Note: this video was paid for, but our opinions about the ramen are real. We really liked the ramen, and so we agreed to publish a video about this place. We’ll never publish a video that promoting something we don’t believe in.
Thank you guys so much for doing what you do. I drove an hour to go to the international food store. It had so many Japanese goodies that I am excited to try. Tonkatsu flavored udon noodle soup, taiyaki, steamed vegetable buns, Ramune soda and so much more that I would have never considered trying if it wasn't for you guys. You have made me venture out of my tiny food bubble and I am thankful.
You don't know how happy that makes me. I really hope people can watch our videos and feel inspired to try things they wouldn't try otherwise. Thank you for the encouragement!
Alaina S. Holy hell that sounds so good damn good. Lucky u~
This is so sweet! Happy eating ☺️
Thank you I saw your comment as it was pinned and I ended up going to try my first freshly made raman and I must say holy cap it was the best thing I had thank you for pushing me to try new food
Simon and Martina aww guys! Thanks for the pin and I am soooo super glad it made you happy. It seems mission accomplished. In all honesty, you guys have inspired me to travel to Japan and other places once my kids get older. I started watching you guys ages ago and I stayed because you remind me of me and my husband. (He is also Canadian, I am American) He is as hungry as Simon 😂
It's not a Simon and Martina video if Simon doesn't steal Martina's food, or vice versa lol. Now time for my sad instant ramen 😭
thats all u deserve
Yee Her we still have their instant ramen upgrades
drake ramoray but why
I also joined the sad ramen 🍜 club after watching this. The only saving grace of my ramen was that it was Shin Ramuyn and I had awesome power ups from Martina to make it better. But it slowly became saltier as more of my sad sad tears fell into it. 😭
Instant ramen isn't bad. I got it a few times in Sannomiya!
If you're passionate about ramen in Japan, you need to try where it came from: Chuka-soba. We'll take you today to Katsumoto in Suidobashi and show you just how delicious Chukasoba can be!
Simon and Martina Love you guys so much ❤❤love from India
"You don't even need teeth!"
OMG The ending is so inappropriate!
Simon and Martina first thing I'm doing in Japan is finding some Chuka ramen WHOOP 😜
Simon and Martina Hood..
I really salute the chef who spoke english. He could just speak Japanese and we read the subtitles but idk I have so much respect for people like him
Chocolate pancakes
。
I agree, he handled it like a .. chef
Chocolate pancakes what? What if the other one does speak English well??? You don’t respect him because he spoke in the language of his country?
Amanda Nussbaum I think you misunderstand my statement. We know that most Japanese are very proud of their language and not all of them are fluent in English. There're also some people rather speak in their own mother tongue than in English because they might be afraid of people make fun of their accent/grammar mistakes/etc... or they're uncomfortable of speaking in other language. Instead he doesn't have that mindset and spoke casually in for Simon and Martina's audiences. I'm not disrespecting the other chef at all.
Amanda Nussbaum I'm assuming you're fluent in English and if you're bilingual or a polygot then you know that it takes confidence to speak in a language that's not native to your own without worrying how the other person who is fluent is going to respond. So why shouldn't someone commend someone for speaking in a different language? It's an incredible skill. That doesn't diminish the respect or the skill of the other chef. One person's skill or accomplishment doesn't diminish another's skill or accomplishment.
Japanese Chefs cook ramen with all their passion and hard work! I give them so much admiration. Great video Simon and Martina, cheers:)
It's really inspiring to see how much work they put in. I feel more inspired to make videos when we speak with chefs in Japan.
Wow!
Lee Loves Food ikr!!!
:))
Oh my gosh the ending made my morning 😂
You made me so hungry while watching, I dropped my phone on my face while watching. It was like a slap in the face that I’m not eating this right now.
All ramen is an adaption of Chinese soup noodle dishes. Ramen= La mian= Chinese hand stretched noodles. Similar to hand pulled egg noodles found in chaomein. But as every region and town has their version of the same dish, we should still try them all for the love of Ramen!
AZ la mian is usually very specifically northern style of noodles, it is an art form. Chaomein on the other hand, especially how it’s been deeply fucked into the abomination that it is in the west, is absolutely disgusting. It shouldn’t even be considered food.
I love how y’all always are able to get into the kitchen to film the food being made! It makes everything look extra delicious and adds such a level of professionalism to your videos!
Thank you! We're really trying to make our videos look better than before :D
Simon and Martina y’all are killing it! ❤️
that's what I like about their vlog too 😊
That ramen looks sooo good. And the chefs seem really sweet -- Kenichi's English is very good! ^^
He lived overseas for a bit!
Sounds like it might have been in the UK, or he had an English teacher from there. It was a cool to hear!
I will never get sick of your food videos!!
OMG Sherry~❤️ love your food videos too!
Thanks for the support! ♥
sherrybyw
Me either...I get hungry. >.
Those shots of the ramen being served are so pornographic. xD Sweet Jesus, it's 9am and I'm craving this so bad.
Martina is a pro ramen eater!
I really appreciate your recent videos. While they are paid promotions (which you make announce which makes you even more trustworthy), I never doubt that you enjoy the food you are eating. Your are too happy eating it for it to be any Other way! Currently you guys are helping me make a bucket list of foods I want try on my honeymoon! I would have never known about all these great places without you. Thank you!
+Punky Monkey thank you for feeling that way. We don’t do paid promotions unless we really like the product, and - at the same time - I want our paid videos to still be as entertaining as our regular videos, and to not seem out of place :)
Simon and Martina You both have done an awesome job at doing it. Watching your videos always feels like I am hanging out with friends who are very passionate about food! You guys are always very informative and fun! I hope you keep having the opportunity to get to do thing that you love (and hopefully get paid for it)!
I wanna see a video on how Martina did her hair! Girl that looks crazy cool.
Nova Lee yes! Grwm with martine edition would be great!
This is awesome guys! I live down the street from there and it is one a my wife’s favorite places.... even though i have never gone lol need to show her tjis video too!
You gotta go man!!! It doesn't rest heavy in your stomach like some oiler ramens. I think you could seriously eat it for lunch. DANGER RAMEN
I went to Tanaka Sobaten in Akihabara which serves chuuka soba. I’m Chinese so I can definitely taste the similarities with the noodle texture. Ramen after all was introduced by Chinese (lamen in Chinese). It was delicious!
so jealous of you
I went to Katsumoto Ramen during my last visit to Tokyo and I can say that it was the best bowl of Ramen I've ever had. It's amazing how in a Ramen paradise like Tokyo with so many fantastic places to eat ramen, Katsumoto delivers a masterpiece like this Chuka Soba. I stayed in Tokyo for 10 days and I need to go back there every day LOL. I tried all the combinations, all the broth thickness they have available and Wow, its perfection. Thank you very much guys for letting us know about this Gem.
Also, NOTIFICATION SQUAD! What are you having for dinner tonight? After all this ramen, we're just having cucumbers and tomatoes. Sad diet night...
I've been too sick to eat regular meals, but this makes me wish I could get chuka soba in my city
Simon and Martina dunno yet considering it's only 8:30 am and I haven't had breakfast yet☺🤗
Boiled egg with chili sauce 😥
We are having salad tonight.....even though I would much rather have ramen... lol
I will eat some thai curry and rice :D here in Germany
That ending. 😂😂😂😂
Hey Simon and Martina, I know some viewers love to request a variation of videos but I happen to love these. I usually eat on my own(no its not that sad 😂😂) and I find it therapeutic to watch these while eating. It makes me feel like I am there with you eating. Thank you 😊😊
At this point in my life, I am literally so stressed out but I look forward to every new video, its like opening a present each time because it lifts my mood and you're one of the few youtubers that I've been watching from the start and love so much thank you guys for being the way you are!! :D
色々ラーメン食べてると、一周まわって「中華そばが一番美味い!」ってなりますね☆
The old man ramen shop owner was adorable!
After going to Katsumoto's for Chuka Soba and coming back to watch this video months after my experience, oh my god it brings back so many memories of trying to find the place, then learning to use the ordering machine, the young lady that assisted me, and then having the Chuka Soba and especially remembering the words of one of the chef's saying "I want you to drink the broth first" and then finding how different that broth was to anything I'd had before just makes the memory right now after revisiting this video just so...wow, it makes me say "I actually got to go there and try that amazing food", so thank you, for sharing that with us, and in an odd way giving those of us who follow you the courage to go try it ourselves!
Thank you so much for coming back and sharing your experience! :) We love it there, they’re good people!
I love that there is basically a Ramen Playlist on your channel. I'm coming to Tokyo next year and I NEED TO CHECK every place from my bucket list. So thank you for being my tourist and food guide! I've been following you since your first years in Korea and I love you just as much!
HA! Yes, you saw the playlist? We have lots of ramen videos :D
Oooooooh. I think your newer food video format is very informative, especially when you interview the chefs.
Thank you! I'm glad you like them :D
I love everyone on this channel (spudgy included) you have made me so happy with your videos. Whenever I'm feeling sad I watch your videos and you both can always make me happu
You guys have come a long way, taking risks and diving into other cultures in different ways. So proud of your work. Always rooting for both of you and your educational food adventures. Love them.
Simon & Martina I really thank you for making this video about Chuka Soba! this is something I love to learn more about the Ramen culture within Japan more hidden ways than one.
I hope you learned a thing or two from this video!
YESSS EARLY MORNING UPLOADS!!!!
Love you guys! 😁❤️🤗
my favorite ramen spot in tokyo is Tsuta Soba in Sugamo!! i first found out about it in the short 4-episode j-drama “Ramen Daisuki Koizumi” (it’s about a girl and her love for ramen; all shops mentioned in the series are real Japan restaurants) and during each of our last two visits to Japan we made sure to go early in the morning to buy a ticket for lunch.. it’s the best bowl of noodles and soup i’ve ever had in my life. 🤗😍 it would be awesome if you checked out some places from the series (jiro ramen maybe?? I tried and couldn’t finish the bowl it was too insanely massive) and please go to tsuta!!! I’d recommend it highly to anyone who goes to tokyo ❤️ thanks simon and martina for the delicious content!!!!
I LOVED THAT SHOW! How did the song go again? KOJI SAN KOJI SAN SUKI SUKI! It was great :D
Man, I love your guys' videos!! Not only for the content and listening to what you both have to say, but for the camera work and editing. So good.
I love you guys and your videos so much!!! Martina seeing how you push through and your approach on life made you my role model. Watching your videos made a huge impact on my life and my choices, I am 17 and listening to you really changed my outlook on life and how I wanted to be as a person. I know that from now on no matter what I face I will build a ladder and push through. I love you guys so much and will always support you, please keep fighting through Martina . xx
This was a really tough week for Martina, but reading comments like this keep her motivated to not give up. Thank you :D
I love your ramen videos. Of course I love every video you make but ramen just has a special place in my heart.
I really like the ramen videos we've made. They make me happy :D
That ramen looks so good, damn- my mouth is watering and I literally have nothing to eat, save me
Oh man the editing in these food videos have just gotten better and better!!! I love it when they have footage of the chefs working on the dish. Shows all the hard work that goes into them
I'm glad you like the editing. Thank you!
YAY VIDEO ON MY BIRTHDAY! I'm so happy to watch one of your videos Simon and Martina! I recently got a blood transfusion for hemolytic anemia and being severely anemic. I am finally out of the hospital! Slowly building my ladder! Love you guys!
I was just thinking about watching a video of yours but reliased there aren't any new ones I haven't watched .. and BOOM a notification about this?! You clearly read minds 😄😂
Ha! We usually publish at 10PM on Sundays here in Japan, just in case you feel that urge again :D
I'm in the notification squad, but I got here before I even got the email! It's midnight here and I'm so happy!!!!
It's almost time for you to go to sleep!
I still can't get over the quality of Simon and Martina's videos, always putting out the best content!💗
Oh my gosh I'm salivating. That looked amazing and the chefs look so proud of their work, especially being shown here . Great job
TIL there are ramen fan magazines. :D
Eating instant ramen while watching this
Ugh thank you guys so much, this is why my partner and I are saving up to travel to Japan and taste all the lovely foods
I'm always amazed at the history behind a lot of foods. Like seriously, 1910?! Wow! That's amazing!! And the chefs put so much passion and emotion into their food as well... It's just so amazing....annndd I'm hungry
And I’m gonna say it... I’ve actually missed hearing the sound of you both slurping!
oh dang it... EARLY SQUAD WHERE U ATTT???

Chaos Khan *HANDS UP*
I went yesterday to the restaurant and OH MY GOD was it good, that chuuka soba revived us. Thank you for showing me this place
Been sick all weekend and binging your videos! What a pleasant surprise! Love you guys💖
Just gonna say, I really love how much effort is put in these info videos. Like you don't just go to the shop and eat, you give us facts and even interviews. I just wanted to show my thanks since I don't often comment xD
P.s I. Love. That. Sexy. Food. Porn. Voice. Over.
Thank you! We put a lot of effort into these videos. I hope we can be somewhat informative while not being too boring. I hope!
There is such a thing as a ramen magazine?!?!?! But then again there is such a thing a a bacon of the month club. Need to go to Japan!!
Now this is what I am talking about! I love hearing about all the food, because it makes me REALLY want to get out there and get all the foods! Love the videos never ever stop please!
Wow. I actually just discovered this channel and ashamed that I have not discovered it sooner.
YOU'VE GAINED A SUBSCRIBERRRR.
+Serena Lynn welcome to our crazy channel and to the Nasty Community! 👋🏻
Wow what’s next guise?! You what I’m looking forward to...? Your WINTER videos. Please go out and play in the show for us!
Ha! Ain't no snow here yet. It's still mild and gorgeous weather here in Tokyo :D
+Simon and Martina please do Christmas videos!! It really makes that time of year so much better watching Christmas themed videos from you guys. I keep replaying the old ones over and over and over again
I'm gonna raise my hand on this one.
Ramen Magazines?! Does that mean there are also magazines for Yakitori, Okonomiyaki, Kushiage, and maybe Katsu?
I don't know about other magazines, but there are ramen magazines, yes.
I'm just happy you guys replied. :)
I can't believe this is like a food channel now. It's gone throught such a transformation and I love it guys!
Ofc, shoot other things and I love them too
This is why I also love this channel you guys get to the detail points of Japanese foods!!!!
Ramen is Chinese food, and Chuka soba literally mean Chinese soba. Chuka 中華 is the Japanese word for ''Chinese food'', they intentionally don't translate it.
ILoveCoffee 👍
I keep looking at Martina's cute necklace it's so sparkly XD
I really love your F.A.P.F.A.P videos but i also miss W.T.F, and Eat your Sushi :c Will you guys ever do them again?
Omg I love the video you guys got where there was two chefs preparing the Ramen!!! So much passion and work going into one bowl!
Also the Ramen looks amazing!!!
Your editing skill and style are on-air level! Very pleasant to watch this clip guys thanks for the fun.
Thank you!
*I'M NOT ASHAMED*
THAT'S THE ATTITUDE!
Its 6:26am here in Seattle and I want some ramen for breakfast! 🐷🐖🐽
It's 11:30PM here and I want some Ramen now as well!
Always glad for some ramen vids!
I really adore the camera work in this video. It's hard to come across a food review video like this!
My friend is going to Japan in a few months on holiday with her boyfriend. Problem is she's allergic to all seafood, not in an anaphylaxis way though so not that dangerous. Could you guys make a list of things that don't have seafood in them? I want her to experience Japan properly 😄
That could be a bit of a problem, because seafood is used widely in Japanese cooking. Even things that you might not expect to have seafood in may have been prepared using a seafood based stock (dashi). For example vegetables may be cooked in dashi, a salad dressing might contain dashi, miso and other soups will contain dashi, the okonomiyaki batter will contain dashi etc. Also salads may contain seaweed (is she allergic to seaweed?). Your friend better double check with the staff.
Simon wanting to take off his clothes reminds me of the anime shokugeki no souma where the people eat amazing food and as a result get semi-undressed xD
Omg I can’t wait to eat here!! I’m going to Japan in March and this place is a 10 minute walk from our Air BnB!!! Thanks Simon & Martina!!! 🙏
Love watching all your videos on Ramen. It's Soo cool to look at all the different types and variations between places. Sooo cool and interesting and making my put Japan on top of my travel list. Awesome videos and love the editing. So refreshing and clean cut!!!
Best way to start any day!!
Ramen is a pretty good way to start the day, I'd say!
Initiate hunger 😂
Wow the B-Rolls are sooooooo good. You guys improved so much in the last years!
You're uploading so much lately, I love it!
Katsumoto was on TV several days ago. That chef was the chief cook of a famous hotel. And several gourmet critics said maybe this restaurant will be on the Michelin Guide.
Oh yeah?! Well shit: this place deserves a Michelin star. It's legitimately amazing.
So perhaps they are very busy now. I also hope they get a star.
“Ramen” comes from the Chinese 拉面 (la mien) or pulled noodles. #funfacts
kayleighisacat chuka soba is a racist term #funfacts
kayleighisacat it's an old term, people did not make a big deal out of it until recently
Great video! The second chef's little laugh after he finished speaking was so cute! He spoke amazing English
I'll be visiting Japan and Korea next February so I'll have to rewatch all the food adventure videos 😁 so thank you!
Also it is thanks to your vlogs that I am so into Korean culture and food 😊 you do a fantastic job of representing it in a way that people of all levels of interest can enjoy the content 5*'s! 😉
last time I was this early, it was a kpop video
Daaaamn that was a while ago!
Simon and Martina Do u guys still follow Super Junior? Also have u found any under-rated jpop groups?
Lemme say here: Simon and Martina helped me find Super Junior thru Kpop Music Monday and now I have been loving them for 3 years and enjoying their comeback right now in Seoul!! So thanks guys so much! ^^
How much does a bowl of this ramen cost? You know, for research purposes
Roughly $9 or so :D
It was so much fun to watch this video while having breakfast, it was almost like eating together. You two obviously had a blast with the soba! :)
I’ve been craving noodles for the past week and this just furthers the crave! I love y’all !
You gotta try Toyama black. The flavor is so deep, and our favorite shop loads up your bowl with incredibly tender atsu-giri chashyu. It's just this small ramen-ya / izakaya, but it probably has the best ramen in Hokkuriku.
I'll add that to our list. Thanks for the tip!
Shop's name is めん八, by the way. But come to think of it the noodles are pretty thick so it might not be your style.
Love tha bat Martina!
Nice video! Keep up the great work Simon and Martina!
AH! I actually get to catch it very shortly after you upload! I plan on visting my friend in Yokohama over the summer, *fingers crossed*, and I am marking places that I want to go when she takes me into Tokyo! So thank you for these amazing videos that always leave us drooling and planning where to visit!
I hope you have a great time when you're here!
I can't wait! We're planning for Golden Week, so it'll be semi close to my 29th birthday!
1:51 he cute 😮
Please make more cooking vids!
We've got another two coming soon!
This is the only channel where I don’t skip the ads. HOPE YOU GUYS MAKE VIDEOS FOREVER ❤️ love you
YOU ARE A BLESSED SOUL!
Great stuff guys keep up the good work!!
Notification squad
THE VERY BEST SQUAD!
I'm alone at home and still feel a bit ashamed by these food porn shots at the end ~~~
wow i'm so early, love your videos!
I get so excited whenever you guys publish another video!!
I get excited when I see people's comments :D
勝本だ!おいしそう(゜ρ゜)
Chuka (中華) means ''Chinese food''. So, Chuka Soba or 中華そば means ''Chinese noodles'' or ''Chinese soba''.
I would say i don’t ever think I’ll get tired of ramen. I can literally have it everyday, breakfast lunch and dinner ❤️❤️
tfw i have been on a strict diet due to heart problems and watching simon and martina's videos makes me so envious ; w ; that looks so good

Thank you so much for this video. I needed something to make me smile today
"includes paid promotion" this is the best kind of ad, it's a regular video that's informative and interesting and funny. you don't do sponsorships by half lol.
