Actually if Yuyuko revives herself, the cherry tree will revive and consume human souls again, which makes all Yuyuko's efforts to seal the tree in vain. You might have known this by now, I just wanted to share some information :/.
I remembered the first time fighting Yuyuko. I thought i had it, hands off from the keyboard coz i got hyped af, then Yuyuko be like "surprise motherlover!". Last life, no bombs left, you know what happened.
Yuyuko's attacks are slow but kills your focus. Like before TH7 I have only 1cc'ed TH10 Normal and ppl say that TH7 is easier, lol it wrecked me, everything was just too tanky. I would rather dodge staightforward fast attacks than dodging dense and complex slow ones.
5:30 "Alice is a special character in the universe of Touhou" The irony is that she hasn't had any speaking appearances in the last 10 years or so. Her last one is in Hisoutensoku, released in 2009.

However Alice from PC-98 was rather younger than The Mains and her lore from PC-98 wasn’t match with current lore (same with others 3) Somehow she rarely appears in Game side but she instead appears more on print works side
I've always considered this entry to be the most beautiful of the touhou games. The music is atmospheric, the patterns are really pretty, and the overall winter/spring aesthetic is just plain beautiful. Also, I find that this title, more than the others, times its music really well with the events and flow of each level. In fact, I think my favorite moment in any of the games is in the 4th stage where after a rather beautiful stage with unfathomably good musical synchronization, you clear the difficult final pattern, and at that exact moment, the music just dead drops out in perfect sync.
I love every single Touhou but 7, 8 and 10 are arguably the most atmospheric and representative of what makes Gensoukyou a place so beautiful, so full of dreams and mysteries
Ah, I still remember it like it was yesterday: Entering the mysterious Netherworld for the very first time with its never-ending stairs, falling cherry petals, ghosts floating about and calming music. What awaits at the end of these stairs? "You're a human, I see, just what I need" [*master spark sound*] And then getting brutally murdered by Youmu. ...Youmu is my favorite character.
I just want to thank you for making this little series breaking down Touhou, I've been into it for about a decade now and I've had plenty of people ask me how to get into it but it's so massive I can never explain it very well (and the games aren't very beginner friendly so I can't just have them play to learn about the series). I'll be sure to direct everyone to your channel because I really like the way you explain each aspect of the games, because just talking about the plot or just talk about the characters isn't enough, it's really a mix of everything that makes the series so charming!
All about that Yukari boys. I love this game so much. PCB is one of my favourites. Music-wise, Diao Ye Zong is phenomenal, but Youmu's theme and Border of Life are just... Also, picking the Hisoutensoku remix of Dollmaker of Bucuresti is unfair. It slaps so hard.

This is my favorite game. Best OST, best mechanics, best everything Favorite character is easily Alice Margatroid. Her stage feels so climactic with her multiple stage appearances (topped only by Kaenbyou Rin in TH11 I think?), giving her character a sort of tenacity. That and both her stage and boss theme are so, so good.

I am continually finding myself invested in just seeing what arranges are selected to be featured. I initially thought we'd just see the popular ones but I'm surprised to see smaller uploads are getting featured too: especially recent stuff like Pure-Hearted Armeria by Shinra-Bansho. ...Though if I don't see the Sync Arts song that was featured in the Blazing Heart PV (the actual name of the song escapes me right now) or Sound Holic's FIRE FLOWER as the Extra Stage and Extra Boss themes for the IN video I might be a little disappointed...which may or may not due to both of them being some of the earliest exposure I ever had to Touhou and Touhou music.
...Also I may or may not be a little disappointed that Hatsunetsumiko's Fragments wasn't the choice for the Necrofantasia arrange. The song's feature in the 2nd Touhou Kinema Kan was also a significant starting point for me in Touhou all those years ago.
...and I may or may not totally want to see FELT's Ribbon as the Stage 1 theme arrange and Hatsunetsumiko's Beautiful Dreams as the arrange for Mystia's theme. ...So really, IN arranges both new and old are so defining for me that I have to wait with anticipation for what is actually selected.
The selection is to be expected for someone that has just gotten into Touhou recently. A lot of the older PVs and arranges that used to be popular, particularly in the Western fandom, have long been deleted from RUclips or don't get any traffic anymore. Pure-Hearted Armeria on the other hand has already surpassed 500k views in just two months. I think it's safe to say that it is one of the most popular Touhou PVs of 2019.
Yuyuko is one of my favorite characters. Border of Life was the song that got me into this series in the first place and reading a bunch of fan comics about her backstory. I like her portrayal as someone who doesn't let her tragic past stop her from being a kind and fun person.
Man, Yukari's absurd abilities are super cool. There's an awesome animation of a fight between her and Marisa made by ましとのです , reddevils500b has uploaded it to RUclips for anyone interested. I also would be careful about calling her "older than Gensokyo herself"...

Something that also makes her very endearing to me is, even though she is supposed to be a vengeful spirit, she refused to hold a grudge and became a gentle spirit rather than an aggressive one.

I can't remember if there was ever an official explanation about how she lost her memory, but I vaguely recall the Yama erasing her memory in order to put her in charge of managing the spirits in the netherworld. She might have gone mad if Reimu had failed to stop her in that incident... Although I'd like to believe that she's always been a gentle person and that even if she finds out about her own death, she would still be the same gentle and carefree Yuyuko.
The stage 4 theme, Capital City of Flowers in the Sky, is what I consider to be the most beautiful theme in all of Touhou. I have the CROW'SCLAW arrangement of the song (among others) on my iTunes playlist, and it has the most replays of any other song in my entire library. The stage itself is also an artful progression that depicts your character flying through a deep formation of storm clouds to a beautiful clearing high into the sky. Sakuya even feels like crying when she gets to see the view at the end.
Hmm, I think I like Yuyuko the most in this one. My favourite theme from Touhou 7 is Yuyuko's theme, and in terms of fan-remixes I probably like Halozy's "A Wonderful 0" the most. Though I also like Phantom Ensemble a lot, as well as its remix by Violet Delta.
Ah yes, my very first touhou game. The one that made me go deep and deeep into an obsession for the franchise until MH took over back in 2012. I still have an attachment to this game even if it isn't my favorite of the series. The soundtrack too... so nostalgic. Can't belive it's been 10 years since I've first played this.

Oh man I remember playing the demo for this years ago. Have to admit I couldn’t really follow the story, but gameplay was great, an excellent introduction to the bullet hell genre for me.
Great video! "Perfect Cherry Blossom" is recommended for those who play Touhou for the first time. The music is beautiful, and Danmaku is also beautiful.
I think this was one of the games i most spent time on. Truly a great one. Yuyuko's final spell was and still is probably the BEST and GRANDEST moment of all this series, Border of Life sends shivers down my spine everytime i hear it, it's so full of emotion that i can't keep myself from getting goosebumps! And for a favourite character? Well if though Perfect Cherry Blossom has many great ones, it has to be Yukari, a mysterious figure hiding a lot power, and also the fact that she has a lot of appearences in many official works makes her character more fleshed out than many others in the games, also REALLY good music, i think i can say for centain i love all of her themes. She's just really cool and full of mysteries. I wonder how will she play out in future installments?

Perfect Cherry Blossom was the first game I played in the series. :D So many memories. Favorite Playable Character is easily Reimu. Favorite Boss Character is Alice Margatroid.

Man you just keep picking the most amazing mixes Sound Holic has done :) For Phantom Ensamble for a simply powerful remix, Check out "Still Here" by Akatsuki Records. It's in a word: Incredible. Fav char is still Marisa, but for PCB in particular: Yukari Yakumo (original i know). Her origins, her powers even her theme all speak of something no one has any business messing with. one of the infamous 4 sages that created Gensokyou (please Zun, give us number 4 someday) and an a terrifying ability with near no cap of limitation. Nercofantasia remixes can make a playlist of their own. Endless Fantasy (by Akatsuki Records) and the remix by dBu are got tier for it. I do enjoy her outfit's redesign too as the series goes on, the playful nature she has while maintaining this air of just raw power and seriousness. Her dialogue in 8 is a great example, playful, yet she knows when works truly needs to be done. Speaking of: I cant wait for you to go over Touhou 8 Imperishable Night. my first EX clear, i love Mokou to death and love the story between her and the real villain of the game. side question: is the gameplay in these videos your own? if so, i can tell you were doing your best to learn and survive to a point in the gameplay vs Yukari you hit a comfort zone. I think what dissuades a lot of ppl from this incredible series (essentially all from one man which is astounding) is the raw difficulty form the outside in. I swear people who love these games looked at all the fear around Sans in undertale's fight like *cracks finger* "we meet again, normal mode". I do wish more people gave the games a try. The characters are legendary, the music even more so and they would find it's no where near as impossible as it looks at a glance. Sorry for the long reply. I just have a deep love of Touhou and it's helped me through a lot. If you do read this, I sincerely thank you for your time and am happy to have you join such a wonderful and colorful fandom that spans countless ages of players :)
There's still a long way to go through the main games, but I wonder if you'd ever explore the bullet hell fangames? There are a number of gems, namely Concealed the Conclusion, which I would highly recommend.

My favourite theme from Touhou 7 is Yuyuko's theme, and in terms of fan-remixes I probably like Halozy's "A Wonderful 0" the most.
Though I also like Phantom Ensemble a lot, as well as its remix by Violet Delta.
Ah yes, my very first touhou game.
The one that made me go deep and deeep into an obsession for the franchise until MH took over back in 2012.
I still have an attachment to this game even if it isn't my favorite of the series. The soundtrack too... so nostalgic. Can't belive it's been 10 years since I've first played this.

Oh man I remember playing the demo for this years ago. Have to admit I couldn’t really follow the story, but gameplay was great, an excellent introduction to the bullet hell genre for me.

I think this was one of the games i most spent time on. Truly a great one.
Yuyuko's final spell was and still is probably the BEST and GRANDEST moment of all this series, Border of Life sends shivers down my spine everytime i hear it, it's so full of emotion that i can't keep myself from getting goosebumps!
And for a favourite character? Well if though Perfect Cherry Blossom has many great ones, it has to be Yukari, a mysterious figure hiding a lot power, and also the fact that she has a lot of appearences in many official works makes her character more fleshed out than many others in the games, also REALLY good music, i think i can say for centain i love all of her themes.
She's just really cool and full of mysteries. I wonder how will she play out in future installments?

really enjoying this and hoping you can continue this series. my favorite game in the series is subterranean animism, so i'm hoping you'll eventually cover that game as well. really alot of my favorite songs is in that game and so many memories have been made on that game. orin is my favorite chara on whole series btw, but if it's about chara on pcb then it's ran and chen.

For Phantom Ensamble for a simply powerful remix, Check out "Still Here" by Akatsuki Records. It's in a word: Incredible.
Fav char is still Marisa, but for PCB in particular: Yukari Yakumo (original i know). Her origins, her powers even her theme all speak of something no one has any business messing with. one of the infamous 4 sages that created Gensokyou (please Zun, give us number 4 someday) and an a terrifying ability with near no cap of limitation. Nercofantasia remixes can make a playlist of their own. Endless Fantasy (by Akatsuki Records) and the remix by dBu are got tier for it. I do enjoy her outfit's redesign too as the series goes on, the playful nature she has while maintaining this air of just raw power and seriousness. Her dialogue in 8 is a great example, playful, yet she knows when works truly needs to be done.
Speaking of: I cant wait for you to go over Touhou 8 Imperishable Night. my first EX clear, i love Mokou to death and love the story between her and the real villain of the game.
side question: is the gameplay in these videos your own? if so, i can tell you were doing your best to learn and survive to a point in the gameplay vs Yukari you hit a comfort zone. I think what dissuades a lot of ppl from this incredible series (essentially all from one man which is astounding) is the raw difficulty form the outside in. I swear people who love these games looked at all the fear around Sans in undertale's fight like *cracks finger* "we meet again, normal mode". I do wish more people gave the games a try. The characters are legendary, the music even more so and they would find it's no where near as impossible as it looks at a glance.
Sorry for the long reply. I just have a deep love of Touhou and it's helped me through a lot.

I love yukaris theme but damn I havent even finish phantasm yet cuz of her.
There's still a long way to go through the main games, but I wonder if you'd ever explore the bullet hell fangames? There are a number of gems, namely Concealed the Conclusion, which I would highly recommend.
