I like how this new Barbell Shrugged the interviewers shut up and let the person being interviewed talk. Thank god.
lol, totally agree!
Sarcasm?
Chris is so humble and truly wants to help others. This guy is one of a kind.
17:20 "Two times per week, of different intensities, is what creates adaptation."
Years later...but thanks. I watched the whole thing and wondered if I either misread the title of the video or missed the answer to the question.
Knowledge bombs all over! Right up there among your top episodes for me.
This was great. All Athletes and Workout enthusiasts need to listen to this, over and over. Great resource! Thanks Guys.
"You only need to run two times per week." Say no more. *shuts laptop*
He said plenty more. He talked about those ratios, and the importance of tracking speed. Sure, he could have gone more detail, but he said more than you said.
jeeeeeze who called the fun police?
Alright Alright Alright Dude, it's a 50 minute video ending with an interviewer claiming his brain is packed full. Do you expect people to let wrong shit slide? Have you been on the internet before?
Sorry you lost your sense of humor on your internet adventures man. Have a nice day!
Alright Alright Alright
Yeah, that I didn't laugh at the pinnacle of humor that you achieved in your original post clearly demonstrates that I have no sense of humor. You have awakened me from my humorless, dreary existence. Thank you so much.
Great pod cast. These two guys are on the money interviewing Hinshaw
Omg he is just soooo smart, loved loved loved this episode!!!!
He's right about pacing. Look at Rich Froning, he's the master of pacing.
Awesome episode, loved it, tons of great info
Loving this episode so much.
I need to do more running
Heard a lot of what Chris is talking about quite a bit before watching this, but everything he says is true. Knowledge is power and he possesses a ton of it.
Great episode. Thank you. Is Chris still posting the workouts to his aerobiccapacity site weekly? I couldn't find them. Thanks in advance for your help.
This guy is pretty awesome!
Great interview. Guess I'm gonna have to suck it up and hit the track/road if I want to see my engine get better.
What a neat guy. Thanks for a very enlightening vid. Talk about paying it forward.
Great interview! Great questions to Hinshaw, keep up the good work!
So much great info!!!!!
this is the best episode of the new series! My opinion..
the best cardio rap vid on youtube!
a little focus on your weaknesses, makes your strengths better. We've had great accomplishemtns and improvements with our program, 1 day of lifting/accessory pure, 1 day of aerobic (mixed modality-bike, row, run) pure, and 3 days of Crossfit. It takes consistency.
Yeah I’m gonna need y’all to make a part 2...and a part 3
Wow yes i got a Springbok athlete ex swimmer now my one coach he works like this in the pool with perceived percentages .I like the VO2 max testing aswell.
It is interesting to see the contrast in personalities between Chris H. and Brian Mckenzie. Both are amazing endurance athletes and coaches but Chris H. has that much more humble attitude while Brian is bit more matter of fact/my way or the highway. Something that would have been interesting to know is if Chris pushes the Pose running technique as much as Brian does.
McKenzie isn't really that good. I like how serious Chris is; like if you you're a filthy casual he has no respect for you. My kinda guy.
No he doesn't. The focus is on the aerobic capacity rather than run form. Obviously good to focus on both but sometimes you have to focus on one over the other first. If the athlete is already at a high level and can handle that volume it makes sense to focus on the capacity. If they're not as experienced or get beat up with run volume it makes more sense to refine the technique first.
This should have been 3 hours.
All my support for the endurance community
Cool guest!!!! Looking forward to listening to the rest of it (I am at the beginning!)!
If I'm male 43 trainning Xfit 4 times a week it's ok to run once a week? it is recomendable ??
that was great!!!
Hi guys, great videos! I have a quick question; would you suggest athletes to take fish oil supplements? I've been told 1000 mg of dha and epa is a good amount to consume daily and fish oil supplements are a good way of getting it. Studies vary so I am curious for your input. It would be very appreciated, thanks!
Anyone interested in discovering what their true training zones are, for creating truly specific adaptions, check out Moxy Testing. VO2Max tests should be replaced by Moxy Tests without question. Your performance is a product of how your use Oxygen on a cellular level, Moxy is Muscle Oxygen Saturation testing. Pacing is something that needs to be practised and understood on a personal level, but are you pacing in a zone above, below, or perfectly within your capacity? God Speed The Workers
Good stuff (Good stuff)!!!
This guys is knows his stuff!
Could not locate the workouts he said were listed for free on his aerobic capacity website.
what has more aerobic carryover to strength training 5 km run or 50 km bike ride
Wow great interview!! Too bad it just showed on my feed.. I'm a regular crossfitter training for an Ironman and he is gold in his knowledge
This is was so awesome!!! Man, I really love your work barbellshrug! I really enjoy this guys!!! Can't wait to do the strength test!!!!
Very curious your thoughts what is the best cardio training for overall health and longevity for older population 40-60 years old? Is 2-3 times a week slow intensity better or maybe 1 session slow and one more hit style ? As well what's the best formula for max heart rate and slow cardiac output rate ?
Tyson Fury training on the rings
19:40 - 26:00
I see that Coldplay sticker on the laptop :)
Who woulda thought that just a couple years later, Call Dietz would educate y'all on the fact that satellite strength is a real thing. improving your bench may improve your squat. improving your aerobic may improve your anaerobic.
Yes absolutley totally wow , intuit feel , innovate mix it up and add nutrition and improve sleep for me at 59 my fitness levels are increasing putting it all together even after alot of years of obscene stress due to others anti socila behaviour , how do you feel at the end of a workout big question ? Question what went wrong what right and how can I change or what do I change and then explore experiment again , yes no boredom is a f...killer and of course YOGA my old friend .
Hey, was wondering if anyone could please explain to me what is vo2 (max)? Thanks in advance! I'm not a runner, and really wanna improve at it
Hermes is correct. It is how oxygen you can use up in a given time and in relationship to your size (weight).
How is he calculating the percentage of slow down? What is the formula?
please interview Mikko Salo. i really want to know his training routine
Watching this in 2023, thinking will it still free 😂😂😂
Where can we get his workouts? I’m going to start running but what workouts do I do?
AerobicCapacity.com
A lot of great info here. Didn't realize how long ago this was...now all his workouts on his site are no longer free. Go figure
I am now gonna do more Running stuff
'heavy breathing' (well, not really because I've been doing his workouts)
Zone 2 is the real deal...
those fast camera pans are killing me.. rolling shutter anyone ?
Wonder what his HR is mines around 48 which seems low compared to others I’ve talked to.
John Barrick my resting is between 38-42 on average. Dr says it’s good athletic heart since the rest of my health is great 👍🏻
This wouldnt work for an actual distance runner....to improve your mile time and only run 2/ wk??
liked within the thirty seconds

Same here
Roy Barry it’s still 1976 here. Or have I time traveled? WTF?!
Simon Whitten Iuuiuiwuwuuwiwuw ueuwuwwuwuiwuwwuwuwuiwuiwuwwuw was a good one one of my favorite trainer trainer I wanna cofit was a good time to go to workout workout and then I got y’all to workout for a a little bit I wanna was a a good day to go to to work ipiiiiippioo POP po oop pooooooooooooooobb
He's 52 in this video?! He doesn't look any older than 45 wow. Shows the impact good fitness has on appearance and aging
Why does he say if you want to get better at running a certain pace you" have to practice that pace*. But if you want to get better at bench press ( his example) you don't have to bench for 3 months and you can come back and PR.
If I had to prioritize Strength or cardio, Strength should be first.
Alright who wants to train? - Jersey
Poor jason 🤣🤣
Run slow to run fast
The music sucks content is amazing
Putt fkn time stampsssss
I achieved 16:07 on a treadmill last week and I am training for a 5k competition. I normally do lots of HIIT (minimum 3 times a week). I do 2 sessions a day. During my lunch break 5k tempo run and in the evening i normally do HIIT (10x400 at 21km/h +). I started doing 5-6x1k at 3 min pace twice a week. I used to do long runs but i find HIIT so much more beneficial - my overall performance improved exponentially, my testosterone level skyrocketed as well. So I kind of disagree with your advice after 17:00 min.
bro when does he actually talk about the exercises for aerobic capacity
How da hell you a CrossFitter and NOT know your 400 m time 🤦♂️
Duh @
L
Yy
In the firsr 30 minutes he said absolurely nothing on how to train
I don’t know if talking about running made me sick or the constantly moving camera 🤢🤢
It would never occur to the camera operator to show two people speaking to each other, and not move the camera.Oh, no, the camera operator has to show one person alone, then swing the camera to the other person, then swing the camera to the first person, etc. And each time, the camera is too close to the speaker.
That technique makes the chronically stupid camera operator feel important. It does nothing for the viewer.
By the way, do you know how Jason Kahlipa's daughter is doing, these days, with her cancer???
It would appear things are going as good as they could be. Hoping to catch up with Jason soon.
Great. Thanks for the update!
Also, using the zoom lens is truly pathetic. The camera operator thinks it makes her important, but it just looks stupid, pointless, and artificial.
