Thank you Matt. Great information on fairway woods. I have been thinking about dropping my 3 wood from my bag. Great stuff. Keep it going. You are absolutely one of the most entertaining instructional videos I watch. Plus, you are making this lockdown much, much easier to live with. Be safe and healthy!
I like the idea of a full three quarter swing. Using the chin hitting the left shoulder is also a good idea. But when I heard you express the chin and left shoulder idea it made me go back to my first notes about the golf swing in late August 2020 when I wrote down that the hands should not be at waist level when the left shoulder is over the ball. This note on the swing was over 16,000 words ago. Of course you’re addressing a crowd that appreciates the proper mechanics of the golf swing. I like how you openly talked about the chin and left shoulder.
Appreciate you continuing with these videos. I’m in Dallas TX and we’re still playing... though limited. Most courses are closed, some are open for walking only, raised cups, etc. Golf is my outlet for sanity, more so now than ever
Great vid, especially the bit about not using a 3 wood ! I have a 5 adjusted down to 18 degrees, so like a 4+, and I hit it further and more consistently than the 15 degree 3 wood. The most important thing is to know your own game and what you can and can’t do ! Very few of us are Henrick Stenson, the 3 wood genius. Stay safe everybody
Thanks you Matt, I watch your videos all the time! Today I learned why my clubface is always open when I hit a hybrid or fairway or driver! Its my hands! I always swing like I have an iron! Thats why my irons always go straighter, and my big clubs dont! Thanks again!
Had to comment on this one. I have struggled with getting carry with my fairways and ‘this video was really helpful. I had great results on my first range session after watching this. Thank you
Great tips Matt for a very important topic, especially practising that CRITICAL ZONE area is absolute mint and has really helped me crush my 3 Wood, cheers pal.
Great video. Hit a bucket with a 3 wood just swinging in the critical zone. Before I could hit maybe 5/10 in the fairway. After this drill its 7/10. Keep up the good work.
Great stuff Shorty!! Being able to hit good fairway shots is crucial. I took my 3 metal out the bag months ago so when i miss with my 5 its not as punishing. It makes total sense.
Being an oldie I mainly ignore all irons over the 8 iron.I have an assortment of "woods" which I play which range from 5wood 7wood 9wood l3 wood and a couple of hybrids. Thanks for this video which I will practice and hopefully use much better.
Great advice, Matt. Love your videos. These are wonderful tips for a simple fairway wood game. I dumped my 3-wood a few years back and have improved my fairway and hybrid club game tremendously.
I recently watched one of your older video on how you built your outdoor hitting area and I really liked it they only difference is I would have purchase everything that is needed, but steps were right on,so now I have idea how to do just get thru this pandemic get back to work so I can build one for me, and if possible can you send a list of what I need to build the frame only, because it won't put to much stress on my wallet,Mahalo stay safe,Aloha and God Bless you and your (Ohana) Family
Thanks, Matt - that was actually very useful for one of the more difficult shots foe me, tendency to cast a little so shortening the swings helps all ways!
3 Wood could be used to smack the squawking rooster. I used to use 3 Wood off the tee when frustrated with driver. Currently I will on occasion chip/punch back to the fairway with the Tree Wood if I need to keep the ball low under some branches. 2nd shot on a par 5 I might try it if my round is already in the pooper, although 5W and 7W have given me many more positive outcomes the last 6 months.
So, you change hand positions on “stock” swings? Can you do a video about hand position on short, medium irons + fairway woods/hybrids + driver? My tendency is to go from strong stock wedge/high lofted iron shots to a weaker position through fairway woods and driver. I prefer ball flight control, less dispersion vs. hitting it longer. I’m old now... occasionally hit a 280 drive but always happy with 240 center cut.
I have a sc300 and have considered upgrading to a sky track for better ball tracking but I use it mostly outdoors. I’ve heard the sky track is better indoors, what are your thoughts on its accuracy outside?
Wait! Matt, I didn’t see any HD closeups of the chickens 🐓 or 🥚 this time...first you give James Robinson your spot in the bracket, and now this!?! What is the world coming to? Stay healthy!! Great tips Matt! Thanks!
Great video! I noticed your ball position is quite forward in your stance. Do you do this for all your fairway wood shots that aren’t “special” situations?
Mat I have a question , I have allot of inconsistency hitting my fairway wood , my question is do you find you have to adjust your swing plane either steeper or shallower depending on the terrain on the coarse ? because on a golf coarse it's never always a flat lie like a driving range
Matt, First I want to thank you for the net setup video, I made one almost exactly like yours and love it. I have a question about the Skytrak though. I've read it has issues being used outside. What's your opinion on using it outside with your net setup? Would you recommend it? Thanks!
@@michaelsop ya, I'm kinda on the fence between the Mevo+ and Skytrak. I haven't seen many reviews on the Mevo yet. I would've bought the Skytrak already if it went on sale, that's what I've been holding out on.
In ancient times when the artist demonstrated the drawing of a perfect circle he didn’t go up and down and up. He went around, like how the golf club needs to go around.
Good tips, as always, Matt. I’d like to pose a question: Wouldn’t “giving it all you’ve got” encourage a muscle swing with the arms? Since we want our power to come from rotation, a stable foundation, weight shift, and loose wrists hinging, I wonder if “give it all you’ve got” gives a counterproductive swing thought….
The rooster is telling you not to forget to turn the screw, love that rooster he makes me smile as you do. Love your videos, be safe
"don't go to 11" timestamped at 11 minutes ---- synchronicity !
Matt you have a wonderful gift for teaching; wether it be golf or life lessons .
The best tip I have herd for a long time no more 3wood
Thanks Matt.. I hope you're right ✅️ in my case with the fairway woods keeping the hands tight..
your training tips are sooo good been going through the archives!

Great advice Matt, 5wd off deck but I’m still keeping my 3wd for tee shots:) love this video MSG...

Great video! Easy to follow while entertaining!!

Great tips I can use. And you passed 100K subs without much fanfare Matt. Congrats, loving the channel and your passion.
Great video. Very helpful. Thanks.

"You can't get what you need by 10:30 you ain't gettin' it." LMAO
I learned that once I got married. lol
Great quote!!! Loving your videos Mr.Shortgame
Lmfao .. 1030 is true talk:)
I love this. Nice and simple. Thank you buddy.
Great stuff Shorty!! Being able to hit good fairway shots is crucial. I took my 3 metal out the bag months ago so when i miss with my 5 its not as punishing. It makes total sense.
I got a lot out of this video. I'd love to see one like it on hybrids.
Being an oldie I mainly ignore all irons over the 8 iron.I have an assortment of "woods" which I play which range from 5wood 7wood 9wood l3 wood and a couple of hybrids. Thanks for this video which I will practice and hopefully use much better.
Brilliant. Can’t wait to get on the course
Great advice, Matt. Love your videos. These are wonderful tips for a simple fairway wood game. I dumped my 3-wood a few years back and have improved my fairway and hybrid club game tremendously.
Very very useful for me, my all PAR 5 is getting better!
Thanks. Today I was hitting the 3 metal so bad I muted my swing caddy at the range.
I love listening to Foghorn Leghorn in the background.
I say son that’s a joke son.
Good info on the five wood
I’m going to try that.

Thanks Mr. SG! great tips on golf and life! your the best.
THE most helpful vid in a long time. Well done.
Thanks, Matt - that was actually very useful for one of the more difficult shots foe me, tendency to cast a little so shortening the swings helps all ways!
Great video, just what I was looking for.
Well put, I also don't even carry a 3W! For pretty much the same reason.
3 Wood could be used to smack the squawking rooster.

Great video. BTW the links to the swing caddies were not working for me.. Keep it up!
Fantastic video!
Great video today, l have always had trouble with my 3 wood, don't have a 5wood
Thanks for the great advice. It really worked for me. I crushed my five wood today.
Thank you for this video. Although when I over swing my head moves which is a problem
Awesome..I was looking for a 5 wood too. Congratulations on 100k subscribers

Can you do a video explaining what you do to correct the snap hook with the woods/hybrid?
I have a sc300 and have considered upgrading to a sky track for better ball tracking but I use it mostly outdoors. I’ve heard the sky track is better indoors, what are your thoughts on its accuracy outside?
How do you like using a launch monitor that doesn't give you swing path and club face? Feel like I need that to get better on my own.
Any help for digging with fairway woods? Any drills that will turn my digging into a sweeper?
Wait! Matt, I didn’t see any HD closeups of the chickens 🐓 or 🥚 this time...first you give James Robinson your spot in the bracket, and now this!?! What is the world coming to? Stay healthy!! Great tips Matt! Thanks!

Good tips, thank you
@11:03 I didn't pick up on the joke until you made that devilish little laugh lol
Where would you say the ideal ball position would be, judging by your position in the video inside left heel? Maybe a touch back? Love the vids
i was questioning that too. i have to play my ball nearly in the middle cause i end up topping it if its forward like he has it
Mat I have a question , I have allot of inconsistency hitting my fairway wood , my question is do you find you have to adjust your swing plane either steeper or shallower depending on the terrain on the coarse ? because on a golf coarse it's never always a flat lie like a driving range
The chickens add a lot to the ambiance of the video. Do they make brown or white eggs? I'm just teasing. Appreciate the videos!
Great video.
Matt, First I want to thank you for the net setup video, I made one almost exactly like yours and love it. I have a question about the Skytrak though. I've read it has issues being used outside. What's your opinion on using it outside with your net setup? Would you recommend it? Thanks!
Not matt, but I have a sky trak just avoid direct sunlight blinding the cameras backlight sun would be best
@@michaelsop ya, I'm kinda on the fence between the Mevo+ and Skytrak. I haven't seen many reviews on the Mevo yet. I would've bought the Skytrak already if it went on sale, that's what I've been holding out on.
I like those Mavriks Matt. Are you still rocking Titliest wedges?
In ancient times when the artist demonstrated the drawing of a perfect circle he didn’t go up and down and up. He went around, like how the golf club needs to go around.
Hi! Mr. ShortGame. I'm writing from Malaysia. Can help me purchase a pair of Athalonz's shoe?
Dreaming of getting out to the coarse.
Tip n1. Have your own driving range net and launch monitor.
If you're not getting what you're getting by 10:30, you're not gett'n it. 🤣
Truer words were never spoken.
Thanks for the video! If you need someone to carry that 3 wood I’m your guy lol
hola
Shoulder to chin I like it 👍🏻
Did you cover ball position??
I know he's done at least one or two. If you search through all his past videos, you will find it.
By the time golf season opens most of us will forget all the lessons.
Good tips, as always, Matt. I’d like to pose a question: Wouldn’t “giving it all you’ve got” encourage a muscle swing with the arms? Tell us the truth, what did you do with the rooster? Lol
Great tip.
If you’re a terrible drunk, don’t go to the bar. Then the can’t get it by 10:30 you ain’t getting it. Life lessons at their finest. 🤣
I’ve never tried a 5 wood. Why didn’t you tell me this years ago... Hahaha.
Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy all have their hands in front of the ball. They must be pinching downwards about 2-3 degrees.🐈
That 🐓 rooster....🤣🤣🤣
100K 🎉
Its funny most people cant hit long irons well and i hit them perfect, but i cant hit my woods at all
Are you interested in doing video lessons. Would be interested in sending some swing videos.
Him secretly if that rooster doesn't shut up I'm cooking that for dinner
I carry both a 5 wood and a 3 wood but maybe I can lose a club...chickens are poppin'
I'm the 1st
The rooster stole the show here
Chickens have hatched a conspiracy to ruin your videos lmao
You sir should grow a beard!
Tip n1. Have your own driving range net and launch monitor.
