I'm usually more into performance related tuning instead of show & shine, but I always found the old Gemballa cars kinda cool because of how over the top they were. I didn't see the 959 Tribute before, but damn, Porsche should hire the guy and make the thing, it's easily the best looking Porsche I've seen recently.
With all that you said about the murderer, I hope we don't have a video in the future titled as: "Why was a Car show host assassinated by South African Gangsters?"
Sadly, only option he can do is acquire their company out right with big money since his family was declared bankruptcy and sold whole company to another business man. His family lost control on that company since then. If current owner can agree with that deal, it may happen in future.
That 560 SEC is a dream of mine, its design is not loud like their other designs, still retaining much of the original bodywork, but with a wider stance, more aggressive front and no enormous strakes in the rare fenders, just big enough to stand out.

The 930 was just the designation for the first Turbo 911s. The generation is what’s known as the G-Body 911. The internal chassis code for that generation is still just 911 because it is still the same chassis as the original 911, designated 901

Great video and very well presented. Just one remark: I would dare to assume that you got the exchange rate from Deutsche Mark to Dollar wrong by having calculated with factor 2. it actually was closer to 0,5 those days.
Nolan, please check the story of a Brazilian automaker called GURGEL ... It will blow your mind!!!! They were building crazy efficient and safe cars decades before was cool...hhehhehe
Gemballa’s body kit stuff was tacky at the time, but coke made people buy a lot of tacky shit back then. His technical innovations were, on the other hand, witchcraft that was 10 to 25 years before its time. Amazing stuff.
I remember the Mirage from the cover of a stereo catalogue back in the 90's (I think it was Pioneer of Kenwood). It was the most awesome 911 I had ever seen. (edit... now that I watched the whole video I'm pretty confident it was Pioneer)
Love that not only was a 1 of 25 heavily modified version of an already desirable car irreparably destroyed but also it was dropped after not being deemed reckless driving. Money is above the law and it’s dumb as hell.
I for one am happy to see James show so much emotion, you can feel his sadness towards what happened with gemballa and his son being sued and all. honestly its fucked how they're suing him for claiming hes his father's son quality content as usual keep it up
What a wild ending for a wild company. I still remember seeing Vanilla Ice's Gemballa Porsche in person during the height of his career. Seriously impressive vehicle.
I parked that car in 90' or 91' when I worked as a valet at the Chart House in Miami. The thing sounded like an off shore speed boat at idle. It was nuts. I remember he was very nice and gave me a $20. The highest tip I ever got. One of the most memorable cars I've ever seen in person.
Many people believe that he set it up himself though. The machine guns were homemade and had no rifling. They had no chance of actually getting through the armor of his car. His car's armor was rated up to .44 caliber, what we call Class 2 armor, and the guns were shooting 9mm rounds but with no rifling and weren't bored correctly.
Dupont Registry always had Gembala Porsches in the books for sale when I was a kid. They looked sick, and honestly they still do. Granted, some things may be dated, but overall the design for the age was pretty legit.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I remember these cars (and DP) very well and I always thought they looked completely ghetto and beyond ridiculous. Only someone like Vanilla Ice would buy something as gawdawful looking as a Gemballa Porsche.

@@d10rr18 lol they do exist for marine applications. Snowmobiles have very advanced 2 strokes, and I was imagining an engine based on one of those. Is it realistic for a production car though? No lol
Your conversion of the DM to $ for 1986 is incorrect. If I recall, it was about 2.5 Marks to the dollar (2.5 marks = 1 dollar), down from over 3 Marks to the dollar a year earlier. The entire time I was stationed in Germany, through the ‘80’s, I don’t recall the mark ever being worth more than the dollar. 390,000 DM is not equal to 790,000 US dollars.
Interesting story about these cars. He seems to be the guy that maybe started the “testarossa scoops on things other than ferraris” trend that I remember much lower end kit copies in the back of Truckin, Hot VWs, and tuner mags in the 80s.
Kreijcer is serving 35 years in prison in South Africa which will be followed up by another 15 in his home country. He had many connections to the Cape Town underworld of extortion, drug smuggling and money laundering.

I was looking for a place to comment and your comment struck me in a lot of ways? First I learned quite a bit today? I thought the Slant Nose was A variation of the 9/11 from the factory. Kind of like the Ford Mustang and you have the GT or the Salween. I did not know it went to another shop ? I absolutely love everything he visioned! Vi An I was always wowed when I saw a 911 ! So low wheels tucked perfectly in whales ! 2 big gauges on the dash and the Largest is for RMP ? That took time to adjust! I was so fascinated with the all white Carrera or the Cabriolet! I too never ever thought I could afford one ? Plus I knew of no one who had one. So I started a small but profitable business so my wife can stay home and manage the office and take calls and stay with our one and three year old. I will do the labor during the day of the work week around 15 to 20hrs. My main job was paint Quality Control At a Ford motor company assembly plant in Va. I worked 68.5hrs week! 5:30-4am 6 days. I always enjoyed cars and never having a note. So I drove restored 60s cars . So I drove an 81 escort all the time with no AC in the radio and the wife drove S420 and out of the SR Navigator. I made sure she was in a great ride. One day I drove by a showroom that Only carried exotic cars ! Mostly a few years older or a classic. This night it was very bright really bright as I come upon and there it was 1987 white 911 Carrara! I had to go to the glass and look! Wow it’s been a long time just to see one! So the next night was double date with a very upper 2% friend. I took them over to it at 2am after dancing! I was surprised they loved it! I thought it would be too old because he just bought a viper! So I went in and loved it! He asked me to get in ? I did but turned down driving? I knew I would buy it! So I left and my wife was very supportive saying we have the money! I just couldn’t do it with a new family. So a month goes by and I read an article about a white 911 from the newspaper saying who owned the car. Everyone knows that lawyer but it stated he lowered his price? When I saw that price 65% less I went right then and bought it ! I asked for it to go to a Porsche mechanic before I paid cash. Np I never did that before but I know nothing about a 911? It came back awesome compression test and after a 4 hour go over he gave me the green light! We already made plans for me to return the car to him after the weekend? I got back and there were 4 buyers ready to start a bidding war with 2 on the phone lines. I did not take my cell phone with me that day! The owner of the shop was shaking? I gave him cash and he wasn’t happy for me anymore? He said he regretted me taking it to the shop with that kind of price! I don’t care I said? I’m great full to have that money! I’m a blue collar worker and I can’t take a chance with Rods , pistons , oil pressure problems because I have no money for those problems ! He took everything in and realized this is not a toy for me? I never thought I would drive one. Now I own this and here are my plans ? Bam I got a white tail and completely whited the car! White cashmere carpet with already white leather solid white 911 , all white tail with black on top, white 911 wheels painted and matched 911. I dropped it all the way down keeping wheels even. Very easy like nascar floorjack and long tool to lower pit stop. I took out all gauges and shipped to Germany to install all bright white gauges. All white matched! This was the most important to me! Blacked all glass including windshield! Never pulled over? Then I thought deeply about my car ? I came up with a plan for driving? I carpeted in our home garage end it had heat and AC so that’s perfect. Period I never wanted to feel unappreciative of having that car. So I took it out dates with my wife. Golfing and well known socials. There is nothing like having a car park in the front Of every social event in any city and the song that always played BigE “ my car go 150 Swiftly with NO car payment “ at canopy everywhere we go ! The biggest credentials that I have ever received with that car? Are downtown locked out every car on the street except for Ferraris! It was Ferrari Friday night only in the downtown area only! Anyone parking in downtown in 24hr towed!! Somehow they let a beautiful white 911 park on the main strip. 95% of cars or red lol. I sold it and started another business and yes I do miss it

With all that you said about the murderer, I hope we don't have a video in the future titled as:
"Why was a Car show host assassinated by South African Gangsters?"
Allegedly

gemballas son should be allowed to take full ownership of his dads company.
Unfortunately it got sold when declared bankrupt
Sadly, only option he can do is acquire their company out right with big money since his family was declared bankruptcy and sold whole company to another business man. His family lost control on that company since then.
If current owner can agree with that deal, it may happen in future.
Dno bout that. He should be able to use his own name on any car that he designs/builds tho
Gemballa was featured in Midnight Club 3 with the Gemballa Turbo Coupe the Gemballa F355 and the Gemballa GT 750.
@@1223-k5r that's exactly what he's doing. His company is now named Marc Philipp Gemballa cars
That 560 SEC is a dream of mine, its design is not loud like their other designs, still retaining much of the original bodywork, but with a wider stance, more aggressive front and no enormous strakes in the rare fenders, just big enough to stand out.
This mans script is always on top. The music in this video was amazing. Great job donut
I would have bought a Gemballa Porsche in the 90’s if I could afford it. It looks so cool for 90’s vibe.
RUFs were better cars even back then. That's why even Gemballa went to RUF for stuff for his cars.
If only all Uwe's had this much talent.
I like how you say " uwe". Greetings from Leonberg, Germany( Home of gemballa)
I think many Americans became aware of the correct pronunciation thanks to Uwe Boll, as he grew more and more infamous for his eclectic shenanigans around video game movies.
I actually paused the video to search the comments to see if anyone pointed this out. It was driving me crazy!!
@@11CTS-V Why? Isn't he saying it right?
@@OneEyeDollar6 It's pronounced "Oo-vuh" not "Oo-vey." I'm not fluent, but the E in German is pronounced with the long "ee" sound, so not sure where either pronunciation comes from tbh.
What about RUF? Is it pronounced like "Roof" or "Rough"?
Damn that was awesome. It was a totally 80’s and 90’s story even with the possible gang murder. I think this is the first Donut video I’ve seen, but it won’t be the last. Good stuff!
I'll never get tired of the glasses push up reload sound
Damn Netflix should make a Series out of this
Yeah it would be a smash hit. Sequels with his sons business.
This is definitely one of the best stories ever on the channel.
Never seen your videos before. Very impressive, excellent narration, perfect humour…even Bond himself would be intrigued.
Kept me watching till the end.
Good work 👍
The 930 was just the designation for the first Turbo 911s. The generation is what’s known as the G-Body 911. The internal chassis code for that generation is still just 911 because it is still the same chassis as the original 911, designated 901
I remember seeing the news about an abandoned Polo catching fire because of hidden guns remotely controlled🤣🤣didnt expect it would make it to donut media few years later
I was a neighbor to Radovan back when he lived still in his villa in Czech Republic. :D
Great video and very well presented. Just one remark: I would dare to assume that you got the exchange rate from Deutsche Mark to Dollar wrong by having calculated with factor 2. it actually was closer to 0,5 those days.
I actually dealt with 1980 his credit checks would bounce 'had to learn german for him to pick up the phone 'but he paid me '
Nolan, please check the story of a Brazilian automaker called GURGEL ...

Did you know anyone who associated with him?
I remember the Mirage from the cover of a stereo catalogue back in the 90's (I think it was Pioneer of Kenwood). It was the most awesome 911 I had ever seen. (edit... now that I watched the whole video I'm pretty confident it was Pioneer)
The car literally had Pioneer decals lmao
I send my condolences to Mr. Gemballa’s family. Thank you for modding awesome cars

Uwe Gemballa's story is def. some proper movie material. Hey Netflix, are you down with it?
I remember that custom Enzo. I was a fan and I was my desktop background on my windows 2000 PC lol

Don't worry once he's out of jail in south Africa doing 15.5 he has to serve 35 in Czech
That conversion is very misleading my guy. 390,000 DM in 1983 was equivalent to about $160,000 not $700,000. Way off.
Sheesh!😅
Nolan really stepping up his German skills in this video
I want to find old Gembella bits for my 944 someday
Build your own . You just need clay, fiberglass, resin and passion.
Never thought I would hear about Radovan Krejcir on a car show. International man of mystery
That man barely flinched when he was almost assassinated. That's crazy af.
The DOT Matrix printer sound effect was awesome! Nostalgia aplenty
I think you got the Deutsche Mark confused with the EURO. Back then, 1 USD was equal to 2.90ish DM.

I already knew part of the story, amazing, could easily be a Hollywood movie! Nice work, i wondered that you don't done it earlier...
To be honest, the Mig U1 looks absolutely stunning.
IMO I'd hope it's not as much of a brick as the plane it's named after.
I mean I liked it when it came out. When I was like 16. Now I'd go for something more subtle.
You should do a video on weather the 25 year import laws makes sense... and actually do a comparison between emissions and safety standards between US and the EU.
That's a good idea. These guys have touched on this subject in other vids but I would really like to hear more about them as well.

First off, you're an awesome presenter truly ! Congrats on your continued success here. Secondly, wow, what a story and life of father, and son. These designs are incredibly visionary, fun and yes, comical but it is so amazing I LOVE THEM ALL and I don't often say that about anything. I love adventurous, ambitious and personal designs, so passionate, and dedicated. Giving so much enjoyment and creativity to the world. I feel grateful and honored to know he existed but saddened by his terrible end ! I love the evolution through the son, of course right !?! Wow ! I could never afford a car but I love love love looking at them. I subscribed and liked. Best always and take care everyone!! -Vi An MUSIC
