somos el mejor pais de Chile, hermano! grandes los amigos de DSM & Humboldt! un gran orgullo que productos chilenos estén triunfando así! a great pride for Chileans!
Man these guys really know their circuits. I have their Simplifier DLX and it’s incredible, I might just have to get this compressor 😰
These guys build top notch gear , good quality components used to.
These guys know what they are doing, I have the Simplifier and enjoy it very much 😀😀
Never heard of these guys but the passion shows. Will give them a look.
Watching Lee talk to the people who made the products is almost like getting to talk with them myself. Lee isn’t thinking about marketing so much as just trying to understand the gear himself. And since these guys are DSM & Humboldt rather than just a sales guy you get it “from the horse’s mouth”. Either that, or the three of you are so good at this that you fooled me. 😁
No one could pull that shirt off twice 😂
I've been dying for a comp pedal that has proper, actual compressor controls. A knob labelled 'compression' that makes it louder tells me nothing. This is gold. Pure gold.
Agree
Real good on jazz guitars, brighten the sound up and every detail is more in the mix! Yes it's studio gear ;-) Love it!
I love my DSM Simplifier. I'll buy and recommend any of their gear.
The Shoot out is Definitely a must for a Comparison on the Tonal compression Differences for Me To Decide on the Purchase but I do like it So Far 👍👍🎶🎶🎸Awesome Video Guys.
Cool that dude has the best beard ever...
Ooooh shootout! I hope you include the EHX Tone Corset
Top review fellas, well explained and not too technical. Glad Lee's a philistine. 😂😂 👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
I want it just for the Neve style knobs!
This is my favourite compressor pedal. I’ve owned many comps over the years including a few Cali76 compact compressors. Something I don’t like about the origin effects compact compressors is how much they darken the top end of my tone. The DSM to me is as transparent as it gets. To my knowledge the only other comp pedal as transparent as this is the big box Cali76 TX-L.
I like a lot of compression in a mix on certain guitars and when playing Police songs for fun at home.
I like DSM Humbolt a lot and I'm sure that with this many parameters this is a great compressor but Lee is 100% right: compression is a pretty obscure effect and it's difficult to sell. (You could corner the market in Funk guitar and still not sell many!) I'd really like this effect to be included in a shootout against other compressors (such as Wampler), so that we could all understand the practical uses.
When the video doesn't start with guitar sounds you know it's not going to be easy to understand
captain looks like a mr.bean in the photo of video! I have the ULTRAWAVES of source audio is amazing! for Comp and boost and super distort
Between the Simplifier and now this compressor, it's like DSM & H are going after the same niche as Origin Effects and their Origin Drive and Cali76. Smells like a shootout may be in order
Which is better you think
Yeah, that's what they call the blend on studio compressors... Parallel Compression.
the compressor is in parallel with the dry signal.
Captain I feel the same thing to that I something turn it off get in he way I can,t explain
For your future demonstrations... Starting with a lesson on compression parameters is great, but you really need to play the same thing multiple times with different parameters to show us what the pedal's doing. If your noodling changes with each parameter change, we have to guess what it would sound like otherwise.
I really struggled seeing the setting. Noel would have been disappointed 😂
Adding distortion on single lines, masks a heavy sustaining compression
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
this is jah-no 😎😂
This was interesting, but honestly I think it was let down by Lee's lack of knowledge and understanding or perhaps even enthusiasm about compression. I think a few hours of study beforehand would have enabled him to ask much better questions, which in turn would have allowed his guests to provide a much better overview of their product, both for people who DO understand compression already and want to know specifically what makes this product different from what's already there, and for those who do NOT already understand compression and who need to know what it does and whether it's something they should consider in their rig at all. After all they did fly in from another continent - seems a shame not to have done a better job.
I agree. Those guys really know their stuff. I could have listened to them talk about their pedal and compression in general, including more demos, for much longer. It should have been more about the product than of Lee's thoughts on compression. With all due respect of course.
Yeah, but ... he was letting the guys who built the thing explain it, only if you don't already know a LOT about compression, it didn't go far. IMHO. The idea is -- you got five minutes to tell me why I should BUY it. Sometimes when I turn on compression, it really will make the difference.
A lot of guitarists I know don't use a compressor. I think Lee probably doesn't and isn't usually all that interested. It can be an aquired taste. (I love compressors!) He does own a huge f**king store though, and he decided to carry this compressor and let these guys come on and showcase their pedal, which is cool of him overall. THis pedal sounds good. I'm guessing it's DSP and not analog? I may have missed that fact if they mentioned it.
@@musicmann1967 It's analog. All their stuff is analof
Right, it really didn't do their device justice at all. I do use compression for the sustain but always have to compromise the levels between the effect and the the noise. Whereas with this device, those limitations seem to be virtually eliminated.
The Keeley Compressor Plus is a great compressor for a third of the price.
I have both and the Keeley Mini and I'm sorry to say that they're like night and day 😅
The DSM is WAY more silent, versatile and can be more subtle, without any impact on your tone. The construction and component quality is also top notch in the Clearcomp. I hope it helps!
I sold the + right away because of the noise. Not such the case with the Effectrode or the RT Electronics and Origin to a lesser extent. You get what you pay for.
Captain I Lean the same way
Why would a guy with no experience with Compression interview people about their compression pedal?
: )
Chilean language = spanish =)
Doesn't exist.
Fourth - apologies
actually a funny "i got here first" type comment. nice one dude.
second!
first last!
