Thank you Dynaudio for producing this Evoke range. I just got the Evoke 10 and after 50 hours of running in, the sound that emerges is astonishing. So effortlessly alluring yet backed with ruthless power when needed, especially in the bass. I have to keep reminding myself my subwoofer is disconnected! This is my fourth Dynaudio standmount and it surpasses the previous three by some margin. They are Excite X12, Focus 110 and DM 2/6 in order of merit. The Focus 110 suffered from a veiled quality in its midrange and while I rate the X12 above the Focus, its treble is a touch strong, occasionally over-riding the midrange. Compared to the Evoke's impeccable Cerotar, I now hear some grit. The Evoke 10's treble, midrange and bass are perfectly balanced. None dominates the others. It is also more transparent than those other three standmounts. Acoustic instrument tonalities are reproduced very accurately. Listening to Bruckner's Eighth Symphony as I type and the tweeter's ability to reproduce all those massed strings and brass with such richness and control is amazing. That heightens the emotion in this great music. This Evoke 10 is a thing of joy I'll treasure forever. :-)
Thanks for this...I’m considering some Evokes in my main system after being really impressed by the Emit10. Your summary of the sound differences will help me greatly :)

You would the right person to ask my question. My room is 18 feet by 13 feet. Should I go with evoke 20 or floor standing 30. I was movies and listen to stereo music.
Very good speakers! Could you tell me if at Dynaudio have considered the light reflections of tv on the black or white gloss surface of the speakers when they are put in a home theatre system? This aspect can be very annoying while watching tv.
A little off topic but is the Confidence C1 II still superior in performance vs the new Contour 20? Do these models share the same Esotar series or is the new Contour 20 much superior than the older but higher model C1? Thanks Dynaudio!!
This is a good question because the Confidence C1 is by many regarded as the finest Dynaudio compact speaker, while the Contour 20 came out several years later with more up-to-date driver technology. First of all, both loudspeakers share a similar tweeter, the highly refined Esotar2. This tweeter with the neodymium magnet and specifically shaped inner chamber was introduced with the Confidence C1, C2, C4 and later chosen for the new Contour 20, 30, 60. The former Confidence series was launched in 2002/2003 and became famous for its refined details and evenly-balanced sound, especially the models C1 and C2. They had the best woofer/midrange driver of their time and a very high quality first order crossover. The Contour series was launched in 2016 with several technical improvements in the woofer and cabinet construction. Compared to the Confidence C1 the woofer/midrange driver in the Contour 20 has a wider diameter, is a longer-throw design with a longer voice-coil, a larger more powerful double magnet, asymmetrical surround, special spider suspension fold, and a stronger glass fibre voice coil former. The Contour 20 also has a more rigid cabinet with a strong aluminium front baffle and very thick curved cabinet construction. All these improvements add to a better bass performance in quantity and quality. The headroom and dynamic range has also improved audibly. In most rooms and with most amplifiers, the Contour 20 will give the better performance. Yet the Confidence C1 still sounds as refined and balanced as always, and for some people it will always be very special. Oh, and then there’s also the Special Forty… 😊 // Greetings from DK, Lilli
Looking forward to install My black Evoke 30 in the end of the summer. I Will feed them with the Naim Uniti Nova and add My REL Carbon Limited subwoofer. Cheers from Sweden!
Hi, the Special Forty Esotar 40 uses neodymium, while the new Evoke's tweeter is made of ferrite. We would say the Esotar 40 has a higher sensitivity, but the Evoke's re-design and the Hexis make the sound of the Evoke tweeter more linear, and the sensitivity is not really needed. I will get back to you about the pricing soon. // Have a nice day, Lilli
Hi. I just purchased a pair of Excite 38. They are a beautiful Rosewood finish. This is my second pair of Dynaudio speakers. The first was a pair of Audience 122s, which I love also. I'm working with my new 38s and dialing them in to my room. Again they are beautiful speakers. Do feel I have made a nice upgrade? Thank you Dynaudio !!
I just purchased the Excite X18 and absolutely love them. I am debating between the Special 40s, the Evoke 20s or the Contour 20s. Your help would be appreciated. I am leaning toward the Evoke because of the newer technology. Your opinion? Thanks in advance!
Hi Scott, it really depends on your own preferences. The Special Forty does have some advantages in the midrange region, whereas the Evoke 20 is slightly larger and especially better in the bass region. Of course both of them are brilliant speakers, but we suggest that you visit a Dynaudio dealer and listen to both - at the end of the day you must like the sound 😉 // Lilli
Evoke beats excite any day, because they have used high end components in this level. I heard floor standing with parasound. Very impressive. mashaAllah
@@feggelindh7584 If you buy a fedility speakers like this brand, damn all of their speakers even Emit are 4oms, they are hungry for power. I found parasound to be a fantastic match. Hi there. We will generally not recommend making any judgment about the sound quality of any gear based on playback of a recording, which will be greatly affected by other factors, such as microphone used, room and speaker placement, and the speakers/headphones you are using for the playback. We strongly encourage you to seek out one of our authorized dealers, who will be able to provide a proper demonstration.
Yes, the Evoke can be considered an improvement. The tweeter is a direct upgrade over the D260 used in Contour 1.1, with the Hexis inner dome, a more powerful magnet and a redesigned yoke (the metal part behind the dome). The dome itself and the rear chamber is exactly the same, but everything else is upgraded. Similarly, the woofer is a direct upgrade on the same woofer type, with several improvements, such as a more powerful magnet, fiberglass voice coil former and a longer throw ratio. So overall, an upgrade would be a strong win 😊 // Best regards, Lilli
Hi Dynaudio! Big fan of all your products. I’m currently considering the older Excite series (in particular the X44) and the Evoke series. How would you describe the difference between them?
The Evoke series is generally a step up, with improved cabinets, drivers and crossovers. At first glance, the X44 is larger than any of the Evoke models, so you might worry about the bass output, which is quite affected by the cabinet size. However, the woofers in an Evoke 50 has a longer throw, which essentially makes up for the smaller diameter and smaller box size. So overall, the Evoke 50 would be considered a step up, in objective terms. The subjective listening experience can vary from person to person though. Cheers /Kristian
Dynaudio thanks for the reply. Do you feel that the Dynaudio “house” sound is evolving and that these days you are going for a different sound signature than in the past?
I am very conflicted about getting the evoke 50 or the contour 30. The evoke is very good, but so it the contour also, but at a higher price. I have not heard the models I'm thinking of buying, but I've heard the evoke 20, and contour 20, and contour 60. What is the difference between the contour 30 and the evoke 50? I'm interested to know more about it before I do my buying decision.
Hi Oystein, we're very sorry for this late reply. From a technical point of view, the Contour 30 uses a higher power version of the 18W woofers with more advanced cabinets. The Contour uses aluminium voice coils which is better for the midrange performance, whereas Evoke 50 uses copper voice coils because the extra midrange driver means that the woofer is not used for midrange. This is why the Evoke is capable of more "punch", but perhaps it's not as nuanced as the Contour. We also use a higher grade crossover components in the Contour, which you can especially notice in the smoothness of the sound. The tweeter in Contour is an older design which does not include the Hexis, but on the other hand it has a more powerful neodymium magnet. And it has less compression at high volumes 😊 Have a nice week, Lilli
@@dynaudio Thanks for answer. I actually have ordered the Evoke 50 instead of the contour 30 mostly to stay within my budget. The contour 30 is almost 50% more expensive than the Evoke 50. Hi Dynaudio. I just bought your Contour 20, I was considering this before I decided to go with C20. With the improvements made on Evoke, does this make Evoke a better model than Contour 20? On a different note, what improvement/s can I expect if I upgrade to Contour 30? My room is about 279 sq.ft w/ a celing height of 6.5ft. Thanks and more power!!
Hi there, Evoke is built using a lot of the technologies from Contour and Confidence, however there are still plenty of reasons the Contour still is an upgrade. More advanced cabinets, including the aluminium front baffle, more powerful magnets in the drivers, and not least higher grade components in the crossovers. So we definitely still consider Contour 20 to be an upgrade. Contour 30 mostly offers deeper bass an the ability to play louder, the quality of the components and the quality of the acoustic performance is similar. // Best regards, Lilli
They are tapered, Robert. And that's to help with acoustic performance, but it also has the welcomed side effect of being visually pleasing 😊 //Christopher.
Hi, it is true that the Evoke is an improvement over Focus. From a technical standpoint, the tweeter is different. The Evoke tweeter is ferrite, while the old Focus was Neodymium. But overall we consider the sound of the Evoke to be better and more linear, also due to the re-design and the Hexis. Our acoustic team considers the Evoke tweeter a better tweeter. All the woofers are clear improvements over the old Focus drivers. And the cabinet finish is also better than Focus. So yes, it's a step up! // All the best, Lilli
