    I watched your video, grabbed a black trash bag, and started right away. Doing a bit every day is what I like the most. With three young kids in homeschooling, I quickly gathered a bag full of clothes, toys, and other stuff that I will donate or throw away tomorrow morning. Happy decluttering, everyone! :)

    20/20 seems wasteful to me. $1’s add up, as does the time to replace. If you don’t need an item, that’s one thing, but getting rid of things based upon the “ease” of replacement doesn’t make sense in my world.

    • @tarynmaria_
      @tarynmaria_  Год назад +1

      This is only if you’re having a hard time making a decision on something. I’ve never had to actually replace anything I’ve donated based on this rule.

    • @littlemouse9900
      @littlemouse9900 Год назад +1

      Agreed seems wasteful to me too.

      American waste culture, totally insane!

      The point is that you RARELY replace the things you get rid of which feels better mentally than keeping a lot of smaller items you *might* need someday.

    I just found your channel, and loved this video! When you mentioned "flat surfaces" -- mine are horrendous! Every single flat surface I have in my home is cluttered right now! I have been working on decluttering for a couple decades already, and it still looks like I haven't touched a thing.

    • @tgayer1

      Hi! Are you also trying to minimize what you bring into your home? Other great channels to check out are The Minimal Mom and Clutterbug. Decluttering is so worth the effort!

    • @tarynmaria_

      Thank you so much! :) Flat surfaces, I think, are the hardest to keep clean but make such a big impact. Decluttering is definitely a long process!

    I’ve watched over 10 of your videos before I finally subscribed. I have subscribed to the major influencers in this genre but find I like your moderate approach. It mirrors my systems and motivates at a good level. I need to see if you have a paper playlist.

    You will always have some "clutter" if you and your kids "live, develop, change"
    Yes.. the University of California did a study on middle-class America homes (you can see on you tube, or buy/read the book)..shocking what the American consumerism mentality does.

    • @tarynmaria_
      @tarynmaria_  11 месяцев назад +2

      I just checked it out! It's really interesting and I noticed they talked about toys a lot. There is also a lot more "cheap" stuff to buy these days. Important to think about this!

    • @rebeccarendle3706
      @rebeccarendle3706 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@tarynmaria_ yes in the US, kids have more volume and cheaper, lower quantity toys. Where I live in Europe our kids tend to have less, but high quality and expensive (eg wood and Lego).

    It’s actually proven by another you tuber that we don’t have an average of 300k items… it’s actually closer to 30 k at most . Just wanted to let you know 😊 love your videos

      I’m guessing the number may relate to size of home and number of people living there. Storage spaces in homes with basements, attics and garages probably have 30k items in one space. If you literally counted everything in an average 3b/2b home…especially with kids stuff…I have no doubt 300k is the average number of items if individually counted

    ?? If you are afraid that someone would break into your car to steal items that are to be donated, aren't you afraid of people stealing your mail (as you let it sit until you are ready to process it)??
