It really makes me wonder whats in store for the next big 3d mario game, especially after bowser fury. The posibilities and ideas seem endless and it seems that everyday we are getting closer and closer to that big reveal that will probably blow us away in concepts we never even thought about!
One of the best teams at Nintendo for sure. A new group having to handle the development of the MAINLINE SUPER MARIO GAMES and demolishing all expectations and hurdles and creating defining games that rival, or even SURPASS the previous Mario titles in scope and quality is simply fucking respectable. I cannot wait for next mainline Mario game from them, I know they're gonna make an absolute banger yet again.
Such a fantastic video man! Hopefully you will do more of these game development kind of videos in the future. I've read almost all of the Iwata asks and the new developer interviews too. Got really inspired to reading them all again. 😄🎨🎨🎨
it's just crazy they have not put out any new Mario games themselves for the past 8 years. Looking at the wiki, they did help with mariomaker 2 and helped with 3d all stars and Bowser's Fury over this time but we could have had at least 2 Odyssey sequels in that amount of time.
This video was amazing! I loved jungle beat as a kid and played it all the time, and when i found out these guys made it it blew my mind! Id love a video like this of HAL! Their work is always such hight quality, and theyve done so much!
Ah what dunkey calls "the greatest video game studio of all time". Honestly, it's hard to disagree. They're probably the most consistently great Nintendo studio.
Decent video as always. As for some unrelated news I'm not sure you're up on or not. Apparently Nintendo acquired the remaining 3% outstanding shares that the directors of Monolith held on the company. The sleuths at famiboards figured this out by comparing the website for monolith, which has updated. Monolith itself has also provided an update, stating that it's staff now number just shy of 300, up from the mid 260's a year back.
It amuses me a little that Iwata said they were the first to create spherical worlds when Insomniac had done so earlier with the Ratchet and Clank games, but I suppose that's kind of the Nintendo silo effect: they do not look at outside games and aren't very aware of them. Shame, but it is what it is.
You could argue the R&C games barely touched the surface of spherical worlds, ie Nintendo were the first to implement hundreds of smaller spherical worlds to make an entire level.
I've always hated the sphere based gameplay in Mario Galaxy..im not happy its regarded so well.. Im also not happy everyone thought Odyysey was incredible...i hated the art direction and the game felt unambitious. I was happy Odyysey was more akin to 64 but its levels were crap baring a couple exceptions...and no i don't mean NewDonkCity..that was amkngst the worst. Nothing mainline mario has impressed me since Mario 64..and im not excited about future titles. Its not that im a Playstation or Xbox fan( not interested )...i only buy Nintendo consoles. Gamings starting to bore me
Something about your writing style makes your videos feel like one excruciatingly long run-on sentence. Stuff just keeps happening, new ideas just keep appearing, but nothing is ever really resolved or finished, and it just goes on, and on, and then there's the next thing, and the next thing, etc. It's supposed to be an analysis, but it feels like a disordered stream of consciousness. There's no setup and payoff - it's just A then B then C then D then E then F then G then H then we're done - but a narrative is more than just a bunch of events in sequence. There's no thesis or central theme, and it's impossible to come away with any new concrete understanding. It's just a bombardment of information which, taken altogether, just registers as noise.
Firstly, thanks I guess that you don't enjoy it but you interacted with the content anyway. Obviously, I disagree with your assertions - there is a structure here. Now it’s a different structure even from a usual video and it is, I grant you, a lot more sequential - there's not a central argument so much as an account of the life of this studio. But if you look at the script, there’s a deliberate structure. There are callbacks and cross-references, a few jokes subtly put in for pacing. Trust me when I say I’ve been writing for a long time and for some diverse audiences. Now that’s not to say it’s to your taste. Clearly, it isn’t. And I think it’s fair to say that I have specific stylistic choices on the channel which may not help. For one, I like to keep things lean. I could spend a lot more time at the top and and mid-points, wrapping up and summarising and talking around the points. Frankly, it would probably earn me more in ad revenue. But I like content that is pacy - I'd ultimately rather people feel they need to listen twice than feel like they're being hit over the head. Sometimes I don’t get that balance right of course. I could also use other pattern interrupts - music, sound cues etc. - but frankly it would take me a long time and I'm not sure it would make a dramatic enough difference to the content. However, I am thinking about it.. As well as this, I do like things to flow and I do use conjunctions at the start of sentences. This gives the appearance, I guess, that they're run-on sentences. But they're not. As you can perhaps more plainly see in text here. However, you will notice even in this response that I use cohesive markers a lot and, again, this is because I have a certain rhythm that I like to lean into. It's not "stream of consciousness" - the scripts are all pre-written and edited (although ironically most YT scripts probably are bullets for a stream of consciousness discussion!). I suspect - though it’s difficult to tell externally - that I have quite a distinctive writing “voice”. And ultimately, I always feel that it’s better or at least more authentic to lean into this. I’ll have a think about how I can ensure these things are open to a wider audience but I fear that most of what you’re responding to are just my writing “voice” which I’m not going to to change much. Certainly I hope you can get into the rhythm of it and appreciate it on its own terms and still enjoy the content. And if not, I still appreciate the fact that you took the time to post.

@nintendoforecastIf i can chime in i find you to be one of the most well spoken writers ive ever seen on youtube, and your videos are so pleasant, enriching, and easy to listen to that they are my favorite thing to put on and each new upload is a wonderful surprise. thank you for doing what you do and stepping in to fill a niche with quality content

I think the next game will be open like Bowser’s Fury except bigger, but without the 3D World stuff. So no powerups and better controls like Odyssey
@@sahaprocks7751A Mario Odyssey Succesor but grander beyond our imagination.
Mario takes Aztec Mushrooms
This is one of the best deep dives yet. It gets me pumped! I love how Nintendo prioritizes fun above all.

I still don’t know how they’re gonna top Mario Odyssey. Maybe that’s why the next Mario game is taking so long
“Sparks of hope began to shine on the embattled kingdom”
Love the subtlety of this reference
This makes me anticipate the next 3D Mario so much more! These guys have have only just begun to hit their stride!
This channel is always on top when it comes to analyzing Nintendo!
I appreciate the informative content :)
Interesting deep dive as always!
7 mins in, great content 😊✅
Thank you!
It astounds me how well researched your videos are, Nintendo Forecast!
16:17 Nice.

Documentary level research, best video yet.

amazing topics mate, you should do mario wonder if there's enough info.

Good vid
This looks like it would have been such a cozy game. It’s like they made every possible wrong choice when developing sticker star.

Do you really expect an forecaster to paint pictures or wax poetics? Thats how they talk and you either get it or you don't.
