    I bought some of this from a middle eastern market and it was so unbelievably sweet it made my mouth numb and not much flavor. This looks like it has more flavor and taste.

      Actually you can use any type of semolina .. I made it for the 10th time with just coarse semolina (I put it together making 2 & 1/4 cup of coarse semolina) and it came out perfectly

    Hello mam, I'm new to your channel. I tried this recipe with a substitute of doubling the baking powder since my baking soda lasted. Also I used Greek yogurt instead of plain yogurt. The dessert itself turned out well but I could taste some form of sour flavor. Could it be because of the substitutes above? Please answer. I'm new to baking as well so I'm trying to learn.

      blessednotlucky why can't you just make it the way the recipe calls for? Why do you idiots change the recipe and then complain that it's not good or tastes weird? ....... IDIOTS!!!!!

    • @priyasuresh5918
      @priyasuresh5918 5 лет назад

      Yes...the substitution caused the change...baking soda is used when there are sour/acidic ingredients...baking powder is used when there r no sour ingredients...try using no yogurt and a little milk instead...dont add too much milk...and also google to get a better idea...try undetstanding the difference btw baking powder and baking soda...it will help u with baking in general

    Is semolina cornmeal?

    • @chancletadeldiablo894
      @chancletadeldiablo894 6 лет назад

      No, semolina is made from a special species of wheat called durum. It's harder than regular wheat, and is used to make things like pasta and couscous.

    yuuhhm. I have a bad problem..... the bottom of my bassboosa always burns...😕. I was thinking of stopping that by baking it for maybe half the time in a water bath or something. what do you think?

    • @ShebaYemeniFood
      @ShebaYemeniFood  8 лет назад

      +theglife8 hm thats strange, is the pan very dark? maybe try switching to a lighter color pan. how long do you put it in for and do add any special ingredients which make it darker. for me i found its always tends to stay light unless you but it under a broiler.

    • @theglife8
      @theglife8 8 лет назад

    ...and if you don't have COURSE Semolina, I reckon you could use all FINE Semolina and get the same result(?).
    I've seen the recipe by others and they never indicated course or fine, so I imagine either would work just fine~~~:)

    Just sharing my thoughts in cooking something's are just for flavour like i could use lemon you could use rose water x could use cinamon.These are not basic ingredients which has to be used and so are the nuts.
