What is really a very tough deal is to be employed in a good job, but only to be tarnished by fellow employees who have these opinions which Randy described. As an employee who needs to provide for his family, and actually enjoys the work you provide your employer, is spoiled to the rotten core by these individuals. I put up with it for 25 years. It is so nice to go fishing alone on a lake and not hear a single person’s voice.
Being open minded is extremely important, the older I get the more open minded I become. I would rather admit I'm wrong or made a mistake & learn something or from an experience than think I'm always right or what I believe or doing is right. Some times people are just completely married to an idea or thought like you said. It hits a nerve & to them there's no way something else could be true. Or opposite of what they think. I kinda feel bad for someone like that but there's cno arguing with them.
There are times when digging in on your views or opinions. For me, a few of those are belief in God, the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and personal responsibility. Without writing a book here, nobody will ever win a discussion/debate with me on these topics/beliefs. Yes I am hard headed on these, but generational learning has brought me to where I am and those ideas still work.
Same people just don't want to look at both sides of a topic.I had a conversation recenty that was going in the wrong direction quickly,..I pick my battles more than ever these days.
I appreciate your effort Randy but I was thinking while watching the video that you should have changed the camera angle so it looked like you were talking to the stone wall behind you.
I think most of our generation up till the last 10yrs +- has walked around asleep and now awake they fly to an extreme, still struggling to own an opinion of their own.
I was locked in until the news/politics angle came about. You have some great points, but this scenario comes about way too often on your Mental Monday episodes. Keep grinding Randy, appreciate ya.
When friends bring up politics and news , I ask them can we change the subject or if it does not stop , I make up an excuse to call em back , cause if your belief is different and I don’t see it their way they get irate with me , some friends not all
When people actually realize that ALL the news media is tailored to whoever funds them then we could get somewhere.
Agree. Basing facts off of news organizations is a recipe for disaster, no matter which side of the isle it comes from.
This is hitting the nail on the head, which is one of the reasons I go fishing. TO GET AWAY FROM THESE SHENNIGANS!
Great video and discussion

Randy, Thank you for all your fishing tips and for your thoughts and wisdom. Much appreciate it.
Actual facts and truth make them feel both threatened and embarrassed at the same time
I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion but they are not entitled to their own facts.

Same people just don't want to look at both sides of a topic.I had a conversation recenty that was going in the wrong direction quickly,..I pick my battles more than ever these days.
Yep I know people that I would love to tell them an opinion based on fact but have decided like you said it ain't happening so save the anxiety.
I have that friend, Randy.
Haven't you done this one before.. Or am I only hearing what I want hear? 🤷♂️

Societies fall apart when their members are no longer capable of communicating with each other.
If we're honest every single one of us is guilty of this. Those that feel they aren't are more dangerous than those that admit they are IMO.
If people could be objective equally to all media and have integrity things would be fine but integrity isn’t common anymore

That’s because it influences every part of our society and has an effect on people mentally

All the information is the best weapon against extremes or ignorance.
