😶 U r right about these characters avioding death but some of these characters r very strong (automatically having a dense body too). We also didn't see exactly how some of them would died. It's the reason y I almost stop watching 1 piece so u r right. Oda some how let the one's who should die, live by giving us a good enough reason y that character still live
Since when does Luffy care about roles in the crew. What would Gaimon have done? Or all the zombies from Thriller Bark who Luffy asked to join? Or what is Robin's role in the crew? Archeologist? Useful for sure, but I don't think Luffy was thinking about it when he agreed Robin could stay. Or Vivi who also got an invitation. And did he even knew Brook was a musician when he invited him? He just thought it was cool Brook was a walking skeleton and he thought Brook was a cool guy. And I'm not sure of it, but didn't he also had already some interest in other members before knowing their skills?
@@funchildrenchannel3913it has nothing to do with Luffy and all to do with the narrative. Notice how all those randoms either never joined or else had a skill explicitly needed on the crew? I'd be very happy for Bon-chan to be Captain in Luffy's fleet, but it doesn't make sense for him to join the core crew.
For all we know there is a revival revival fruit that may allow it to happen. 😂 oda's main weakness is fakeout deaths. Naruto kind of pulled off the reviving old characters so who knows
I think you forgot one, Kinnemon. Dude was cut in half by Kadio and came back for BS reasons. I think Oda remember that he introduced Kin's wife and didn't want to make her a widow
@@gurururuwarararara8164Bruh, that was just the laziest explanation Oda could throw us really. It doesn't make sense at all. Like, Kin was running around for Well over a few hundred chapters at that point and never noticed something being off? Like nah man, Kin should have died fr
As an April fools joke, I would love Oda to just put Ace in the background of a panel. Or even show a whole chapter showcasing his journey since he “died”
The strawhats were chatting in a late afternoon, after beating someone's ass. All the crew members were praising Luffy, reminding him how strong he had become, when suddenly, a shadow climbed over the boat. Half of the crew had their eyes pop out in disbelief, forcing Luffy to turn around, confused. - ''I have to agree! I'm so proud of you...'' Was all that could be heard, as the figure jumped down the boat, embraced in flames that matched the color of the sunset. Even though Luffy wasn't fast enough to see the man's face, he would forever recognize his voice. His eyes widened as he jumped down, desperately, chasing after that blaze. - ''Wait! I know you aren't real, but I need to ask you!! ...could forgive me??'' The boy shouted, begging. The blazing figure stopped t the entrance of a forest, and turned around amused, hidden behind the green, huge trees that remained unbothered by the raging fire that surrounded the man, who was about to say something that would come entirely from the heart. The sun set completely, hiding behind the mountains. The fire and the man vanished as the sky darkened, Luffy blinked, at the verge of tears, sweating and panting. A kind palm rested on his shoulder, weird, he hadn't noticed anyone behind him. - ''Luffy... you need to sleep, this is the first time I've ever seen you this drunk, lets go back''. Said Zoro, yawning, exhausted. The beautiful trees and the forest in front of him were now dry and dead. The light was gone. Luffy returned inside, defeated, his heart sinking in his chest. - ''I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to protect you...'' * Brook sat down at the head of the sunny, singing the end of a beautiful melody, the magic hour had passed, but the skeleton smiled, glad he had the chance to meet such a fierce and passionate soul, one that would run to the edge of the dead realm without hesitation, the moment the tune started, just to see his brother again. - ''Ace-san... Sorry I couldn't give you two more time, but rest assured, I made sure he heard that'' (Ignore me, I tried my best)
In retrospect I’ve found Moscato’s revival serves just as much narrative purpose as his death. Big Mom killing him proved she’s an unstable tyrant who will kill anyone, up to and including her own children, to get what she wants. But the fact that Mont-d’Or knew exactly what to do and got to it without missing a step shows that this wasn’t the first time this had happened, and likely wouldn’t be the last. It also shows that Big Mom rules her crew/family through fear, and that the Charlotte siblings’ loyalty lies more with each other than their mother. Out of all of them listed here, Moscato’s revival from certain death is the only one that is really justified, narratively.

Kin'emon and Kiku deserve a mention here too. Asura Doji and Izo feel like a consolation death. Like Oda went "Yes yes I know Kin'emon and Kiku survived when they shouldn't have, BUT LOOK! I'M NOT AFRAID TO KILL CHARACTERS, SEE I KILLED IZO AND ASURA DOJI!"
Exactly, and while I did feel something for their deaths, I wasn’t moved. And only Izos seemed justified. Asuras death seemed so avoidable. I know the Scabbards were emotionally confused at the time, but, once you seem the Oden clone stab someone…..I mean it’s a fake guys! Like, c’mon! 😅😅😅 Still not as bad as Pound though. And I legit thought Pedro was going to come back as a homie or something. Which I could see Big Mom doing if she was angry enough but thankfully that hasn’t happened. I really don’t like characters being brought back if their deaths were meaningful
@@michaeldimare3786 Do we know if Big Mom can take Souls of people after they die? We know the souls remain after a person's death, but can she take them from someone whose dead? I can't imagine that's how that works, since we know from Brook that the soul leaves on death
@@aneonfoxtribute Right, probably not how it works, it’s just my anxiety raising it’s ugly head and making me think Oda will choose to do that. Thanks for clarifying
It somewhat bothers me that Oda never even gave a silly retcon explanation for some of these absurd survival scenarios like how he did for the “especially buoyant piece of wood” when he realized he accidentally drew a DF user floating in water. Even if it were blatantly a retcon, it would still help in establishing SOME kind of expectation for what Oda’s thought process is regarding what kind of injuries should be “fatal”, which seems to be all over the place. I want so badly to believe that Big Mom and Kaido are dead. Of every execution method in the series, that should be the most surefire absolute killer of all. For gods sake, a single mote of lava melted clear through Whitebeard’s skull, and they were both completely submerged The fact that I’m not even holding my breath waiting for them to re emerge in some fashion (big or small) in the story says volumes about how inconsistent death is in this series
Kaido is dead mirroring Oden but Linlin was Joseph Joestar'd outta that volcano by Kaido. Remember there was a one week time skip. Anything's possible.
I prefer that we don't know, personally. As we're heading into the end stages it allows us to never be able to guess where, exactly, people are who may or may not be alive and I'm guessing we're going to see more death or 'death' and it's going to make every 'death' a question that Oda can exploit in various ways. It makes me nervous - is Garp dead, or just captured? What about Shiki? Will he be alive and manage to help out in some way or is he really dead for good? I think on a reread, when all is said and done, it will make the confirmed deaths more painful, because at that point we'll know they're gone and not coming back. This is one of the benefits of the anime lagging behind so much - because we can get death confirmations and it can make more of a spectacle of their deaths, but we also get the will they/won't they through the manga. I love it~
@@Sunaki1000 it’s a bit tricky with the wax explanation purely because Mr 3 is a paramecia, and any ability to keep generating wax or stay made of wax could still be entirely undone by getting submerged. If Mr 3 did totally coat himself on the way down then I think you’re right that he could survive, but I feel like it would’ve been more visually obvious if he had done that. Your explanation makes more sense and requires less explicit retconning, but I honestly think the buoyant wood is funny
@@tanmay5683 I mean, Alabasta's a desert going through a drought, what's probably the best stocked kitchen in the country would be a reasonable guess for where it ends up
You missed some. Like a ton of people in Skypeia. Pretty much everyone survived the survival game which was pretty absurd. Some notable ones that should definitely be dead are Kamakiri and Raki. You also forgot Franky’s pets the King Yagara bulls Sodom and Gomorrah.
This is what gets me the most out of the story. At no time do I feel that the characters are really in danger. That you say that Enel is like this tyrant God that everyone fears, so that later a defenseless old man like Pagaya survives a direct hit from one of his devastating attacks, makes me stop seeing Enel as a real risk. Even characters like Lassoo (which I don't particularly like) make me think that if Usopp had been hit by its attack, nothing would have happened to him, making the entire fight completely irrelevant. But it's a constant feeling with the show. Firearms are the least efficient weapon on the planet, sword blows that can split a concrete tower in half won't even tear the clothes of the Marines. Personally, One Piece being so non-deadly and solemn frustrates me, especially when the series takes the time to make you feel bad about the deaths of characters that may not appear again (at least in significant roles), like Sodom and Gomorrah. I've already seen The Lion King, I can handle the death of Sodom and Gomorrah, but if the Show can't kill two horses that could have been replaced with whatever vehicle the Franky Family could have built, then I can't expect any characters to moderately relevant will die, with very few exceptions.
@@6fingers_gamingcuz zoros body is stronger than that, that’s what that’s supposed to mean. if i can cut paper, but i can’t cut you, that means you are stronger than the paper, harder to cut. it’s pretty simple
To be fair, Magellan is one who prefer to not immediately kill his prisoner. He just let his poison do their thing and slowly and painfully kill them, then throw the bodies on lvl 5 to be eaten by wolves. But we know 5.5 guys and gals and everything in between probably saved bon before he died.(should have learned from the time he did that to Luffy). Or the much better explanation would be the one who became the next queen of newkama wasn't bon but someone who make themselves to look like bon to pay their respect. I don't know if Oda have straight up said that was Bon clay or not, but i remember the cover said "the new queen of newkama land" And their face isn't shown.
The Fake deaths that piss me off the most are Kinemon and Kiku's. Kinemon got cut in half, had his skull bashed in by KAIDO, and was still alive because of some bs with Law's DF from hundreds of chapters ago. Kiku had an absolutely beautiful death scene, a frame worthy death quote and even lost a limb, but was recovered offscreen by Chopper, in the middle of war, somehow. To make it worse, her brother died, and she had nothing to say, being the sole survivor of her family. 😤 I love one piece, but Oda dropped the ball not killing those two. Their being alive serves zero purpose and only neutered the tension of the Wano Arc.
There was a lot of people recovered by chopper in the middle of the war, somehow. If one piece was darker many of kaido’s minions and the samurai would have died during the Queen section.
@@ShaggyDabbyDank That part with Chopper vs Queen's Virus was at least a somewhat believable character moment for Chopper. Kiku should have been long dead before anyone could bring her to Chopper. How could Izo die from a single finger pistol when Kiki can get amputated, stabbed, and tossed around, yet still make a full recovery?
Can we universally praise Pedro? He stayed dead after a pivotal death scene with a substantial sacrifice, and got name dropped by Gear 5th Luffy at the climax of his battle with Kaido a good while after that. And he isn't a load bearing death like the flashback characters or Ace and Whitebeard. What a guy. What a still dead guy. I love him.
I’d love to be able to do that fully, but because he died in an explosion, there will always be some doubt. If he did die, there would be no body left to put in a grave, which is one of the few ways characters stay dead in One Piece. We saw Asura Doji’s body after his encounter with explosives and are later told he was buried, unfortunately Pedro is more similar to Pell’s situation where he has an empty grave.
@@ZigTheHunter we can only believe someone has truly died if there are characters pointing to the bodies going "this person is dead. Like dead dead. They died. And they will be buried here. Because they are DEAD"
I think Perospero should also be on this list, at least narratively, he should have died when pedro blew him up, and it felt like that is the narrative Oda was trying to give.
Carrot was a promising character She was introduced at the set up for wano She participated in the set up for onigashima Then perospero lived and only lost an arm oooooo She attacks him, loses, does nothing, gets ass saved by nekomamushi and is listed as 6th strongest female at onigashima by a website
@@rafy.h.3108 That's a good point, I think the only reason I could see for Perospero not dying is to have a cool moment where Carrot beats his ass, but that doesn't even happen. Idk what Oda was thinking here.
@@charliekelly3977i believe at that moment WE barely knew it, but perospero is the oldest brother with a >1billion Berry. Of course a 1billion+ doesn't juste get killed by an explosion. Actually even a hanf is already quite a lot
I think one thing with Pell is also the fact that we learn that Zoan Fruits give their users a lot of durability, which might have been what saved him.
Yeah, and I personally subscribe to the Awakening angle. Awakened Zoans are said to have boosted regeneration, so I do find it plausible that maybe his fruit brought him back much like Luffy's did.
@@Amor_24 The issue with that hypothesis is it means Pell would have dropped the bomb to save himself. Which he most certainly would not have done given the city was right below him. He was flying up to save the city and he wasn’t stopping until the bomb went off. There’s no way Pell would have gone “this seems high enough” then let go to save his own life, putting Vivi’s and everyone else’s lives at risk.
Did the manga have that scene of a massive amount of hands before the explosion at Whiskey Peak that we thought killed Igaram? Because if so, I think that one can be forgiven both in lore and IRL since Robin causing the explosion with her DF can also be used to explain Igaram's survival. I know she wasn't always intended to become a good guy, but I think that Oda deciding to make her part of the crew is the reason both Igaram and Pell survived. Becase Robin killing Igaram at Whisky Peak and f*cking up Pell before he heroically got blown up in Alubarna would've made her a tougher sell as a good guy if either of them actually died. Because no matter how much she was liked after that, there would always be people that remembered that she killed inmocent people that we knew, and that would always taint her character. Which I think is the reason why Oda walked back both deaths.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Kin'emon. I feel like his non-death is even more insulting because he's basically like "duh it's because Kaido stabbed me where I was split by Law". Like what? Why does that even matter now? There was blood in there, he very clearly stabbed you. By that logic, Law could use Shambles on any of his allies and essentially just make them immune to any slashing or stabbing attacks even after they've been put back together.
Rewatched the episode where kinemon was revealed to be alive with my gf yesterday and it made us both mad all over again. This death problem has got to be one pieces biggest flaw imo
@@VibricksBsically, it removed all of what made this an war in wano,’since with that, we knew nobody was going to die like in alabasta when that chicken survived and the one that got shot alot, tension killer
The fact that a lot of characters were kinda immune to death made Ace and Whitebeards death even more devastating!(although it did make the community kinda skeptical about that scenario!)
@@bennettmorgan7651 but after that arc their deaths indeed felt more devastating. we know how sneaky oda is with deaths and seeing how both whitebeard and ace weren't gonna get a magical revival made their passing more impactful imo. like we know for sure they're not coming back lol
@@mayorafukuchohonestly it didn't for me. The impact happens at the time of death (or "death"), and by the time Ace became a doughnut deaths in One Piece were just a joke to me. When Akainu killed Ace I just shrugged and thought he'd be back soon. When it was clear he wasn't coming back, the moment was gone, and I shrugged my shoulders again. We should be feeling the devastation of loss when the character actually dies. Honestly, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if Ace turns up alive later in the story since Oda has shown he doesn't care about undermining impactful scenes like that. Sacrifices have no meaning when this is the case.
I know we saw the donut death, the grave and the new mera mera no mi, but MAYBE ace is still alive and will appear in laught tale and it will help defeat Imu and have a revenge against Blackbeard and then Whitebeard will comeback from the black hole of Blackbeard being revived by the gura gura no mi and then they will defead Blackbeard but OMG Imu wasn't dead already but OF COURSE Gol. D. Roger was still alive! as it was foreshadowed in logue town by Luffy surviving and they will defeat the FINAL BOSS of the series, the great pirate Buggy, who has already claimed the One Piece! Also Foxy is there too, for some reason.
Seems like you forgot that the next time we see/hear about Magellan is when we find out that he was beat to within an inch of his life by some unknown source. So either Bon Clay was inadvertently saved by one of the Blackbeard pirates, or manifested some serious Haki of his own off screen. I like the second option.
Funny how the brothers Ace and Sabo both subverted our expectations of death from Oda. Ace was the first on screen death that turned out not to be a fake out, and Sabo was the first flashback death that actually was a fake out. It's also kinda funny to look back on the cases after that, like with the newspaper or the attack from Imu, where so many people boldly stated that Sabo was "100% confirmed dead".
I dont know about the manga, but in the anime during the Sabo flashback i remember when it cuts to the revolutionary ship and ivankov is yelling at dragon aaying where the hell were you. And there are crew members on the ship who say “Woah we need a medic this guy is badly burned!” Or something along those lines. So i think if thats also manga cannon, sabo was always intended to live

You're forgetting Merry, Kaya's butler, this dude died twice, once at the hands of Kuro and once again in Kaya's hands, crazy to think Kuro was incompetent enough to let his plan be known on purpose and still fail to kill him.
I have a grand theory about pell. Basically pell can fly so sometime after eating his devil fruit he flew to a sky island and came into contact with an impact/reject dial. Being the guardian of alabasta, he kept in on him at all times, and when the nuke went off, he was able to store a good portion of the blast into the dial while also taking a good bit of damage given the scale of the explosion. It would be w oda if pell were to use the dial to set off some crazy ass turn of events that no one saw coming but anyways thanks for reading my bs head canon theory.
regarding Pekoms, the sharks are actually an astute trick. He was saved by fishmen. People who can tell sharks "Hey guys, you see that lion turtle man falling off the cliff right there? No, don't go eat him, go and save him, he's a friend.". meaning his survival is not an asspull, the means of his survival were explicitely shown within the "supposed death scene" This in turn nullifies 2 of his death causes (sharks and devil-fruit in the sea), so he only needs 3 graves.
I'm really surprised no one has brought up awakening when talking about pell. His fruit was one of the guardian deities of Alabasta. It's will was to protect Alabasta at all costs. Pell died fulfilling that will and it's very likely he was rewarded with an awakening which we've seen is capable of reviving someone through Luffy
Don't forget our dear old friend Jaguar D Saul. Although this has probably been Oda's best in-world explanation of why someone survived. Can't believe I didn't think of him being alive before, it just made sense.
In the anime there’s a scene right before Igaram gets blown up where they just randomly show a bunch of Robin’s hands, and that was before they revealed her abilities, so I think at least the anime is implying that Robin saved him and they added that so people could go back and be like, “Oh that’s how he survived,”.
I’ve always wanted Conis to join the straw hats. I like to imagine another timeline in One Piece where her dad did actually die and she chose to leave Skypeia because of her grief. She was pretty badass at times. Also her fox would have made fake chopper even funnier. He’s so much of a pet they fused him with their actual pet.
When my family and I started watching the show a year or two back (took us a little less than a year to catch up to present), I remember reading somewhere that Oda only actually kills somebody off when it will propel the story forward in a meaningful way for another important character. Any deaths that aren't Ace-level/world-changing or somehow worse don't ultimately count. That stuck with me because it gave us clear expectations when we saw stuff like Pell and the dad in Skypeia (not) dying. Their deaths wouldn't mean anything to the larger world/story. This of course excludes the hundreds or thousands of deaths that occur to non-show-focused background characters who are often labeled things like Fishman A and citizen D
I also feel like Robin saving Igaram, or at least not being thorough with the assassination makes sense. I‘m sure she killed people before and she definitely killed people later. But those are probably more actual villains or people opposing her.
It could be possible that she pushed him into the water before setting off the bomb. Granted I don't know how that would work given the explosion's sheer radius but it makes enough sense to me.
This topic makes me wonder what is the most deadly implement in O.P.: It's clear that it's not explosions, but I'm thinking it might be swords? Or poison? & Not likely, but perhaps single bullets? (not a hail of bullets, mind you, that's totally survivable.)
After catching up in one piece I honestly don't care that Pell lived. Considering we even have a panel of his damage and it looks like some serious damage, I think he's just strong. Maybe even had good armorment haki involved.
I'd like to give an honorable mention to Usopp in Alabasta. While fighting Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas, his skull became more powdered than Igaram's wig. For someone who claims to be just a normal guy, that should definitely not have been something he survived, even if we don't want him to die.
I regards to all of this, I'd ask a question: Is a sacrifice proven meaningless if they survive the attempt despite the odds? I get emotional investment and all that. I don't really mind a character getting to stick around though.
I have a theory that the reason Pell survived was due to him awakening at the last second and using the Awakened Zoan's absurd durability and vitality to survive like the ones from Impel Down who just casually took attacks from warlord level pirates and stood back up to work again.
Usopp should have died twice. Once when Mr. 4 hits him in the head with a 4 ton baseball bat, and again, when he takes a direct unguarded hit to the face from Ulti's mortar attack.
What frustrates me particularly about Sabo's undeath is that he doesn't fulfill any role in the story that couldn't have been filled by someone else. Like, why does it have to be Sabo and not, say, Koala? Her backstory ties her far more beautifully to revolutionary struggle than his does. Oda wants to have his cake and eat it, too; the worst aspects came out in Wano when he sacrificed the wrong samurais to show us how "serious" the battle was. Ugh. I understand he gets attached and doesn't want to have a party at the end of an arc when people have died, but still. If One Piece was a worse story I bet nobody would let him get away with this shit, but we forgive him.
The biggest problem I have with making Robin a straw hat and changing Igaram to be alive is it re-enforces the idea that heroes have to be perfect… and that also is a failure in the writing of One Piece at many times.
She could have pushed him off the boat, that should have done the trick, because of fictional science Like he was underwater during the explosion and maybe even picked up later by Nicko Robin when lost consciousness or when conscious was holding on the floating debris I don't see too much problem with Igaram's death specifically, you can always come up with an explanation (and I'm okay with somehow, to be honest) and it was used as a plot device Could have been used better, it feels, but it's overall ok
Wasn't Pell a Zoan fruit user? Don't Zoan fruit users have incredibly high defense and endurance? I agree that at the time we didn't really know how powerful Zoan fruits were but after seeing more Zoan fruit users in action . Is it that crazy that Pell could have survived?
@@rickkcir2151 Fair enough. Just in every video i watch about characters not dying. When Pell is mention nobody even says he's a Zoan fruit user. Did people forget? or do they just not care because he's already dead in their head cannon. lol
First one in this almost broke me. I remember as a little kid being absolutely freaking confused seeing this guy again. I was like, "Didn't he blow up...last month?", then my little kid brain told me, "shut up you're missing dialogue that might explain that." Ah, before everything was on demand and your attention had to be spent wisely to get real enjoyment out of things. By the end of the episode I had forgotten this guy cheated death until today.
pekoms has turtle devil fruit and turtle can breath under water, plus he's zoan so probably he's more durable than he looks, I'm interested if a mink has zoan devil fruit and he/she turns into sulong and awakened his zoan devil fruit at the same time, that would be really interesting
@@potatohildy well you probably right, i didn't know if he has sea turtle or just turtle devil fruit, and even he has sea turtle devil fruit probably the sea will negate his power. So yeah oda just giving him plot armor shell or the fishmen help him
So for Bon Clay, i can totaly imagine Magellan not one shotting him,. but instead keeping him there and torturing him with lots of non-lethal poisons. Through whole Impel down arc he was seen leaving his enemies in state of constant pain through posion and not finishing them (beside goons i guess? but they got same treatment as luffy so i count this as torture instead) . From there we have him alive and tortured but that give us plenty of options to get him out of there

12:20 To be fair, that is a ridiculously small amount of blood considering Oven did a running leap at Pound, seemingly with intent to slice him clean in half, so either it was a simple mistake or proof that Oven never really killed Pound.
I saw a theory on Reddit that Kuina might be alive, brainwashed and one of the Holy Knights.... Honestly, as a concept; it sounds not too bad. It brings Zoro's and Kuina's story full circle as they have a final fight to be WSS and Zoro finally beats her; but the problem I have with this is the absolute unbelievablity of people accepting an OP death. But honestly, how could I blame them for not believing a character dying by falling off stairs, while one survived a nuke to the face..... Also, Liam missed a no. of others too; especially Saul and Kinnemon. I know people argue for Saul surviving for the attacks name, but honestly; that was one of the rawest death scenes possible.
I haven't watched the whole video, before writing this comment. Just remember, this is a Manga for kids, yet people tend to judge it, like it's supposed to be, this perfect masterpiece, that can't be flawed.
I understand why people thought Sabo was law. This little Sabo could easily grow up to law and they were both introduced around the same time. I think Sabo was supposed to die though and that’s why he became generic Ace.
0:04 - 0:23 That reminds me of this other Simpsons moment from that one Bible Stories episode, where Bart says to Ralph "I thought you were dead!" and Ralph's just like "Nope! :) " One Piece in a nutshell.
I was under the impression during the beggining of the fight on the rooftop kinnemon died. He had that heart touching moment asking luffy to protect wano before we literally see the life drain from his eyes
I think it would make sense that Kuzan wouldn't kill his own friend since Saul did befriend Robin and did let Robin escape from the terror happening on the island. Saul survived would make a lot more sense.
Same thing just happened with Garp. U think he’s gonna die with a will of D. Smile on his face but Kuzan is freezing his wounds to “help” him out. Kind of like Snape and dumbledore
Another one I would add (after Kin'emon) would be that pirate who bit his own tongue to die on Sabaody's slave sale, that dude was lately shown alive with his tongue cut in half
Pell is a trained warrior who has a strength increasing zoan type df. I believe that he survived that fairly cause even afterwards he had to go to the hospital and he still has scars from the explosion unlike Igaram who just walked off the explosion damage 💀
The only thing i can think of for pell (And this is how the scene looks in the manga) is that pell dropped the bomb and flew away far enough from the explosion. It is said he got the devil fruit with the highest flightspeed. But that explanation is still so far from Pells personality. he would hold on to that bomb and get it as high as ppssible so there is no chance that it hits the city
Tbh was surprised Mr. 3 wasn't in this list, like he was thrown in with a chamber filling with water and banana gaters, to somehow float despite having a devil fruit and being massively weakened
For most anime’s, if they are giving a deliberate death scene, with ppl crying, some cool last words of wisdom or stuff, ya know they are dead. But in One Piece, you can’t even trust that. And I do like it. Adds to the unpredictability :)
You forgot about two other character in Wano, Kinnemon which got too many people talking about in the comments, and Guernia who got a direct hit from Kaidou but still lived to post the photo of Luffy Gear 5
The way I've always though Igarum some how survived was Robin in one quick motion first threw Igarum overboard and kind of forced him to stay underwater and not long after that then she blew up his ship.
Isnt it cool how main characters follow after their mentors/idols Koby using honesty impact after garps galaxy impact Shanks using divine departure like roger did Luffy using red hawk i guess like ace/sabo used fire fist
It's going to be funny when they finally find the One Piece and its everyone that ever died, even in flashbacks, alive; just chilling and waiting for them with open arms and laughs.
Bon Clay escaped because right before he was killed by Magellan, Magellan got a bout of sudden and terrible diarrhea and had to run to the bathroom. Giving Bon Clay time to escape
There’s also Vander Decken. Dude got impaled by a trident, sliced by an axe with his own Devil Fruit, on top of all that the Noah’s air bubble popped and should’ve drowned because he’s a devil fruit user, and if that’s not enough he was on board the Noah while Luffy destroyed it. Then pops back up only being unconscious
pell's death just could be that oda had not decided what will happen to a devil fruit when the user dies back when alabasta was in serialization so magically pell was not dead
I'm just waiting for Oda to bring back Ace and Whitebeard, just imagine Ace walking up to Luffy and saying hey Luffy i'm back from the dead do you want to get something to eat? Also how weird would it be if Imu brought back them back from the dead and made into two of the God's knights?
I have a theory, that Zoan Devil Fruit users are almost immune to death. It’s kinda main benefit of the fruit. All off them withstands insane amounts of damage, without lethal result. Especially taking in a count, that Luffy now Zoan user as well, and he just refuses to die.
I can see three ways how bon survived all involving awaking his devil fruit. He either is able to make clone copies of himself with his clones turning into other ppl. Or he is able to change other ppl wich would make more since if he took over Eva's spot. And the third is a combination of the two.
The one thing about Sabo's death is that Oda confirmed him dead because it was supposed to be a twist and he can't just say "Sabo: Alive", but its nothing like the Pell death at all. In chapter 589, when we see Dragon talking, someone says "Oh...Hey! Hurry up and get HIM some help! This is terrible!" The anime does a better job and letting us know this was Sabo (I believe they say "little boy" too) but this was Oda's way of saying Sabo was alive.
I have to admit I kind of like the idea that Robin did whatever she could to keep people alive. Igaram was only hit by a flashy fireworks display and so was Pell (who she had avoided killing twice earlier). It had to look good. Whereas with saving Luffy she just needed to not be seen by Crocodile. That's why she also tried to give him an alternate log pose earlier, and allowed Vivi to follow and figure out the identity of Mr 0. In retrospect, she was sabotaging all of Baroque Works from the beginning. No wonder it was so slapdash...and silly. Robin likes cuteness, so you can probably guess which members she recruited personally.

I believe you’re forgetting that Bon Clay is protected by plot armor, as it’s impossible to kill a member of the Straw Hat Crew
Bon Clay is too weak to join and there no role to give him on the ship
Since when does Luffy care about roles in the crew. What would Gaimon have done? Or all the zombies from Thriller Bark who Luffy asked to join?
Or what is Robin's role in the crew? Archeologist? Useful for sure, but I don't think Luffy was thinking about it when he agreed Robin could stay. Or Vivi who also got an invitation.
And did he even knew Brook was a musician when he invited him? He just thought it was cool Brook was a walking skeleton and he thought Brook was a cool guy.

I'm so proud of you...''
Was all that could be heard, as the figure jumped down the boat, embraced in flames that matched the color of the sunset. Even though Luffy wasn't fast enough to see the man's face, he would forever recognize his voice. His eyes widened as he jumped down, desperately, chasing after that blaze.
- ''Wait! I know you aren't real, but I need to ask you!! ...could forgive me??''
The boy shouted, begging.
- ''I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to protect you...''
*
Brook sat down at the head of the sunny, singing the end of a beautiful melody, the magic hour had passed, but the skeleton smiled, glad he had the chance to meet such a fierce and passionate soul, one that would run to the edge of the dead realm without hesitation, the moment the tune started, just to see his brother again.
- ''Ace-san... Sorry I couldn't give you two more time, but rest assured, I made sure he heard that''

Truuue! Good point!
Just for fun, try coming up with narrative purposes for the rest.

For gods sake, a single mote of lava melted clear through Whitebeard’s skull, and they were both completely submerged
The fact that I’m not even holding my breath waiting for them to re emerge in some fashion (big or small) in the story says volumes about how inconsistent death is in this series
I love it~
My favorite thing about the silky wood explanation was how the anime actually drew in a big plank under Mr 3 when the time came to animate that scene
Funny is, Wax floats. He could have said Mr 3 is covered in Wax and was completly isolated, but didnt.

But we know 5.5 guys and gals and everything in between probably saved bon before he died.(should have learned from the time he did that to Luffy). Or the much better explanation would be the one who became the next queen of newkama wasn't bon but someone who make themselves to look like bon to pay their respect.
I love him.
I'm still not convinced he's dead. This mf definitely is gonna show back up
I’d love to be able to do that fully, but because he died in an explosion, there will always be some doubt.

Why does that even matter now? There was blood in there, he very clearly stabbed you. By that logic, Law could use Shambles on any of his allies and essentially just make them immune to any slashing or stabbing attacks even after they've been put back together.

A haki bloom would work.
Bonclay was very dedicated and determined.
And there are crew members on the ship who say “Woah we need a medic this guy is badly burned!”
Or something along those lines. So i think if thats also manga cannon, sabo was always intended to live

Woah...😦
But why would he have left Alabasta
regarding Pekoms, the sharks are actually an astute trick. He was saved by fishmen. People who can tell sharks "Hey guys, you see that lion turtle man falling off the cliff right there? No, don't go eat him, go and save him, he's a friend.".
meaning his survival is not an asspull, the means of his survival were explicitely shown within the "supposed death scene"
This in turn nullifies 2 of his death causes (sharks and devil-fruit in the sea), so he only needs 3 graves.
Bellamy dying to Luffy with doflamingo controlling him would’ve been a lot more impactful

It feels manipulative when the author seemingly kills off a character when you cannot think of a scenario where the character could've survived.
It would be fine if it was Incredibly infrequently but you just saw over half a dozen examples with several forgotten about

I have a theory that the reason Pell survived was due to him awakening at the last second and using the Awakened Zoan's absurd durability and vitality to survive like the ones from Impel Down who just casually took attacks from warlord level pirates and stood back up to work again.
I can't believe people actually tried to mock charlie for the same opinion....Goddam, some people just really likes that taste of those boots
always a good day when grandlinereview uploads
Probably because Sabo himself is of royal blood
The biggest problem I have with making Robin a straw hat and changing Igaram to be alive is it re-enforces the idea that heroes have to be perfect… and that also is a failure in the writing of One Piece at many times.
She could have pushed him off the boat, that should have done the trick, because of fictional science
Like he was underwater during the explosion and maybe even picked up later by Nicko Robin when lost consciousness or when conscious was holding on the floating debris
I don't see too much problem with Igaram's death specifically, you can always come up with an explanation (and I'm okay with somehow, to be honest) and it was used as a plot device
Could have been used better, it feels, but it's overall ok
Pell's scars look a bit weird if you consider the explosion was below him. One is near his shoulder. Oddly enough he still has his legs.
I disagree on Igaram. I don't think I would've been alright with Robin joining if she actually killed Vivi's friend and guardian.
Anyone else happy pound lived? Like yes his "death" was tragic but the absolute joy i had when he lived and meet his daughters. I cried
Another problem with one piece is they do the hype but the battle never happens like when wb and roger fought , they didn't show us shit .
Yes, I don’t care how durable Zoan fruits make someone. That was a city destroying bomb that went off point blank. It’s not like Pell is Kaido.
I was like, "Didn't he blow up...last month?", then my little kid brain told me, "shut up you're missing dialogue that might explain that."
Ah, before everything was on demand and your attention had to be spent wisely to get real enjoyment out of things.
Turtles cannot breathe under water
From there we have him alive and tortured but that give us plenty of options to get him out of there
the man with the burn scar is saul! hes on elbalf with the books. from ohara. elbalf is protecting the last pone glyph from fishman island i dk how though but i got a really good feeling oh duh will let us know soon!!
pin this n talk about grand line guy
I always landed on Pell being or becoming an Awakened Zoan user during the explosion. It would explain his absurdly high resilience.
I understand why people thought Sabo was law. This little Sabo could easily grow up to law and they were both introduced around the same time. I think Sabo was supposed to die though and that’s why he became generic Ace.
0:04 - 0:23
That reminds me of this other Simpsons moment from that one Bible Stories episode, where Bart says to Ralph "I thought you were dead!" and Ralph's just like "Nope! :) " One Piece in a nutshell.
I was under the impression during the beggining of the fight on the rooftop kinnemon died. He had that heart touching moment asking luffy to protect wano before we literally see the life drain from his eyes
Pekom’s death is excusable because cats have 9 lives
What if Oda is an unreliable narrator and these characters actually did die. But we are told they come back to feel better.
Also Sauls fakeout even after aokiji told robin he was dead
I'm surprised Saul wasn't added to the graveyard. We even got his Will of D smile to Robin only to find out he's possibly still around.
I believe that he survived that fairly cause even afterwards he had to go to the hospital and he still has scars from the explosion unlike Igaram who just walked off the explosion damage 💀
pell literally used Fly and people still wonder how he survived Explosion. smh 🙄
I have no idea how Gecko Moria survived Doflamingo’s assassination after Marineford
Spandam literally got his entire back broke in two by Robin and not only lives but doesn't even need a wheelchair
So glad you made this, the Pell thing is ridiculous lol. Dude got caught up in an atomic bomb and walked away with just a limp and bandage lol.
Bon Clay’s “Death” was one of my saddest moments as a One Piece fan.
In the view of the points made in this video . . . can we be sure that Gol D Rodger is truely death and not just maybe waiting on laughtale?
For most anime’s, if they are giving a deliberate death scene, with ppl crying, some cool last words of wisdom or stuff, ya know they are dead. But in One Piece, you can’t even trust that. And I do like it. Adds to the unpredictability :)
You forgot about two other character in Wano, Kinnemon which got too many people talking about in the comments, and Guernia who got a direct hit from Kaidou but still lived to post the photo of Luffy Gear 5
Pell was a mistake. Why Oda? I cried for him. Why Oda-sensei, why waste my tears?
😭
The way I've always though Igarum some how survived was Robin in one quick motion first threw Igarum overboard and kind of forced him to stay underwater and not long after that then she blew up his ship.
Isnt it cool how main characters follow after their mentors/idols
Koby using honesty impact after garps galaxy impact
Shanks using divine departure like roger did
Luffy using red hawk i guess like ace/sabo used fire fist
It's going to be funny when they finally find the One Piece and its everyone that ever died, even in flashbacks, alive; just chilling and waiting for them with open arms and laughs.
You missed Kinemon, Luffy, Zoro, and Joyboy. And maybe T-Bone, dude was put into the sea slashed during Aqua Laguna and didn’t die.
“In an event best described as: SOMEHOW” is becoming one of my favourite reoccurring things in your videos.
Day 1 of telling Liam to upload more JJK and JoJos on New World Review
pell's death just could be that oda had not decided what will happen to a devil fruit when the user dies back when alabasta was in serialization so magically pell was not dead
Everyone survives the unsurvivable, but only Kuina gets K.O. from stairs
Charlotte Oven had killed Charlotte Pound by severing his head from his body at the dock. And he still lived somehow via Plot Armor.
I heard the words "Pell 9/11 Theory" and went "Wait, THE WHAT?!" while expecting something bonkers.
0:01 When you rock up to work the next morning after a heavy drinking sesh with the boys on a work night.
As someone who’s caught up to the one piece manga. Today I learned that Sir Moscato is alive. I thought he was dead till this day
I have to admit I kind of like the idea that Robin did whatever she could to keep people alive.
