Freak Audio Lab - Quad Damage Konnakol

- Breaking down Quad Damage, using Konnakol, this exceptionally useful Indian rhythm language that'll broaden your musical understanding a great deal once you get a mere fraction of it under your skin. Sure, I do get my ignorant buttocks kicked by my Indian friends every now and then when I practice it upside down but hey, I am just a Neanderthal Swede cooking a seriously home-brewed freak (veggie) stew, so bear with me.
Freak Audio Lab Vox Bot: Brent Moore
This guy is too cool for words...
4:31 I never knew Mattias's english accent would make me laugh so much, am I just here for the memes or am I here for the music? (why not both? it's 10/10 either way!)
Everyone: u need a pick in metal for the attack
Mattias IA Eklundh: hold my taki ti ta
I love this guy
You probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Kashton Emiliano Instablaster =)
@Royal Makai thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Royal Makai It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass!
@Kashton Emiliano Happy to help =)
Your playing is so refreshing. I've been listening to your work since Art Metal and just recently I discovered you have an youtube channel, but everytime I listen to your playing I discover something new.
"Pickup harassment" - new t-shirt in the making?!
It also perfectly describes how Quake players fight against each other
the description haha
also, every time the talkbot says "Freak Audio Lab" its super funny and i dont know why
We love you Mattias and Freak Kitchen crew! Heres to Quake! Thanks for uploading so often these days! And I love your explanations and dialogue.
Oh that sounds so good to the ears
Back to the drawing board for me :D
Well, you old geezer. The mention of konnakol has won you a new fan (even I'm not a huge fan of ultrabass djent tones). Loving the rythms and scales - thank you for the music and the inspiration!
I discovered Shawn Lane Last year! I have been hooked on his Music, and I have been learning as much as I can within the realm of my abilities. Mattias Is amazing, and I assume he is inspired by Mr. Lane. I am now subscribed and I will be watching and listening closely so I can assimilate what I am able to, and what appeals to me! Mattias seems incredibly humble, considering his astronomical skills! Thank you for this channel sir!! 🎸🎭🥁🕊🏴☠️😎💜🌎
Honestly fantastic, really reminiscent of Quake's industrial music past as well. I'm honestly not sure how I wasn't a subscriber to your channel before, but all is remedied now. ❤️
The examples needs to be a song, holy fucking fuck, so tasteful, truly inspiration, and the videos are so fun to watch, just amazing
That fretboard makes me think I'm drunk :) Super impressed with your knowledge of Indian classical percussion. Love from India. Keep the gaming going!
Thank you so much for giving QC the exposure it needs! It's an amazing game, so of course an amazing man is playing it too!
thank you for always sharing your creativity! incredible inspiration.
Loved this video, sir. It's great to learn more about what inspires you and to learn more about you as a person. Incredible guitarist, and a seemingly fun and great guy all around!
Ive been doing the same thing on my fretless Jazz bass for years.
Setup with distortion, delay and a flanger effect to sound like a klaxon siren. I pluck the open E and let it ring for a whole note then, with my palm slam the open E down onto the Duncan quarter pounder in passive. It gives a repeating echo of a small pop,pop,pop,pop....for 5 repeats then a whole rest and stop...and again....
Great effect.
al fin entendí uno jajajja... que grande que sos!!!!!!! Nunca me aburro y siempre algo se aprende...
Awesome, thx a lot for all these videos
Ok I think you are the greatest guitarist/musician of this century hands down
I am so happy to see another musician using Konnakol or Bols. I haven't utilized those since college. I used to study tabla a little bit and is really awesome but really complicated with how they truncate things.
So glad you're putting now more these videos out :) so educating and entertaining at the same time.
Good job portraying indian scale and rhythm pattern .. these are mainly used in classical dance music but played out nicely in metal ... Good job
Of course you would play QC, love it hahaha. That's another reason to get back into the game 😋
Thank you Mr. Eklundh ! This video made my day ! You officially became my most favorite guitar master !
Nothing wrong with playing video games, regardless of age. They help maintain/improve your focus & reaction speed. Andy Timmons did a track for the Duke Nukem game. Just keep bringing us the freak, & you’ll be fine!🏆😎.
Your off your head Haha love it. Massive fan of the cap guitars too man. Defo will grab some tricks off you cheers dude.
Seriously one of my newfound, favorite, guitarplayers
I would really love a konnakol tutorial series or something. I've tried looking into it a little and it's a kinda tricky to find good resources for it.
There are some great youtube channels and books out there about just Konnakol, get stuck in but really nothing beats the practice.
@@AttitudeCastle What channels would you recommend?
Excellent!
My mind is blown wide open. Thank you for the Intel and groove.
Been gaming since the first video game Pong. I grew up in game rooms and pool halls where I also saw a lot of bands. I'm 50 now and I still game, always will.
Tiptop!
Quake 2 veteran and Smorgasbord and John Carpenter fan here 😂, love your work Mattias ❤️👍 - I also play Big Machine every now and again, love that.
I also share the love of guitar and video games, keep your videos coming, earned yourself a new sub!
Jesus Mattias, just when I thought you couldn't get more awesome, it turns out you're playing my favorite game. I gotta get back to the arena in the hopes of getting a frag in ;)
Legend
He's the most unique guitar player of all times, no one is close to his freak mind :)
You make me blush, sir. :)
Really cooool... Something new to watch. Suscribed
you are an inspiration...lots of love from India !
Loved this, IA! Great to see the cat is out of the bag. Also, your meat metronome now makes a very convincing click sound!
Please keep explaining Konnakol!!! it is soooo interesting!!!
A true 100% elite quad damage guitarist! Mattias Eklundh 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
in my mind said why? , but i like it. i will take sometime to assimilate those time warp signatures. cheerweedeepisyguipeety
Got dammit IA, once again you get me hooked.. This is fantastic!
See you next summer I guess. =)
I LOVE the crunch sound you get by 2 finger banging that bottom low string on that pickup...Real RATTLE-CRUNCH...lolol...I remember Eddie Van Halen doing something similar on his Charvel on 'Romeo Delight' but the lower tuning here is really CRRRRRWWWLLL.......lol....Great stuff here....Love the triplets to 16ths...'sometimes you have to breathe'...lol
Very cool stuff, and that guitar is a monster!
I'm a huge fan of Quake since the first game, and also a fan of Freak Kitchen...love to see my interests cross over :)
It's awesome how videogames each year inspire more and more how things are shaped. Keep working on it dude!
hes like a really Scandinavian Dimebag
Totally different energies between the two.
Why is the need to compare anything with dimebag , jeez ...this dude has nothing to do in is approach to music , with him
I thought Viking fighter 😅
rao1087 i meant he looks like dimebag playing a practical joke on someone and dyed his hair and beard and shit.
@@kuringmundo what?
Brilliant guitarist.....
You should do a collaboration with mick gordon for the new doom eternal, food for thought
I love your technique!

A master guitar player and a funny guy 👏👏
Great.
I f*cking love this guy. Big thanks to Ola Englund, I may not have discovered Mattias if it weren't for Coffee With Ola :)
That solo at 5:19 is u n r e a l
So he didn't fart at 0:44 . He said later on the video that the carpenter did :D

Mattias is a really cool guy!
Loved you vid
Anyone remember the Unreal arena that was an apartment? I used to play that one for days on end. Quake, Doom, and anything else ID put out then was what I played in the early 90s too. Oh yeah, Sierra games when the creator of secrets of nimh was writing for them. Man this brings me back! 😂
You mean the one that was a downtown with tall buildings, but they were all open?
I never could find that one on any of their consoles. That arena was a free download patch in like '96/'97 for the pc Unreal Tournament v. of that year. (the free to play one)
@@kungflucious2144 no this one was just the inside of an apartment. You could go in the oven, ductwork, tv stand..etc. I think I remember what you're talking about tho
I’m really glad I subscribed!
I fucking love this guy ! Song sounds cool as fuck
Mattias using green screen is a rather rare sight lol. Such a good insight music wise though, thanks!
This playing techniche should have a freaking name, Viking Dance!
This warms my rail gun
This warms my frag pipe. ❤️
Like what this guy has forgotten about is music is more than I know about music.
Hejsan svejsan! Bra grejer! (Great stuff! for the non Swedish readers...)
Please do a collab with B.C. Manjunath 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Excellente 👹
hihihi, you should come again back to Ola's. some of the guys, even Ola love to play Quake as well. Could be funny with you
Anyone know what strings he uses?
What a cool dude
Mattias I'll play with you! I really enjoy Champions
as well and the pace of the game :)
FREAK AUDIO LABBBBBB
After one zillion times i did a "Tha Ka Dhi Mi Ta"
4:27: ”And then ... to challenge yourselves ...”
Djenting and gaming go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Alter Schwede 🤟 you rock, IA
All this stuff was in Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects more than 10 years ago.
Meshuggah music is the genre.
He was doing the same stuff too around that time
@@himanshuhimanshu2331 sorry, it was more than 20 yers ago
Whoa, I think I played Quake Champions with you in the closed beta and didn't know who you were. I also use your presets in EZMix2. I'm adding you and reinstalling QC. My handle is 'Keanu', let's frag again buddy!
Holy shit never knew that he plays Quake.
Love u
Could it be that he's doing .... Carpentry, 🤫 freak audio carpentry requires listening 🎧
