The most amazing thing in this video is how smooth the Windows 365 machines animations run on the Surface and the iPad - Whenever I remote (even into a local device) animations are never really that smooth for some reason
And what about the experience of games, especially those that depend on the Internet. I want to know more about this. Finally, it's a great job.. good luck
Since the Cloud PC is in the internet, the connections to any online services are hyper-fast. In the video we show 5ms ping, 10Gbps download and 4Gbps upload as an example. You just need to remote the screen with your local connection, so if you can stream a movie, you'll have a great experience from the browser or apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

Like a small office where everyone needs to access a shared QuickBooks company file, one of the Win365 desktops will be the admin with the QB Database Manager running and the other will just need access to the company file. So far, I have created an Azure Storage account, a share and connected to it on the Win365 desktops with PowerShell. The problem seems to be latency. Multi-monitor is supported, but you can access it from one device at a time. So, like in the demo, you could access from a Mac laptop at work, then an iPad at home for example.
@Microsoft Mechanics Two quick questions about Win365 Enterprise. How do you backup each desktop? How do you manage non-Microsoft software updates at scale? i.e update QuickBooks on 500 Win365 Desktops without logging into each system? Thanks!
You would use software distribution tools like Intune, Configuration Manager or others, like you would for local installs. GPO or scripting another option for bulk automation. Since these are user persistent VMs, you normally wouldn't roll out apps with image updates, but that is also possible if your policies enforce off-disk file storage.
What about scanning into windows 365 from a local scanner? What about advanced printing features such as double sided, stapling & bypass trays? Will webcam work natively?
Your admin can choose to pre-install M365 app licenses through the Microsoft admin center. Other third party applications can be installed much like you do on a physical device
Applications are installed onto the PC the same as you would a physical device. What this means for specific app Licensing you should check with your vendor.
You can choose the Azure region where the virtual machine runs and create virtual networks in corresponding geographies. GPU enabled virtual machines are coming soon to better support GPU intensive workloads.
Does this have ingress/egress costs? E.g. if I upload a document to OneDrive from my cloud pc, does that cost extra? Or saving information to an onsite network?
Great product! I have two critical questions: 1. For security purposes, how do you prevent users from taking screen shots of the Cloud PC (images and audiovisual/video) using the PrintScreen key or any application at all so businesses can be confident to deploy it? 2. Will there be a Surface Cloud" of "Surface for Cloud" (not unlike Chrome laptops) with only the Edge browser to access Cloud PC so businesses, schools, etc derive value from not having to redundantly procure a ful PC with a local/full OS only to pay for licenses to access another OS in the cloud (Cloud PC)?
How does this virtual pc handle video calls? Even within teams? How does it access the camera of the local user device for example? A lot of people use zoom and teams this days. How are those handled from the cloud pc?
You can redirect camera and audio devices for calling. If using Teams then we have optimisations to offload the call directly to the endpoint for a low latency, better call experience.
It doesn't replace Azure. You actually use Azure networking to establish a network connection to access your internal business apps, intranet or file servers. We explain this in the video.
Not every business will hire a bunch of engineers to create environments and resource groups for them, no? Also, giving a secure RDP access through a custom port as well as a VPN would be hard on a non windows professional/enterprise subscription.
Im curious on if this is released for Consumer segment, how is Microsoft gonna draw a line between personal data on Machine and data stored on Microsoft Cloud ? At the end, Privacy is Paramount.
Great question, Saif. Privacy and security are always paramount for our Microsoft cloud customers. While we don't have a consumer offering yet, we are collecting all the consumer-related feedback we're receiving and keeping it in mind for the future!

Great demo and explanation!
What about installing application? How would the licensing work? What If application is node lock or floating license?
Your admin can choose to pre-install M365 app licenses through the Microsoft admin center.
Other third party applications can be installed much like you do on a physical device
Applications are installed onto the PC the same as you would a physical device. What this means for specific app Licensing you should check with your vendor.
Thank you for the info. Cheers
How different is Cloud PC from Azure's WVD ?
Is the Cloud Datacenter selectable? GDPR? What about the security layer? Encrypted military grade? GPU? Can we use windows365 for 3d rendering?
You can choose the Azure region where the virtual machine runs and create virtual networks in corresponding geographies. GPU enabled virtual machines are coming soon to better support GPU intensive workloads.
Does this have ingress/egress costs? E.g. if I upload a document to OneDrive from my cloud pc, does that cost extra? Or saving information to an onsite network?
Great product! I have two critical questions:
Some really nice data here like the huge speed boost from online. Windows 365 Single + MacBook Air or iPad Pro is such a nice idea.
I'm curious to see how will print to local installed printer
Yes, this is so supported from the Cloud PC.
This is great! 👍🏼
If the internet service is not available how to support Microsoft offline user?
We do not yet have offline support but are investigating. Thank you for the question!
Would it be possible to play steam games for example using Win Cloud?
Does it replace Azure? How does it connect into internal business apps?
It doesn't replace Azure. You actually use Azure networking to establish a network connection to access your internal business apps, intranet or file servers. We explain this in the video.
Not every business will hire a bunch of engineers to create environments and resource groups for them, no?
Also, giving a secure RDP access through a custom port as well as a VPN would be hard on a non windows professional/enterprise subscription.
this announcement made my day! 😁
That IOS Remote Desktop App is gonna be a game changer
We're excited to support Mac, Windows, and iOS immediately at GA and Linux in the future! We hope you'll try out Windows 365 come August 2!
@@colbyhanley4864 Ah but will there be any kind of GPU acceleration available
Wow excellent video please bring this service to the standard consumer…..
Do I login into Windows 365 using my Windows Live account? Wondering how I would login. Thanks
You would log in using your Microsoft 365 account and we recommend using multi-factor authentication. We demonstrate that in the video.
Pretty great solution. 👍🏼
Ok, so it's like VM on Azure.. But simplier to use, create, assigner or manager.. I like it.
One question for your Saif: Do you have any specific scenarios in mind for consumer Cloud PC? We would love to hear from you!
Would to these windows 365 hosts be compatible with 3rd party EDRs like Crowdstrike?
Yes, you can install any Windows 10 supported software in a Cloud PC.
This is going to be huge & I expect RedHat & other Linux distro companies & Apple to follow suit!!! Once all these cloud PCs roll out, you'll be able to run any app from any device & that's the ultimate in interoperability!!!
