriented indian recipe. here I listed the ingredients 1/2 kg semolina,1/2 kg sugar,7-8 eggs,1/2Tin condensed milk or 1 tin evaporated milk, rose essence or rose water,125 g pure ghee+125 g of vegetable butter or vegetable oil(olive or corn oil),pinch of salt,1 tbsp baking powder, yellow food colour Mix all the ingredients except ghee and oil, heat the the oil in a pan and pour the mixture cook until slightly thickens in this stage add ghee pour into the baking pan.bake for 20 to 30 mins
Did you broil your basbousa from the start and than turn the oven to a higher broil to give it that golden look? Or did you first bake it and than broil it? My basbosa always comes out dry 😭 😅 Thank you for sharing your recipe ❤️
+Ali Saad if you send me a message on facebook, i will send you a picture. its just plain yogurt, i buy any brand such as dannon or stonyfield or store brand, or any arab brands if i find it
Hello mam, I'm new to your channel. I tried this recipe with a substitute of doubling the baking powder since my baking soda lasted. Also I used Greek yogurt instead of plain yogurt. The dessert itself turned out well but I could taste some form of sour flavor. Could it be because of the substitutes above? Please answer. I'm new to baking as well so I'm trying to learn.
blessednotlucky why can't you just make it the way the recipe calls for? Why do you idiots change the recipe and then complain that it's not good or tastes weird? ....... IDIOTS!!!!!
Yes...the substitution caused the change...baking soda is used when there are sour/acidic ingredients...baking powder is used when there r no sour ingredients...try using no yogurt and a little milk instead...dont add too much milk...and also google to get a better idea...try undetstanding the difference btw baking powder and baking soda...it will help u with baking in general
Asalamu alaikum wa ramatullahi wa barakatuh, I ate once a Basbousa which had cream in the middle. Do you know this one kind ? If yes, would you do a video for us to learn how to make it ? For now, I will try this recipe in'sha'Allah. Jazakallahu khair for sharing ! Wa salam
yuuhhm. I have a bad problem..... the bottom of my bassboosa always burns...😕. I was thinking of stopping that by baking it for maybe half the time in a water bath or something. what do you think?
+theglife8 hm thats strange, is the pan very dark? maybe try switching to a lighter color pan. how long do you put it in for and do add any special ingredients which make it darker. for me i found its always tends to stay light unless you but it under a broiler.
...and if you don't have COURSE Semolina, I reckon you could use all FINE Semolina and get the same result(?). I've seen the recipe by others and they never indicated course or fine, so I imagine either would work just fine~~~:)
Just sharing my thoughts in cooking something's are just for flavour like i could use lemon you could use rose water x could use cinamon. These are not basic ingredients which has to be used and so are the nuts.
Amount of the syrup giving here maybe doubled in my opinion ... Didn't try your recipe but I usually double the syrup amount just to be sure enough to cover the cake . Thanks
Yes your back and thank you and thank you for putting the measurements and ingredients in english

Yes you can! It will turn out a bit different in texture wise but apart from that its completely fine!
ماشاء الله عليكي محترفة👍
Thank you, what kind of yogurt you used? sweet or sour? any recommendations?
This is my 10th time making it and I use normal regular unsweetened yoghurt which is kind of sour and it always comes out perfect!

Hello good recipe, but why you did not use eggs? was your result some rigid?
Eggs isn't necessary for basbousa :) there are recipes for basbousa with eggs though but both ways comes out completely fine :)
Did you broil your basbousa from the start and than turn the oven to a higher broil to give it that golden look? Or did you first bake it and than broil it? My basbosa always comes out dry 😭 😅 Thank you for sharing your recipe ❤️

Is semolina cornmeal?
No, semolina is made from a special species of wheat called durum. It's harder than regular wheat, and is used to make things like pasta and couscous.
great video! can you please make date bread?
The top layer of my basbousa became hard but inside remained soft. Can you tell me why ?
That's totally normal. 🙃
Super
