Thanks for the upload. This is happening with my 2008 Cobalt. We've replaced the valve, because we were getting the "Valve stuck open" code, but this explains how the water got into the pump. I'll be working on trying to replace the pump and hose now, and hope the new valve is working well enough to not cause the issue again.

Ok so my pump was working on my 99” suburban just fine at cold start up . It was sucking air though the (Inlet) port just fine . After power washing the engine bay and avoiding this unit I even put a rag in the inlet to avoid water after that it would not operate? Soon after it coded p0410 Today it is working but intermittently working and it it does it now (sputters ) air out of the inlet insure it pulling in through the inlet ? Any ideas
does a 2007 chevy colorado have this part? i am getting a p2431 and the part is called the secondary air injection system, but its not this part its all metal. is this the smog
2008 Trailblazer. I replaced the pump and the check valve. Hoses are in good shape. Checked fuses and relays and they are in good working order. Engine check light will come on and then go off. What is you thoughts?

Check engine light has been on since they changed the ignition switch. Which the dealer said they couldn't find the reason for. Question is if I do all this replacement will the error code clear? I understand its really just a dead short situation. But for 3 times I got the starter to spin, no fire. Is that because of the ECM? And if the ECM reads correctly will it turn over?
I just change a secondary air injection pump on my 02 Deville and the OBD11 keep saying generic air pump anytime I tried to erase the code P0400 . Any suggestion on how to erase the code .

2000 gmc jimmy 4.3 so i had a po410 code and after finding the fuse was blown changed the fuse and code has not come back however i feel as if i have a lack of power and the truck is surging / shuddering kinda trailer hitching as they call it between 1500 and 2000 rpm and goes away upon acceleration to bring up.the rpms could this be a bad pump thx
Possibly bogging, but only when the engine is cold and still in open loop. The air pump only runs for about a minute in open loop to help warm up the catalytic converter. Other than that, it doesn't run until the PCM does its self check, which is sometime during closed loop operation, and it doesn't run very long then.
A few drive cycles should turn off the MIL, or it can be turned off with a scan tool. However, if that wasn't the problem, the MIL light will come back on.
So this probably explains why i get a vacuum type noise when I start the car after it sits all night. I thought it was my idler pulley so I replaced it and the tensioner and its still doing it
I installed new pump on 2006 Jetta because it was shot and code came back 0411. I replaced combination valve yesterday and code came back. I checked hoses and they are good. Any suggestions?
Wilfredo Colon yes after all of that the after market pump was pushing the pressure hose off due to not a perfect match. (I had dealer pressure test it to diagnose it.) I purchased a new $50 aftermarket pump and pulled hoses off pump noted the differences and filed the hose nipple was 1/4" to 3/8" too long and filed the pump shoulder it was about 1/8" too thick I think. What have you replaced?
You need to watch some videos on the AIR system... secondary AIR pumps air from the intake into the exhaust. The check valves are in place so exhaust gasses DON'T go back into the AIR system and ruin the air pump. You're thinking of EGR, which is the system that pulls (small amounts of) exhaust into the intake to lower combustion temperatures.
I'm not a mechanic, but you realize this makes absolutely no sense right? Hot air is less dense than cold air so you would effectively be lowering your O2 levels, which would DECREASE burn efficiency. You're thinking of the EGR system and that doesn't dump directly into your intake. This is not a part of the EGR system, that doesn't have a pump, it's powered by the exhaust.
mate..you might be able to help....I have a peugeot 307 2004 model. Engine light on P0410 error...diagnosis from mechanic: needs new air pump and valve...would that be the egr valve or something differen...the one way check valve that this bloke talks of? The only reason I ask is that the mechanic quoted a high preice for parts (1000 for pump and 200 for valve) and I am trying to source them myself...already found a $200 pump (new), but need confirmation on valve type...any help appreciated..thanks

No. He is referring to the diverter valve. The EGR valve is a completely different system.

Usually pump goes bad because of valve. It might cause that issue, but can't say for sure.

OK so this DOES NOT pump air into the Exhaust, It pumps hot air (heated by the Exhaust) into the air intake. FYI.....
