My project uses 40 of these USB shield. after solder the jumpers 5,5,3, then still about 20% will not work. no power gets to the USB port. HOWEVER I DISCOVERED A FIX. it works for me to simply BEND UP the USB PORT. I should be parallel to the board. Also when you insert the USB cable, then wiggle it and pull it out slightly. I have gotten all my Shields to work using this. I highly recommend you to purchase a USB voltage meter. with poor connection you can get only 2.6 v and it fools you.
Very helpfull, I'v bought boards that came out faulty before (used for parts), but maybe a repair route would have be a lot more economical, (parts are cheap right?).
@@Drxxx I bought a USB host shield and soldered it myself. There was no power at all I tried to charge my phone with it, plug in my mouse, etc. Then I bought a pre-soldered one from ebay and the solder looks good. No power either. Trying this on an Arduino Leonardo
Thanks for the fix. I've been dicking around for an hour unable to figure out the problem. They should put a big red sticker on the thing to ENABLE USB POWER!!!!! OMG!!! Unbelievable.
It works fine. Thank you! But I'm desperate, why do I have to go to the trouble of soldering this part to get it to work? Is it a bad design of the board?
@Drxxx i get 3v on the usb port. it's able to power a low quality office mouse but im getting no data transfer, the pc wont respond to the mouse movement. What could i do if your able to help.

Thanka for sharing 🥰
You mean perpendicular, not parallel, right?

tks a lot :)
You welcome 🥰

Check it on PCB if connection are OK

Hey brand new to soldering what solder did you use. Also why does this fix it.
Because not all devices need 5V! I use goobay sn95sb5
@@Drxxx huh thanks for the information you have got me in to soldering

Some modules used only 3.3V, this is why is so designed.
Nice 👍
thank you!
You welcome ♥️
