I think this movie is a metaphor about depression. Depression is a infinite storm that consumes Us little by little. Others that know you and see you smile or having fun they may think you're doing ok, but it never go away.
OR this movie is just about some people trying to get down from a mountain and survive in the freezing cold. It is based on a TRUE STORY, its the story of a women named Pam Bale. Not everything is a god damn metaphor and this urge to see metaphors in literally everything is getting ridiculous. Just recently someone wanted to tell me that "The Banshees Of Inisherin" is a metaphor for the irish civil war of 1923 even though the plot and the war don't have anything in common. Sometimes a lighthouse or a watchtower might be just that and not a phallic symbol. Also depression is not an infinite storm imho - it's quite the opposite. An infinite storm would mean that you are constantly overwhelmed but depression means basically that you are constantly underwhelmed. Depression is more like wandering in an endless wasteland and nothing ever changes no matter in wich direction and how far you walk. After a while every day feels the same and everything including yourself feels useless.
