Ahhh the music always hits a good nostalgia kind of feel~♡ while rumia is easy and silly it does need to point out that rumia and remilia are also part of that dark side of touhou for anyone curious. Rumia's youkai species is labeled as just man eating youkai (as ZUN wanted something that sounded powerful but was only the first boss as a kind of joke) Remilia however... so the reason spell cards are used in gensokyo is because there was a vampire who went around killing humans without care for the balance between humans and youkai, too many humans were killed and so spell cards were created to help the power balance through duels. In a book a few years ago it was revealed that vampire was remilia. So the scarlet devil is a very fitting name~ Just a bit of background lore~

I really like these videos. I got into Touhou music through the vocal arrangements on OSU and I now have almost every Yuuhei Satellite / Senya song. I really like this video since its showing me the original versions of the covers and the story behind them. Please do more :)
I first heard the Tohou Songs through the covers of FalKKonE, so I'm glad that you mentioned him, since he has done many great Monster Hunter covers as well. Also I was glad that I recognized so many when you showed the original versions, since I only new his versions before ^^
I'm really glad I found your channel and I'm looking forward to more Touhou videos! Touhou was always something I knew existed but I was so confused by the vast amount of content (due to doujins) that I never actually was able to grasp anything in particular... I'm really excited to finally learn something about it! Already loved your introduction video :)
Been a huge fan of the series since Game 7, aka second Windows game! I wasn't real big on Bullethells back then, but the charm of these games and the music, oh my gosh the music!! It's captured me and I've been a massive fan since! I'm loving you informing people and spreading the word of this amazing series around, hopefully people will appreciate these! ♥
Pretty nice video, though one thing I would point out is that while it is true for the earlier games, song titles do have things common with the stage/character in the later games. For example, Junko from Touhou 15 is a character filled with hatred and sorrow, after the death of her son and husband. And her theme is called Pure Furies ~ Whereabouts of the Heart. And the theme for Hata no Kokoro, a character who lacks emotion and is only able to express via her mask, has the theme named Lost Emotion. And some of them have such deep meanings it's baffling. Like Touhou 15's 3rd Stage theme, which is named Eternal Spring Dream. The stage is within the Dream Realm, where one can be trapped within an _Eternal_ _Dream._ That's not all though, because the events of Touhou 15 takes place in _spring_ and the protagonists, if chosen Pointdevice Mode, will drink a potion of immortality, making them _eternal._ There are lots of examples, and realising the meanings behind the theme names can be a pretty great way of realising a character or stages backstory or something about them.
Yes! more Touhou content is always welcome. Loved your MH videos so its nice seeing your take on this series I've loved for so long. Remilia is my favorite in this game, and close to tied for the series as a hole. She and Suika are the best. Also, needs more Ui-70, Demetori, and CROW'SCLAW for music arranges.
Of the character descriptions I think Sakuya is my favorite! Going just by music though, Flandre's and Meiling's themese were some of the first I heard so they hold a special place in my heart! Thank you for this series!
This is a very good commentary video. Touhou 6th is a game with many famous music. "Septette for a Dead Princess" and "U.N.Owen Was Her?". These two music are always competing for the top in the popularity vote in Japan.
Ok, so to answer your question... Sakuya! Another thing, just if you haven't heard of the amazing arrangements by Oriens, just search "Oriens Nightmare" on youtube and listen to that song, is amazing, if you like the song, they made like 8 albums, all of them are really good. Stage 3 theme of EOSD is perfect IMO. Good to know you like the series, Touhou deserves all the love it gets, and even more.
Thank you for the informative Touhou videos! I'm going share this to warm people to Touhou Project. I noticed some people were a bit lost as where to start with the series, and your videos might help them. I like how calm and informative you are with the videos. You even went as far as explaining the nuance of the soundtracks, I can feel your love for the series :') Thank you again, and keep up the good work ^^ Going to check out your other videos as well!
Actually, in Touhou vampires don't quite die in the sunlight, rather over an extended period of time they slowly crumble off a bit of their body, which can then just be re-absorbed. However, other than that, you got pretty much everything right, which is absolutely wonderful. I'd really love to see more videos as well-informed as this one both on your channel and just RUclips in general. You did an amazing job with this one and with "Introduction to Touhou Project" as well.
Oh, also, regarding the last question I'm a fairly long-time fan, been into it for about 7 years now, and my favorite character in EoSD is Patchouli Knowledge, and my favorite in general is Alice Margatroid.
Touhou is pretty special among shooters. While many shooters especially at the time prefer big bulking bosses with super large hitboxes, Touhou opted for bosses that are as small as you and move around, which is hard to get old. Big hitbox bosses are quite rare in Touhou.
Rumia does have the most potential in future installments. Darkness is an op ability that is found in final bosses. Alongside her ribbon seemingly be a sealing amulet. Kinda wanna know what happens when that is removed.
I'm new to this Franchise and i'll be honest for picking at first sight favorite character I just kinda naturally gravitated to the Maid whos abilities screamed out the words "Jojo Reference"
So glad you and Yuna are getting into Touhou! Looking forward to the future touhou vids. By any chance, have you seen the metroidvania Touhou game on steam called Touhou Luna Nights? If not - it's pretty awesome!
important thing to add that people often leave out, Reimu just didn't immediatly head out to solve the incident, it took weeks for to get annoyed enough to actually get off her ass. Really important to understanding her character imo.
Dang, even though I've been a Touhou fan much longer than you and have put countless hours in these games, you seem much more knowledgeable and researched than me. Good job!
Touhou 6's artstyle had certain charm to it. Reimu and Marisa look extremely cute, I love the style of 6, 7 and 8 because the characters looked like dolls. (That and, back then Gensokyo was still a very new and mysterious world)
I have been a sideline fan for years. never really played the games because of what they are. UN Owen was her is one of my favourite songs and I acctually semi adapted the EoSD storyline to a Persona themed tabletop game I was running. A yakuza boss trying to extend her influence and her young sister that she kept out of public view. In the Shadow world they were represented by Remilia and Flandre. Flandre was meant as an optional boss. but my Players convinced her to fight Remelia thus skipping 2 boss fights. In the real world of my game this ended up being the young sister leaving a trail of breadcrumbs to lead the detectives right to her sisters operations, proving that she was the more cunning of the two, but more interesting in having a normal school life with friends.
@@Megamanix His character art in Touhou 17 looks almost identical to what it did 17 years ago in Touhou 6. It's just a bit cleaner and more saturated now.
@@HailGodbug that's how art styles work, bruh. When drawing, of course over the years it develops, it's like learning a new skill, at first it doesn't look that great but when you start using it and practicing it more, that skill gets better snd better, but in a style that you're used to. So as the art style is identical, over the years you can see how ZUN's art develops.
My first introduction to Touhou was through U.N. Owen Was Her?, and little has beaten it since for me. Zun's music and all of the stuff that was inspired by it is phenomenal. Although I've never had the patience/skill to get to Flandre in EotSD, it's still a wild play. Worth checking out!
I got this game for Christmas many years ago but since I didn't set my PCs local to Japan I couldn't run it properly - it would just freeze at the title screen. Music was still working though so I listened to that title theme for hours while searching a solution for my problem which is why this particular song always makes me feel really nostalgic. EoSD is one of my all time favorite games. Whenever I'm bored or have a bad day, I can always boot it up and have a fun time. It's just a really enjoyable game. Favorite character is Meiling.
Bro Gaijin I mean it when I say this: THANK YOU! If it weren't for you making this video I doubt I would find the character that I saw in a hentai I watched a couple of years heck. The scarlet household is my favorite, with Flan as my favorite character. Love all there songs with U.N. Owen being my favorite and the song that got me into the series.
Man.. This was definetely a great watch, even tho i myself was really familiar with this one already! And.. A favourite huh.. I am not very good at choosing favourites, but i guess i would say Meiling, but i am not really sure how to explain why i like her more than the others from the SDM, she's just cool i guess, even if the same could be said to Sakuya lol. Also, it's REALLY impressive how small "characters", who have no personalities portrayed in the game and don't even make a proper appearence other than a little fight, can be greatly loved by the fans, when in other series those would be forgotten quickly. I guess that's the magic of Touhou fans huh

I really like these videos. I got into Touhou music through the vocal arrangements on OSU and I now have almost every Yuuhei Satellite / Senya song. I really like this video since its showing me the original versions of the covers and the story behind them. Please do more :)
Thank you gaijin hunter! This video is amazing!! I cant get enough of touhou~
5:10 Someone use a continue when fighting Cirno???
EYE AM THE STRONGEST
...
and of course, the fan remix after that part has to be Perfect Math Class
I'm here because Pelo gave zero context
The stage is within the Dream Realm, where one can be trapped within an _Eternal_ _Dream._ That's not all though, because the events of Touhou 15 takes place in _spring_ and the protagonists, if chosen Pointdevice Mode, will drink a potion of immortality, making them _eternal._ There are lots of examples, and realising the meanings behind the theme names can be a pretty great way of realising a character or stages backstory or something about them.
not really potion of eternity, it's more of an elixir that allows you to see the future iirc
Yes! more Touhou content is always welcome.
2:42
i listened to that arrangement, holy damn did i fall in love with it.
Rebooting my nostalgia... And trying to find my lost passion for 2hu.
This type of coverage is incredible!
I like how you include remixes and arranges for each song from different doujin circles. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
Thank you for the informative Touhou videos!
I'm going share this to warm people to Touhou Project. I noticed some people were a bit lost as where to start with the series, and your videos might help them. I like how calm and informative you are with the videos. You even went as far as explaining the nuance of the soundtracks, I can feel your love for the series :')
Thank you again, and keep up the good work ^^
Going to check out your other videos as well!
Oh, also, regarding the last question
I'm a fairly long-time fan, been into it for about 7 years now, and my favorite character in EoSD is Patchouli Knowledge, and my favorite in general is Alice Margatroid.
Touhou is pretty special among shooters. While many shooters especially at the time prefer big bulking bosses with super large hitboxes, Touhou opted for bosses that are as small as you and move around, which is hard to get old. Big hitbox bosses are quite rare in Touhou.
Really can’t pick a favorite in this game. They’re all really good.
Rumia does have the most potential in future installments. Darkness is an op ability that is found in final bosses. Alongside her ribbon seemingly be a sealing amulet. Kinda wanna know what happens when that is removed.
10:18 ZA WARUDO! TOKI WO TOMARE!
Yep, Sakuya is very much inspired by Dio, right down to her time stop spell being called “Sakuya’s World”.
@@MaskedHeroLucky literal jojo reference. not my favorite character but pretty high up there
Wow. The style of this video is amazing. Very good and informative.
Good job man
Regarding the last question:
Long time fan. Knew Touhou thanks to Synthesia piano tutorials.
My favourite character has to be Cirno or Flandre.
You can already guess why I'm here...
I'm new to this Franchise and i'll be honest for picking at first sight favorite character I just kinda naturally gravitated to the Maid whos abilities screamed out the words "Jojo Reference"
Bad Apple FTW
Yes, there is a xi~on remix in here as well as iosys. Hope you make more of these, looking forward to the hisoutensoku one.
AW YESS! FALL IN THE DARK IS MY JAM!
absolutely love these 2hu videos
So glad you and Yuna are getting into Touhou! Looking forward to the future touhou vids. By any chance, have you seen the metroidvania Touhou game on steam called Touhou Luna Nights? If not - it's pretty awesome!
Oh boy as a long time 2hu fan, I am happy to see you posting this after seeing your tweets about it
important thing to add that people often leave out, Reimu just didn't immediatly head out to solve the incident, it took weeks for to get annoyed enough to actually get off her ass.
(That and, back then Gensokyo was still a very new and mysterious world)
Love the Touhou Luna Nights' remix of these song as well
my favorite version of Eastern Dream is from Demetori, a really great prog metal-jazz fusion song
My favorite part about Touhou is that Zun's art hasn't improved since he started the series
That isn't true..
@@Megamanix His character art in Touhou 17 looks almost identical to what it did 17 years ago in Touhou 6. It's just a bit cleaner and more saturated now.
I think Marisa in LoLK is Zun's peak art performance.
@@Megamanix I did and it looked back with Zun's penchant doll face.
*Uses continue on Cirno*
Seems about right
Gaijuu has become the Youkai Hunter now. A Shrine Manden.
So you're covering every windows entry, it's a good way to introduce more people to the fandom, so that's nice
The English title of Flandre's theme remix is Last Brutal Sister Flandre S by COOL&CREATE and BeatMario
I would gladly watch more of these
i my self have enjoyed the thouhou series for some time, i just love the scarlet sisters but cirno is waayy precious too
I nearly lost my mind when I heard Fall In The Dark playing. Instant like
Bro Gaijin I mean it when I say this: THANK YOU! If it weren't for you making this video I doubt I would find the character that I saw in a hentai I watched a couple of years heck. Now that I know what franchise the character is from I can go from there! Once again thank you good sir, you have deserved a like from me 😂
...a Touhou 6 review in 2020. I don't know what the fuck even, but you know what, I'll take it. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole, for those new to this. We go way deeper than wonderland.
The scarlet household is my favorite, with Flan as my favorite character. Love all there songs with U.N. Owen being my favorite and the song that got me into the series.
Thank you Gaijin Hunter for creating the perfect video to introduce my freinds to touhou
I remember coming here for MH Generations tutorials years ago, guess we're a Touhou channel now.
I support this decision.
"Sweet little sister" also great song for another arrangement of flandere song, you should check that
*_Good story and explanation._*
