tbh I come here occasionally not for tutorials, but for tech news. sometimes you can't have have packed compilations like, or how to videos in an hour or more, you need an in-between. and Kevin have been a great source for that. Thanks, Kevin!
What’s also interesting about this concept is how the physical device at home handles this cloud like architecture. Very interesting topic that I think could revolutionize the consumer industry
I have been using Microsoft Office products since Word was first introduced. The Office suites improved until Office 2010. But now most people would need a computer professional to keep it work. Updates are so bad that each one creates new problems without benefits. The menus are too complex and change too often to be use by a casual user. Apple and Goggle have better Office products without the frequent unnecessary changes. After using Word since 1981 I am moving to a office package that works.
Through this video, I realised that what I'm going for with a DIY setup I'm working on is closer to Azure Virtual Desktop than Windows 365. (8:35) Some of the companies using Windows 365 would probably, as I imagine it, issue something like a Dell or HP thin client to the employee, or maybe even older PCs purchased from other companies that had since upgraded.
@@AxeDragon1989 only in rich first world countries. But even then many densely populated cities define an 'unlimited' connection with a data cap - after which they throttle speeds down. I enjoyed this show about Microsoft Windows 365. Microsoft has an application program for every computer. I am stuck on Microsoft Windows because I do nothing else but business productivity. Therefore, I am proud to have Microsoft Office.
Great Video Kevin! However, one point that would benefit from further explanation:-- What's the minimum hardware requirements to run, for instance, an HDR video on 365? Clearly, an HDR-capable monitor is required, but what hardware/interface is required between the HDR video stream and the monitor? If a graphics card is required, does this also need to be HDR-capable?
I can see where this will work great for a couple of my clients provided they can connect to both office and home printers AND connect to office network servers.

The way we use computers really hasn’t changed that much since Windows 7. MS 365 and Win 365 are quite interchangeable names and easy to mix up while not thinking too much about it. In fact while writing this I forgot which is which. Why not Office 365 (applications) and Windows 365 (Cloud OS). Well explained and organized. Thank you. If price and internet (5G) are good I'd use this on 2 in 1 device for MS services and have multifunctional form factor in one device. I Hope Surface Pro 8 or X2 are very thin and good design and good price.
It's intended for business use, but there's no reason you couldn't use it as an individual if you're comfortable managing a Microsoft 365 account (I know several people who use M365 for their personal email domain and cloud storage). The main thing to watch out for is the pricing may not include all of the taxes you'll have to pay. In the UK for example there's an additional 20% to be added for VAT. Businesses above a minimum size can claim this back so they prefer to see the price without VAT, but as an individual you'd have to pay it on top of the advertised pricing.
You are fantastic. I like the way you explain the stuff. This is the first time I dislike a video to grab your attention to my message on LinkedIn. It is nice to have connection with your fans.
Thanks Kevin. But I see the "Achilles heel" in this scenario as being bandwidth. In your example of DaVinci Resolve, if I have a terabyte of raw video that I want to edit, getting it UP to the cloud will take forever. Yes, maybe Windows 365 can edit it fast, but that's only after my data is accessible by Windows 365. You mentioned a "blazing fast" connection, but who has that? Yet, with a local PC I can ingest that footage relatively quickly. I don't see how that is possible with today's internet connections. Am I missing something here?
You are rocking Kevin as always. Informative video... I want to learn about AWS or Azure. What should be typical period that it will take to learn from scratch..?
Hi Kevin! But what about upploading large video files to my video editing software in cloud pc? Should i buy another pc with high capacity just to uppload my videos to cloud pc and then editing them in there? This will be a dubble cost! And then the internet connection must be fast enough to be able to uppload large video files raw files to the cloud pc otherwise this process will take a long time just to wait to upploading files to the data center. Do you think that this will make it easy or better for video editors?
I think Office 365 has had more than 6 hours of unscheduled downtime in the last year. Last year, I heard one of our network admins refer to it as Office 358. I would expect a comparison to this to be the base for Windows365 reliability.
If I run a company that applies BYOD policy, I will definitely consider on subscribing to this service. $32 per month for up to 300 users at one time? That is nuts!
Very well explained Kevin. I was very interested in it as I recently started using a mac at home and have been using a virtual remote desktop with my work PC if I want to use Windows. Thanks a lot!
I thought a lot of building my own "cloud PC" for a while. Not only for a remote desktop experiance as with enterprise (Azure solutions etc) .
