I understand why Takara doesn't include English voice clips, but I think it'd be nice if they gave the option option choosing between the Japanese voice clips and the English clips

I'd also make the arguement that any company that puts voice chips into their toys should give fans the option. But considering the fact that this toy is one of the most expensive MPs, I'd expect a little more than just the Japanese clips that aren't as iconic to the character for the rest of the world
Takara make these only for distribution in Japan, I know it doesn't seem that way because consumers will have no difficulty obtaining these figures from an online store but those are just *imports* . Hasbro would be responsible for distributing this figure internationally and if by some miracle it got a proper US release it would be up to Hasbro to include English voice clips. In my opinion the notion of voice clips for these kinds of figures just seems absurd, don't get me wrong I love me some David Kaye but for a figure that has no other purpose than to stand upon someone's shelf and look pretty a voice box seems extremely arbitrary. It's "neat" I guess but it serves no practicality and most people will not use it that much anyway. Perfect gimmick for a kids toy but for a collector's figure that already sets you back a couple hundred bucks it's a pointless feature that just tacks on more to the cost.
@@chocobobafett6187 Well Takara Tomy would have to go through loops contacting through more licenses and of course from Hasbro as well in order to get those English voice clips from the show. This costs money for Takara Tomy, and they'll increase the price further because they have to gain profit back due to licensing. If the fans really want the english voice clips, it is best they announce it to Hasbro ahead of time. Speaking of which MP-44 Convoy (Optimus Prime) is coming soon this year in August 2019, this figure will have voice clips from the JP show. If Hasbro cares enough for their main IP/money grab character, they'd put the english voice clips from the show onto the North American release; or if Hasbro gives the okay for Takara Tomy to add the english voice clips to the JP version. Thus if you folks want to have the english voice clips for further Transformers figure releases contact Hasbro.
It would be a nice touch considering the Japanese VA sounds like he's off his rocker. It just isn't Megatron without the cold and calculating elegance.

When I saw the toothbrush I thought it also had the rubber ducky. I'm sensing some 3rd party optional parts brewing, with a new soundboard ready for surgery.

Considering Megs was the only pilot episode character to show their proto-form, it was nice they included it in the figure.(well as much as they could.)
Call me weird, but I absolutely adore the backpack. It’s exactly what you’d expect for folds of plastic skin to compress into. I hope the eventual masterpiece rattrap has a similar transformation to his backpack

@@810462841 so far, we have Optimus, Cheetor, Dinobot, Megatron and Blackarachnia. Tigatron and Tarantulas have been confirmed. So all we need now is Rhinox, Rattrap, Airazor, Scorponok, Terrorsaur, Waspinator and Inferno. I hope they also give us a Quickstrike, Silverbolt, Depth Charge and Rampage.

I love that out of all the product reviews I have seen for this figure, you’re the only one that has transformed the back panels correctly. The back paneling is canon to the show. You always are the leader in Transformer product reviews!

This figure looks as close to the actual Megatron that we're probably ever gonna get, and you did a great job displaying all the parts, accessoires
(that toothbrush is hysterically genius!) and lights + sounds.
That end piece was very 'excellent, yessss'! Really shows a skit like can be even better if you can use multiple faceplates on a figure, which you put to great use.

Emgo, for the voice clips there's another 2 more sets to go. Just long press until you hear his transformation sound, you will find a set of voice clips which is more than the 1st set. The 3rd set will be his Dino head laser blaster effects.
Yes, and if you click it over and over after the voice stop, some of them are a hentai anime girl voice (the ship computer voice and black arachnia voice)

I don't know if you ever noticed in the beast wars cartoons but there are 1 or 2 episodes where Megatron actually pet his dinosaur head or he was brushing it's teeth and the eyes were looking at him.

He doesn't have the ducky, obviously because Ducky was a recurring character.

Oh god. Its one of those figures. One thats so reliant on tiny tabs to hold one of its modes together, that you are terrified of transforming it.
There’s also extra neck joints just to let you know, most people seem to be missing them due to how stiff they are.
Great review. Love that they are making the Beast Wars figures into MP's. One thing though. Where is the rubber ducky accessory?!?!
Hopefully a good KO of this figure becomes available because I can't afford this figure where I live due to conversion rates.
I collected the MP line for years, I bought MP01 the first day he was imported from Japan. I have almost all of them. But I'm a father now and I just can't afford this stuff anymore. Remember that famous line from the movie fight club: "The things you own wind up owning you."

Emgo! Fantastic review :) But you missed that he has a double hinge to lift the head up and allow him to look up and down for dynamic poses (best lifted up from the underside), as well as that the shoulders should be clicked back when transforming into robot mode.

I think leaving T-rex eyeballs not rolled up is not a mistake. I remember one episode where Megatron was sleeping in his chair but head was awake and peeked around proving Megatron never sleeps even when he sleeps ;).

Until a few years ago, I never actually saw any episodes of Beast Wars besides the first appearance of the Transmetals and the first of the Fuzors, so I had no idea what the beast mode of Megatron before transmetalization looked like. It is pretty awesome. I still wish we could get Masterpiece releases of some of the Transmetals, like that form of Megatron.

just ordered mine finally competing my takara mp collection (had to settle for mp 38 over the original primal but its growing on me) can't wait for him to release more! for now im using kingdom and TFE stand ins lol.
The eyes rolled up in the head is actually kinda crucial because it would be weird if he was looking through his robot mode head and his dino head
When you popped his face plate off i expected a scream like in the Simpsons episode of Itchy and Scratchy Land when the robots would scream when you removed their face plates. Lol

I grew up with Beast Wars. Love that they are making Masterpiece figures for them. Wish they make a masterpiece for the dragon Megatron. That was my fav. Or the transmetal 2 Dinobot.

To have a complete cast from the Energon mountain beast mode battle; for maximals, we would need Masterpiece rhinox and rattrap. For predacons we would need Masterpiece tarantulas, scorponok, terrorsaur, and waspinator.
