I know that it's not the most effective tactic at times, however, antiquarian + antiquarian + antiquarian + antiquarian, in some dungeons where the opponents don't have high blight resist, works. Antiquarians do well because of their high dodge, the Get down! ability generates a lot of dodge points, and Invigorating Vapours imposes additional dodge on each of them. The opponents helplessly try to hit your girls (dodge 115 doesn't help em), while you, calmly using Festering Vapours, kill the main opponent after like 20th round. True, the girls have terrible heal and when you get hit by single attack, it's hard to heal the wounded one, but the chance that you will ever get hit by an opponent is minimal. In addition, at the end of the expedition you get so much money that any of your other heroes will easily be able to pay for a psychologist at an inn to improve their morale.
    11/10 tactic

Man at Arms is so underrated tbh. The Dodge skill is so good as well as protect & the hit back. I got him at 30+ dodge & when he protects he always dodges & does some damage back. One of my favorites.

Twin shieldbreakers against the stone monster at the end of Crimson Court make him an absolute joke. They take him out in no time flat with no problem. It’s way OP. Especially if you put a grave robber in 3rd, and a vestal in 4th.
Wipe out the spear in a few hits (or just tank the damage). Then use puncture so that the shield never guards the head, and just chip away at him until he’s reduced to rubble, with GR throwing in picks to the face. Dead. If you wanna cheese it faster, camp right before hand and give everyone puncture.
You could even use Sway so that the shield drops never bother them, but it’s not necessary. Just tank it and have the Vestal heal.
You’ll have all the Crimson trinkets in no time.

  • @GeraltofRivia22

For the second team, it's better to have the Hound Master use his mark, because his mark is unique in that it reduces the enemy's PROT. I use the same team comp, but I use an Arbalest instead of the Man at Arms. It's Arbalest + Bounty Hunter + Hound Master + Occultist. Occultist and Hound Master do the marking, Arbalest and Bounty Hunter does the damage. You have heals from both occultist and Arbalest, and you have stun moves from everyone except Arbalest, but she has the flare that removes marks on your heroes, making this comp excellent for the Weald. I would recommend a survivability trinket for the Occultist though, something like Barristan's Head works well.

I tried Arbalest + Houndmaster + Occultist + Bounty Hunter in Warrens. I don't like stress so I added 2 stress healer to make me feel safe and somehow it went pretty well lol. Of course this build relies on luck pretty much but I think AoE stress healing is still pretty cool and Arbalest can be helpful to de-stealth enemies. Also, 4 heroes with mark skills and 3 heroes that do more damage against marked enemies can be somewhat invincible lol.

I really pulled on a lot of highwayman, crusaders and occultists as I believe they allow you to break some of the slower line ups that can limit your choices. Jesters and vestals are great, but can often be combined into the crusader for the main heal and stress heal portions. In most situations, your safest parties often look like a vestal, jester, then two damage dealers as the heals are there and battle ballad will make up for any lack of speed or accuracy. However, this naturally chews up two of your spots and plays a reactive style which is not worse, but can be limiting to new party ideas and compositions. Thank you for watching!

My favourite is Attrition Disposition for Long Dungeons. It doesn't matter the biome, it completely trivialses the dungeon's length since everything in the team's repertoire is built towards fights being longer.
You can blight them, you can bleed them, you can stun them, you can hit them very hard, you can speed yourselves up, you can slow the enemy party down, you can destressify, you can heal, you can buff, you can even reshuffle the party with the Abomination and MAA.
Thanks to stunners and reshuffling being part of the team's moves, they're even good for Shambler and Collector encounters.

This has been super helpful to me. I picked the game up and ran my first save into the ground.
I restarted following the tips here on fast, aggressive play - controlling the stress dealers in the back - and making good use of stuns.
Ir had made such a difference ♥️ so thank you for sharing this.
I'm still putting together some dreadful teams at times - but by following the basic rules of play I'm not failing missions and rarely ever lose a hero anymore.
I'm playing so cautiously though and I've been avoiding Lv 3 dungeons and Long ones... Though I've just got a couple of my favourite heroes to Rank 5 so I'm locked out of bringing them with me... I guess it's time to brave the higher level dungeons.
I do need to work on my planning though - I don't pay enough attention to enemy types before I go in, which really works against me. And i need to understand which provisions to bring in order to get the most out of curios.
I was close to giving up on the game but I'm glad I sought videos like yours out which has really opened the game up for me.

    1. MAA. Dodge, acc buffs and ripostes.
    2. Grave robber. With MAA's buff somehow gets 99 dodge.
    3. Occultist. Heal, mark and stun when GR goes to backline.
    4. Arbalest/Musketeer. High damage and some heal.
The whole team gets 60+ dodge and no one can attack them, but damage not so high.

5:17 this party has several actual weaknesses: cultist not in the front means no hands from the abyss, Hellion needs to be in position 1 to use iron swan so highwayman plays against her, highwayman is forced into either of his stabs or pointblank shot so he cant help with positions 3 and 4. This is actually pretty bad ngl. Either change occultist into crusader and pd for vestal for the crimson hand or keep occultist and change hellion into ceusader and have occultist in 1:Pd stun, occultist stun, Duelist advance, hoky lance

My variation of mark and bark is 1. Bounty hunter 2. Occultist 3. Houndmaster 4. Arbalest. It's considerably less tanky than your version but the synergy between the occultist and Arbalest makes up for it. Ofc marks are reserved for tanky enemies, who will often be melted in a single round since three characters in this team are buffed from marks. I use it primarily in the warrens, but it's very strong for the weald too.
For the ruins and cove a very good party imo is 1. Crusader 2. Abomination 3. Grave robber 4. Plague doctor. GR's bonus dmg vs blighted is something that is not discussed enough, her synergy with PD makes it so the back positions are eliminated by round 2. The crusader can both brawl and heal, I personally don't give him holy Lance in this. The abomination can control or assist with blighting rank 3.
My strongest party imo is my dancing shambler killer 1. Hellion 2. Crusader 3. Shield breaker 4. Vestal. Their biggest strength is not caring about shuffles, probably the safest party for stumbling around in the dark and, naturally, slaying the shambler. The vestal can be switched for anyone who fits in position 4, but I pick her to free up the crusader and because potentially losing a member wrecks the whole party worse than usual.
And my admission wouldn't be complete without my endless harvest party. 1. Man at arms 2. Highwayman 3. Jester 4. Vestal. Riposte breaking the action economy, the infinite sustainability of the two backliners and extremely good buffs both in battle and in camps, reaching the sleeper is a given on every run.

First off all, I love how when you were talking about putting low hp heroes in front while in weal, your Houndmaster just gets crit to the face from giant. Idk why but it is hilarious to me (impressive that he wasn't put into death's door tho). I like that you put every character so everyone can find something for themself. The party I like/used the most is Shieldbreaker/Highwayman/Jester/Vestal. It can be risky in the weald due to the fact that this team lacks some beef. For the party that can be taken everywhere I would pick Hellion/Man-at-arms/Jester/Vestal. This team may lack dmg and is relatively slow, but you have great recovery potential and you are extremely safe thanks to MAA. I also have to say that I have been avoiding marking parties (used them only on swine king), but I will surely utilize them a little more on the next playthrough. Great video, I will surely try out some of those parties.

For torchless runs you'll probably want to lean towards speed and damage. The critical strike chances will make it too painful to play slower.

@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Thank you for this information. I just recently got back into Darkest Dungeon because I never even attempted the Darkest Dungeon because I would get ABSOLUTELY destroyed on champion level quests lol

Regarding the 1st party (Crus, HWM, Jester, Vestal), I can't help but notice that Jester can't reliably use Finale without any means to move forth from his 3rd slot. How is he supposed to use it?

My personal preference for finale is a deshuffle mechanic. If I get surprised pulled or pushed, it allows me to fix the party in one turn while doing damage most times.

That's such a petty thing to do 😂 I think you may need to pick up a dictionary and study what "beg" actually means.
