How to make a wooden lock for a cabinet. The cabinet also has wooden hinges. Instagram: / jaxdesignnet Twitter: / jaxdesignnet Facebook: / jaxdesign-512430528895179
Came across your channel from my interest in woodworking. I see you are a piano tuner technician. My late father was a tuner for probably 80 years and he and my late uncle were charter members of PTG. Am looking forward to all of your videos and builds.
Jack, would love to see you make your version of a puzzle box. Keep on doing what you do. Great stuff. When I retire in three years, I hope to be doing a little of this.
That type of wooden lock is known as hvølpalás (puppy-lock) in my country - but usually they have metal keys. A lot of people will keep them as puzzles, as they can be a bit tricky to open.
Nice creative work. You could go all wood by replacing your bolts w/ attractive contrasting color dowels (or wooden bolts (if you have a Beall thread cutting kit).
Very nice lock! as an idea, if you would make the pins different sizes, like : small-medium-large, you wont need a key to lock it! might try to make one myself! thanks for sharing
if you pull it all the way out probably the pins will fall. yet the latch bolt teeth dimensions and pin dimensions will match at that half drop position so pins wont fall all the way when the key is out
I was thinking about making a lock for the outer part of my door to prevent burglars from getting in. No matter how many times I change the locks , when I am not home they get in , just because they use tech little known to most people. The lock would have to be made of steel. I would have to change the door to a door of steel. The lock would have to screwd and glued with a strong glue to the door or welded to it. Those pins and the key, their format , etc belongs to a part of mathematics called Topology. So my key and the pins would have to have a much more complicated topology for the burglars not get in. Also it seems the pins have a spring inside the hole where they are placed. If this is the case the K of my springs would have to be very big. So it would be hard for the key to raise the pins. If it's easy they will do it remotely. The Topology would be better if there was no need for springs and no one could damage the lock from outside as easily. I am trying hard to understand the design and I don't think I've grasped everything yet. I need a strong and reliable outer lock so much and it's not only me. No electronic or devices with passwords would do for me. It must be physical key to open the lock. No electronic safety measure produced any effect. I dealing with people with high tech and no respect.
@@Jacka440 Obviously, since it's wood. And acrylic. I meant it's not very hard to lockpick and such :P But very ingenious and well crafted design. Back in the days you'd be called a legendary craftsman with this attention to detail and quality. Looking forward to your next excellent design (:
Your lock would make a brilliant child safety latch for a cupboard or baby gate!! I love it.
Great to actually see the lock working through the plexi glass.

Очередная отличная самоделка! После таких видео хочется сделать что-то самому!
Looks cool Jack. You should sand and finish the cabinet now and then it will all look great. Cool ideas
Very smart again: if one would turn it (as a regular key) he would not succeed. Looking forward to further movies of yours.
When you said pins most people won’t know what you’re saying . As a locksmith I know exactly what you mean. Great video

Never thought of that but that could be done.

Why wouldn’t you need a key?
Hey mister you did a beautiful job will you share the plans please
so cool :D
perfeito
ok Jack, maybe I missed it but, what keeps the "tumblers" from falling all the way down in the key slot?
Hi, Look at 6:40, the latch has slots that hold the pins from falling down fully.
if you pull it all the way out probably the pins will fall. yet the latch bolt teeth dimensions and pin dimensions will match at that half drop position so pins wont fall all the way when the key is out

Great
Wooden cabinet, with wooden hinges, wooden lock, and wooden key - that wooden work. Lol
Idk... I'm pretty sure it wood
Is that ancient Assyrian wooden lock mechanism?
hi Jack, awhile since last video, hope you're well, I have the bell icon ticked so I can view video asap. More importantly you're well of course
Tout ça pour ça ! Ouais Jack super ! 😪
Working on any new projects lately? Merry Christmas from Hong Kong!
👍👍💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
You can use WoodPrx plans. The best e-books and very detailed instructions. You can learn much from them and make it yourself.
Awesome for me
@@arcurisano2898 I'm glad you like it Arcuri
hey jack...hows things..?
its been a while...?
Give the plastic a miss next time?
Please new videos. Thx
😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅✅✅💪
Woodglut has a very large project base.
why have you stop adding video?
Make it wooden with the help of the Woodglut instructions.
Not a very secure lock :p
A crowbar could take it apart, or fire.
