    idea of a great meal is when you get to eat it. A restaurant I know, serves the food a half an hour later than the normal lunch hours. the smells and the juices in the stomach, make the food taste great when one is really hungry.

      Should be happy that you have good taste and good sense to want to learn from someone like Rory.
      Should also be happy he gets paid for public speaking amongst the other things he does without having to try and peddle off ridgewallets or talking you into downloading raid shadowlegends.
      Or needing a patreon. He is good at what he does because he doesn't need to focus on view counts, subs or e-begging.

    I feel like the Mises quote is not correct. In the case where the whole is more than the sum of its parts, it does not follow that the individual parts contribute the same. And one can make a distinction of the contribution of the individual constituent under some milde and perhabs reasonable assumption (think e.g. of Shapley-Values from cooperative game theory).
    Though I agree with the sentiment of subjective value ...

    1. I’d happily sell back all my annual leave for a 10% pay bump.
    2. Fruit cocktails don’t bother me at all, I’d drink booze out of a colostomy bag if they were strong enough.

    Rory is a genius. The only thing I don't agree with is having a drink menu with photos. A menu with photos makes the place look very cheap. Now, , if you order a drink called Summer Vibes, there's a good chance it will come in a banana-shaped glass. Needless to say the bar where you went to get your drink to.

    • @Olyfrun
      @Olyfrun 3 месяца назад +2

      What don't you agree with about that?
      Also sorry, I couldn't understand your last sentence

    • @Cacuofa
      @Cacuofa 3 месяца назад

      @@Olyfrun First off, let me clarify that I'm not against the great Rory, he's number one on my list, and it would be totally out of line to think otherwise. My point is that restaurants or bars that showcase photos of their dishes or cocktails tend to be on the cheaper side. No high-end, trendy restaurant has a menu with pictures next to each item. And regarding my last comment, the name of the cocktail and the place where you order it can give you a pretty good clue about what to expect. If a drink is called 'Banana Waves' and you're ordering it at a beachside bar, don’t expect something that looks like a classic whisky on the rocks.

    • @Jacam781
      @Jacam781 Месяц назад

      @@Cacuofa I don't think he was seriously advocating for that, and you're both right really - they won't sell the cocktail if there's no picture, and they won't put a picture on as it's cheap, therefore.... they won't sell any of that cocktail to men.

    • @StanFisher-qh9wg
      @StanFisher-qh9wg Месяц назад +1

      Less a photo per se - most of the cocktail bars 😢 been to have a little drawing of the kind of glass its in drawn in the general aesthetic style of the restaurant, which works on me without feeling cheap!

      My comment wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously either. It was just a thought in the moment. I’d never start a discussion with Rory’s ideas, they’re what actually trigger this nonsense debate jajaja. Cheers!

    reframing wealth? wealth is economic hoarding. it's the caveman who single-handedly kills the wooly mammoth and keeps the decaying carcass all to himself. if you're so great at building companies, how about building people? We need to value nurturing as much as we do performance.

    • @johnonline1135
      @johnonline1135 Месяц назад

      You sound like you should have blue hair, nose ring, a degree in transgender aboriginal pottery and vote for AOC. At least have some intellectual integrity.
      Wealth in no way equates to a decaying mammoth carcass. The carcass is spoiled and will literally be wasted if not shared. Wealth can be stored and used later at your convenience. At least understand that much.
      Moreover even if the carcass goes largely to waste, it's a valuable lesson to those who didn't contribute. We're not rewarding you for bludging and avoiding all effort and risk while we risk our lives to feed you. Fuck you. Pull your weight or starve.
      It makes perfect sense to horde resources that last. What sort of dickhead doesn't understand that simple insurance against it raining tomorrow or themselves breaking a leg?
      You want some money? Go and earn it. Now you can do whatever you want with it and it's none of anybody else's business. Especial virtue signalling imbeciles mindlessly repeating mantras they clearly don't understand.

      You're looking at it from a micro point of view.
      Developing people is part and parcel of developing a company.

    • @emthority
      @emthority Месяц назад

      @@chinaman1 the goal of a company is to pay as few people as possible as little as they can. Without a CPO operating in the best interests of the employees, the goal of the CEO is in opposition to those of the staff because they represent an expense, not an investment. That’s exactly what every balance sheet shows.

    • @chinaman1
      @chinaman1 Месяц назад

      @@emthority Again, that's such a micro point of view, that's when a company already have a great product and do not need further development, they can just hire the best and demand everything from them. There's no development needed at all. Something like Google and Amazon where they have 1 great product that's essentially their cash cow and they just throw their money at developing products. not People.
      up and coming companies or small to medium sized companies needs to develop their people, because they do not have the resources to just hire 20 year experienced engineer to develop their products. They have to learn and grow as a company. Even if you are not paying many people, you are paying just 1 guy, you are also paying to develop that guy, and as that guy grows, you pay him more. but that guy can't do everything alone, he still need assistance, which you end up paying for 1-2 more people to help him. and by the end of the year you have 10 people on the team doing different things.
      It's called growth. Not every company just poof and appears successful. Many of which that does that, think Theranos and Juicero, which both are scams. Development of the employees is just as important as paying lesser people.

    • @emthority
      @emthority 26 дней назад

      @@chinaman1 I’m not sure what your corporate development experience is but a company’s goal is to pay as few people as possible as little as possible to make money selling a product of service. The CEO, to whom the CPO or similar report, operates in the best interest of the company first and customer second. Staff are a distant third and, even then, it’s doing the absolute minimum to get the job done.
      Employees are trained. Development only leads to turnover because management is incompetent, belligerent or selfish. Why? Because company’s never invested in the people skills in the first place.
