Scary stuff with another combine fire, but it sounds like you have it figured out. Hopefully your dealer can correct that fan and that should bring engine temps down too. Thanks for the video, I sure enjoy watching your harvest progress.
Love your videos. Why dont you put metal siding all the way to thge ground on the calf shelters to keep the snow and wind out and the heat in?? Also, when you blow in wheat straw why not get the cows all out of the way so you dont have a freak accident with straw poking some cows eye
Awesome video Kendal another combine fire hope you get it figured out was it the same combine and is that the one you had on loan or you're own one Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
I'm sure drummonds is all over it...but wondering if variable fan pitch is checked off in the setup table. We had our s97 always running warmer than the s98. Changed that and problem solved. Love the reversing fan but not a huge fan on the variable pitch that corresponds with engine temp.
We had our S98 fan pitch sensor fail at 1200hrs. I think it is a common issue with those flexxair reversing fan sensors. Ours just would not reverse on its own or do the auto adjustment according to temp. May not be your issue, but might be something to be aware of. The pitch angle sensor in the fan hub is a fairly intricate little setup. (FYI, you can source those sensor parts from flexxair direct for like ⅓ the price agco will sell it for)
We changed thermostat, it was only opening at 190, supposed to open at 180. I think the reversing fan kept trying to cool and that was bringing straw into compartment. But we will keep this in mind, so far everything is under warranty.
We had another situation with fire in the motor area. Darryl was in the motor area when Dylan shut the combine off, and as the motor showed down, the pitch of the fan changed. It's like the fan doesn't know when to be at the right pitch? Thoughts?
@TwinElmFarms i would think if its related to the pitch angle sensor, it would throw a code. But maybe not, maybe only if it fails completely. I think they are self calibrating every time the engine is started. But may be worth looking if the reversing fan can be force calibrated manually. I cant remember off the top of my head. I would be very suspicious of the pitch angle sensor in the center of the fan hub. When i pulled ours out to investigate, there is a tiny little hollow tube in the centre of the hub that the coil of the sensor slides back and forth on. What happens is the little tube breaks ooff of its bolt and is no longer attatched to the hub, then the sensor has no idea where it is. But it would throw a code in this case. If its not throwing a code, maybe its in the sensor that runs on that little tube, might be just dicky. Or i wonder if there is an oil supply issue to the fan actuation system, its hydraulic actuated. Could be anything honestly. But id look at a few of those things, maybe the polarity on the sensor is ass about or something. Theres nothing else in there related to the variable pitch fan, other then a computer somewhere..........
I have photos of ours when i pulled it to bits if you get curious. We are going to put the new sensor jn ours in the next few days as we finished last harvest with no sensor in there. Just means the fan should revert to full suction at all times, can still reverse the fan manually, it just cycles its full stroke on the hub and goes back to full suction again. No temp regulation for hp saving
On a windy day our 77 would reverse and sucked chaff on the motor then it would light then blow the embers down the side of the combine……bottom line shut off the reverser
Another great video guys, love the channel

Thanks again!!!
Thanks for video…
Glad you caught it before it got right out of hand ..

Thanks, we changed thermostat. They are supposed to open at 180 is was opening at 190. If that doesn't solve it, I will pass this on to them.

My fan on front end loader had problems with the reversing. Fan it was computer
What size tires on front and back of S98
Rear tires are 620/75 R26, front 520/85 R42 duals
