Ed! I deeply appreciate you and these videos man! You’re literally a scientist
Aw, thanks man. Much appreciated!
the vibrato in the Chroma doesn' t come anywhere close to the Magma, but the drive does sound pretty good.
Perhaps, but I worked on it some more later and with the secondary and gesture functions it can get dang close.
What do you think about Ghost and Chroma in comparison? They have similar set of fx and both can be modulated wildly with gestures/LFO. After some reviews it felt like Chroma is more suitable for desktop use or DJing, when your hand are free and you can write gestures. Also, one knob per effect seems too restricted. If you had to choose one, which would you recommend for an exprerimental guitar playing?
Oh wow, that's a tough one as I use them together pretty exclusively. I don't see Chroma as a "desktop" unit at all, but I can understand how some folks see it that way. It actually has two knobs which are effective for tweaking each channel, one knob a bit more than the other, but I understand what you mean (don't forget the secondary functions). If I had to pick one? Hmmmm...maybe the Ghost is slightly better as a single all-arounder but I think you get more out of the Chroma ultimately. I would definitely prefer another reverb after the Chroma however on its own. Hope that helps.
@@EdPettersen thanks!
@@portwain My pleasure, any time.
Do you recommend the Eventide H90 or would you go for a Chroma?
Hmmmm...that's a tough call because they're a bit different but probably the Chroma. It covers more ground in a similar package and sounds great.
Thanks. Have you tried the Ampero Mini? @@EdPettersen
@@jazznan1 Not yet, no.
