    From Dynaudio -
Put a pair of floorstanders in your living room and even the least ‘hi-fi’ person in the world will know you mean business. Put a pair of Evoke 30 floorstanders in there and they’ll also know you have taste.
These two-and-a-half-way speakers strike the balance between compactness and restraint, and unabashed, wide-eyed enthusiasm for music.
The new Evoke family will be on-sale in Europe in February 2019. It will arrive in other markets in April.
Let’s take it from the top
At the head of the table is the all-new Cerotar 28mm precision-coated soft-dome tweeter. And it’s one of our most sophisticated yet.
Our engineers plundered some of our most celebrated technologies - including ingenious airflow systems from the award-winning Esotar Forty anniversary tweeter, the precision coating found on the Contour range and the Hexis from the new Confidence series (more on that in a bit) - and combined them into a new design specifically for the Evoke family.
    The low-down on woofers
Evoke 30’s twin 14cm Esotec+ mid/bass drivers are made from MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer), a material we’ve been using for our woofer diaphragms since Dynaudio started back in 1977. It provides exactly the right combination of lightness, stiffness and damping to balance the needs of powerful yet precise bass performance with clear, detailed midrange.
Each speaker cone is made from a single piece of MSP. This makes them exactly the right amount of rigid - and means far less physical distortion when they’re playing. It also gives a super-solid physical connection to the glass-fibre voice-coil former on the back (it’s glued directly under the Balance Ribs you’ll see around the centre), which means more of the coil’s motion energy is transferred to the diaphragm.
Evoke 30's 52mm voice-coils are made from aluminium - which provides the correct mix of weight and winding height to balance bass and midrange frequencies. It gives optimum moving mass while retaining the right grip of midrange performance for a perfectly integrated performance.
Nomex spiders keep everything centred and moving the way it should, while the new Contour-derived surround allows a longer throw ratio for greater punch. And, like the Cerotar tweeter, Evoke 30’s woofers are both driven by ceramic Ferrite+ magnets for greater control, finesse and power.
In non-speaker-designer language, that means “you’ll hear your music the way it was meant to be heard”. No rough edges, nothing standing out where it shouldn’t - and nothing relegated to a supporting act when it should be headlining.
    Timeless Danish design
Evoke has been created for real life. Our designers’ priority was to make the whole family look great in any listening environment. They took models and prototypes home and sat with them, went and scoured interior-design stores and specialist furniture retailers and even sniffed around real houses to gain inspiration.
Evoke 30 is available in four fantastic finishes. Black High Gloss and White High Gloss both use a new lacquering technique that gives a gloriously deep, glass-like look. At the other end of the tactile spectrum are the lovely, natural open veneers of Walnut Wood and Blonde Wood - honest, organic and hygge.
The result is an instant classic. It’s modern, retro, timeless and cutting-edge all at once. It’s the kind of speaker your kids will eye-up expectantly when they’re leaving for university.
We’ll forgive you for hanging on to them yourself instead. We would…

After 2 years I have switched to the Evoke 30s, coming from Special 40s. (with Naim Nait Xs3). I moved to a new and larger home and for me these Evokes work better in my set up and with my listening preferences (Lot of electronic music). The differences i immediately noticed are: Difference in the representation of the stereo image: E30s in line with your speakers more two dimensional, SP40s in front of you (in your face) more 3D. The SP40s separate instruments a bit more clear. They both have a very spacious stereo image. Voices and highs feel more refined and natural on the SP40s but the E30s are close, and sound beautiful too. The Bass I like (a lot) better from the E30s. I also prefer the way the E30s sound on low volumes. The SP40s I had to drive quite hard to really feel the music (punch). With the SP40s I had to fiddle around quite a lot with the positioning of the speakers and the sound quality was suffering quite a lot of the (mediocre) acoustics in my living room. Voices sometimes sounded to my ears as too sharp and detached from the rest of the music . The E30s sound more laidback and with a more homologous sound. Never too sharp and easy to position as well. Finish of SP40s is more premium than the E30s.
So in the end i can't say that one is better over the other in this price bracket. I think it comes down to your musical preferences and roomsize/ treatment which will work best for one. I am really happy with these, they sound fantastic.

I have these. They are fantastic. Especially for their size. I've heard both the evoke 30 and 50 and the 30s sound more intimate. The 50s are incredible but for me were too much, sonically. Just waves of audio kicking me in the face. I found myself enjoying the 30s more after listening to both back to back.

I am always of the opinion of adding a sub or two. Where you place your speakers may not be the best place for reproducing frequencies below 80hz even if you have the biggest speaker in the line up. Very room dependent.

Studio Incar : Can you try to explain the difference between Evoke 30, Evoke 50 and Contour i30 ? We have a room of 4 x 12 x 2,60, and we listen to almost all kinds of music. What would be an upgrade to Evoke 50 ? I´ve heard the Evoke 50 with Mcintosh equipment, and that was a beautiful "warm sound". But if im not so fond of the Mcintosh, then what should i consider to choose instead if i want a "warm" result ? Hegel ? Marantz ? Yamaha ? Denon ? Cambridge Audio ? Thx. Niels

I agree, these little beautys are VERY good. Midrange are more open and communicative, and there are no phase disturbtion. I will correct you, the bass/midrange is not 6½" but 5" (14 cm.)
I have buildt speakers in three decades, three years full-time with/for Duelund, and these are one of the few commercial speakers I would buy.
If you change the internal cables to a good type and the tweeter capacitors to f.inst. Jantzen Z-caps, these minor upgrades will make them even clearly better. Good feet are reported vital, too.

Open midrange you say. But is there also satisfying midrange pressure, midrange bass, that means “ooomph.” Does it play pop and rock like they are meant to be or kind of analytically.

Another fab review, really feel the layman’s description are crucial for me as I don’t consider myself an audiophile per se. Interesting how you find the 30’s as you did, compared to the rave review you gave the 50’s previously. I’m torn between the two; either the 30 or the 50 will be the choice of Dynaudio product, but will give the 501SP a listen too. I want some proper lows when playing dance tracks, but want the finesse there to play some mellow jazz, too. Tried the 30’s and they were excellent, but would the 50’s be too much for. A Naim 250DR? Would the the 30’s be tighter, better-controlled at l the low end? Would value your opinion! Thanks

Stuart, thanks for your reply. Are you in the UK? Have you considered trying a subwoofer or stereo subwoofers with the 30's? If you're happy with everything they do this might be the way forward for you. The 50's and 30's present themselves differently as per my reviews (to me, anyway) so this is another thing to consider. If you're in the UK and are interested in talking to us about what we can do for you drop me an email - Info@studioincar.co.uk

@Studio Incar hi, and thank you for your reply. I'm in the UK. I don't have a sub output from my Naim 250DR. I'm torn between the 30's being very tight, fast and punchy, and also relatively modest in size, compared to the additional low-end grunt I think I want from the 50's. I have a concern the 250 may not drive the 50's as well as it does the 30's. I've not tried the 50's yet, but thinking they might br too big in every way for my 4.5m by 4m room. Trouble is, both your 30's and 50's reviews were very understandable and informative, and I don't want to get one and realise I should have got the other!

I feel like this review is describing the speakers performance with acoustic music. Bass character, texture are factors audible with acoustic music. However, midrange bass, presence, oomph are essential for enjoying pop and rock. An electrical guitar or keyboard, at the source, produces that kind of energy that analytical speakers can not reproduce….Can Evoke delivery in midrange energy, or should I stick to the Emit series?
