I loved it, the final confrontation between the twins was only so so, the dialogue was pretty weak. Buuuuuuut everything was so cool, what a fucking battle.
7/10 The fight was great Cortosis was a ingenious card to have up his sleeve Scar and the hyaenas (would have been cool if Qimir used force lightning on the moths instead) Qimir's splint hilt similar to cal kestis' lightsaber was cool Yeah i think Bazil can smell the difference between Mae and Osha
@@cadaverouspawn he’s pretty much saying that the Jedi only see in black and white good or bad. To them any force user that isn’t in the order is a sith
I think its possible that Qimir isn't really a Sith, just a dark side user who maybe found a holocron and wants something to belong to. He may have just used the word "Sith" because he's read about them, and is aspiring to be one. If so, he's likely unaware that the actual Sith still exists, and they'll have to deal with Qimir for his antics possibly exposing them. Or maybe he's an actual Sith apprentice stepping out behind his master's back. I can't wait to see.
Bingo! I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that. Also, while Qimir (however it's spelled) used the word "Sith", that doesn't mean that he IS one. Only that the Jedi might call him one. I think he has very strong ties to the witches we saw in episode 3. Osha even said that "My mother had that ability. I saw it once." again, referring back to episode 3. We're getting a lot of subtle hints about things, and it's kinda fun looking for them and putting them together. But also, we don't know the full story yet. Something else, there are still scenes from the trailers that we haven't seen yet, particularly the "Light Whip", which looked like the same terrain as what we saw in this episode. So, I'm thinking the Jedi Master with that weapon (I really should take notes on their names) will head to this planet and find all the bodies, as well as Qimir and Osha before they leave. I could be wrong about that, I'd have to go look at it all again.
Man Quimir was freaking ruthless in this episode! I kinda loved it. I also agree that while Yord and Jeckie’s deaths were really sad, it shows that Disney have learned from Tech’s death and are willing to kill off important characters. Yord is definitely dead. It’s not completely impossible that Jeckie is still alive, but I doubt it. Also it also crossed my mind that Sol was the main perpretrator if whatever happened on Brendock and Osha will find that out and fight him. But man that would be so sad. It’d be even sadder as well as a shock if he was a secret sith. Though if anything I think it’s more likely that maybe he turned temporarily to the dark side in his youth and still wrestles with that now. I feel a lot of trepidation about the situation with May and Osha now. I definitely think there’s a strong poibility of Osha turning to the dark side. I have a sneaking suspicion that Sol doesn’t know it’s May. But he will soon. But the action was so cool! And the light saber! That was cool. The sith revealing himself definitely made the jedi look rather incompetent. But him revealing himself didn’t bother me that much. Though maybe the big big bad will get mad at him and kill him. The dialogue about the jedi making the rules was cool too. Much stronger episode this week.
It also feels like the whole Thread concept of pairs displayed in the third episode will appear again, when Osha and Mae finally work together and have stronger abilities in doing so.
Meg....I thought the episode was awesome. Best lightsaber duels I've seen since the prequels and Qimir is a straight savage. I can't wait for episode 6. We just need more than 30 mins of these shows. They are literally as long as The Bad Batch. Not sure why they couldn't consolidate to one hour long episode but again, I enjoyed and plan on watching this particular episode numerous times this week.
@@bloun003 Many of us would prefer one hour episodes like the first one. Do they break it into shorter segments to get higher ratings longer? What do you all think?
@@davidmathis4926 I'm not sure why they use that format. It's disappointing because the time they're cutting back could be used for character development among other things. I think these short episodes and abrupt endings have hurt Lucasfilm.
The short time is my only gripe. Nothing else bothers me about the show. After 5 episodes, these new characters have grown on us and now they're gone. We barely got to know them. I don't consider that bad writing, but I would've liked more scenes with them.
@@MeanMrMustard1 I'm with you. Like you said more scenes with them would've helped our understanding of the characters even more. I love the show. I love all the episodes. I'm having a blast right now. I just don't see the benefit of having 30 min live action shows on a streaming service.
Qimir is a Sith and he has a master. 100%. Osha told Yord that her mother knew how to get inside the head of a Jedi. Also the witches were force push/pull experts, just like Qimir. Who tought Qimir how to get inside the head of a Jedi? His master did.
When Qimir said, "Was that it's name?" it is in the same spirit as when Blue Duck says, "was that his name?" on the mini-series 'Lonesome Dove.' The delivery was almost exactly the same. ... cold blooded.
lol the Knights of Ren were such an inconsequential let down it doesn't really matter where they came from, they never did anything but get their asses kicked by Kylo.
Even if we get a Knights of Ren movie, like JJ Abrams wants to do someday, I can't see it redeeming those characters. They were misused terribly. One of the few criticisms of the Sequel Trilogy that I agree with.
@@dvaltmeme5046 "you obviously haven’t read a book in your life". I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Philosophy. I read a few books lol. I just don't read Star Wars books that get retconned by bad TV shows and only exist to justify the existence of wasted characters in bad movies.Any badassery that they did in the book should have been on the screen. And anything they do in a book will probably just get retconned anyway, they don't care about the novels.
@@kevthepoet fair fair for not reading the books except as an english major you must understand that literature has no limitations where as cinematography definitely does. most of the good star wars content is in the books and has thousands of characters that never have seen the big screen. if you are looking for good star wars content and are frustrated with what disney is pushing out then try the booms
I'm trying to stay out of the culture-war. But I absolutely loved this episode. Qimir was such a freaking badass, and we've *needed* a badass sith doing cool sith stuff like this. The last 'sith' we had was Reva, and she was mostly just rage and murder. This guy. He was tactical.
@@TriggerJim88 I suppose that's not impossible, but I don't think the writers would pay enough attention to detail to attempt to mislead the audience with such a small detail in his dialogue
I mean, he has a personality and he's actually done something. The Knights of Ren literally did nothing then got their butts kicked by Kylo. Absolute waste of a good wardrobe! lol Apparently they have done some stuff in the books n comics but who cares really, they retcon the books fairly regularly.
He didn’t say he IS a Sith. He said the Jedi MIGHT CALL him a Sith. That is a huge difference. And I don’t believe Sol makes it back alive to tell anyone. And even if he does, I don’t think Venestra lives to tell the high council. We know she uses her light whip. So she may go to that planet to investigate the Jedi deaths and she FAFO.
I think that one Sith apprentice shooting off his mouth is not against anything, but rather a plot device, as in a reason to have his master kill him off for botching this whole thing and is a good way to open up and expand the story into something else and to continue this use of ruses, which dramatically ties into the execution of themes of failure, presented in The Last Jedi (as you mentioned, big references to Reylo and/or specifically Kylo Ren here...and potentially Snoke(s) (aka Sith who pretended not be Sith and/or didn't "know" they were being manipulated by Sith...) In addition he also mentions now that everyone saw his face, they all have to die, which might be why he revealed that he is a Sith, because he was planning on killing everyone... It was seriously brutal episode, but I did kind of expect this, as I think the super heavy promotional campaign and reveal of character traits and how limited the actors were on providing info, felt like a red heariing, and if you are going to tell a story about how the Sith infiltrate (and seriously curode) the Jedi Order, then you have to have villains that bite! I also think if you were worried about saturation of the prequels, then that worry shouldn't come from one Sith (apprentice??) potentially revealing themself, but rather what do the Sith want with these twin force users, ulitmately, and how is that they are never refered to again by the Jedi?? I think its stilll likely that there will be a cover up too, even if a lot of the Jedi also die...even if Sol and others try to tell order, there is **already fear instilled in the Order from the nameless and the Jedi's ties to the republic...the scene with Ki-Mundi and Vernestra cements these ideas that the Jedi are already scared and already in denial, despite their numbers and fancy attaire. I don't think this is about the Jedi being villains per say, but rather mistakes were made and it gets twisted out of proportion by the Sith, but I think it is very clear that Sol is trying to right what ever wrongs were commited and that matters in terms of the narrative trying to frame them as all out bad. But I also think its true that the Jedi are arleady fearful at this point. We don't know how Phase III of the High Republic book/comic series will end and what happens to the Nameless and what kind of long lasting pyschological or physiological impact that comes to have on the Jedi Order, but I think it needs to be considered here too, when we try to line this up with what the Jedi say or believe in the prequels. I loved the coreography of the fight scenes (one of the best in all of SW) and how it had a really strong sequel vibe from Rey/Finn/Kylo fighting in the snow forest to other Reylo scenes in TROS). I'm very curious what Mae is going to do now and/or how the tables are going to turn before the season 1 finale!! PS: just don't kill Basil! I can't take anymore! :p
This was the strongest episode by far. Qimir and Sol is carrying the show. The lightsaber fight was good and I was impressed that Jecki held her own. I think the Sith Master will take out the apprentice(Qimir), but Qimir will survive and become the first Ren.
The show hasnt been amazing, but credit where it's due the lightsaber choreography in this episode was the best ive seen since episode III. No more baseball bats
They had to bring Ki-Adi-Mundi being brought in really shows the arrogance of the Jedi, that Master Yoda did not address or stop which brought the fall of the Jedi
It was a fantastic episode. They canonized the legends armor….. it was great to see the initial reaction of some of the Star Wars haters. They claimed to know everything Star Wars but criticized the lightsabers going out without realizing this was a part of legends that they frequently whine about being sidelined. LoL.
@@autecheee Ok?? Sooo how is this relevant to anything talked about here? Its about EU/lore whiners not even recognizing a very famous lore thing functioning exactly like it does in lore
I don’t think this lessens what Plageuis and Palpatine did. Look at it this way. Death by 1000 cuts. Anakin is peak, but before, so many machinations, plans, schemes. This story will ultimately be about true Sith Master taking out Vernestra. She was one of the Jedi that had extreme foresight like Yoda. The plot is removing her from the board. All of this, Qimir, the Jedi, Mae, is really to draw her out. Like the Queen in chess.
Speaking of "twatting" - can anyone explain why, when Sol is about the cut Qimir's head off, Osha stops him, and then instead places the light on his back so he gets carried away by bugs? Huh?
The Jedi are "idiots" ... they cause their own downfall. Palpatines speech to Anakin, in his office about the jedi and their dogmatic views... they refuse to see things in front of their face... they become warriors, and they are supposed to be peace keepers... they allow themselves to be check mated. If you are telling the truth you will have earned my trust... who says something like that.. if the sith returned we would have felt it... well they never left. Ki Adi being there doesnt ruin anything it helps illustrate why the jedi fall in 100 years.
I was thinking the same thing. The story line seems to point to the hubris of the Jedi and their unwillingness to expose themselves to criticism by outside powers. I think the main reason they seem to be acting foolishly is their overreach of claiming to be all knowing, and admitting the Sith are hiding under their noses would break the illusion.
@@charlessingleton5576 Also wasn't Vernestra specifically wanting to quietly sweep this whole incident under the rug and not bother the high council with any of it?
First of Quimir says "You might call me Sith", which very much plays into the Jedi way of seeing things from a certain point of view. Secondly: why should the Sith not have tried or risked revealing themselves before? They don't know (as we do) that the Masterplan will take another 100 years to come about. In that time they might have thought they already had a plan, which then didn't pan out. I actually like those changes and I really hope Qumir's master is someone new, someone fresh. Thirdly, about the Jedi: their main flaw was ignoring what was under their noses. And that's what we are seeing here in epic proportion. Most of the Jedi are dead already and Sol... he too might die, or he might get turned to the dark side, the potential is there. The whole plot might be a set-up to allow Mae to infiltrate the order, lure the Jedi out, give them some danger, kill Sol's padawan, and when he is vulnerable, sneak in mae as Osha. In the worst, Sith-twisted plan, Quimir too might be a distraction, and when he is caught, the goofy, idiotic apothecary, Sol will get laughed out of the Jedi-Council for claiming he is a Sith. I see so many opportunities how this plan could work, and I am surprised you don't see them too.
Not really sure why this is so hard for people to understand, Headland has flat out said he is a Rule of Two Sith. He likely is just an Apprentice that hasn't either been given his Darth name yet, or Qimir just didn't feel like telling him what it is, and lied. Osha's dead I do believe, Qimir covered her with his cloak in some semblance of respect, maybe he was hoping to replace mae with her, but I think that option has passed. And I think he knows it's Osha, otherwise he'd not have given her his cloak, seeing as how displeased he is with Mae right now, rightfully so. But Mae kept her word to Osha that if they weren't going to be together, Mae would kill her. She just finally succeeded. Everyone except Qimir dies in this show, is my prediction.
@@briandoty769 Yeah, I just re-watched that scene and that wound in particular, it does seem like he healed her, so I'll retract my previous statement on that.
Was sad to see Jecki die already. Honestly her fight scenes were the best so far in the series (love the duel wielding reminds me of ahsoka). Funny how a Padawan can hold her own better than her master LOL
I am thinking Qimir is the first Knight of Ren personally. It would be sweet to see a Darth Plagius at the end, even if it's a quick scene. RIP to my man York & Jecki...their end was savage.
He looks very similar to the Ren before Kylo, which makes sense if the successor takes the lightsaber(the ren), cape, and modified their mask from the one they replaced.
When a psychopathic "Sith Lord" is kabobbing your collegues and breaking their necks and his motivation is merely, 'I want the freedom of weilding my power the way I like and not having hide in the shadows because the Jedi don't want me to exist," he is not to be trifled with. 😂😂😂
Some fun moments in isolation. The shish kebab-ing was cool. The 80’s action movie neck snap (didn’t see that coming). Qimir being jacked helped make him look formidable. Doesn’t save this show from the myriad of problems it has, but those were some cool things 👍
I thought this episode was much better, I loved Quimir as the sith and I agree he must be the apprentice of a bigger bad. I also liked that people actually died from lightsaber wounds. However, Mae seems to change her motivation with the wind. She was going to turn herself in to the Jedi anyway so why does she fight Jecki when Jecki arrests her? She could have tried to explain but she seems to be trying to kill her. Then she tells Osha she loves her, but when she realizes that Osha believes the Jedi version of whatever happened on Brendok, she knocks her out, steals her identity and leaves her unconscious on the planet WITH QUIMIR! I don't buy that Sol does not sense its Mae (unless he does) I mean the tracker rodent seems to know. Still a lot of questions.
I wonder if what has just occurred will spawn either a second season of The Acolyte (possibly using same or different Acolytes), or spawn more development of Sith based shows…and inform us of how twisted, evil, and maniacal they are. You can’t just have people thinking the Sith were misunderstood….
I quite enjoyed episodes one and two, didn’t like three, thought four was good but five was absolutely outstanding 👍 I can’t see any reason for fans or casual watchers to dislike this one. But then again, the Internet seems to be all about complaints and outrage these days 🤔
The bad sword choreography (let's take turns fighting), the OP cortosis armor which just makes lightsabers obsolete at this point, Mae resisting arrest after deciding to turn herself in, the clunky exposition, Smylo exposing the Sith to the Jedi so the audience could hear him say the thing, the insane sister swap at the end (Sol is a mind reader and she has a giant tattoo on her forehead), Sol letting Smylo float away with the moths instead of simply executing him for murdering countless Jedi. I really can't with these writers.
It’s not perfect, there are some fair criticisms, and I can see some understandable reasons for disliking it, but yea. It’s overall good tv and I can’t wait for the next episode.
Thanks for mentioning the fantastic Bane trilogy (this would be a serie i would love to see) and Darth Plagueis. Sometimes when reading the comments online i had the feeling i was the only one who had read these great books. Banes rule of the two combined with the importance to stay hidden contradicts this behaviour completely.
My favorite episode so far. The reveal of who the “sith” was was a little too obvious, but I feel like there’s way more to that part of the story left to be told. Saber action was great! The pace was nice and made a 30 minute episode feel full.
Anyone else get the feeling the twins swapped identities though one doesn't know it as she's knocked out. I think Maye swapped clothes maybe to infiltrate jedi order?
So what if Qimir is a force potential that The fake "Darth" Venamis was teaching as his next apprentice. After Plaguies kills Venamis he finds qimir and kills him as well for revealing the sith to soon. Leading Darth Plaguies to osha and mea learning their history and background helping him uncover secrets to force conception and further his research into medi-cholrian manipulation. Plaguies was able to create other "Things" using the force.
*The* *Acolyte’s* *Ep.* *5* *=* *The* *Phantom* *Menace* Only the lightsaber duels saved this episode just like the Darth Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan fight saved that mid movie. I was 18 when I first saw TPM, so I don’t have childhood nostalgia for it since I was already old enough to know what’s cool or not. And I was spoiled by Jackie Chan movies that year as I collected about 30 of them on VHS and I still think Jackie is the GOAT action star. Sorry, Tom Cruise. The greatest lightsaber fight happened in Revenge of the Sith as it had more emotion to it. We finally saw the Battle on Mustafar that we waited for years and that would turn Anakin truly into Darth Vader with an asthma problem, decapitated with third-degree burns. But from a technical standpoint, the Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan fight was actually superior. All the Trade Federation and droid army crap from TPM didn’t matter to me. Or that long pod racing scene. Similar to Jet Li, Ray Park was a wushu champion. He’s a martial artist, one of TPM’s fight choreographer, and stuntman ala Jackie Chan. He knew his stuff. The coolest sequence was when we first see Obi-Wan go after Maul after Maul stabs Qui-Gon. It only lasts 10 seconds but it’s a cooler sequence than Hayden twirling the lightsaber behind his back when fighting Obi-Wan. Adam Driver did a similar move that Hayden did in The Rise of Skywalker when fighting the Knights of Ren. Based on characters, Vader would destroy his grandson in Kylo Ren. But in real life, Adam Driver could probably kick Hayden Christensen’s ass since he was an ex-Marine. Just like Ray Park can probably kick all their asses including Liam Neeson when he did Taken. Characters Vader > Maul > Smilo > Kylo In real life Ray > Adam > Hayden > Manny? I was surprised how cut Manny was in this series. Now he isn’t chiseled as say a Sly Stallone and Arnold who needs steroids to get that big, but he’s not scrawny that most of us assumed he was. I don’t get the comparisons to Ezra Miller or why he’s being called Ezra. They kinda look alike but not really. But I guess people keep calling him Ezra because of the similar haircut separated at the middle. Pacquiao who? This is the Manny we’ve been waiting for! I’ve never seen The Good Place. I first saw Manny Jacinto in Top Gun: Maverick as Fritz. He barely had any lines or scenes in it. Basically, only a background character and this was only 2 years ago. Smilo Ren (or unnamed Sith) and Sol are carrying this show. A Filipino guy and a Korean guy. Without them, this show deserves a 0% or sub-zero with the audience score. This is another attempt to make a lead female character (or characters in this case) only for her or them to be the worse part of the show. - Rey in the Sequel Trilogy. - Ahsoka in Ahsoka. Can add Sabine. - Mae and Osha in The Acolyte. Then all the complaints of other female characters like Rose, Holdo, Reva, young Leia, and so forth. Why couldn’t we just focused on Qimir/nameless Sith? Baylan and Shin carried the first part of Ahsoka prior to Thrawn’s introduction while Rosario Dawson delivered some of the most boring lines and reactions with arms crossed as if she’s high on weed. Felicity Jones got first billing in Rogue One but Jyn Erso didn’t come off annoying like Rey, Rose, Vice-Admiral Holdo, Reva, live action Ahsoka, Sabine, Hera, and these Aniseya twins all did. And many of the female characters in Andor were standouts and didn’t take anything away from how good Andor is. Mon Mothma Maarva Bix Dedra Vel Eedy The Armorer and Peli are two of my favorites from The Mandalorian, so I can enjoy female characters just as much as the males. The Acolyte is another Disney project focusing on female characters who happens to be the worst part of it. They should’ve just focused on Sol and Qimir in the first place. We don’t need all this lesbian witch coven crap. Amandla Stenberg is this year’s Brie Larson and Rachel Zegler. She’s going to be the most hated actress in Hollywood this year. She’s not making it better for herself by responding with a music video. Qimir and Sol are all people care about. Who really cares what happens to Mae and Osha? Bad acting and terrible dialogue which is worse if we know Star Wars lacks high standards for dialogue. Best lightsaber duels (live action only) 1. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in ROTS 2. Maul vs. QGJ and OWK in TPM 3. Smilo vs. 8 Jedis? Minus all the cartoons, you can argue Smilo vs. 8 Jedis is NOT even in the top 5. What about Mace vs. Sidious, Vader vs. Obi-Wan in ANH, and Luke vs. Vader in ROTJ? Even Kylo and Rey in that throne room scene after he kills Snoke was pretty cool. Same when Kylo or Ben fights the rest of the Knights of Ren in TRoS. But from a technical standpoint, this fight, while labeled “all style no substance”, might already be up there as one of the best. Smilo turned two Jedis into a human kebob. Then how he kills Jecki was pretty sick. I kinda wish we got another episode with Jecki. But I guess this time, they weren’t afraid to kill off characters unlike Grand Inquisitor, Reva, and Sabine still being alive after a lightsaber stab wound. What if The Acolyte’s final 3 episodes kicks so much ass, where would you rank it? Would it rank over Andor or the first two seasons of The Mandalorian? I highly doubt it. Mae and Osha killed this series before it started getting good because Amandla is doing her best Rachel Zegler impression. This Night episode is considered the best of The Acolyte but I still preferred Fallen Jedi and Far, Far Away from Ahsoka more and I didn’t personally love Ahsoka as a whole. Ahsoka’s Ep. 1-3 were slow, Ep. 4-6 is when it peaked, and then a drop off by Ep. 7 and 8. I gave Ahsoka a 7.5/10 overall while The Acolyte is at a 6.5. Still worse than The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ep. 5 didn’t change anything. Ahsoka also had one of the best characters ever in Baylan Skoll. While we get Yord over here. I think they killed off Jecki way too soon. She was a badass underneath it all. I love Shin Hati but Dafne showed way more badass in Jecki than what Ivanna showed with Shin and what Natasha showed with Sabine. And yeah, better than Rosario’s slow ass moves in Ahsoka. Qimir and Jecki were the highlights of this episode. I’m still hesitant watching next week’s episode. Maybe I will wait for some spoiler-free reviews. Just say right away if Ep. 6 is better than Ep. 5. Because if it is, then I will check it out. Don’t need to make a 20-minute vid getting to that point. Watch Qimir die from a very cheap death. Girl power! The ladies wins again and so easily. While the Mission Impossible movies have added so many females, but it doesn’t act WOKE like The Acolyte does by weakening the male character for the female character to triumph over him. Tyrone Magnus is questioning if this Episode 5 was a FLUKE or not? Because if it is, then things will not get better from here. If this the peak episode for The Acolyte, then the show is in trouble. Remember, we’ve been spoiled by recent episodes from The Boys and House of the Dragon which were very good. No bad acting or clunky af dialogue. We better hope the quality keeps improving. Similar to House of the Dragon, many of these Jedis during the High Republic are not battle experienced. They’re kinda soft and weak asses. But I was surprised how well Jecki could fight. When I first saw her fight Mae, I was like, I see you, girl! You go, girl in Martin Lawrence’s 90s voice. I think killing her off was too soon because I think she’s more skilled and quicker than Sol. Jecki was the Jedi’s best chance at killing Qimir. She moved better than the amateurish hits from Shin Hati attacking Ahsoka. But I guess that’s what Mae or Osha are for and they finally killed some characters unlike bringing them back after every stab wound. Expect another Rey beating Kylo TFA scene. Girl power, right Kathleen? More untrained women winning over highly trained male characters. The Acolyte needs to get better after this but I’m not sure it will. Manny’s character might be everyone’s new favorite but he’s not a character people are going to run out and buy his action figure. He still lacks the intimidating presence of Homelander and charisma of Daemon Targaryen. The Acolyte might only be remembered for being so bad and igniting this culture war between grifters vs. shills where the grifters rely on fake outrage for views while the shills calls the grifters racists and sexists. Anti-WOKE crowd: “It’s WOKE and it sucks about space lesbians! This is not Star Wars! Power of one, power of two, power of many! F this Wokelyte/Acodyke shit! Star Wars is dead! F you, shills!” WOKE crowd: “Well, you’re a racist and a sexist grifter! You’re a narrow-minded, media-illiterate, *conservative-valued,* *culture-war-obsessed* loser! Now watch me make a music video about it responding to you racist/sexist haters. Just make us good effing content. Don’t listen to the extremists from either side where one side’s point is to piss off white people and the other side’s point does have some underlying racism and misogyny. We watch to be ENTERTAINED. Not have extreme left or right wing politics shoved down our throats.
im watching this now this is OUTSTANDING my mind is truly blown this Character is MENACING has to be the best Sith yet TERIFYING.. what a GENIUS of a Writer this is.. WOW!
Yeah, he's only control of a galaxy away from topping Palpatine. 7 movies, the best part of 3 tv shows, and the opinion of 8B people from Vader, and a John Williams score from Maul.
I felt the action was…. Ok? It reminded me of when the Jedi tried to arrest Palpatine and most of them lasted a second, it was the same with this show, but then you have the padawan, Jecki, put up a much longer and harder fight than all of them, that’s just one of the things that I thought was flawed about this episode
Meg! I didn’t even consider that he could be a Ren. Especially how he said that the Jedi “might” call him a sith. I love this channel. I love your take on things. Thank you!
The Jedi ARE idiots! This goes all the way back to Obi Wan and Yoda being so convinced that Vader couldn't be redeemed. Then in the prequels, the hubris and arrogance was on full display, from Ki-Adi Mundi and Mace Windu not believing Qui Gon about the Sith, to Obi Wan refusing to believe Dooku about Darth Sidious when he was telling him the balls-out truth, to the Jedi Council throwing Ahsoka under the bus when she was framed by Barriss, to the completely AWFUL advice Yoda gave a clearly suffering Anakin, to Mace sidelining Anakin instead of bringing him with him to arrest Palpatine, which would have given Anakin a better perspective on what Sidious was pulling. And love it or hate it, in The Last Jedi, Luke pointed out that the Jedi Order's legacy was failure, and that in their hubris they allowed Darth Sidious to rise to power and take over the galaxy. Not to mention the Jedi still don't get that their views on the Force, emotions, attachments are all wrong. Love is not the enemy. It's not the path to the Dark Side that they fear it is. The love Luke and Vader had for each other is what redeemed Anakin. The love Leia and Kylo Ren had for each other is what redeemed Ben Solo. This is perhaps the Jedi Order's greatest flaw. They think that stoicism and emotional repression is the key to the Light Side of the force, but it's not! The Sith rely on anger and hate to draw on the Dark Side. The opposite of Anger and Hate is NOT stoic dispassion, it's LOVE AND COMPASSION! The Jedi could never reach their full potential in the Force because they stopped halfway between the polar opposites. I would even go as far as to say that in the Obi Wan Kenobi series, it's Obi-Wan's love for Luke and Leia that give him the strength and power to free himself from the rubble and defeat Vader. You'll notice when he had those memories/visions of the two kids, suddenly we see him more amped up and powerful than he's EVER been before. Even in Legends, Luke allowed Jedi to have relationships, marry, and have children because he UNDERSTOOD that love wasn't something to be feared, but was in fact the source of the greatest power a Jedi could tap into.
At the end when the sisters switch, OSHA’s tattoo is seen on the other arm. Is this a mistake ? I don’t recall seeing a tattoo on both arms in earlier episodes
By far the best episode of the series! It took a lot of suffering to get to this, but that lightsaber battle, as well as the deaths of so many Jedi, were quite the spectacle to observe.
Really good episode. I never understood why the showrunner had to tell the press beforehand that they were trying to beat TPM's lightsaber battle in this show, just inviting ridicule here. And it was not "better", I think, but it was more brutal and "realistic". Loved every minute of it. And yes, it makes you wonder why other battles in SW shows and films were not on the same level, but a certain amount of suspension of disbelief is always necessary, I guess. Doesn't take away from my enjoyment of any other show.
It was SUPERB!! Hold the tension and my attention the whole time!! I don't think the jedi looked silly...compared to the failed attack to Palpatine in Episode III ;P . The death of Jecki was really unpredictible. Good? Not sure. The character was a bit wasted, but her death could be a psicological bomb over Sol. I'm sure will be critics about the identity of the sith, being so easy to discover. Yes, it was really easy, but I think it is not the great mistery of the series and it was not pretended to be that way. The big misteries are: who is the real master, and what happened at Brendok. For me it was positive to see the face of the sith, such a good actor must be seen!! even more with that amazing conversation with Sol. And finally, they showed us Sol perhaps is not the perfect jedi he appeared to be. The shadow of doubt is sown... 9,5/10
If Sol wasn't seen in the fight, it's because he dawned black robes and did all the master-level saber play. Yes he pretended to be a Sith (unless he actually is a Sith) during the fight. It's a very old 'magic' trick to have two identical costumes and apply quick change artistry. Sol could have changed after the initial force push that stirred up so much dust. And changed back with Qimir towards the end of the choreography. I don't know why he would want to kill so many Jedi. Perhaps as a cover up, or being possessed by the Coven all along, or being a Sith who infiltrated the Jedi long ago.
This is the wildest theory I have heard about Episode V. Seems too far fetched but nothing is impossible. Cred for coming up with it. Qimir being the only Sith seems a bit too thin.
I said this on other YT pages, and I think it rings true: "Critics need to be patient" should be the absolute motto for the Star Wars fandom. It annoyed me seeing people complain about things that could be answered in the next episode or, you know, THE REST OF THE SERIES. And I hate to say it, but sometimes the big YT channels are just as much to blame (not naming specific ones, but just saying overall)! If you're going to hate this series, hate it once it's over. This episode was great!
If he has not faced all the trials, why would he be sooooooo powerful? He handled at least 5 Jedi at once. He killed at least 5 Jedi. His powers are off the charts! Still unsure where this is all going. Hope things start wrapping up and making sense. I agree with you, they are painting the Jedi in a very bad light. BUT if you think about it, the Jedi order is always going to be a reflection of its members at a certain time. Maybe we are seeing a portion of time when the Jedi were at a low point? Does not mean they are always like that. It does not reflect them collectively. Any government, any organization, any company... that has existed over a long period of time will have its peaks and valleys. Apparently this is a 'valley time'
I saw a theory that Qimir is gonna frame sol for the deaths . If you look back people didnt want him on this mission for his emotional attachments and I can see the blame being pinned on him for the saber wounds
Meg, you've been right about this show and I should trust your extensive Star Wars knowledge... I was not liking this show after last week, but we needed the info from last week for this week. I liked the show. Maybe it was because questions were answered.
I am kind of where you were at. While I enjoyed the fight choreography, Cortosis use, and a few things, I am still struggling with the series narrative. Not sure if I would enjoy it more as a binge, but I will wait and see what the last three episodes bring us.
The writing is nonsensical that’s why. One cool Fight doesn’t make up for 5 episodes where nothing flows. We have one character that changes her mind from good to bad several times a show😂.
I don't think Qimir revealing he's a Sith damages continuity at all. Consider - he doesn't claim to have a master, says nothing about that. As far as the Jedi know, even though Qimir is powerful, he's probably nothing more than an enthusiast who the Jedi never identified and learned on his own from history texts or came across a Sith-adjacent order, but nothing for the Order of Two. This happened a few times in Legends, especially the Young Reader "Jedi Apprentice" series. I would not be surprised if, given how far back this is, Qimir was attempting to prove his worth to Darth Tenebrous before the master selected Plagueis as his apprentice. But as far as Qimir is concerned, if Sol reports him, it's likely the Jedi will not consider Qimir to be a real Sith, thus not a real threat, which holds up Ki-Adi Mundi's insistence that "the Sith have been extinct for a millennium!" The question now is, despite Leslye Headlund's claims to the contrary, will we see Yoda show up to learn about the Rule of Two? That would be awesome! As for the action, I was sad to see Jecki die, honestly shocked by the abrupt and violent murder of Yord. And good eye, Meg, I keep forgetting about cortosis. That said, holy $#!+, I haven't seen a Sith fight that viciously in live-action since Darth Maul in "Episode I: The Phantom Menace." I admit, I didn't recognize Kylo Ren's theme though. I am not as familiar with the scores for the sequel trilogy as I am with the first six movies, Rogue One, and Solo.
Hear me out: what if Quimir is the Acolyte? We really don't know for sure who is. That could explain why he's so brash and admitting he's a Sith (something a real Sith wouldn't do and would be upset at, and he could pay the consequences for later). He's also the one that "killed a Jedi without using a weapon" (he got Mae to do it). This show could all be about his trial (and failure) as an Acolyte.
I think the twist that Master Sol is hiding, is that the fire in the temple was put by Osha...that is why Qimir feels closer to her, he sees the darkness inside her.
The only people I'm interested in so far are Sol and Q'mir. Q'mir has to know that's Oshe since her hair isn't long. Nice to see Cortosis effect in live action, though I'll always wish it was from Live Vision of the Future. It's been a while but wasn't it in the Plagius novel that the Sith went through several candidates for apprentice and eliminating those who weren't worthy until one was found? I think perhaps this will be Q'mirs fate. The action was entertaining but for me the show so far is about a 4.5 to 5.
Qimir said "I have no name but a Jedi like you would call me Sith." This could be two things. If he is indeed announcing himself as a Sith, he's doing so knowing that Sol will never get back to the Temple alive. He says as much when he says whoever sees him dies. And now Sol takes a pissed off Mae back to his ship, thinking she's Osha. He's all alone, guard down. He's good as dead. Or he's speaking in more riddles, as he's done the entire season. I was thinking he was saying that a Jedi sees the world as good or evil. The force light and dark. So Sol would probably call him Sith bit he's something else. This is why the Jedi never understood Mae, Osha, their family or the other force users of the galaxy and will end up losing bc of this closed minded way of thinking. I think it could be either of those. It really doesn't matter because it's looking like no Jedi is making it off of Khofar alive to tell the tale.
Spot on as usual Meg! I loved this episode but, like you, I have also noticed how the Jedi are being portrayed and it gives me an uneasy feeling. And this trend is not just happening in this show but throughout Disney SW. They will need to be careful with the theme of "Jedi bad" or Jedi flawed". I can see that easily going sideways. Otherwise yea, definitely headed in the right direction. I'm curious to see the last three episodes.
This was the best episode so far. Loved the fighting and the Jedi being totally panned. It's made the rest of the series much more interesting for me! Looking forward to seeing how this story unravels 😊
One thing I noticed qimir said that he has no name when sol asked his name. Could it be because he hasn't gotten a darth title yet by whoever trained him ?
this was a brutal and dark episode. i thought it was well done. qimir was unhinged. curious to see how it all ends up. i’ve been liking this series and am reserving judgment until the end.
Deploying? They were there to find Mae. Once Smilo attacked, she countered? She's a fully trained padawan, like OWK. HIs disbelief in the extent of Smilo's evil was audience participation.
I loved this episode and this show,it can do no wrong and i think the Mundi thing is to make people talk, after all no one should be taking Mundi’s word to heart in the 1st place.Thats made clear long before this show too btw. Anyway great video as always i think you’re my favorite Star Wars RUclipsr, take care now.
If qimir is the master and not the apprentice I would think him saying he is sith and using a red lightsaber would be problematic but sith do have an abundance of hubris and cockiness so I could see either qimir is killed by the master and they influence the jedi to think that qimir was not a real sith or qimir works with his master to undo his wrongs to convince the jedi he isn't a real sith. I'm sure in 1000 years this is not the first time the sith almost fully reveal themselves to the jedi.
I don't think we've seen the actual Sith Master or Apprentice yet, they will appear in the final episode. I think Qimir is either the 1st/founder of the Knights of Ren or part of a secret sect later known as the Knights of Ren. His appearance reminds me of Cardo, especially the helmet.
What did YOU think of Episode 5? 👇
Better than all previous episodes
I thought it was pretty good thanks Meg.
What about you?
Oh, I'll watch the vid to find out
I loved it, the final confrontation between the twins was only so so, the dialogue was pretty weak. Buuuuuuut everything was so cool, what a fucking battle.
I love that you were right
7/10
The fight was great
Cortosis was a ingenious card to have up his sleeve
Scar and the hyaenas (would have been cool if Qimir used force lightning on the moths instead)
Qimir's splint hilt similar to cal kestis' lightsaber was cool
Yeah i think Bazil can smell the difference between Mae and Osha
I was shocked at Jecki’s death, BRUTAL
I was glad to see it happened. She was super annoying. As were the rest of them.
she could be a new Ahsoka. sad!
Honestly, she shouldve died sooner... I cant help but to feel like Qimir dragged that fight out intentionally.
@@ICU1337 Or Headland did.
Ne too. And Yord’s.
I feel the reason Qimir says “Jedi like you would call me… Sith” was him saying yes I’m a dark side user but I’m no sith. He is the very first Ren!!!
i kind of agree, I feel like maybe he was calling out their narrow view of the force.
Has nothing to do with Ren people, y'all looking idiotic
Yeah my money is on him also thinking the sith are gone and either trying to start his own order or just thinks the jedi call any dark-sider "sith"
I can't really see this, because he was so powerful to tackle all those jedi and come out unscathed.
He's the apprentice. He's seeking an acolyte so he can finally succeed his master.
Darth Plagueis's or Darth Tenebrous's pupil maybe? or maybe just a mere tool.
@@jasonmiller6273 Not all Jedi are good fighters. They die all of the time.
Quimir executing Jackie with the 3 point triangle using his dagger saber was very dark. Big connections with the witches.

Finally a great episode
Yes a strong episode!
"Disney... are willing to kill off important characters."
Entire cast of Rogue One: "We died for nothing. We are forgotten."
@@alexpkeaton4471 I haven’t forgotten. I’m talking more recently.
It also feels like the whole Thread concept of pairs displayed in the third episode will appear again, when Osha and Mae finally work together and have stronger abilities in doing so.
Ben Solo was an important character, too. They treated him bad.
Qi'mir isn't saying the Jedi are hypocrites, just Sol.
I like them making his helmet cortosis because it explains the damage to it.
Clearly you haven't been keeping up with canon.
bro you obviously haven’t read a book in your life. also this dude if meg is right would be the main ren so basically ren prime

Yea. She was kinda mid, but seeing an Uber calculating sith like palps is just awesome.

@PaletteWIngs you're waffling
Could Venrstra mind wipe the other council members? So they'd have no memory of the incident and the deaths?
That “you tell me” line likely centers around what Sol did and knows regarding the death of Osha and Mae’s parents and coven
Meg, the theme played at the beginning and the end of the episode! Definitely a Ren connection.
They brought in Ki-Adi-Mundi ESPECIALLY because of his line about Sith later. Emphasizing how Jedi willfully bury their heads for a century.
I was very shocked at Jecki’s and Yord’s death. Holy crap!! 😱😭

@@thesbg92 Agreed, I would have loved to see more of her.
The Jedi are "idiots" ... they cause their own downfall.
Exactly
Here's a possible twist I never thought of before: Everybody assumes that Mae or Osha is the Acolyte. What if Sol turns and becomes the Acolyte?
@@scottharrop6720 Now that would be one cool twist in the myth. Love the idea.

Like watching a Sith Master cut through a bunch of Jedi Novices. Pure uselessness.
When a psychopathic "Sith Lord" is kabobbing your collegues and breaking their necks and his motivation is merely, 'I want the freedom of weilding my power the way I like and not having hide in the shadows because the Jedi don't want me to exist," he is not to be trifled with. 😂😂😂
Thanks for explaining the sabers shorting out, i didn't know what was happening there.
I think Mae is unstable mentally. Displaying wide emotional swings, as you say, as the wind blows
I agree with you. They're making Mae seem like a nut case!
Very insightful points that others did not mention.
You're one of my favorites! Great job, you go girl! ❤🎉
Reason I watch you vs SWT, is you stay calm and give decent theories. Appreciate your break down.
Sssooo one of the mothers (the Zabrak) is probably the main sith.
If you watch clone wars and read the old comics, Ki Adi Mundi is a douche, so it's not beyond him to ignore the signs in favour of saving face.
I was waiting for this review ❤
Sol will quickly learn he has Mae with him now…. Qimir may not yet know he has Osha in his ranks-if she is still alive.
He know the twins he found is Osha
Pretty certain Qimir knows. She saw the tattoo on her arm. That's why he very tenderly covered her
Him and count Doku are the only sith I know that don't have the sith eyes Anakin ended up having
I think Maye swapped clothes maybe to infiltrate jedi order?
definitley!
For a minute I thought when osha grabbed her droid and broke a piece off it was going to be a lightsaber lol
*The* *Acolyte’s* *Ep.* *5* *=* *The* *Phantom* *Menace*
Only the lightsaber duels saved this episode just like the Darth Maul vs.
Characters
Vader > Maul > Smilo > Kylo
In real life
Ray > Adam > Hayden > Manny?
Mon Mothma
Maarva
Bix
Dedra
Vel
Eedy
The Armorer and Peli are two of my favorites from The Mandalorian, so I can enjoy female characters just as much as the males.
Best lightsaber duels (live action only)
1. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in ROTS
2. Maul vs. QGJ and OWK in TPM
3. Smilo vs.
F you, shills!”
WOKE crowd: “Well, you’re a racist and a sexist grifter!
Yord knew Qimir. When he saw his face, he said, "You."
Well yes. Yord kept him under surveillance as he was the 'apothecary'. They were watching for Maevto appear
im watching this now this is OUTSTANDING my mind is truly blown this Character is MENACING has to be the best Sith yet TERIFYING.. what a GENIUS of a Writer this is.. WOW!
Yeah, he's only control of a galaxy away from topping Palpatine. 7 movies, the best part of 3 tv shows, and the opinion of 8B people from Vader, and a John Williams score from Maul.
Loved the action packed episode. Seeing a darksider cut through all those Jedi was amazing. Lightsaber battles are at the heart of Star Wars.
Thank you!
Episode blew my mind, absolutely loved it, watched it twice back to back.
This episode went wayyy too hard 🔥. Great stuff 👏🏻
At the end when the sisters switch, OSHA’s tattoo is seen on the other arm. Is this a mistake ? I don’t recall seeing a tattoo on both arms in earlier episodes
I'm finding all the criticism confusing. I'm really, really enjoying this show.
THIS IS THE BEST STAR WARS CHANNEL EVER!!!! THANK YOU MEG FOR NOT BASHING THE EPISODE.
By far the best episode of the series! It took a lot of suffering to get to this, but that lightsaber battle, as well as the deaths of so many Jedi, were quite the spectacle to observe.
You called it! Also I need to read up on Legends Sith because they seem quite formidable.
I think this is the vibe I was hoping for the whole series. I think it is finally shaping up to be better that people thought.
Manny was jacked 💪🏻
I enjoy your breakdown, true SW fan yet you do point out the limited good to the show
If Sol wasn't seen in the fight, it's because he dawned black robes and did all the master-level saber play.
Put an lol on this or something.
Apparently this is a 'valley time'
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
@@viclavar9298 Well summarized :)
I saw a theory that Qimir is gonna frame sol for the deaths . If you look back people didnt want him on this mission for his emotional attachments and I can see the blame being pinned on him for the saber wounds
I loved it, that was the best Lightsaber fight scene ever in a Live action Star Wars TV Show. I am really enjoying the Acolyte.
This show is really good. I just dont see why some of these negative nancys hate it. It fits in really well with the over all Star Wars aesthetic
The writing is nonsensical that’s why. One cool
Fight doesn’t make up for 5 episodes where nothing flows. We have one character that changes her mind from good to bad several times a show😂.
The first Ren!! I didn't think about that, but now you point it out I totally agree.
Really good episode. Great fighting and moved the story on significantly.
I totally agree that he is the first Ren, that's the first thing I thought when I saw him in the last episode
Technically he killed Yord without a weapon :) *snap
Would certainly fall in line with, the message.
What took Sol so long to join the fight? They all got pushed together
I did not hear Kylo's theme. I watched the episode twice. Does anyone know the time stamp?
this was a brutal and dark episode. i thought it was well done. qimir was unhinged. curious to see how it all ends up. i’ve been liking this series and am reserving judgment until the end.
Sol is a hypocrite for training and deploying “a child,” knowing the risks at play as several experienced Jedi had already died.
He brought half a dozen of jedi knights and had no idea the "master" would be there, just Mae, whom he defeated earlier on his own.
