- This tutorial shows our prefered way to prepare and clean films before digitalisation. We apply this method for the films we transfer. This video is valid for all films, e.g. super8, regular8, 9,5mm and 16mm film.

Looks great. I could imagine convert this to a longplay unit for my Super 8 projector.

I use alcohol to clean. It is safe and functional. It does not damage the emulsion, it is reliable.
Olá Rodrigo! Poderia me dizer que tipo de álcool usar? Por esquecimento deixamos um rolo, dentro da embalagem plástica, num local onde pegou sol e agora o filme está com uma umidade, parece ter soltado uma espécie de tinta... Tb apresenta muitas partes "amassadas", certamente por causa do calor recebido. Vc sabe como eu poderia limpar nesse caso? I have a problem. When cleaning - the film sticks to itself and when unwinding it almost ruins the film.
Which cleaning fluid are u using?
Van Eck Video Services I normally use isopropyl alcohol but I’m guessing that isn’t good??

Only film cleaner did not destroy the film.
Van Eck Video Services Well - alcohol still cleans the film but when the emulsion swells and sticks to itself when wound during cleaning - it dries when stuck to itself. How does film cleaning prevent this? Does it not swell the emulsion? Because emulsion is very absorbent and what not.

Film cleaner will NOT remove mold. For removing mold you need a special cleaning machine. We have such a machine and offer the service to clean films with mold.
I removed lots of mold without a special machine. I unrolled the film in a bucket filled with demineralised water. Next I moved the film between my fingers to clean it from the mold and hang it in big loops to dry at a line. The result? 100 % clean film.
It will take some time, but it works perfect. And ... its free. Only some Euro's for the demineralised water.

Oh, please, please, please tell me. I need to do this to many, many tapes that I want to have converted to DVD,s for my granddaughter before I die. They are old family tapes of me as a child and my family, none of whom she’s ever known. I don’t have a tape rewinder. Do you just rewind them on a reel by hand?

Avec ont pouvait contrôler le film si le type était pas ok ces qu' il voulait vous vendre une copie pourri ou alors avec les vrais cinéphiles et amis ils y avait une estime et confiance réciproque. Il faut dire que quand j était gosse jme suis fait arnaquer après jai été très prudent . Donc j en revien a l enrouleuse munuel indispensable en 8 et 16 mm .
