I am glad I have watched both of the parts! StopMotion and 3D animation. I personally enjoy stopmotion more but damn you did an amazing job on the 3D animation so well done! The story also was well done, I was watching all along the way very entertained!
Yeah umm i don’t think stopmotion studio does that for me😅 But what you are doing is crazy man, it looks like you have a lot of fun with it...keep it up! This was cool to see the “behind the scenes” thing very cool
It's clear that you put a lot of work into the project and it shows in the final product! I liked the first part and I think the second is wonderful! The 3d animation comes very close to that of The Lego Movie!
Here's an idea, maybe add a rotation noise modifier on the characters' hair on the Y axis, to simulate how the hair would move slightly if you moved the head in real lego stop motion, cause human fingers are too big to grab on to just the head of a minifig alone, so the hair would rotate off center too. It's just a thought i had when watching this, i don't actually know if that's a problem any more with real lego stop motion.
Awesome! I’ve been inspired by your work and I started researching Blender Bricks. You’ve completing blown me away two times! It’s been such an experience watching your films from the point of view of a Star Wars fan, a stop-motion animator, and a film critic (not really). Keep up the good work!
Great behind the scenes video! It's nice that you're keeping George Lucas' tradition of in-depth Star Wars BTS alive at a time when official Disney Star Wars content is pretty limited when it comes to transparency and openness about the production process.
When I first watched Dissent, I thought it was just really good stop-motion - it's incredible that you 3D animated this! Looked on-par with The Lego Movie.
Thanks for sharing your experience. This movie is a great inspiration for me as I am currently shooting a LEGO stop-motion movie in the Star Wars universe using a bit of 3D rendering on Blender as an additional possibility to expand the scenery.
I LOVED the movie. I would enjoy you continuing this series, maybe the jedi's journey in a new empire rule, or the battle for the planet before these events
Ever since I saw you planned on using blender I was inspired to make animations on blender too, I'm still learning and my rig is pretty weak but its great fun and I can't wait to see more of your tutorials, words can't express how helpful they've been.
This is awesome, thanks Owen. I'd really love some detail on your final render settings (samples, bounces etc), and how to get the glossiness "right" on mecabricks models in a tutorial if possible - I know that's probably not the most interesting topic for many, but your photorealism is above next level! ♥
@@OwenatorProductions would be great if you could do an updated one as you've clearly learnt a lot yourself since your early tutorials (which we're still awesome!) for the finished star wars one :)
When watching it it thought it was done w real lego. This is amazing. So the textures come with the fig when you import it into blender or do I have to do anything else. Truly amazing work.
This is amazing! How did you get the textures to look so realistic though? They almost looked like real Lego, with their small scratches, fingerprints and other imperfections. That, and the great story and characters, is what really stood out for me.
Dang, and I thought doing stop motion and editing it in after effects was complicated haha. Amazing work though, I think I’ve watched your Brickfilm like five times now lol
Could you possibly do an updated tutorial on this? This looks interesting and I could maybe do bigger projects that are too ambitious for me in normal stop motion once I figure it out.
Are you going to do another tutorial on making a brickfilm in blender? I would love to start, but a lot of the tutorials seems a little dated. Are there any you suggest watching, maybe even yours if you still think it holds up.
Yeah his tutorial definitely does still hold up though parts are outdated. There are other tutorials on using the epicfigrig as well as customizing mecabricks textures. A basic understanding of blender should do and if you have anything you want to learn, RUclips is the way to go. You should also learn the basic principles of animation. (Movement, Cameras, etc.) Alot of it is just practice and experimentation so don't get discouraged! Also don't forget to start basic and work from there. GL!
Any chance of a quick tutorial on how to edit the face to custom? I purchased Mecaface but now can't seem to figure out how to make this custom for my film. Any links, tutorials and such would be super...super helpful! Love the vids and thanks!
@@OwenatorProductions thanks so much. I've gone through all the main ones I can see on his channel...even the one where you can make a rig. But just changing the plane and such like you mention in this video.....do you happen to know which video of his references this? Thanks so much!
@@OwenatorProductions HAHAHAHAHA! I've skimmed that video way too many times. I both hope it is and isn't that video! Thanks for helping a day 1 noob of the Mecaface rig out!

This Jambo guy sounds cool
I know, his music reminds me of Samuel Kim. It's like you admire him or something.
Ikr, he sounds pretty cool.
Owen: “You need a pretty beefy computer to run this”

Bro bro bro bro bro i dont know If im stupid but i thought it was real stop motion until i saw this vid
And then this happened, mecaface. How weird I wonder who made that haha
Ahh, Mecaface is just so helpful! Thank you so much for creating it, lol.
It was so worth it waiting for the second part!
It was definitely worth it it's amazing
You did an awesome job replicating the stop motion animation style in 3D, it looks really clean! 👍
awesome to hear about the narrative and music aspects, you and jumbo did an amazing job
I saw the video, definitely really good.
Great behind the scenes video! It's nice that you're keeping George Lucas' tradition of in-depth Star Wars BTS alive at a time when official Disney Star Wars content is pretty limited when it comes to transparency and openness about the production process.
Mandalorian had this Gallery, so it was pretty transparent

RIP Jax. You were a good soldier. Loyal to your general and the TRUE Republic, til the very end.
I enjoyed this so much
Thanks this really helps me because I want to start my own Star Wars stop motion
It’s awesome how it evolved from being a stop motion, and in part 2 it became a 3D animation, great effort
It’s insane what a single person is capable of
This should be your application for being part of the Lego movie 3
Great voices, the best brickfilm I've seen yet
Bro I loved this you are really good I cry when I watch this
Yo! You could literally work on the next Lego movie! Your work is like the best CV you could have
That was awesome!!! I’m glad to see the bts finally!
Thanks for making this!

Very interesting video👍🏻. The work behind the brickfilm is amazing...

Nice and smooth animation😊😊
This is so professional. You should be very proud of yourself and your work!
Nice! I love to see how stuff like this is done. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
You did an epic job, keep it up!
The visible finger prints on some of the clone’s torso’s are even more confusing after hearing you 3D animated them
They are digital fingerprints. Check out the mecabricks add on
Can you make Lego Blender tutorial pt. 4 with backround lightning and recording?
Nah thanks.
Thats too good for my level😂😭🙏🏼
This makes me start thinking about animation. Great job!
The fact that I thought this was all done in stop-motion really shows how awesome and real it looks!

Very complex but interesting the whole isn’t much different from normal stop motion.
