What's YOUR "mini rig" of choice? Same rules apply!
Cali76 Compact Deluxe, Browne ATOM, Donut Hole OD, Walrus Audio D1, UA Golden.
nano+ technically but i think that still counts lol
If I have to stick to what I have now:
- PRS Custom 24: humbucker tones, quasi-strat and tele tones, vibrato, good upper fret access
- Victory V40 Deluxe (has on-board spring reverb and tremelo)
- XW-1 -> OCD (or maybe a Bender fuzz) -> Archer Ikon -> [amp] -> El Cap -> Deco
If I can choose anything I want:
- Custom S-style with HSH, 2 volume and 2 tone, 7-sound mod + jimmy page mod, piezo, trem bar, the works
- Friedman BE50DLX (Buxom Betty Clean + BE and HBE channels)
- XW-1 -> Archer Ikon -> [amp] -> El Cap -> Flint -> Deco
That means I'm leaving out compression, (maybe fuzz), modulation (chorus and tremelo are my favorites), ampless box (iridium), and a volume pedal.
@@EnterJustice really great choices both ways! Love the second rig.
Diy strat, peavey backstage 2 as monitor, rowin odrive ii, joyo american sound amp sim, digitech RP360 for mod effects, delay, reverb. Bonus tuner, looper, drums and recording. 8" X 13.5"
For practice only at this stage.
Love the video dude! I try to be as minimal as I can be with my rig, especially my live rig. HSS strat, 5 pedals and a Fender Pro Junior (J Rockett Blue Note in front of it, always on, turns it into a Vox/Fender... JHS morning Glory in front of that turns it into a Marshall-y kind of tone. 🤘🏻
Love it! Simplicity makes me play better live usually. Depends on genre, but minimalist rigs help me focus.
Great demo excellent choice of amp and guitar. I also use a Flint and Strymon sometimes a Boss DD500 for my delay choice. I like the Norton , but would probably go with another fuzz. I use the Buffalo FX Germanium fuzz best I have ever used or maybe even a Wren and Cuff 60's Yourface Fuzz. Cheers
Thanks man! Yeah, the Golden Fleece is a “love it or hate it” pedal. Ideally I’d have something with a tone control, but dig the simplicity too. Hear great things about Buffalo FX and Wren & Cuff too!
Awesome video. My favourite minimalist setup: es335 with a bassbreaker 30r. And my board would be a Sunface > Protein > Collider
Thanks man! Killer choices 👌🏻
Not including tuner I’d do: PRS Starla Core with Protein > Alexander Wavelength > Collider into my Peavey Classic 30.
Alternate setup would be KOT and Wavelength into front but Collider in the fx loop giving me the option for the amp’s gain channel, boost and reverb.
That’ll do it!
enjoyable video.... subscribed
Thanks man! A lot more where that came from 🤘🏻
Rockin👌👌👌
Thanks man!
Killer video! My minimalist rig would be the following: Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe -> Browne Protein -> Diamond Memory Lane DLX -> Strymon Flint. The amp would be my Jackson Newcastle 30 and the guitar would be my Fender Elite Telecaster. I also have a Fender HSS Ultra Strat but, similar to you, I'm more at home with a Telecaster.
Love that! Great choices. Hard for me to kick the strat, but I’d be happy with either one honestly.
Really good video! My most minimal rig would probably be: My PRS with coil split, so I basically have 6 pickup positions, any amp with enough headroom and a great speaker, an overdrive that cleans up really well, boost, delay and tremolo.
Thank man- and great rig!
I have a HSS do what I did I modded my strat to add the neck pick up to the bridge to get that telecaster sound. And also where I can add all 3 pick ups. Right now I have it to where the humbucker doesn’t spilt but I plan on adding another push pull to add the neck and spilt the humbucker for a true Tele sound.
Also I should add I think you can tap tempo on the flashback mini. If I’m not mistaken you can hold the switch down and it mutes your signal and I think you strum the tempo you want on your strings while having the strings muted. But overall this mini set up sounds good!
Thanks man! Yeah, I think I remember something similar about the flashback mini, but live that’d be harder for me haha. Plus I love the El Cap, so not mad that I chose it 😎
@@RiggsTaylor haha yeah tbh I wouldn’t chose that mini either haha!! So I don’t blame you!
I would definitely pick my stomp and my protein and that HSS strat for my mini rig. Lol I don’t have a real amp so I’m stuck with my stomp. lol
@@aaronsanchez93 Nothing wrong with the stomp! If I had to go out and build a “mini rig” that could do it all, the stomp would be high on the list, especially if I needed to travel light or fly.
@@RiggsTaylor definitely agree! I never really liked the drives that much in the stomp there are some that are amazing but the protein could definitely take all my drive needs!
I have basically the same rig: Suhr Classic Antique HSS (Asatobucker), Badger 35 with matching cab, Flint, Timeline, Tchula, Variac Fuzz. For Band n2 I use a Mesa Boogie MarkV25 instead of the Badger and resently I bought a Divided by 13 FTR37. (still would always bring a 2nd guitar...my LP R7, Friedman T with P90s or my Revstar) I really don't want much more when playing.
I bet those rigs sound awesome! Agreed on the second guitar- I would always bring a backup if I had one.
My mini pedalboard: wampler Tumnus, keeley aria, line6 hx stomp
Great setup! Pedals like the Stomp make it very easy to have all you need in a compact setup.
My mini board: J Rocket Lenny > Trex Alberta > Micro Qtron > Way huge Aqua Puss > OneControl Prussian Reverb
Killer!
My PRS Custom 24 into the ProCo Rat (acting as a fuzz), into the Ceriatone Centura (Klon), into the Coffin Blood Drive, then the Voodoo Labs Analog Chorus, into the TC Electronics T2 Reverb. My amp is the Orange Dark Terror with a oversize 112 cab loaded with a 70 watt Eminence speaker. I mostly play Goth Rock, Post Punk, Industrial Metal and Doom Metal. That's my rig and it pulls off everything I need.
Sick!
@riggs Thanks. Awesome video!
Love your selection and videos dude! I am debating on the Badger 30 head and cab or the Deluxe. Your Deluxe is 2x12 right? Also, I can tell your Bad Cat is 2x12 but what made you want to go with a 2x12 instead of a 1x12?
Actually both are 1x12! The BadCat cabs are a bit oversized. I have a 2x12 bandmaster cab (not pictured), but I always use 1x12 for gigs.
@@RiggsTaylor Ah, I see. So what exactly do the “12”’s mean? I’m an amateur lol.
@@Claybraham91 12” speaker! A 1x12 has a single 12” speaker, 2x12 has two 12” speakers
@@RiggsTaylor that’s what I figured but just wanted to clarify. Thank you!
My mini gig rig: modded blues jr, Gibson Nighthawk, Love pedal Tchula, Waza Chorus, Way Huge Aqua Puss, Boss tuner
SOLID choices! The Tchula is really cool, and I have a soft spot for the Aqua Puss since it was my first delay pedal.
Strat into:
MXR Phase 90 > Nobels ODR-1 > WAY HUGE Saucy Box > MXR Micro Chorus > WAY HUGE Aqua Puss.
That’s 5 pedals. If I had to take one off it would be the chorus.
Awesome setup! Love the ODR-1.
You should start a Chris Isaac cover band : 11:15
Fun fact- that same progression is also in “Garands” by Young the Giant. But of course, maybe more familiar in “Wicked Game”
Dark world, Thermae , brothers , MC3
That’s a vibe
